The start of our breakfast experience went like this: When we walked in, we were seated immediately in a tight table and asked to move to a booth. The young hostess went to the other young hostess (Ali) and loudly said, "they want to move to the booth" and Ali replied with an annoyed sigh. We then waited for the booth to be cleaned off and the initial hostess said loudly, in front of us, to a family waiting after us, that a party right before them walked in and asked for the booth so they would now to wait. She then led us to our table. Overall, this put a sour taste in my mouth. No customer service, no manners. When I worked in a restaurant as a server, they would've been talked to about how to speak in front of customers- I was really put off. Moving on, our server was spectacular, the guy who maybe was the runner was spectacular, and they both made us feel very welcome on the establishment. The food was great and we were in & out in an hour. We don't come here that often, and we've normally waited for a table when we've come. It is a tight squeeze in there and the tables always feel sticky, but the food is so good & the servers are wonderful. I came in feeling irritated at the lack of people/customer skills the hostesses had, but left happy and full.

So I'm from Texas. When I hear finer, I expect a mom and pop restaurant with big proportions and great prices. That's exactly what Oceanview Diner was for my family and I! We went on a busy Saturday morning, and were seated as quickly as possible. The inside featured pictures of VA beach's history as well as a rustic seaside feel. The food was cooked amazingly with enough to go around for everyone!

This is a nice local diner, in Oceanview. Service is friendly, fast and the food is good . Dining room seats about 50 people. The walls are filled with local historical photos and sea shore themed items. Location is just off the Chesapeake Bay. Simple, tasty, friendly and filling! What more could you want?

This little diner is like a warm hug from the neighborhood itself, so cozy, charming, and full of heart! The décor perfectly captures those Ocean View vibes, with cool historic photos of the local area on the walls. The menu is stacked with all the classics, but *psst*- there's a secret menu, and it's worth the detective work. I went for a secret menu item, and let me tell you, my blueberry pancakes were so good that my dining companion conveniently "helped" me finish them (after devouring their own shamrock Benedict, of course). The staff? Absolute sweethearts. Kind, welcoming, and probably capable of making even burnt toast taste like a delicacy with their good vibes. Love this spot and fully intend to become a regular. If you see someone guarding their pancakes like a dragon with treasure... that's me.

Reuben with onion rings

Stopped here for lunch 12:15 Monday. Old school mom and pops place. Ordered the Reuben with onion rings. Service was friendly and quick , food came out hot and fresh, sandwich was perfect, onion rings were really good except the large rings that seemed to have extra batter between the rings that I wasn't crazy about. Would definitely stop back in here again when I'm in the area. The Reuben was actually one of the better Reuben I have found in the 7 cities

I have been meaning to check out this place for a while kind of glad I did that. I went here today. I was trying to decide whether I wanted breakfast or whether I wanted lunch. As you can see which way I went. The staff was amazing and very friendly the food came out quick and got. The onion rings were crispy and tender at the same time. The daughter said that her order was great and flavorful. She said we need to go again. We definitely will the vibe and s so laid back and chill.

Lots of Eggs Benedict to choose from... This is the classic.

I've gone a few times since my initial visit. I've enjoyed every time I come. I'm currently loving the Rueben sandwich! And the fried green tomatoes are excellent.

Me and my coworkers decided to check this location out one day. We were a large party of 13 people on a Friday (St. Paddy's weekend... those in OV know how busy this weekend is. Any way they were very busy but super friendly and were able to seat us all together and a booth so conversation was still able to occur. Our waitress and a waiter were very friendly and pleasant. Now onto the food- DELICIOUS. I ordered the Shamrock Benedict and all the ingredients were fresh. All of our party's food came out at the same time. This is much appreciated and not common at a lot of places. All was warm so I know it wasn't sitting long before serving. I recommend this place, it's a small town vibe there too. Nothing fancy, good food and service- that's all we need sometimes. See you again soon OV Diner!

I chose the Becca Burger, without mushrooms and their Steak Diablo Fries. They make everything fresh, to order with fresh ingredients. The burger was clearly freshly hand-packed, the jalapeños were freshly sliced, not pickled. Since they make it all fresh, you might wait a few minutes longer than the typical burger joint, but that's fine considering the amazing eats you're about to enjoy. My burger came out looking beautiful and it was definitely sitting tall! The flavor was excellent! Meat was great too!! I definitely liked having their chipotle mayo on it!! Those steak Diablo fries were incredibly tasty, with a nice kick, but sooo much more flavor than heat! The fries themselves were great, perfectly crispy and tasty, but adding all those toppings truly made it special! Service was nice... I had a few questions and she was helpful with the answers. Lastly, they have birch beer here, which I loved! Highly recommend stopping in for a great burger and fries experience!!

Stopped by Tea Lux Cafe for a lil boba break and boyyy... this place is a must-sip spot…read more I ordered the Oat Brown Sugar Fresh Milk with boba and physically said "mmm" out loud like I was in a food commercial. Easily one of the best brown sugar flavors I've ever had. Rich. Creamy. Life-changing. Because I make reckless (and delicious) decisions, I also tried the New Blueberry Matcha Latte -- kinda like if blueberry pie and matcha had a sweet little baby. A bit sweet for me, maybe because I didn't give it a full mix... or maybe because I needed to add boba. Either way, still vibed with it. Grabbed some food to-go but peeped the vibe inside -- super cute, perfect for laptop warriors and remote work fam. Ordering at the kiosk was easy, and staff were super helpful if you had questions or just looked confused (me, always). Food-wise I picked from staff's favorites: Spicy Bulgogi Banh Mi (with egg) -- Solid crunch. Flavor was decent, but could've used more bulgogi. Will definitely go extra spicy next time. Fried Buttered Corn -- crunchy, buttery, and served with sausage. It had a lot going on flavor-wise. Fun to try, but next time I'd probably go for the popcorn chicken instead. Final verdict: Come for the drinks -- I'll be sprinting back to try the whole menu. ‍ Food was decent -- a quick, easy spot for a light bite while you sip something fun.

Bánh mì đặc biệt 3/10 The bread was a regular baguette and was not made of the typical banh mi bread. There was no flavor and was quite bland. The sandwich was also extremely small and over priced at almost $8 Bot chiến 7/10 This was pretty good and had all of the components one would expect. The only downside was there wasn't much papaya and it was expensive at $10 Boba 7/10 This was a little too sweet and a bit over priced at $7 for a large Overall, the place did not deliver and was very Americanized. As a Vietnamese person, I've been struggling to find Vietnamese food on both sides of the peninsula. I like that they had bot chien but that was it.

I ordered the meatball grinder with provolone, and it might be the best grinder I've had since moving to Virginia--hands down. The bread was absolutely top tier--toasted perfectly with the ideal mix of crunch and softness. The meatballs were flavorful, the provolone was melted just right, and everything held together beautifully. The only note I'd give is the sauce--it was a little heavy for my taste. Next time, I'll ask for light sauce, and I know it'll be perfect. My coworkers all ordered salads, and WOW--they're massive. Fresh, crisp, and definitely worth trying on my next visit. This local favorite has maintained a loyal following since opening its doors in 1987, and after one visit it's easy to understand why. Having grown up in Norfolk, I still make the trip over from Chesapeake from time to time because some places are simply worth returning to. Our favorite bartender Lauren is always friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu suggestions if you're undecided. She also happens to make a fantastic drink, which certainly never hurts. My wife ordered the Sesame Shrimp Salad consisting of fried butterflied shrimp, organic mixed greens, fresh vegetables, mandarin oranges, crispy wontons, and their house Red Dragon dressing. The presentation alone was impressive, but the flavor balance is what truly stood out. In fact, she enjoyed it so much that I never even managed to get a taste myself, which is saying something. I decided on the Shrimp Platter and the portion size alone was enough to get my attention. The shrimp were fried to a perfect golden brown, served piping hot, and properly seasoned throughout. The crinkle-cut fries delivered that ideal contrast of crispy exterior and soft potato center, while the coleslaw brought a refreshing balance of sweetness and acidity that tied the entire plate together beautifully. No Frill continues to prove that you do not need unnecessary gimmicks when the food, service, and consistency speak for themselves.
