How can you NOT give this place a five star! Management (amazing), bartenders talented and funny. More importantly the food is to die for!!! I wish I could stay in here forever. read more

3.5 stars. This was my first time at Ocean Prime. It was an after-work happy hour gathering, so I can only comment on the appetizers and drinks. Group consensus was: oysters were excellent, mini-hamburgers were good, and the house wines very good. The service was O.K., considering the crowds. I will need to return for a full dinner to give the place a true review. read more

Very delicious and classy! Loved it. Great steaks and drinks! Butter cake is to die for will melt in your mouth

I went here for my 50th birthday celebration and I enjoyed it overall. The ambience gets 5 stars. The food gets 4 stars, and our server gets 5 stars! The only problem I had was my baked potato was not superhot.... well it barely melted the butter. But... overall Ocean Prime is a great place and you will definitely enjoy the experience. I can't wait to go back. P.S: the ten layer carrot cake is GREAT!!! read more

This place was phenomenal. My friends and I had a reservation we were seated right away and attended too. I definitely recommend eating at this establishment. read more

Went there for lunch with colleague and client. Very nice decor and ambiance for an upscale establishment downtown. We ordered the scallops, snapper fish sandwich and snapper and salad. All were delicious and cooked perfectly. $83 for three of us plus tip. A little pricey but not unexpected. My only concern was the waitress was a little slow to bring the check after I asked her for it and perhaps a tad to casual. Went back for a second lunch. We all had salads, I had the crab wedge salad and it was very good. My only complaint is our waitress interrupted us several times while I was engaged in a serious conversation with my lunch guests. Management needs to train their servers better. read more

Food was good! Very Mastro's feel, but they can work on their service. The Restaurant Week menu was ok, definitely the same as Mastros, Del Friscos and Eddie Vs so it wouldn't matter where you go. The service was terrible, he couldn't handle a large group and his attitude showed his frustration. Hopefully if I come another time, I'll have a better experience. read more

The food was really good, our table was ready exactly as reserved, service staff were nice and made great recommendations. I recommend this restaurant and will go back. read more

Food was bomb, drinks were poured right, waiter and service was on point. Comfortable table and good seating environment. I came in with my 6month old - got some judgements from the hostesses but whatever, people with kids gottah eat too. A little pricey but all around great dinner, my waiter was the man and on point with the service. Next time I'm in DC I'll defiantly stop back in. Only feedback for the place is to the hostesses - don't judge a book by its cover, just because my wife and I were dressed casual, with a baby, and I have tattoos doesn't mean we are in the wrong place; your tone and looks were noticed - check your ego at the door read more

Came back for food and internet and more mimosas. The bartender...the oysters... the friendliness...the ambiance... the efficiency. This place is giving it's neighbors a real run for their money. I can't complain about a single thing. You feel valued and like a high roller spending a million bucks for an actually extremely affordable experience. My guess is that the employees are treated very well, giving them a happy and content and can do vibe that this little lady effs with big time. In this and any economy it feels great to spend money with an establishment and feel it's worth every cent. Every cent. Bravo. read more

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and left very impressed! With so many places to choose from, i am glad i picked Ocean Prime. Atmosphere was very nice, not too loud, and of course the food was very good. Cocktail was great and oooo those tots! My wife said the teriyaki salmon is the best salmon shes ever had. Also impressed with the "young adult" menu for our 8 year old. Although we didn't sit at the bar, we noticed it and how nice it looked. We plan to come back for some drinks in the near future. Thanks for awesome time! read more

Good food, good service, quiet atmosphere, good drinks send wine selection. But the steaks were not cooked properly. However, The taste made up for it. read more

Had a birthday dinner in a private room at OP on Saturday evening. Amazing experience! The food and service was exceptional. Our waiter Nate went above and beyond and will definitely return and ask for him. read more

Ocean Prime was a great place to have drinks and happy hour food while we waited for the traffic to die down. Last week I had the fortune of maneuvering a colleague to happy hour. Despite the chill outside, the restaurant was very cozy and warm. We sat at the bar before it got crowded. We had delicious popcorn that was complementary. Loved the popcorn. We ordered drinks and mulled over the appetizers. We looked at the dishes the other people ordered and opted for the Lamb Lollipops and Saucy (Spicy) Shrimp. The bartender mentioned also provided guidance to our choices. We were very pleased. Hever served a great Bubbles and Berries and Manhattan. He was very hospitable refilling our water and asking about happy hour food choices. I will certainly return to hopefully get Hever G. He was awesome. The other bartender (who looked like Tony Stark) was excellent also. Didn't get his name. The crowd was nice, not too loud. read more

My last review was not good. I now give 5 stars due to the awesome service by b-Rich at the bar. He makes a perfect cocktail and exudes charm. The happy hour food was excellent. I can't speak to dinner options but will definitely return for a wonderful bar snack and drinks. read more

Ocean prime wants to be upscale, but it missed the mark. While the food had good flavor, the service was extremely disappointing: - Several times the staff demonstrated severe disorganization and even quasi-argued with one another about what to deliver to whom on a nearby table. - No one offered a place to place coats, no one offered to help with chairs, and the bread was flat, dense, and hard. - Further, they didn't bring us serving spoons with our sides and we only had one fork left to eat with, the coffee was flavorless, and the service was slow. You just didn't have the attention of your server like you do at many similar places. - - For example, she would come by with full hands and empty dishes lingered. - The table next to us complained that her steak was butterflied. The server essentially said that is how the chief likes to do it with no additional offer to make it right (and no heads up when the woman ordered). - The music frequently seemed to be maybe top 100 hits or a hodge lodge of slow jams (including some 90s r&b) which sometimes did not fit the scene. Jazz or something else low key and classy would have set a nicer tone. - Most of the staff and ambiance simply lacked the elegance in service and otherwise that you expect at a nicer or special occasion place. The staff need more training to offer a fine dining experience and avoid the feeling that they just got hired from ruby Tuesdays, a more casual experience. I will def choose another option (like Joe's stone crab and steak or capital grill) within the price point over this steakhouse in the future. read more

Such a great spot ! They have delicious food . We got sushi and the truffle fries to start with ,the sea bass for entree and it was wonderful . The staff are very friendly and they have great cocktails on the menu ! I recommend the berries and bubbles ! Such a fun drink ! read more

Where do I start!!! OMGoodness this dining experience was by far the best I've had in the city to date. Upon walking in for dinner, the bar and front area was pretty crowded however the drinks were pretty good....patron margarita (a little less ice please, more liquor). Our waiter was awesome and pretty much went into detail about the entire menu. For starters the lobster bisque was tasty however was missing the lobster chunks. I had the bubbles and berries signature drink which was really good. For my entree, I had the blackened snapper which came on a bed of veggies and was drizzled in a sauce.....freaking delicious and cooked perfectly. My love had the ribeye....never had a steak cooked this perfect EVER!!! For the sides, we had the creamed spinach, corn, and jalapeño au gratin. The latter two were really good however we had to send back the flavorless and seemingly uncooked spinach. Was too stuffed to try dessert but we will definitely be back. read more

This place is ok. The building and decor is very nice and clean and you feel very comfortable there. We came and were seated near a window. We were given bread with whipped butter, which was good. The waiters were kind and very attentive. Maybe because we came very early (5:00 dinner) but there were very few people there, and about 3 waiters were serving us at once. It got the slightest bit disorganized, but they generously gave us more bread when we asked. We ordered 2 filet mignons (10 oz) an ahi tuna, and a burger. For sides we got Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower, and mushrooms. The meat is definitely what they do best. Stay away from the sushi. The tuna was not great, was hardly warm in the center, it was sent back to be recooked. The filets were good but expensive, it's 50 dollars for 8 oz of meat. The Brussels sprouts were good, probably the better vegetable. The stuff is very expensive there, (total bill for 6 people was 220 dollars not including tip) so it's like 3.5 stars for me. read more

Went here with daughter and sister and everything was delicious! We had the goat cheese ravioli starter. We also had the grouper, filet and roasted chicken. Chicken was so tender and good. Roasted garlic mashed potatoes very good. We also had the chocolate cake for dessert. Paired with a lovely bottle of Tenacious wine. read more

I went on a date and ordered the twin lobster tails. My lobster was delicious (although I do feel 2 twin lobster tails should come with more than 4 pieces of asparagus) and so I ordered a salad to go with that. The chop chop salad was delicious, crisp and fresh--however, I am a service snob and with the prices paid for dinner here, our service was not impeccable as it should have been. She was a middle aged Indian woman who called my date by his name, Mr So & So, yet called me "lady." Very rude and unprofessional. She just wasn't warm, or seemed happy to be doing her job. She did the basics--bought out the food and that was it--I was less than impressed with her. When our entrees were bought out, steak and lobster--they forgot to bring us steak knives, and we had no intention of sawing our food with a butter knife, so we got another server's attention, and were bought out steak knives. Our waitress' service left much to be desired. My dessert, the butter cake, however was delicious, I only had a few bites because I was stuffed. As other reviewers pointed out, I do hope for a stricter, more enforced dress code in the future. Some people were a bit too casual which takes away the ambience of this type of establishment. Unfortunately, I have no photos to share, because our food was that good, so we were too busy eating it lol. I would definitely return to OP, without hesitation and just hope for a better (more attentive) server. read more

My wife and I celebrated 20 years of marriage on June 21, 2017. We were blessed to dine at Ocean Prime last evening and it could not have been a better experience. We made reservations and were immediately welcomed and seated. We had the privilege of being waited on by Caesar who shared or experience with us. He made wonderful recommendations gave us top shelf service and provided the kind of care and affirmation you hope to receive on such a special evening. We had the Chilean Sea Bass, Filet Mignon topped with Lobster Gratin (whoa it was awesome); creamed spinach and to top it off had the warm Butter Cake. The butter cake was the best desert we have had in any restaurant in 20 years. It was delightful. If you are in DC downtown and need a place to celebrate and enjoy. Go see Caesar at Ocean Prime, you will not be disappointed. read more

We have been twice. Food was wonderful both times, but they are lacking in service. Even the manager walked past our table but never acknowledge us, but stopped and spoke with other tables around us. The bus boys did more than the waitstaff so we made sure to tip them directly. read more

4 Star Restaurant with the worse fake uppity, classless, servers with tasteless behavior. The little boy/little girl with the boy cut (not sure what is was) is the ruddest server ever. For the prices $$$ I expected more. Ocean Prime need to do better with choosing their staff. read more

Not a cheap dinner but Absolutely delicious! Grouper was fantastic as well as the Chilean SeaBass. You must also try the Chocolate Cake for dessert. I also suggest you get the Mango sorbet and mix a slight amount of the sorbet with the cake instead of the vanilla ice cream it comes with. Also, Warren was by far one of the best servers we have ever experienced. So knowledgeable and friendly. Explained everything on the menu into detail with a smile and was very helpful with suggestions. Five stars for sure! read more

Just had an amazing lunch for a departing team member here! They gave us a great table for the occasion, didn't rush us in or out of the restaurant, and the food was amazing! They even let me go off menu for my salad! The blackened snapper was just the right amount of spicy. I also watched the wait staff and manager attend to a particularly fussy customer with grace and kindness. Love the ambiance! read more

Our dinner was absolutely amazing. Appetizers, dinner and dessert. They were all extraordinary. Calamari, deviled eggs, salad, steak and sorbet. We will definitely be back again and bring friends. Everything we ate this restaurant tasted excellent! The service was great. Our waiter Dwayne made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended!

Ocean Prime was fantastic. The service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. I normally don't order a steak at seafood restaurants, but this steak was just as good as the top notch steakhouses in DC. I ordered the 12 OZ Bone in Filet with the Blue Cheese Crust. Absolutely delicious. My date had the Blackened Snapper which she raved about. Great food and Great service. I'll be back soon. read more

Didn't want to wait for over an hour at ebbitt grill... Walked down the street a little and only waited a few minutes at the bar until they were open for dinner. We ordered our drinks and started with their oysters. Have to say these were some of the best oysters I've ever had and I'm usually not an oyster guy. I had the salmon and I immediately fell in love with it. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Our server Rachel was amazing for putting up with our antics and her recommendations were spot on. Will be going back again. Highly recommend if you love seafood. read more

Everyone we encountered was great! The hostesses worked with me as I was late for my reservation, but we were still able to be sat at a high top at the bar. That worked out perfectly. Then, our server, Jax, was amazing! She overheard me say something about mushrooms when I was talking about an appetizer, and asked if I wanted them excluded from my entree, which I didn't realize would have them in it. I thought that was wonderful of her to ask. Even the other wait staff were very nice - the guys who brought out the food and took away our plates when we were done. I loved this experience! I will be back. Oh, and the food was SOOOO good! read more

This was my 2nd visit to Ocean Prime and it was nothing like I expected. Granted it was Mother's Day, but it wasn't even that busy. We were sat in a dark, cold corner, directly under the AC vent. Quite uncomfortable for my older patents. If that wasn't bad enough, this little table we were at, rocked the entire time. I was sooo nervous that something would fall over. This was definitely not the Mother's Day experience I was looking for. I had to hold the table with one hand while trying to eat with the other. Definitely not becoming of a noted 5-star restaurant with pretty steep prices. If I wanted to hold my table while eating I could have went to a fast food joint. The service was very slow, and I often felt like we were forgotten. We sat at the table a while before even being offered a drink. We asked for straws, never received them. My fathered ordered a coke and I think it came as the good was being placed on the table. Ocean Prime was a restaurant I'd proudly brag about to my friends, but I cannot do that today. Not sure when I'll return read more

My classmates and I try out new places during every restaurant week, so this time we picked ocean prime. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and since I wasn't floored by the options, scallops (not a fan) and teriyaki salmon (I'm not into teriyaki sauce), I chose the steak. Yes, I know you're thinking who orders steak in a seafood restaurant. Anyway, the salad was extremely tasty, but we felt like they gave us the restaurant week lettuce (read: not the greenest or freshest). I enjoyed it a lot, but can only imagine how much better it would have been with fresher greens. My steak was over cooked, but the manager brought out a shrimp cocktail to apologize for the inconvenience and allow me to start eating with my friends. I thought it was a really nice touch, especially since I was super hungry. The second steak was delicious. I could have done without the demi glacé, but it was tasty nonetheless. I'd come back to ocean prime to try out some of the non restaurant week seafood options, but overall, the food was good and the night was enjoyable. read more

I dined for the first time at Ocean Prime during Restaurant Week. The ambiance was eloquent, and the food was outstanding. My waiter, D'Wayne, was extremely informative and polite. I ordered the sea scallops, which by the way, were THE BEST I'VE EVER TASTED!!!!!! The salad had goat cheese, thinly sliced granny smith apples, walnuts, cranberries and a vinaigrette dressing (YUMMERS)! For dessert, I had the carrot cake. Overall, I was totally impressed!! The menu is incredibly pricey, but you pay for QUALITY FOOD and QUALITY SERVICE. I will surely be back and definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone :-) read more
