If I could give Zero stars I would. Or even take stars away from them. The staff seems more concerned about what time their break starts than helping anyone in the store. Of the 5 people I saw working, only one approached me to ask if I needed help. As soon as I said no, he walked away, never to be seen again. I found the ink cartridges I was looking for and headed to the register right next to the customer service booth. The customer in front of me apparently had a complicated transaction, and was taking a while. Instead of a friendly "be right with you sir" or the guy standing around at the customer service booth doing nothing offering to ring up my one item, I stood there for 10 minutes waiting to even be acknowledged. I finally had to walk up to the guy twiddling his thumbs and ask to be rung up. I will NEVER shop here again. read more

Bought an HP Envy wireless printer and had Nando help us out through the entire process. He answered all our questions and gave rock star customer service. Went home and tried to set everything up and and nothing worked. The app that the directions told us to download was junk. Took it back the next day and seen Nando working the front and he helped me set up the printer by showing me how to navigate through the wireless set up process. This guy got great customer service and support too. Figured everything out and printer is working fine now. Needed some office supplies. But not jus any old, plain manila folders. I wanted to some folders with style & class that appealed to my tastes & preference. I was able to find DiVOGA file folders in a teal/black/navy 12 pack combo, with 3 designs, perfect for me. The DiVOGA clip board was very art deco in forest & spring green on teal & the mini magnets in 6-packs were black floral on sale for $1.50. After shopping here a few more times I've realized that I like this store. The printing center isn't bad if you find the right employee to help you. The first time I went here the service was pretty crummy but the last two times were great. The workers are pretty friendly and the manager is super helpful/nice. Love that I can order online and pick up in store. All the associates are always friendly and quick to offer assistance. They'll even bring your order out to the car. I do wish the website was a bit quicker and less buggy but otherwise this is great. They'll even deliver next day if you can't pick up right away. read more

Carlos in the print shop is fabulous! He took the time to explain the cost, and the best way to print out the programs we needed for Gramm's funeral. He was patient, and helpful and even tried to save us money (what a concept at a retail store.) The cost is a few cents less than other print shops around and I would definately recommend them for any printing needs! read more

Big selection of printers at decent prices. As the Printer companies have decided it's more profitable to charge you ridiculous prices for ink than it is to sell you a printer, it's nice to see a good selection to choose from. This place is a wonderland for anyone on an open ended budget or free reign of company credit card use as it provides a wide selection of expensive candies and goodies for sugar jonesing buyers (we all know how you office workers stuff your faces with sugary snacks). Hungry? or looking to spend the bosses money on something useless that entices you? No worries, just add it on! It may costs three times as much as it does in a regular store, but hey who cares? On Saturday I found myself short four training manuals for a class I was teaching on Monday. I explained to Aubriana that I needed these printed with spiral bindings by Sunday. She was courteous and explained all involved. She called me late Saturday afternoon and told me I could pick up Sunday morning. Used Office Max because I was told they could print some business cards here on island and get them done quickly. Longgggg story short, they printed them here on island and got them done quickly, the second time. The one thing they left out was their best cutter can't cut straight lines for your business cards. They were all off centered and looked terrible. I've been to Office Max before, but they way the service rep handled me was awful. He informed me they couldn't print/cut a better card. So apparently the best they can do is an off-centered business card. Fortunately, another gentleman re-printed the cards and cut them himself. They were much better, not how we would expect them, but better. They worked, but I've since sent off for more somewhere else. If you need some cards quickly and don't care on the appearance, go to Office Max. If you want them done professionally and cut straight, perhaps look to ship it off island and pay the extra cash for them. You'll possibly save in the end. read more

good prices, bad service. I called 2x in a row and they put me on hold for more than 5 minutes each time. I did not wait to see how long it would take them to get back to me. Also, the second time i called. While the guy was getting my order (I do my research before I call so I can give them the item #/s and it's easy for them to pull up/prepare, etc), he just starts talking to someone else without saying "just a sec" or at least excusing himself. Then he said he'll get back to me to let me know if the item is indeed available and he never did and just left me on hold. read more

Bf was long overdue for a new laptop and we thought to go and explore our options. Here was our 1st stop, and then office depot, best buy, and back to this office max; the day before we searched at Costco and a whole bunch of sites online for great buys/deals/reviews. We came back because this PHYSICAL location was the only one to have the exact Toshiba 13" model--although this one lacked the same amount of memory as the same model sold on Costco's website (which was sold online only with shipping at something ridiculous for HI). EXTREMELY bad service. Because only they had the model we were looking for, I convinced him to look at other accessories here since we planned to buy it that day. We started comparing their selection of computer fans/lap-table things there for a while and associates would walk by casually around us and slowly as they passed us as if we were going to shove those gigantic things up our shirts and pants and walk out with them. When we DID want them to come over and hover all over us like they did when we were browsing quietly the big guy that could've doubled as security just stared us down as he passed the aisle and ignored us. Every time we needed them we were snubbed, even when waving to them, staring straight at them, and trying to say "excuse me" to call them over as the patrolled the aisles. We finally get an associate to help us and he basically wanted to rush us out the store because they were closing, but FAILED to help us the 30 min before when we needed them? We asked him a few questions about the model and he basically knew nothing. Do you know if this laptop with camera comes with a built-in mic? ~Uhhhh. Yeah I dunno. I don't think so. Stares at the turned off laptop, lifts it and says "no doesn't look like it." Seriously? What you're not gonna call a rep that DOES know? He basically stares at us asking if we want to know anything else because their closing and don't have much time. We ask to see the components of the computer so we can find out whether or not this thing has a mic or not. ~Uhhhh. Yeah I dunno the code. Lemme call someone over. From the moment he talked to us until this point he's leaning with one arm on the aisle's shelf staring at us with this stupid look like *uhhhh. So you guys need anything else.* while we wait. Just stands there leaning and staring at us. Another guy comes and gets the thing on, can't find the components that state whether it would have a mic, CD-drive, etc., etc. and says "yeah, it should. I mean if it doesn't you can always bring it back. Just actually BRING the receipt" Wow. Thanks? Whatever, so we decide to get the thing since they're the only ones carrying the exact model, but we gave up the extra memory to save on shipping and get sucky service. But it doesn't end there. We wait at the customer service register and that dopey guy that didn't know ANYTHING about the laptop lets the girl know that we're getting a laptop and someone will bring it down. We thought this girl was the only person nice in the whole store until after we paid all she kept saying was "OKAY, thanks guys you can exit through that way." We stared at her like no, where's our laptop we just paid for. She started to clean up around her and looked up and said "have a nice day folks, hope you come again *smile*" and we say "um. Our laptop?" All she says next is "yup that's all taken care of, have a good day!" Now we're confused, we ask "So you're MAILING it to us?" She starts cleaning with some other woman now behind the desk with her. She sees that we're not leaving, turns and with an attitude says "Was there anything ELSE you guys needed today? We say our LAPTOP. Now she's confused and asks "I'm sorry what are you guys asking?" We ask her for the last time "Where's. our. laptop." Ding ding ding, folks we have a winner. She realizes she kept the laptop under the drawer and hands it to us with one hand smiling and saying "Oh! Here ya go!" *We were seriously contemplating getting it the next day since we really didn't want this moron to get commission off a sale where he was rude, didn't care to help us or try to find information for us. We were also contemplating returning it so he didn't get the commission AND complain that the WHOLE store discriminated and judged us. They looked at us and treated us like we weren't going to purchase anything in their laptop section so didn't give us any good or useful service--so we wouldn't waste their time, but they completely wasted ours--and treated us like we were going to steal their laptop accessories and/or their laptops! Worst service I've ever gotten from a COMPLETE store--I didn't even know that was possible. Similar people get similar jobs and give similar attitude. read more

Two stars for the friendly staff. The rest of the place is a disaster. Ownership: your business processes are horrible. Reasonable selection and prices as you would expect from a national chain. Total breakdown when they don't have prodcut in stock. Processes for ordering is tedious, asking the same information that they have on file for their reward program. When not in stock in the local warehouse, you need to order it from mainland. Guess what, they ask you the same information all over again. Can't give you an expected delivery date until that is complete. Okay, so I slogged through that whole process and was handed a receipt and a delivery date and told, "if you want an estimate of delivery time call the number on the bottom of the receipt". Okay, that sucks, but I did it yesterday. After a couple of transfers and a twenty minute phone call I was told "it is scheduled for delivery today from 8am to 6pm". So much for that. Okay, so I made plans to be available, all day long. 6pm I'm calling the store I made the purchase asking about the delivery. The answer "I'm sorry the warehouse that is being delivered from is closed". Even after confirming delivery in the morning, no phone call, no explanation, just wait around all day for something that does not occur. Got a hold of the warehouse today. Here is what they said: "sometimes that happens" and "we didn't have your order in the warehouse", "it has been rescheduled for Thursday". We asked, "so if we didn't call no one would have contacted us?" The answer, "exactly". Could you possible work hard for a poor customer experience. I mean, you probably could, but you would have to be creative. This is from the place with "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and "Personal Customer Service" in a big sign posted on the wall. That is a joke. I don't know if anyone that works in the food chain at OfficeMax actually cares, but somebody needs fix this broken system. The staff is making promises that they cannot keep, and it doesn't really seem to be theie fault - well, the warehouse people could probably make an effort to call when a scheduled delivery is going to be missed - the system OfficeMax is not conducive to me wanting to go back there. Here is an alternative for those that want to skip the pain. Fisher Hawaii is located nearby at 450 Cooke St, Honolulu, HI 96813. They have an office furniture division in the back. I certainly wish I would have gone there. If you are going to go to OfficeMax, I recommend that if you don't find in on premises just go somewhere else and save yourself the headache. I certainly won't be back for next project. Buying anything more than paperclip and pens there and you are asking for trouble. read more

Called in to see if they had a piece of office furniture, which they did. I asked them to put it out towards the register, and they said they would. Came in 1.5 hours later, spoke to the register and said "don't know anything about that?" When I called in, by the way, the person who was the operator kept interrupting me before I could explain what I wanted...the young gentleman at the front was polite enough, did not really seem sincere and kind of micro aggressive? He said "well the person who told you he would do what you asked, was probably busy?" I thought and said, really? I also said I'm not sure the manager or owner would like to hear that? if so, I believe that store will not last much longer...but after all it is Hawaii and these stores are needed if they don't have great customer service. I thought I had a simple request of a "Print Centre." All I needed was to print out an Amazon shipping label to return an incorrect Amazon package. Standing in front of them, they told me I had to upload the document first, or send them the link to the webpage. They were prepared to send me home to do this as they didn't have a computer that customers could use. Fortunately, I was able to get the link sent on my smartphone. They pulled it up on their email, but because it required me to login to my Amazon account to view the page, they said they couldn't help me! All they would have had to do is passed me the keyboard to login! So, they sent me away at 6pm in a strange city with a mailing deadline. I was shocked and will be avoiding Office Max in the future if at all possible! They can't call themselves a print centre! read more

Today my coworkers and I went into Office Max to purchase desks for our work place. As Fluent Hawaiian Langauge speakers we were very happy to have the sales associate come up to us asking if we needed help and when she heard us speaking asked us again in Hawaiian. MAHALO NUI KAPUA! Aunty, you made our day! She spoke to us only in Hawaiian while making the whole transaction. It's very heart warming to hear that the Hawaiian Language is out there and thriving more than we know. I went to Office Max to purchase a computer desk I saw advertised in the Sunday Advertiser. The desk I wanted had a side shelf for my desk top computer. I went into the store 8/10/2015 (the day after the ad came out) and was told that desk does not exist. Their desk did not have a shelf. Their desk was the desk that was advertised not the picture I was seeing. The old "bait and switch" con. They went on the internet to show me the desk I saw did not exist. I found the desk on the internet. I decided to buy a like desk that was on sale, and also offered an additional 20% off. I was suppose to receive delivery 8/19/2015. I am still waiting. The operator from the Phillipines stated she does not know what happened. Customer service in Texas said she shows two in stock at the Honolulu store. As of this review, Office Max has my $66.97, and I do not have a desk. Yes, horrible, dishonest service! read more

Have been quite sick recently and had just got around to returning an item to this store. I purchased it 19 days ago. Figured it would be no problem. The item hadn't been opened, shrink wrap was still in place. No tampering etc. Thought things were going well, handed the item over, Reena rang it up, and then tells me I will be getting an instore credit, not a credit to my credit card. Absolutely not acceptable, says I. So she calls another associate over and he concurs with her action. I asked the chap if he was the manager. He said no. Told him I wanted to see the manager, to which he replied "He's just gonna say the same thing." Reena said she'd call him. I waited and waited. Then Reena called out to the others in line "Thank you for your patience" and rolled her eyes. Ah. I see. I'm the bad guy here. Told her if her manager got off his azz a bit faster when a customer wants to see him, then the other customers wouldn't be waiting, now would they. Then I looked at the cashier register. She'd not only tried to fob me off with an in-store credit, she'd rung it up $20 short! What a freaking insult. Even when I pointed this out, she went through the motions of ringing it up again, and said "That's what I did last time!" Well, honey. Obviously it WASN'T what you did last time, because it was WRONG. Meanwhile I told her that I'd learnt my lesson and would just go with Amazon next time, as I and I'm sure others won't put up with their "Up Yours" attitude, she'd find herself out of a job and the store would be closed. "What? Because of one complaint?". Can we all spell ATTITUDE here? Finally the manager comes out, and quickly processed the refund to my credit card as requested. Even he couldn't resist a snide and absolutely STUPID remark. I told him their return policy should be posted very publicly if it was only 14 days. He says "The conditions are on the back of your receipt". What? I mean! Come on! You buy something in good faith and even then you're getting a "contract" Who the heck reads the BACK of a store receipt for chrissakes???? And then he has the gall to say that I SHOULD read the back of the receipt because it's a "contract". WTF planet did they get these dozy incompetent braindead sods from? Do NOT go to OfficeMax. Their customer service stinks. It's just not worth it. I only went there as I like to keep local businesses going by doing my bit. Forget it.
