    Tofu wrap skewers

Finally there is an amazing restaurant open at late. The staffs were very friendly even we come round 11:00pm. The food was so good. The skewers are perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. This place will be my most favorite late dinner restaurant.

Really love this neighborhood restaurant. Very friendly service, clean environment and the food comes out quickly and very tasty. The quality and quantity get your money's worth. Most of the dishes are spicy but you can request less spicy or not spicy. Another great part of this restaurant is that that open until 2AM! Love ordering the midnight snack from them.

Best skewer in the area! and they also served some Noodle soup and cold noodles also seafood selection too! the service was good and open until midnight. Support local Asian business

I've been coming to this spot for a while on and off now, and it's always been good, but ever since the new ownership took over, it's even better! The skewers are cooked perfectly, super flavorful, and the quality. You can really taste the difference. I've brought my friends here recently, and they've all loved it too. The seasoning is on point, the meat is juicy, and even the veggies are delicious! The garlic eggplant being our favorite. We look forward to coming here biweekly pretty much now.

Finally tried this place. We went to the Oyama BBQ in Newark before, and the menu here is different. Duck neck - 3.5/5 This is on a more spicy side. Don't recommend ordering this if you can't eat spicy. Skewers (beef, lamb and chicken wings) - 5/5 Very nice skewers. Well seasoned and very tender. Cucumber salad - 3.5/5 I didn't expect this is a spicy dish. It is seasoned in chili oil, so it is a little oily. Not a big fan. marinated shredded potatoes - 4.5/5 The potatoes salad is crispy and refreshing. It goes well with skewers. Zhajiang Mian - 4/5 The flavor is good and the noodle is chewy, but it is kinda oily. Overall, a great place for late night Chinese food. We will definitely go back.

Service is always excellent, the food that we have ordered like beef, lamb and tendons skewers are delicious. We also tried their spicy fried chicken cubes, it was the bomb, all the ingredients were amazing, melting in your mouth. I would recommend for anyone who likes spicy food , to come to this restaurant and try the skewers and their spicy chicken. Oh? And Ray ( not sure if I correctly spelled her name right) is the best! She always comes to our table just to make sure everything was okay with our meals. She is the sweetest girl!

I absolutely love Chinese skewers- it's always a go-to if I want some late night grub. I was more than thrilled to see there's a skewer place closer to me and I don't have to drive out to the city or to SJ! You order from your phone via a QR code on the table. We ordered a bunch of skewers- from beef, lamb, fish balls with roe, tripe, etc. I can't remember all of them but they were pretty tasty. Keep in mind that all the skewers have the same seasoning- some sort of xinjiang spice mixture. The skewers were tender and not over cooked. I ordered some sort of mala soup that had enoki mushrooms- I forgot the name of it. I would skip out on it since it's literally just enoki mushrooms and malatang soup. It's nothing special. Service was pretty fast. We got our orders within 10 minutes or so.

I'm so happy we found Oyama BBQ tonight! They are open until midnight for all you late night owls. After a long day of work, it's nice to have fresh skewers! My fam and I tried their fried chicken, chicken feet, beef, and chicken hearts. They really have an array to choose from. They have spicy foods and non spicy, everything is fresh and made to order. The service is wonderful, they even showed us a special desert with sweet plum ooh it was phenomenal !! They are so sweet here and the ambiance was perfect for a fam meal and a great conversation. Lots of regulars here so that's a good sign!! I loved it !!!

Haven't been to the store in a while, but ordered plenty via DoorDash since my last review. My updated review: Oyama BBQ is still botdotcom. In fact, I would say better than when they first opened. This place has since perfected its cook time and seasonings for each type of skewer. The beef tendon was tender and melt-in-your-mouth with a subtle chewiness. The garlic cloves were like soft pillows (yes, I love garlic and can eat them raw). The eggplant is no longer bland per 3 years ago and is now beautifully charred with a minced garlic mixture. You cannot go wrong with ordering beef, lamb, scallops and oysters. There are a few new items on the menu and the restaurant has launched a steam pot 锡纸 series. I feel like this is probably the first for a Chinese restaurant out in our area, so I was super duper excited. We got the duck blood and vermicelli steam pot and clam and vermicelli steam pot. First things first, the broth used to cook the two pots are the same so my recommendation is to get the clam and vermicelli. The vermicelli was cooked al dente and the clam meat was supple and flavorful. The spicy, garlicky and kind of mala chili oil broth elevated the taste. Nothing bad about the duck blood and vermicelli pot, we were just expecting a non-spicy Nanjing version with tofu puffs (IYKYK). I also think cubing the duck blood would work better for texture versus a flat slice. Service is better than before. The owner used to be there all the time and he had somewhat of an RBF, so I could see how that may irk people. Order via QR code. Last call for the kitchen is 11:20pm.

Cucumber salad is delicious! Slight spicy kick
    Pam N.

You scan a QR code and place your orders through there. If you listen closely, you'll hear a ding from the front register each time someone places an order. If you hear alot of dings, you better hurry and get yours in soon. The wait is worth it though. Lamb skewers are the absolute legend here. Perfectly grilled and tender, we order about 6 for the 2 of us each time. They are seasoned well and are so tasty. No other meat compares even though the chicken is moist and the chicken skin is crispy. We always go back to the lamb. Smashed cucumber salad is soooo good here. Great balance of spice heat, acid and crunch from addition of peanuts. A staple every time we visit. If I could, I would come here once a week.

Oyama is my family's new guilty pleasure! Some of the items here are really a 5/5! By now, we have come here several times and I can report on several menu items. I've been to other locations/similar restaurants and this place has some good items that are a must try! There is plenty of parking around and even though they are often busy, we usually get seated right away. Now for the food: -Beef Skewer, Chicken Skewers, Lamb Skewers 5/5: I've had the beef, chicken and lamb. I'm not a huge fan of the lamb one. It is a bit salty for me but my husband loves it. The beef is my favorite and chicken is good too. -Soy Sauce Fried Rice 4/5: it is pretty good and we ordered this a couple of times until we tried the other fried rice. -Egg Fried Rice 5/5: this is delicious and so far our favorite fried rice. They did take a while to bring it out which is the one thing I don't like because I usually want to eat it with the skewers. -Steam Bun 5/5: so delicious!!!! It is a tab bit sweet but I wouldn't call it a dessert either. It balances the flavors well. -Cucumber Salad 5/5: very fresh and delicious! It's a good side dish for all the meat items. -Chicken Wings 4/5: very good and fresh. My daughter loved them! It comes with two. -Quail Eggs 5/5: I love them. They are season quail eggs, a bit salty but a good complement to the food. -Vinegar Spinach 3/5: this was not the dish for us. We tried it but I'm not sure I'll order it again. It has a lot of vinegar. The flavor was not it for us. -Egg Plant 1/5: this was not good at all. It is a steamed eggplant with a lot of garlic on top of it. I wouldn't order it again. -Chives 4/5: they are a bit salty but we like them. I wouldn't get them every time I come here but once in a while. -Vegetables skewer 5/5: they look like the chives but taste better and less salty. Instead order the vegetables! -Spicy Oysters 4/5: my husband likes them but it is a $20 dish and the oysters are tiny. This is more of a once in a while dish. Over all we love this restaurant! The food is delicious and the staff very friendly. The food quality is also very consistent! -

The…read moreone thing that really stands out the most to us is their Sichuan Beef Stew Noodle Soup, which I've praised so many times in my previous reviews so I'm not gonna repeat myself so that I don't sound like a broken record, but it's just so good! Another thing we ordered when we visited this restaurant yesterday was the Sichuan Cumin Beef. I honestly forgot how much we liked this dish. The way they cooked it yesterday was incredible. Every bite was packed with flavor (savory, very cumin-y and spicy!) , and even the veggies were fully infused with it. It went perfectly with steamed rice. I want to give a warning though, because this dish was extremely spicy, which I personally loved. I liked it so much that I ended up ordering another one to go so I could keep eating it at home over the next few days, lol. I also want to give a shout out to the guy who was basically single-handedly running the restaurant yesterday. He saw us walk in carrying a car seat and offered us a high chair, but he flipped it upside down so we could safely place the car seat on it. Such a simple back but genius. On top of that, he was super friendly the entire time. The restaurant was pretty empty, which is pretty normal for this restaurant whenever we visit it, although they seem to get a lot of takeout orders - happy for them. The empty restaurant actually worked out perfectly for us since we had a baby with us, haha. Overall, it was a really good dining experience, and I'd definitely keep coming back whenever I'm in the area.

While he was working incredibly hard, it's unfair to both the staff and the customers to have a "one-man show" during dinner rush. We waited 30 minutes for drinks and a full hour for food--which is nearly impossible when you have a hungry toddler with you. We ordered a non-spicy dish (lotus root) for our toddler, but it arrived spicy anyway. Since we couldn't wait another hour for a remake, she ended up just eating white rice. To top it off, our beef tripe and blood in hot pot broth dish arrived without the blood. When we finally flagged Rambo down, he explained they intentionally exclude it because some customers find it "smelly." As a Chinese customer who specifically ordered the dish for the blood, I found this frustrating and deceptive. If an ingredient is being removed from a titled dish, guests must be notified upfront. We enjoyed the flavors of the spicy tan tan noodles, lotus root, black pepper lamb, and ma-po tofu, but the management needs to hire more weekend staff. We'll stick to takeout from now on.

This is a restaurant where the menu doesn't just list dishes...it teaches you something. The moment you open the menu, you know you're in the right place. Sliced Pork with Spicy Garlic (蒜泥白肉) - silky, rich, and packed with real chili heat. North Sichuan Green Pea Jelly (川北冷粉) - hot, sour, spicy, and addictive. Spicy Pig Ear (紅油豬耳) - crunchy, aromatic, and perfectly done. Jellyfish Salad (葱油海蜇) - refreshing, light, and authentically seasoned. These aren't "safe choices for the American palate." These are dishes straight from the Sichuan playbook, and they are done properly. And then the entrées -- highlights worth calling out: Sichuan Tea-Smoked Duck (香辣樟茶鴨) - smoky, spicy, fragrant; a dish you don't see done right very often. They nail it. The meal comes with a small hot and sour soup but when I asked if they could leave that out he offered me wonton soup instead which was so nice and unexpected since I know they don't usually allow substitutions. Now on to the taste of everything: Beef Chow Mein - 10000/10 this is one of the few Chinese restaurants I order beef from because their beef is so silky and tender not chewy at all Mongolian Beef - 8/10 super yummy with a nice Mongolian flavor but a little to spicy to eat a lot of. It's a lot better with the noodles or steam rice. Fried Prawn - 8/10 super light and crispy and the shrimp are never fishy or bland, I love the batter it's like a beer batter/ tempura and it comes with a sweet and sour sauce Overall I give Shan Shan Low a 9/10 this place is a staple for me when I want good quality consist Chinese food perfect for a low pressure date or even just meeting with a bunch of friend or family since the inside is so large! Oh also my total was about $43 for all this and me and my partner at the leftovers for dinner :)
