    Sunday special

First time coming to this place and they did not disappoint. Staff was super friendly very welcoming to my two doggies and they have live music on Sunday during the day. Food was amazing and I usually don't love barbecue food, but this was really good. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I have been meaning to try this place out in years, and boy what a mistake to not have come visited sooner! Big shout out to the live guitarist, adding to some really cozy vibes. Love the ambience of the place, came for dinner on a Saturday night during the holidays and it wasn't too crowded, although I'm sure it would be different on different weekend. Also service was very fast and friendly, they really made sure to take care of us right when we came in through the doors. Another plus, free fountain drinks! Ask for the food, I find the brisket and tri-tip pretty well priced compared to other barbecue places I've been in the Bay Area (1/2lb $15.99). The brisket was absolutely delicious, definitely our favorite. We also got the baby backwards, which were smoked very well and incredibly flavorful. Also, shout out to the barbecue baked beans and sweet potato tots - they were definitely our favorite sides! We will most certainly be back, so happy for some local barbecue of top-notch quality.

Decently sized restaurant with a good atmosphere. They have a bar counter, regular seats inside, and outdoor seating with a heater. Service was good, ordered in the front counter and picked a seat. I got the brisket Philly which was warm and gooey with nice caramelized onions. The brisket was soft and tender. The sandwich was on the smaller side but tastes great. The regular BBQ was Smokey sweet but a bit too sweet for me. The spicy a BBQ has a good kick.

Ominous spot and very well hidden! They have live music and a small outdoor area, which is almost like every BBQ joint I've seen in Texas lol. But on to the food. My buddies and I ordered the whole package. Mac & cheese, brisket, ribs, backed potato tater tots. Oh and brisket nachos. I have to say, with me starting to getting into smoked meats, I've cooked plenty of brisket before and this one was really good. The baked potato was great and the mac and cheese was good. I have to say the ribs were not to my liking, they were a bit dry and cold.

Apparently had a fire and closed??

Apparently had a major fire and closed??? Their food looked pretty good. Hopefully will reopen after repairs are made.

That Thing You Q Locally-owned BBQ spot that saw its humble origins begin back in 2010 at the Brentwood Farmers Market before finally realizing their dream and opening their first brick-and-mortar here in Pleasant Hill back in 2012. Their sister Martinez location came to life in 2018, fwiw. The Good: *They Q things up the right way with brick pits and 100% hardwood smoked meats using White Oak. *Great selection of local beers and ciders on-tap *Service from the young lady running the FOH was great. *Dog-friendly outdoor dining *BBQ Beans and Coleslaw were both terrific, and the latter met with the approval of the Coleslaw Queen. The beans were meaty, smokey, and cooked perfectly. *Sweet Potato Tots were homemade and fantastic. Crispy, with a soft center and great sweet potato flavor. *Smoked Corned Beef Brisket is phenomenal! Smokey, salty, and that great corned beef flavor in a juicy, meaty slab. I couldn't resist trying this even tho we were already ordering the regular brisket, as well, but I'm so glad we did. *Ribs were cooked perfectly so that they weren't completely fall-off-the-bone but had some good texture, nice amount of smoke, and a great flavor from the rub. *Private lot and street parking The Meh: *Wasn't a fan of the German Potato Salad, as it just didn't stand up to the flavor of the other sides we tried. The Ugly: *Brisket was a bit disappointing, as it was very dry and not juicy at all, which is a shame because the smoke and rub were great. Conclusion: Fantastic *real* American BBQ that's worth a stop. Highly recommended.

Food was juicy and well-seasoned! Served fast. Also they have one of the best bathrooms I've ever been to. Nice and clean! I'd love to go back again!

I absolutely enjoyed Slow Hand! Only in town for a week for work and we came in for a team dinner. They accommodated us with open arms! I kinda love the ordering style of order and pay at the counter and then they brought the food out to your table. Very friendly service! The food was so good and the portions were big. Nothing fancy, but everything was comfy and casual about this place! Love the old school advertising decor hanging throughout the restaurant.

Pit burger. It's no ordinary burger. (5/5)

My husband wanted a corned beef sandwich, but the waitress also recommended the Pit Burger. We're so glad he took her advice! That burger was a flavor explosion with the onion sauce, bacon, and cheese. I'll definitely be craving it again. Our ratings: Pit Burger: 5/5 Smoked Corn Beef Reuben: 1/5 (way too salty) Service was (5/5) Giving them a solid 4 star rating. Overall, we definitely recommend this place! Go get yourself a Pit Burger!

One of the best BBQ places in the entire Bay Area. Great value, tasty food, exceptional customer service and I like the outside patio. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but can't win them all I live in Oakland and was teaching a class at the Pleasant Hill library and the librarian recommended this place. As you can see from my empty plate (which I wanted to lick) I loved it. My associate was with me and she had the same experience - even the sides were tasty. We both said that we would definitely come back, even though it is a bit of a drive for us - but totally worth it.

Average Mac and cheese lukewarm too

Ask the Community - Slow Hand BBQ

Do they serve a gluten free beer?

    Is their sauce GF?

Yes! Everything on our menu is gluten free excluding the Mac & Cheese and Beans (cooked with beer). Hope to see you soon!

Do you have indoor or outdoor dining?

    Both

How's the seating availability on Sunday evenings? Is there much of a wait?

We've never had to wait. Wouldn't hurt to call ahead to ask before going. The staff is super nice and accommodating. If there is a wait it's so worth it!

Their staff are not only attractive, they're interesting and welcoming. This large open venue offers a variety of entertainment with a lot of personality and the owners really know music. Each event has a different flavor and crowd, and it's a good idea to buy your tickets ahead for any shows because this place gets really busy. I have been incredibly impressed with the individualized service from each of their bartenders and bouncers. They do their best to keep everyone satisfied under circumstances that are incredibly restrictive for any businesses in their Industry. If late nights aren't your thing, try their Sunday afternoon dance parties. I had no idea what to expect when I wandered in after following the music to their door after running errands and had a blast. I've also met some really sweet people there through karaoke which they no longer offer weekly ...but hopefully they'll add an open mic night soon. They have managed to bring a taste of the city city to the burbs. "Music Makes the people come together..."

It was pretty packed when I walked in on a Saturday around 4pm given that World Cup was playing. I checked in with the hostess and was told to wait for someone to take my order. I wasn't sure why it had to be a specific person to place my order when there were 5 employees at the front. After I placed my order, I was told that my order would be ready in about 15 minutes. The poke was fresh and the unagi and mayo sauces that came on the side complimented the entire dish well. The wontons were also very crispy! Definitely on the pricier side given that the portion wasn't that big after paying more than $20. Would I order it again? Probably not but glad I still tried it nonetheless.

We were doing happy hour to catch up, and planned to order my husband's dinner at the end. We entered and were immediately seated toward the back near the bar seating. After being seated, we were given menus and of course they. have the digital ordering system as well. The greeter didn't explain it, tell us we could start using it or anything. Odd. A few minutes later, we waited as no one came to speak to us, offer water, or anything. We ordered 2 items to start, then activated the "alert" on the digital ordering device (I hate these because no one pays attention to them except the kitchen staff). Within FIVE minutes one of our items arrived, which we found strange. Still no water, no greeting, nothing. We flagged down several employees to get our server, water, drink order and PLATES for the unusually fast item that had already arrived and was sitting there, cold and lonely. Still nothing. by the time the second item came, there was still no waitperson, so we couldn't order our drinks, AND the first item (I'm convinced it was a cancelled order by someone else so they gave it to us) was now ice cold, with rubbery chicken and wilted lettuce cups. We ended up walking out after 29 minutes of NOTHING. I cannot believe that we saw at least 2 dozen young people working, scurrying around, etc. and talked to several, only to get the reply, "I believe the manager is handling this". I won't ever go there again. I have gone since they opened, and this is really disappointing. By the time we left, happy hour everywhere else was over and the lines at all the Veranda restaurants were LONG, so we didn't get to have our fun girls' afternoon. ALSO: on a side note, when we were seated, there was a woman with 2 young kids being seated. She very clearly reminded the host that she had requested a booth. They sat her at a nearby booth and one of the kids started to pull coloring/craft/homework items from her backpack. The woman took the other child to the bathroom. At some point the girl at the booth got up to go as well. Her backpack was under the table and their jackets were on the table. A host brought 3 young guys and a kid to the booth and MOVED this lady's stuff and seated them! I knew she'd be upset, so we waited. She came out with the kids and was mad. She told the people sitting there that this was her table and they basically looked at her like she was an old crazy lady. She told the staff and they pretty much did NOTHING. She stormed out and we did not see her again. I was very disappointed to see her treated this way, and surprise - she was a person of color, treated like she was not a valued customer. Ugh. What is going on here???
