So where do I start... let me just say this... from beginning to end our dining experience at Ocean Prime was exceptional! We made reservations for a Friday evening... when we arrived we were greeted and seated. We started off the night with their signature berry bubbles drink. The drinks are quite tasty... no their freaking amazing!!!! Dinner we had crab cakes, filet and the chillean sea bass. Sides: creamed spinach, truffle Mac n cheese and a baked potato. No complaints on any of our food choices. I seriously don't think you can wring with any food option. Our waiter Andrew was the best. He made our friends extra birthday special with a complimentary dessert. Overall Ocean Prime is one of the best restaurants in DC. Will definitely be back soon!!!! read more

Excellent food and the best service I've ever had in an establishment. Me and my Girlfriend went for her birthday and they gave us complimentary champagne and a bread pudding! It was amazing I had a great night. read more

I am currently dining at ocean prime for my friend's birthday and the service is subpar. The waitress has barely spoken to us, has yet been to check on us and provides very little overall customer service. But there is a table beside us that has been given all the time, energy, and respect of the waitress. It leads me to wonder if the color of our skin has anything to do with the subpar service. We have been waiting at every change of service from drink orders, appetizers, and even down to entrees. When questioned about the menu very little interaction or feedback was provided. I would have not come to this establishment if it was not feasibly affordable for my lifestyle. I am very disappointed and have been wanting to come here for months but am very dismayed. Albeit the food is nothing short of amazing but the service is less than acceptable. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE. leaving it here under 5 stars so that everyone can see it :). I am going to get into the point, the service was lousy and slow. The bar tenders were rude and cold. My friend ended up leaving his cell phone and a piece of jewelry at the table when he went to the bathroom. He comes back to see the phone and the gold jewelry missing. We did NOT receive the help we needed at all. The customer service was rude, PREJUDICE, AND DISCRIMINATORY. I will never be returning to this establishment again nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. Do your selves a favor a go to the bygone instead. much better!!! read more

Absolutely amazing. It is pricey but definitely worth it. The service was excellent and I recommend the drink with the dry ice. It was a 5/5 I cannot wait to go back. read more

Ocean Prime - Seafood Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I really think these guys have the best steak in Washington DC. The way they prepare their steak is just to die for. I don't know whatever it is they actually use but they always tend to blow my taste buds away. Keep up with the great work guys. read more

Food is good. Service not terrible, but not close to other fine dinning, I found myself waiting for the waiter twice. Also valet should be free if you have a reservation. Otherwise good place. read more

Well I guess my expectations weren't met at all. Let me start by saying I was just there for happy hour and I sat at the bar. The food was great (the lobster rolls and fried shrimp were excellent) but I didn't get the vibe at all. Not once did I get a welcoming smile, nod or even a hello from the bartenders. What's going on here? I'm dressed well. Spent a good bit of money. But yet I felt very unwelcome. I can't help but feel that there is some sort of bias going on here. I'm giving it two stars because the happy hour food was very good. But based on the service...I was treated as an unwelcome guest by most of the staff. Someone in management needs to address this. read more

Great food, the server was personable and very nice. It's a mix between fancy and casual with lobster mashed potatoes, truffle Mac n Cheese, and jalapeños au groton. Highly recommend the surf and turf appetizer. read more

Came across the place while strolling through DC with my wife. Inside decor is fantastic, service excellent as was the food. Would recommend it tand will be back should I visit DC again. read more

Easy to spot off 14th. Inside is comfortable and quaint with low chairs and an old world feel. Knowledgable service, sweet cocktails and savoury seafood are part of the experience. The scallops are good and the fixed price menu at $35 is a nice deal. read more

Visited for lunch and the food, dessert, service and atmosphere was good. Ordered several appetizers and main dish was Chilean Sea Bass.

Excellent food. Excellent service. Highly recommended. Went there to celebrate a birthday. We were greeted as soon as we walked into the door. From then on nothing but first class service. read more

Absolutely delicious with the excellent service! I highly recommend the ravioli appetizer! A flavor explosion! The Grouper dish was DELISH!

I always like to try "nice" steakhouses on my birthday. This year was Ocean Prime was selected for this year. It was excellent, I had the 10 oz filet with lobster mash and asparagus. The sushi selection they had was very nice and fit the menu well, the don't skimp on the lobster. Try the "berries and bubbles" cocktail, it's their staple drink and well deserved. read more

Met 7 friends for Restaurant Week but went rogue and ordered from the regular menu and was I glad I did! Even though I had my ribeye well done it was so moist and flavorful! I had a salad and a side of Brussel sprouts. The Brussel sprouts were perfection. I don't drink or eat sugar so I can't give a firsthand account of those but our table went wild for a bubbling berry drink! It looks like a science project but they gave it high marks as they did for the Frozen Black Orchid. Everyone who had dessert had the carrot cake which they said was a disappointment. Not that it was bad but didn't live up to the hype. We were all here for the first time and left full and happy. Diamond was our server and he was on point! Got everything right the first time! Highly recommend. read more

Omg I have awesome friends! Had another birthday dinner last night at ocean prime, first time here for all 4 of us... and ambience, food, service... everything was on point! We ordered: shellfish tower - this is make your own, you pick what goes in the tower. They bring it out as a beautiful piece of art! We picked dozen oysters from east coast, lobster, and king crab legs. Portion we ordered was perfect for 4 people appetizer. Oysters were one of the best I had! Not grimey or no fishy after taste, just fresh and sweet. Entrees - 12oz ribeye, 10oz filet mignon, shellfish salad, and my yellowfin tuna. Flawless! ...although after the seafood tower presentation, entree presentation looked a bit toned down haha And I forgot to take pic of my tuna... because I was too excited to see all the food! We did order a salad to share, and I think the server thought we ordered it as a side dish... it was brought out with all the entrees. Actual side dishes - truffle mac & cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. You can really taste the truffles! After dinner we had couple drinks at the bar. Good sized rectangular bar, with tv's all around. Our bartender, Hever, provided us with top notch service to make my birthday extra special :) we'll definitely be back for more! read more

Really good food, steak was ok we've had better BUT the snapper was to die for! Calamari was ok, a little heavy on the sauce so they weren't as crispy but the roasted Brussels sprouts were amazing. I live their pretzel bread... It can be very busy and chaotic near the bar, but once you enter the restaurant side its very intimate and quiet... I'd eat here again... Oh yeah how could I leave out the warm butter cake dessert, OMG you must try and have it! Shit is beyond amazing (sorry for cussing, but it's that good) read more

The food is absolutely amazing. The scallops and risotto melt in your mouth. The bread is divine. The crab cake sliders and fish tacos during happy hour are simply delicious. Lastly, I love the hand-crafted cocktails! I keep going back! read more

I love this place. Blackened salmon salad is perfectly good with delicious poppyseed dressing. Took 2 servers and a bus boy to get some hot tea but the food made up for it. read more

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to! The food, ambiance, and service were all on point. We had the ribeye, filet mignon, lobster mashed potatoes and truffle macaroni and cheese. I wasn't impressed with my steak at all. I've made better steaks. Mine tasted like a hockey puck. I don't want to come back here. The sushi was also horrible. I did enjoy the brussel sprouts and parmesan fries, however. read more

By far one of my favorite spots ! I think I paid this place a visit about 4 times in the last month - excellent food and drinks . Bartenders are awesome along with wait staff ! Overall wonderful experience , food and drinks that never disappoint . A lot of nicer restaurants in dc can sell you on ambience, but few have ambience and awesome food! This place is where you should go for lunch, dinner or happy hour and you will pleased you did ! read more

I went for dinner on 12/2 and was so excited for the scallops. We searched high and low in the city for a place that had them. The menu and also had good reviews on Yelp. After all the research we went, beautiful place. Awesome waiter. Had the scallops only to get home and get food poisoning. read more

Tens across the board! Amazing service. Amazing food. Diamond made our private dining experience very comfortable and we can't stop talking about what outstanding service we received from every single staff member. We will definitely be returning soon. read more

Love this restaurant. I've been for dinner 3 times in the past month or so. Exquisite flavor and extensive menu options, and very nice ambiance. The carrott cake literally puts the icing on the cake! Lol. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because they refuse to enforce the dress code. Some of the guests' attire bring the ambiance down and turn an otherwise classy and elegant dining experience into a more average one. You have a dress code policy on the wall; enforce it! (I'll still be back though!) read more

Everything about this restaurant was great, except for the 2 young ladies standing at the front greeting customers, I was entering the restaurant with a bouquet of balloons, clearly struggling and they just stood there watching me struggle - trying to get through the door .. SMDH; however, the food, the service, the atmosphere was top notch!!! I had the Chilean Sea Bass .. OMG!!! the best; you must try one of their signature cocktails - Bubbles and Berries, so good!! read more

Made a last minute reservation for a same-day lunch after Sequoia restaurant canceled on me. Me and the lady ordered the Point Judith Calamari and the Surf n Turf for appetizers and the 14oz New York strip and teriyaki salmon for entrees. Bruh. Food shouldn't be tasting this good. Now I see how people can get addicted to eating. My steak ordered medium was cooked to epic perfection. Edges were seared properly and the flavor..... You can't make this stuff up. That steak was THE best I have ever tasted. No lie. Salmon was def on 1000. I would eat here again. Recommended for those who has a special someone worth balling out on dinner for. Lol read more

Darnell should be fired! First it took me 3 calls to even get a call back to make a reservation for 10 people. The host continued to insist I speak to Darnell as groups of ten go in private rooms. When I finally got Darnell on the phone we reviewed the private room on line and I did not like it. It was a narrow conference room with a TV at the end. I told her this was a family function not a business dinner. She said we could be accommodated in the main dining room as long as we did not exceed 10 people. I called the week before our arrival to confirm they had the reservation and that it was in the main dining room. Darnell assured me it was. The day of our celebration the restaurant called to confirm our 6pm arrival for 10 in the private room. I explained to her it was in the main dining room and she said ok and ended the call. Upon arrival we were escorted to a private room across from the bathroom. It was a mess that left ten of us crowded in a hall way while I was being told that there was no other option. They finally brought the GM over who insulted me by saying he would waive the food and beverage minimum due to the "confusion". I told him the confusion is with multiple members of his staff. We said the only other option what a table in a small dining room off the main room. The room was super hot and everyone at our table as well as another couple In the room said it was an uncomfortable temperature for a meal. They brought a glass of champagne for the table on the house. I only mention because I felt it would be an unfair representation of the restaurant if I didn't. Personally it meant nothing to us; had they skipped it the review would be exactly the same. Our waiter, Brian, was excellent and did a nice job of trying to turn the evening around. The calamari was ok a bit chewy but good flavor. Frankly we all would have had individual appetizers but we were rattled and upset by the standing around for 30 mins prior to getting a table. By the time we were seated the excitement over the menu was gone. My husband had been eyeing the king crab or lobster with a steak since we chose the restaurant. By the time we were ordering I saw he ordered a steak and nothing else. I asked why and he said, "I just want to get out of here!". I ordered several sides for the table just because no one was interested any longer. The creamed spinach was excellent as was the corn. The Brussel sprouts were flavorful but way too hard. The asparagus was ok and the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. From the 10 of us there were two rack of lamb that were excellent. The rest were all filet and NY strip steaks. From the seven steaks 3 were cooked as requested. My medium strip was well done and Luke warm when served. The drinks were amazing and the best part of the meal. For desert 8 had them and they were ok. It's a shame that due to personnel our family celebration was ruined. We wanted this to be our "go to" place when we are in town and now we will not return. The city has too many options to settle for this poorly run restaurant when the food was overall just ok. read more

I DO NOT understand the rave reviews about this place. Like someone else who left a 5-star review sit down with me and explain to me your reasoning. Are you a robot? Probably. Hostesses in the front are the most unwelcoming people. Now this can be excusable, but when you're a seafood place and your seafood is miserable, that's another story. We ordered the grouper- it was overlooked and tasteless. We also ordered a steak that was salted to oblivion. Sides were mediocre at best (they burned fries... THEY BURNED FRIES!!! How dare they). Decor is nice but I'm very confused about the vibe they're going for. People came in with jeans and shorts on but it looks like an upscale restaurant. Just confused by it all. Most redeeming factor was that our waiter was very pleasant and great so it kept us from sending everything back and getting up. It's also the only reason I'm giving it an extra star, because he was great. Was it worth $200 for a meal? Absolutely not, never in a million years. Save your money, McDonald's doesn't usually burn their fries. At half capacity on a Friday night, this place won't last long. read more

The food was good but I'm not quite sure it was worth the price. I also wasn't too impressed with the quality of the wait staff. They seemed inexperienced - as though they've never waited at a high end restaurant before. The sommelier didn't seem to be well versed with the wine list and therefore was not very helpful. I don't want to seem mean about it because it really wasn't too bad but my fiancé and I expected a bit more out of the restaurant due to the price and ambiance they're trying to go with. read more

AVOID DINNER IN THE BAR. We were seated in the bar area which is sub-Prime. Our server was absent and erred repeatedly with our orders. We poured our own wine from a $175 bottle. I was forced to request a fork from the bartender to eat my entree which sat waiting while I wondered where our server had disappeared to. The food is tasty but overpriced. Avoid eating dinner in the bar - no table cloth, poor service, ho-hum ambiance. read more
