This place is expensive... My wife and I expected that. What we did not expect was men dressed in t shirts and baseball caps, and women showing their breasts everywhere we looked. We did not expect the terrible service, or the mediocre food. We did not expect the valet to refuse to provide a receipt for my $20 cash payment, or to have him confront me as I complained to my wife about it. But what I REALLY didn't expect was the managers attitude when I told him about the valet, as he asked me where I was from, and proceeded to school me about "the way things work in the big city". I've had better service at McDonalds! Bottom line is, there are many, many better options in and below this price range to deal with this BS read more

The impeccable service pushed my review to 4 stars, however, the food is more of a 3-3.5 star rating. We shared the ahi tuna tartare, which was my favorite of everything I had. The Hamachi crudo was average at best. The flavor was confusing and the fish itself was fishy. I've had great Hamachi and it shouldn't taste like that. For entrées, we had the 6oz filet with whipped potatoes and green beans. We asked for medium, but it came out medium rare so they took it back to get it right. Again, service was great. Housemade Lemonade was awesome too! read more

Here on opening night. I've been to most of the nice steakhouses in DC, and this one is at or near the top of the list. Live music, impeccable service, and delicious food make this is a pretty great experience. I had an 8 oz filet au poivre. For sides, I'd recommend the jalapeño au grautin. Ok so this place was disappointing. I ventured here because of restaurant week plus I was searching for a spot to celebrate an upcoming birthday this weekend. After this experience, I'm staying far away. I came alone as usual since that's what single people do and I wanted to be seated in the main dining area instead of the bar, but I got an eye roll from the hostess for my dining room request so I opted for the bar. I should have just walked out at that point. Now I'm seated at the booth in the bar. They took forever to even bring water. Great. Here we go. Finally, I get water, popcorn and a drink. (Whiskey Clover) As I don't have a penis swinging between my legs or a drunken redhead screaming about a miscarriage (yes miscarriage, I can tell you how she found out, how far along she and what happened when her significant other arrived) and failed life, I obviously didn't receive their top notch service. Especially, the man that was across from me, the bartender was practically bending over back wards for him, yet I can't get a water refill. Outstanding. He must have had some big dick energy or something who knows. On top of this, my steak was over cooked. I asked for medium rare but it came out close to medium well. Seriously!!! Oh yea, that crappy service, it took awhile for the bartender to come over and acknowledge the issue. Once she was finally aware, I got a new steak quickly. I'm not going to waste any more words on this place. I'm giving more energy to this place than they gave me. Unless I'm forced to go here for a work function, I will NOT be returning. read more

A group of us were here for a conference and decided to have a nice night out. We made reservations at Ocean Prime and boy oh boy did it not disappoint. The food and drinks were on point and our server, Kellen was even more on point than our food. If you plan on coming to the spot, ask to have Kellen as your server. We were in town from California and were quite impressed with the establishment and service. Try the salted caramel martini! You'll be presently surprised. I'd also recommend the bread pudding over the butter cake! Again, on the recommendation from our server Kellen! read more

Food. AMAZING! Kellen, SERVICE AMAZING!! Highly recommend this place. Been to many steak/seafood restaurants, this one was top two. Ask to be seated in Kellen's section. read more

4.5 stars Enjoyed a lovely meal with a companion the week of Thanksgiving. Our server, Edwin, was knowledgable and pleasant. The restaurant was quiet and decorated nicely; we enjoyed the peace and quiet...something we've had difficulty finding this week in D.C. We recommend the shrimp tempura roll appetizer, crab cake entree and filet. Cocktails were superb. read more

2nd time was great as well. Arrived early, well beyond reservation time so we sat at bar. Hostess still sat us before res time. We are some apps at bar whole we waited. Food tasted amazing just like 1st time. I indulge in the crab cake for my app. My wife and son had the shrimp apps which also were great. We then got sat at our table and had dinner. The wife and I had the sea bass and my son had the lobster. INCREDIBLE presentation and timely arrival. I think food could have been a little warmer in my opinion but still was warm. Great Mother's day outing. read more

You get what you pay for.. out in DC for the evening with a couple of friends, decided to get a table here and check out their food. I am very pleased I did. I actually had a cocktail and the crab cakes along with the mushrooms. I must admit was definitely wowed. I figured this would be a place where you spend all your money and don't actually get a good amount of food, but I was wrong. Definitely would come back and recommend! read more

Ocean Prime - Seafood Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Was in DC on 7/9/21. Initially went to Old Ebbitt Grill for crab cake entree. Was disappointed to learn that it was removed from the menu. From experience, I knew Ocean Prime had a decent crab cake so ventured there. My meal was to go, therefore ordered at the bar. Both the hostess and bartender were extremely pleasant and helpful. The restaurant was pretty busy so placing order did take a little while. The bartender's demeanor more than made up for the wait. I reviewed the menu and realized that the crab cake was on their starters menu on the lunch menu, so opted for the burger as I really wanted an entree. Order went downhill from there. I placed an order for a burger and clearly stated that I wanted it well done, absolutely no pink. Returned to my office and came back to pick up my burger about 25 minutes later. Returned to the office, bit into the burger and found raw meat and oozing blood. Ok mistakes happen. I called the restaurant, was transferred to the bar. Bartender apologized profusely explained that she requested well done so wasn't sure why it wasn't cook as desired. Offered to give me a refund but after remembering that I paid cash, said that she couldn't. I was still hungry and by this time lunch time had come and gone. I instead opted for a redo. I mean the chef couldn't get the wrong temperature twice in a row, right? WRONG! I waited another 25 minutes, went to pick up the 2nd burger, got it back to my desk, cut into and once again, the meat was raw on the inside. Disgusted, I tossed the $24 dollar burger (cost plus tip) in the trash and gave up on lunch for the day. I have been to Prime on multiple occasions and this was the first time I was dissatisfied. Not sure that I would write Prime off completely, but definitely wouldn't do the burger again and will stay away from carry out if I can. read more

Went the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Service was fine and attentive. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly and the potatoes au gratin had a little kick from the jalapeño. I wouldn't waste your calories on the bread. It was very generic and tasted like it came from Costco and reheated, but was edible. Their cocktails were well-crafted. read more

I went last year for my birthday and I'm making reservations today for my birthday this year! Better than Ruth's Chris. Steak sizes are generous and very tender. The sides were also wonderful and I appreciate that the waiter told us they could be ordered in half orders. We will be back! read more

Hard not to give a 4 star review but the experience matters as much as food at these prices. First, the food was fantastic. Had sea bass and started with the ravioli. Wow! Ordered the manhattan off the drink menu and I never do that but I'm glad I did. Super. When I got service it was very good. I sat at the bar and mostly had the same bartender all night. He helped me navigate the menu and make good decisions. Oh, and he made the great manhattan. The problem was how long it took to get service. Neither the bar nor restaurant were very busy but the guys were just kind of hanging or walking by when I wanted to order or ask a question. Lasltly, the place feels tired. Old decor, feels like the 80s but not in a charming or nostalgic way. Bottom line - want a great meal and a great cocktail - come to Ocean Prime. Just don't expect 5 star service or a fresh appealing ambiance. read more

My boyfriend and I were in town for the night with his parents, staying at the JW Marriott down the street. We were looking for a place to grab a drink and ended up staying for dinner. The bartenders were friendly and kept our bowl of popcorn full while we sipped on wine and waited for a table to open up. All of the entrees were delicious but my scallops stole the show. Great service, beautiful decore and ambiance but the food is the true star at Ocean Prime. This is fine dining at its best - I would highly recommend this to anyone who is in DC, you will not be disappointed! read more

Ocean prime has great food. Although, I think for the price they serve and the quality of their food do not match. Still enjoyable and if someone ever wanted to come back for dinner & such I wouldn't mind! i'm changing my rating to 5 stars because i forgot to incorporate that their customer service is amazingggggg read more

My girlfriend and I had reservations here last Friday at 915 PM. We called around 9 to let them know we may be up to 15 minutes late and we're repeatedly told if we were more than 15 minutes late we would lose our table. The girl that answered the phone named Lyss or Liss was nasty the entire conversation and for a $200 or more dinner I expected to be treated better. Due to how rude she was on the phone we changed our Uber and went elsewhere. read more

I enjoy this restaurant. Food was delicious I had the crab cakes with sushi (Dynamite Roll). My boyfriend had Teriyaki salmon. For the sides we had the truffle Mac & cheese with asparagus. Portion size is generous. I would recommend this place. read more

Had a wonderful dinner here this week. The restaurant is beautiful. The service is friendly and prompt. The food was wonderful. I had a portion of multiple appetizers, of which my favorite were the crab cakes (a bit spicy and served with a delicate corn salad) and the calamari (some of the best I've had anywhere.) I had a filet mignon but also tried the scallops. Both were delicious. My steak was a little rarer than I anticipated but the kitchen promptly fixed it, so no complaints. I cannot comment on the cocktails as I had wine. I recommend this place for everything from date nights to treating yourself to a nice dinner after work. I'll be back for sure. read more

So I would give this a 3.5 stars rating, but the excellent customer service pushes this to 4 stars. We ordered the grouper, the Chilean seabass, and a couple of sides of broccoli and truffle mac & cheese. We went for the 10-layer carrot cake for dessert. The grouper was over-cooked while the seabass was perfect! I can't express enough how well the staff treated us. I just love a restaurant that gets this right! read more

I am on the fence about whether to give Ocean Prime 4 or 5 stars. My first experience was exceptional, and the second was just average. Overall, the food and ambiance is great. For sides, I would recommend the lobster mac and cheese, and the creamed spinach. read more

How many times in one's life do you get to talk about 'smoking shrimp cocktail' arriving to your table! Me? Never. This experience was a first. My performing shrimp were just the tip of the 'dry ice/liquid nitrogen' iceberg if you will. My wine selections were exquisite, my Restaurant Week 'fish and chips' deal made with Red Snapper (no not Cod), served with my lobster slaw made for one of my most memorable culinary visits to DC. I always expect something great from our Capital City when I visit so this trip did not disappoint. read more

Reservation was made nearly 2 weeks in advance for our Saturday night dinner, booth preferred noted on the reservation. Ended up with the table closest to the kitchen which is a stone's throw from the restrooms. There were plenty of booths available. Some of which were still not occupied by the time we left. We saw every...single...waiter before cocktails were ordered. Ordered our cocktail and our waiter was ready to take our entire dinner order. Mind you, water was barely poured at this point. Manhattan ordered. Not sure why it's in a champagne tulip glass and barely of substance/volume. $15 for not much. Don't waste your calories on the bread basket. The pretzel log was hard and impossible to eat. The white bread, mediocre at best. Lobster roll (sushi) was next. Good enough. The tuna was good. I'm just confused by the butter sauce it was placed on. For the level /price point this restaurant places itself on, I would expect some dress code. A woman walked by in workout leggings, Uggs, a shirt. A lot of men in ripped jeans and polo shirts. Beautifully decorated but I came for the food. Service was good. read more

So we came here on our last night in DC and it turned out the place was fully booked because they have restaurant week (similar to dineout Vancouver) going. We got seats at the bar anyway and proceeded to order a three course meal for 35 $. We were all very satisfied. I had French Onion soup, which was good, a bit too thick, but delicious nonetheless. Main course was filet, which was good. My friends had scallops which were also good. Dessert was bread pudding and carrot cake. The cake was perfect, but the pudding felt a bit too set. Drinks - A manhattan, beer, and black orchid were all boozy and gratifying. Overall good experience. The place is pricy and what we paid was a great deal. Everyone but us were dressed to T, yet that did not affect our service which is a good thing. I would return when in town to try the a la carte menu. Good job! Though it would have been nice to serve bread to us on the bar as we ordered a full dinner, same as you did for those on tables. read more

Okay at best. The menu is varied, the service pretty good and the ambiance pleasant enough. But for a steak and seafood house in a business district, the food just ought to be better...and more like what's on the menu. Steaks I've had are decent but nothing to write home about. A Spicy Tuna Poke on the menu was served as a barely fiery tartar with a both raw and cooked fish. Not terrible. But not great either. The bread basket with pretzel bread is pretty good...but service had a few slip-ups on a recent visit. A friend, eating a dish that required a knife, wasn't offered one and had to borrow mine. Not really excusable. Not recommended. read more

We went out for a Sunday dinner and had a great time. The atmosphere was excellent. A quiet class is what I would call it. Our waiter Justin was great, he kind of looked like our son. He didn't mind our substitution even on there Sunday Surf and Turf special. I highly recommend this because the food was plentiful and the price was more than reasonable. The pace of the meal was perfect and the food delicious. A definite place you should go. read more

First time at this location, and I'm so glad it didn't miss. Got the lamb chops, teriyaki salmon, scallops, king crab legs, Dynamite Roll (sushi), and Chilean sea bass with some sides. All of it was amazing and I'm glad to have finally found a notable seafood restaurant in DC. The only dish that left me wishing for more was the Sea Bass, the consistency was there in terms of texture, but the flavor wasn't. The salmon though!! A complete hit across the whole table! Every aspect of that dish blew me away, highly recommend. The Dynamite Roll was also one of my favorites on the table if you feel for sushi, I think I'm willing to go out on a ledge and it's my favorite sushi I've ever had. Definitely will be back! read more

This place makes me feel like a celebrity. I've been to Ocean Prime twice before but I had a reservation last week for a girls night out with my mom and sister and they were amazed! I obviously started off with my favorite Instagram-worthy drink Berries & Bubbles (too cool). For appetizers we ordered the Calamari- it was my first time trying it, very good. For dinner we ordered the 10 oz Filet with Béarnaise, Halibut and of course the 16 oz Ribeye WITH GARLIC SHRIMP SCAMPI (a must). For dessert our waiter recommended the creme brûlée and ten layer carrot cake- both amazing. The service here is exceptional, everyone is very welcoming and I will definitely be back again! read more

I surprised my husband with dinner here to celebrate his birthday and everything was simply amazing. I called a couple of days prior to make the reservation and let them know that we would be celebrating his birthday. As soon as we arrived, the hostess acknowledged his birthday and made him feel so special. Once seated at our table, we were immediately given menus and asked what type of water we would like. Shortly after, our server came over and surprised us with champagne in celebration of my husband's birthday (such a nice touch!). We had the surf and turf appetizer and shared the lobster bisque soup. I ordered the teriyaki salmon for my entrée and he ordered the blackened snapper. Everything tasted super fresh and yummy! Also, our server Edwardo did a great job at explaining the menu and making suggestions for us. Edwardo ended our night with the best butter cake I've ever had in my life! In all, we definitely plan to return. There were so many other great options on the menu and I can't wait to try them all! read more

Being a huge fan of seafood, I had to check out Ocean Prime for DC Restaurant Week. This was an easy train ride on the Redline which was already a win for me! Walking in I took note of the ambiance which was a mix between romantic but business chic. I can dig it. I was greeted by a hostess and host then escorted to my table which my friend was already waiting. I was 15mins late so thank goodness that they are flexible with their grace period. To start we were presented with all the menus; regular, Restaurant Week and the wine list. I was famished and by the looks of the menu this was a place that you go to celebrate something special! ($$$$$) I graciously accepted the RW menu (which I already checked out earlier in the day). Our waiter said that he would give us to time to review the menu which we used to catch up on each other's day. When he returned we put in our orders and munched on the pretzel bread and our ice waters. As tired as we were we opted out of drinking that night. To start I ordered the French onion soup. Being the foodie that I am, I have had this dish many times, including in Paris! Yes, the one in Paris at this cute mom and pop shop was the best in the land but this was a close second (in line with my homemade of course). Their It was really rich and cheesy; just the way that I like it. While all the versions I have had were with gruyere cheese, OP uses aged swiss cheese. It was pretty darn good. They also add brandy which gave it a subtle kick. Presentation was tempting and simple. Perfection. My entree was the sea scallops and parmesan risotto dish. This came with English peas and citrus vinaigrette. I decided to spruce it up and add the shrimp scampi "accessories" option for an up-charge. Well something must has crossed the communication lines because my scallops and shrimp came out but no risotto. The same thing happened to my friend who's scallops came out with the Oscar style accessories but no risotto. I figured maybe the waiter had too much and it was coming after so we sat...and sat...then we saw some other scallops dishes come out with the risotto on the bottom as was anticipated and realized that there was some confusion. We called our waiter over and he said that he thought we did not want the risotto. We clarified that we wanted the risotto but with the accompaniments that we chose. He apologized and ran back to the kitchen. A few minutes later he said that the risotto was in the works and would be out soon; so we sat... I wanted to eat my risotto with my seafood. It did not take too long but the risotto came out and we were able to enjoy our meal. It was still delicious but I was a bit put off because I was so excited for the beautiful presentation all the other scallops dishes had. At that point I was too hungry to request a whole new dish so I ate it. Thank goodness everything was delish. It helped me get over my mood in the best way possible. I was so stuffed that I could not even enjoy my dessert option which was the cinnamon roll bred pudding with a side of salted caramel ice cream (added for $2). I asked our waiter to please pack it up rather than bring it out and cancel the ice cream I had a taste of my friend's dessert which was the same. It was warm and gooey! Its been 3 days and I have not had it yet but I've got plans for it this week. I have been on a RW binge....no time to eat it! Anyway, despite my minor sad moment with my dish service was superb and the entire meal was delish. I definitely want to return for a special occasion or celebration dinner. Note to self: no additions! ;) read more

Excellent dinner for the price. Casual dress but formal dining experience. Nate gave the perfect advice and made meal very pleasurable.

Ocean Prime - Teriyaki Salmon. It was delicious. - Seafood Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Amazing Meal AND Great Service AND Warm Atmosphere - the trifecta that can't be beat! My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner and had the best meal we've had in a While. We both had the surf&turf prix fixe option. He chose the Ceaser salad and the crab cake with truffle mac&cheese. I went with the french onion soup, scallops with my steak, and bacon spinach as my side. BACON SPINACH is an absolute MUST - whoever was the genius behind this dish deserve every accolade! The rest of the meal was on par as well - the filets were perfectly cooked to our order and tender, the red wine jus with my steak was perfectly complimented by the melting truffle butter that I added on. I couldn't even go for a desert (although the warm butter cake sounded scrumptious). Big Thanks to KYLE, our server, for the friendly and courteous, yet non-invasive, service and on point recommendations. He maintained a perfect balance between making us feel taken care of without being pushy. Overall - warm, cozy, comfortable, filling and delicious meal that we both are thankful for. read more
