The best steak and seafood I've had in the city. Actually worth every penny unlike many steakhouses around the city. I even had it delivered and it beat all steaks that I've in house. read more

We had an early dinner last night as work colleagues before departing DC to head home. We picked Ocean Prime and were so pleased we did. From the service (attentive without being overly so) to the food (just wow) we were all very happy with our experience. I had the Chilean sea bass which was perfectly prepared and seasoned and melt in my mouth delectable. It was a very generous portion and very flaky, served atop whipped potatoes and an amazing sauce--champagne truffle--I could have drank it out of a gravy boat. Everyone loved their entrees. The red snapper and the grouper were also highly recommended. We started with both east and west coast oysters on the half shell--so delicious! This was easily my best meal ever in DC. I've been here many times on business and I will return on my next trip. If I lived in DC it would be dangerous. read more

How in the world does this place have 4.5 stars?! The worst food and slowest service I have ever had at this price point. Waitstaff was literally standing around talking like they were by the water cooler in the office. I mean it's a full house go find something to do! Crab cakes....horrible and dry. I don't think it was crab at all. Filet Mignon...laughable... like we all laughed when it came out. Looked like a hamburger patty. Ribeye....THIS IS NOT A $51 RIBEYE! I'm actually pissed off at this point because now I'm thinking they think that DC diners are stupid. Creamy Risotto and Scallops.. . NO. Why is there uncooked onions and fresh cilantro on this?? Is this Chipotle???? Side dishes probably from Mrs Stoffer's in the Frozen Aisle. Listen to me...I don't know who is rating this place 4.5 but if you actually dine out at 5 star restaurants trust me this is NOT one of them. Synopsis: Never....Again. read more

I have eaten here before and the food and the staff are stellar. Love the atmosphere. I am writing to highly suggest anyone wanting to impress a date, friend, parent, whoever, to get the "Berries and Bubbles" drink. I am not typically a sweet drink type of gal. But, and this is a big BUT, I will go out of my way to go to Ocean Prime to get this drink. It is a work of science. First of all, they start off with dry ice...need I say more, yes, this is YELP. Then they put some type of brut champagne, vodka, I'm sure some kind of mix, and top it off with berries. You can't be anything but dope with this drink in front of you. It is definitely a conversation starter if you are riding solo. Definitely check this place out and get this drink. You are welcome! read more

This is the second time I've dined at Ocean prime and both times the food was very good. This time however we were seated in the bar and although it was a booth, it was extremely noisy. I believe this occurred because one of our party was delayed due to metro problems and they gave away our table. That doesn't mean we didn't enjoy our meal it was just very noisy. read more

This was the best experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The service with Warren made our experience even better with his suggestions on food and drinks and way he stayed mindful about the time we needed to leave by to make our show. The drinks were not only beautifully presented but also delicious. The food was out of this world being the best seafood I've had in a long time. The dishes were packed full of flavor yet the true flavors of the seafood was still present. We will definitely be visiting again in the future! read more

Service was 5 out of 5 very attentive and answered all of our questions. For some of the food it was 5 out of 5 other food was 1 or 2 out of 5. The sushi here is delicious especially the dynamite roll. I would order that as my meal if I were to go again. The sides are supposed to be shared between 4 people and I would say 2 is more appropriate. The crab cakes were salty and very dry. The ribeye, filet, and Kansas City strip were all delicious. The bearnaise sauce and the Oscar style sauce were lacking in flavor. The Brussel sprouts didn't really have much flavor, the asparagus was good but the hollandaise sauce was underwhelming. An okay choice, but there are many other options especially for the price we paid. read more

Ocean Prime is a new favorite of mine when it comes to upscale dining in downtown Washington DC. The restaurant is nicely decorated, the lighting is right, the space is well-used and the seating is very comfortable. The service is impeccable, and you can tell the staff are all well-trained. They want to talk to you about the menu, maybe a tad too much for my taste--but glad to know they know exactly what they are serving. The menu offers an amazing raw bar with some of the best oysters I've had in DC- and I've had my fair share! You can custom-build a seafood tower for your table if you are feeling fancy. The steaks here are stellar, and you can choose different crusts or sauces to accompany them. My favorite is the blue cheese crust. They also offer many fish selections including tuna and sea bass which come prepared nicely and are quite large. Though the entrees do not come with sides there is a big list of scrumptious sides to choose from. They are a bit pricy around $14, but they are a good sized portion and very yummy. The black truffle Mac and cheese is a must, the brussel sprouts will delight many and the jalapeño mashed potatoes are awesome for someone who likes a spicy kick. I found the dessert menu to be irresistible. Though we were all full after dinner, we couldn't resist ordering 3 desserts including the chocolate cake, blueberry lemon cheesecake and the peanut butter pie. These desserts are definitely meant for sharing, just one would have probably been enough for a table of 4. I'd definitely get the blueberry lemon cheesecake again, it was so so yummy and something I haven't seen on many dessert menus. Ocean Prime is a great selection when you are looking for an upscale restaurant downtown. read more

Ocean Prime - 6oz filet mignon with bearnaise! - Seafood Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I recently brought a party of 7 (plus a congressman) to this wonderful steak and seafood restaurant in downtown D.C., and we enjoyed outstanding service, good wine and great food. Our private room was comfortable and cozy -- the perfect environment for a business dinner, or just to talk politics with friends. We started with a fantastic calamari appetizer and a round of cocktails (the Bubbles & Berries may be the coolest drink I've ever seen poured into a glass), and then moved onto a selection of outstanding entrees. My Chilean Sea Bass was out of this world, cooked to perfection and topped with a Champagne Truffle sauce. The whipped potatoes on the side were equally fabulous. My colleagues all enjoyed their meals, which ranged from Bone-in Filets to Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. The other dishes around the table looked so good, I'll have to make a return trip to try out more of the menu. I finished my meal with an incredible Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake and a last glass of wine from the fantastic bottle of Malbec we ordered for the table. Ocean Prime is one of the best restaurants I've dined at in D.C., and one that'll be back on my list for future visits. read more

Oh how I LOVE this place. Every time I go to an Ocean Prime, no matter what city it is in, I always receive top notch service, the food and drinks are delicious, and everyone has a wonderful time. We took the in laws here while they were in town. Everyone had the filet mignon with a variety of sides, all which were incredible. The cocktails were delicious and the dessert - the butter cake- was phenomenal! Can't wait to come back! read more

We have a group of couples that has gone out on new years eve every year for the past 20 years and this year we picked ocean prime. It was perfect. Let's start with what's really important..the food was excellent. A great variety of steaks and sea food. All options were real food with sides that you would actually order again...the table ordered a variety of everything on The menu...there were no complaints...the wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive. We didnt wait or want for anything very long....I am definitely going again to try some other items on the menu read more

This place was great. We happened to go on Sunday night and they a great surf and turf and wine special going on. Our party of 8 had awesome service from REBECCA! She was fun, attentive and knew the menu and wines inside our. We ordered lots of sides that we all shared. The steaks and seafood were great. The 10-layer Carrot Cake was a ridiculously good finish. Rebecca alone was worth dining there. read more

Great great food. The surf and turf appetizer is amazing. The truffle popcorn they give sometimes taste a little stale. The macaroni and cheese is phenomenal as well. I think they have really perfected the cheese noodle ratio. In the first few months of opening the macaroni lacked cheese. Downtown DC has various steakhouses to choose from and Ocean prime is definitely one to try. Ocean primes menu is extensive and their happy hour offers the same bar menu at a discounted price. The oysters and the lamb chops are a must have on the bar menu. Check them out from 5-7! read more

Came here for happy hour because of a recommendation from a friend of mine. They showed me a picture of the lamb chops and I was sold. I am sucker for lamb. I walked in and like the decor and atmosphere of the place. I meet the bartender Everett who indeed took great of me for my first hand happy hour experience at Ocean Prime. I order the lamb and when I took the first bite. They reminded me so much of when my grandma use to make them for me. Marinated well, juicy and tender. Superior... #OceanPrime Thank you Everett for great happy hour experience. read more

Came to splurge here for restaurant week. The ambience, food, and service were fabulous! Starters included French onion soup or a house salad (one of the best I've had for a while), and the main course scallops did not disappoint. Others at my table had the filet and loved it. I tried a bite of both desserts, the carrot cake and the bread pudding. If it HAD to pick one over the other, I would choose the bread pudding...overall a great experience-I'll definitely be back for the next special occasion. read more

I went to this restaurant for Winter Restaurant Week 2019 and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was great and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this spot for any special occasion or just a night out with the girls/guys. read more

This place is crazy good! Ambiance, impeccable service, decor, and of course the food. It all comes together for a wonderful and memorable dining experience. It was my first weekend out of town with the new lady in my life and fresh from experiencing the new National African American History and Cultural museum, I wanted to be sure that nothing could ruin the weekend, so I called Ocean Prime to be sure of my standing reservation that was made days ahead. Good to go! We arrived only minutes after our reservation time and found that there was quite a wait for our table. I didn't have a problem with it, until I noticed that it was approaching 45 minutes when we would have dinner. I've worked in food before and cool under pressure, I didn't sweat it. Once we were seated, all of my worries were faded as I looked around the venue and watched my lady grow with excitement at the thought of some great food after an amazing day in the Capital. We were so into the each other and the day we had that we didn't really take any time to just sit a little and observe. It was at that point that I noticed that my bourbon glass was extremely unclean. I hadn't had anything to make it that way, so we both looked at it like: "wow". At that very same "wow" moment, the manager Alicia, noticed us and quickly stepped in not only correcting the minor faux-pas, but also extending an apology with a complimentary dessert that was just the perfect "cherry on top". Food: Yes! * Service: Yes! * Venue/Bar: Yes! * Bourbon: Yes! read more

Where do I even start?! I have always loved this place for their Happy Hour, but I wasn't sure how they would handle a day-of 9 PM reservation for my 30th birthday... Needless to say, they gave me the experience that ones often dream about: Friendly attentive staff who anticipate your needs and make you feel as if you're the only patron in the restaurant. No one could tell me I wasn't VIP based on how special they made me feel. I placed the reservation online and called to let them know that this was a celebratory occasion as a heads up. When we arrived, I was greeted with by the friendly hostess', wished a Happy Birthday by the manager and was escorted to the beautiful dining room. Denise, our server, was kind, funny, and patient with my crew of chatty guest. She answered every.single.the question we had about the menu and gave us the best dining experience possible. Her suggestions were on point (the warm butter cake!), and she really made sure to accommodate everyone. #AskForHer Now, onto the food. I'm obsessed with the scallops and short braised rib small plate! It's a great portion for those who want something delicious but still plan on going out and being functional the rest of the night. I also got a Caesar salad to share with a friend. Other favorites at the table were the lobster bisque soup and the Brussels sprouts -- perfectly charred and sweet. I'll be coming back for the smoked gouda tater tots once I'm off my diet...#ForReal But yes, this was a magical evening. read more

So my husband and I went out on the town to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and we decided on Ocean Prime to have dinner on our special day. Upon arriving the doorman and the hostess were very nice & welcoming. We were seated right away. I noticed right away the ambience was nice & cozy. The service and the attentiveness was good. The food was a little bland but I actually appreciated the blandness of the food. It was refreshing to know the cook is preparing your meal consciously. My husband enjoyed his food very well. We both agreed that Ocean Prime is definitely a place we enjoyed very much and plan on visiting again. read more

Seated at the bar and bartender was courteous. Nice cold beer. Steak was cooked perfect. Nice place overall.

My experience was mediocre. But first the good: The service and ambiance were superb. The waitstaff were very attentive. The appetizers that we ordered were very flavorful. So, the bad: The steaks we ordered were bland. I had the Peppercorn topping on one and the blue cheese on the other. Both, did not help the overall flavor of the steak. I guess the bottom line is that there are plenty of decent high end steak places that Oceans Prime does not stand out. read more

Horrible customer service, waited an hour after being seated to get a menu and a ginger ale, to be frank I did not order food, tip the waiter well over $50 to be courteous when our drinks FINALLY came, management was extremely poor, blatantly racist and had no care for customers...in addition do not use valet, they lost my key, my car was parked right out front of the restaurant, the manager did not care l, he went home and did nothing to address this horrendous experience. EVERYTHING about this place was HORRID!!! Word 2 the wise.......Go spend your money elsewhere read more

This place was great. Worth giving it a try if you like fine dining. I ordered the Sea Bass with a truffle cream sauce and it was very savory. I also had the truffle Mac and cheese which in my opinion was a little over powered with the Truffle, but I still enjoyed it. All in all, you get what you pay for with this place, and its always a pleasant experience when I can enjoy a meal not having to use any salt or pepper to add flavor. read more

On the look out for a Non-Chain steakhouse I found this place on yelp. Realizing it was on the way to the National Theater and a only 5 min walk from the hotel I decided to check it out. I called ahead to make sure I would be needing a reservation l. The hostess was super friendly and adviced one IS recommended as they anticipate being busy. I asked what if I go right now (5:30) and was told right now would be perfect as they are only beginning to see the crowds. So many things looked so good, but since we were heading to the theater we opted to do the theater menu. I ordered the French onion soup, with the petite filet, scalloped potatoes and scallops. My mom ordered the house salad with the petite filet, charred broccoli and crab cakes. Both orders were excellent. I was thinking the portions were going to me small...I was gravely mistaken. The portions were more than adequate. In fact we were stuffed to the point we had to decline dessert. There is absolutely nothing I can complain about. The steak was cooked to perfection and the scallops were super soft, flavorful, and juicy. Cocktails on the other hand are overpriced and weren't that good. I had a Moscow mule and it wasn't served in the copper cup. It was also more pricey then the signature drink berries & bubbles. The berries and bubbles was also underwhelming. So conclusion come for food skip the cocktails. read more

This was my first time going to Ocean Prime. I was searching for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my mom and after reading reviews online (Yelp, Google, etc.) I decided to come to Ocean Prime. It was the BEST experience I ever had at a restaurant. From the time we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the front desk staff and then taken to our table. Often times a bad waiter can make or break your dining experience, but i was so LUCKY to have had the best waitress by name of Jessica! She was so patient, knowledgeable about the food, and so attentive in making sure I enjoyed my birthday experience at the restaurant. As for the food, it was excellent! I had the steak Oscar style with lobster, loaded baked potato and hands down everything I ordered was EXCELLENT! Well worth the money. Overall I would definitely come back again, and again, and I really have Jessica to thank as she made my whole experience truly enjoyable! read more
