We walked in here a few nights ago for an impromptu dinner, and we had an amazing time! We sat at the bar, and Alejandro took such amazing care of us. One of the nicest touches in my opinion was when he made me a virgin strawberry mojito, without me even having to ask, because I'd told him I'm expecting and can't drink alcohol. And the food was delicious! We had the lobster roll, the Alaskan crab legs, a filet and a bunch of sides and everything was incredible. We'll be back, even if it's just to see Alejandro! Thanks so much for your great service! read more

Ambiance good, waiters prompt, wine was good. Filet mignon 6 oz. was tiny but very tall. It comes by itself, meaning, you have to spend more to have sides. In my opinion, if the filet came with a salad ( which doesn't cost much) it would look better. I would also decorate the plate and make it look fuller. The filet, 6 oz. looked REALLY small on that HUGE dish. Not enough for a guy. It averages about $50.00 a person. Not cheap, good food, and makes a good impression if you have guests. I cook better sirloin at my house for less, but this is not about that... Enjoy! read more

The only reason that this place is still in business, we'll at least the dc location, is due to its name. I was entirely disappointed with the Chilean sea bass, the truffle Mac and cheese could be considered Kraft how awful it was. They only redeeming dish had to be the African lobster tail and even that was mediocre at best. All in all I would not recommend anything other than the drinks. The only thing that you are paying for at Ocean Prime DC is for the ambience, since the food is subpar, also they need to teach their servers how to properly pour a bottle of wine. 2/10 would not recommend. read more

Called myself trying something new. Would usually go to Old ebbit but I decided to give them a try. Ordered the Red snapper and my friend ordered Twin Lobster tails. For some odd reason. We both have been throwing up and having stomach pains since. Goes to show. Why would you order seafood at a Steakhouse. Smh. So if your going. Go for the steak. To bad I don't eat it. By the way. The Tito's margarita I had was awesome but I'm suffering at the moment read more

The good and drinks are always great but I was there last week on a Tuesday 10/10/23 evening... my friends and I sat at the bar trying to enjoy our time there until we had a bartender serve us our drinks. He was SO RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I WAS WO DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED with his energy and service he gave me. I will no longer go come back to this location AGAIN unless it's the Ocean Prime Miami... Miami's location is WAY BETTER and the workers there are always better. DC will always be trash anyways. Thank god I don't live in DC anymore. Ocean Prime DC is officially OFF MY LIST. The bartenders there repeatedly kept serving my drinks aggressively with no class or respect. He kept spilling my drinks all over the counters every time he served me. I'll never recommend this place again and I'll just stick to Miami.... DC is just a horrible sad city let alone Ocean Prime. Hope that bartender gets better training. If I could give it negative 5 starts I would... unfortunately the app only lets me put 1 star..::/ read more

Went here today for lunch. What I didn't do is take photos, my bad! I got lobster bisque which comes in one size, a bowl. It was everything I thought it would be. My only complaint is that they don't ask if you want fresh ground pepper. Sorry used to work in a seafood restaurant so whenever people got soup I would always ask. Maybe fresh ground pepper isn't their thing. Anyways, for lunch I got sea scallops. There were 3 sea scallops which were a decent size. It came with risotto which was perfect for this cold weather. My friend also got the soup but went for the sea bass. She loved it, was fell apart so quickly and perfectly. She also got the lavender citrus soda and said it was more of a lemon/lime mix. Overall, this is a place you would go to for special events and want to drop money. Our lunch wasn't cheap, came out to $99. For me it was worth the price because I don't plan on going every day or every week. Just for special occasions. read more

Great place to grab lunch in DC the service is great. I had a pretty good gentrified version of the shrimp and lobster étouffée. It was nothing like what you'd get in New Orleans but it wasn't bad. read more

Similar experience as other diners. The hostess was amazing, the food was ok and the service was horrible, some of the worst service I've experienced in DC. It was particularly bizarre because ours was a late reservation, well past prime time and the place had really cleared out. I think over the course of 2 hours we saw our waiter 4 times. It just goes to show how service is everything in fine dining and how it can make a meal special and exceptional or regrettable and forgettable. read more

Went here for my birthday it was good I got steak and lobster Mac and cheese I had the butter cake but it was a little dry..

Ocean prime.... I like the idea I can say that. But I just feel like my experience was average. The food wasn't for filling, service was Ok it wasn't like most "Fine Dining" restaurants I been to (Then again I sat at the bar). The pork chop was good but it was small. I just feel as if for the price they charge I shouldn't be hungry. I personally don't eat a lot per say but I mean I'm paying 40-50 dollars for one entrée... fill me up! *pause* read more

I think this may be my new favorite restaurant. It's on the corner with valet parking for starters so that right there is a win in itself. The hostess and 3 other men at the front greeted us promptly and seated us (my husband had made reservations prior). You get your choice of still or sparkling water just as you should at any upscale restaurant. The bread and pretzel with the butter is sooooo good. The hubs gave me the eye because I asked for more. He said who asks for extra bread at an a la carte restaurant lol. When the butter is this good, I do! Our server was Warren. He is an expert when it comes to the menu. He was able to explain everything to us in regards to the preparation and where the seafood and meat came from. One thing that had my attention before we even ordered was that all of their food is made from scratch in their kitchen including salad dressing. That's a plus for me because I do the same thing at home with about 90% of our meals. Okay on to the food. For appetizers we ordered the short ribs and scallops and the calamari. Oh my goodness!!!! So good! First off, I love short ribs when they are prepared properly and these were perfection! The scallops paired with them and the gravy was melt in your mouth good. The calamari was ridiculous! My husband is calamari fanatic so we order them almost every where we go. These by far were the best, hands down. For our entrees I had the red snapper and my husband had the rib eye with the lobster as a topping. I preferred his entree over mine to be honest. Don't get me wrong mine was good but it tasted so much better the day after (I ended up taking half of it home). For our sides we got the brussel sprouts and potatoes. I was so full I could barely eat either of them so we took both of those home too. The next day they were delicious . I would've preferred a little more cheese for the potatoes but I'll be sure to let them know next time (just a personal preference but still great nonetheless). We didn't order any drinks (which is a first for us). We were so enamored with the appetizers that we couldn't even think about drinks. But I definitely want to try a couple of them next time for sure. We didn't order dessert either because of course we were full as ticks. But I want to order their carrot cake and cheese cake next time because they too are also made from scratch in their kitchen. I took pictures of our entrees but forgot with the appetizers because once I had a bite I couldn't stop eating. I took pictures of the menu I took them down as I felt it was inappropriate for this price range. They are pricey but I definitely wouldn't mind coming once or twice a month, especially for their seasonal specials. If you can't swing it that often, definitely give them on a special occasion, you won't be disappointed. read more

Decided to try this place out with my mom from a recommendation of a friend. And Boy! Was it great!! The Ravioli appetizer. AMAZING! Outstanding! This was our first visit to a Cameron Mitchell restaurant and we arrived with very high expectations that somehow they were able to exceed. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the attitude of the staff are top notch, a huge sign that there corporate culture is to serve their customers well. During this visit we started with the Surf and Turf appetizer which is scallops and braised short rib and then ordered the ORA King Salmon, Teriyaki Salmon, loaded baked potato, smoked Gouda tater tots, for our meal. We finished with chocolate peanut butter pie and mango apricot sorbet for dessert. Everything was excellent, the food and the experience. A special thanks to Chef James, Briyan, and the entire staff. read more

I took my wife here during our trip to DC this past weekend. We had other dinner arrangements, however, the place that we visited was an extreme letdown and we decided to only get drinks. On short notice we were able to make reservations at Ocean Prime. The atmosphere there is amazing and the staff was fantastic. We got a window booth and each ordered cocktails that were to die for. They bring you popcorn that has garlic, truffle oil, and salt as well as an assortment of bread. For starters, we ordered the calamari which had a sweet and savory sauce that included bean sprout and carrots. Our entrees consisted of red snapper with a corn and rice mash as well as the scallop risotto with parmesan and peas. My wife nor I have ever been to an establishment that could be considered fine dining before our visit here. Everything from the food, drinks, and service was exceptional. Next time we are in DC, we will visit again. read more

The bar area was great and the bartenders were so nice. We finally sat at our table ordered a bottle of Wine and it took 25 min. They didn't seem like they could handle much of a crowd. I had a salad and also the salmon. They were both good and my boyfriend had the ahi but didn't mention much about it. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and the jalapeño potatoes au gratin. They were amazing. I would go back just to have the potatoes again. Very impressive and I don't normally order potatoes. Next time I'm in the area I would totally stop back in. read more

I've really tried not to leave a review. My experience here was not what you'd expect especially after paying $100+ for a meal. It started out great the hostess and bartenders were amazing while waiting for our table but our server.... maybe upscale dining is not for her. I do say this with a bias as a previous restaurant manager someone who serves and who currently bartends in the DC night life scene so I may not know what I'm talking about. We had 6:30 reservations for 9 people 7 were there to be seated and they saw where they put us didn't accommodate the people who were there. The hostess actually wanted to move us but our server (Jennifer/Jessica) said no. So we order because they close at 9 and our server was like you need to order now we ask if we could order for THE 1 other person coming because 1 cancelled. She said yes she preferred it. Then everything after was a smart ass passive aggressive comment. "Oh well I don't know where this salad goes because the seats are off" well also because you bunched us up in this booth under the window. Our server never explained the menu and was annoyed it we inquired about dishes. I chose the surf n turf I asked about the shrimp scampi and she's like it's just a few shrimp in butter sauce on the side. No it wasn't. They put that nasty salty scampi butter all over my whole steak. I asked for the reduction sauce to try to make it better after I told her I didn't like it (she did not care either when I told her. She gave me an attitude) She brought it and never told me she was charging me $6 for a 1/4 of a ramekin. She separated our checks BECAUSE SHE SAID it would be easier for her and the payments and never explained the bill or the service charge. Granted we EXPECTED to pay one. But when we inquired about it and how it was broke up she told us "Well he puts the gratuity on every check so that I can actually get tipped" SHUT UP REALLY?! We're all industry people we know. But we didn't need a smart ass explanation. But her attitude was with the birthday girl cause she asked. The server then told us we were welcome to tip her over the gratuity. Fast forward to her boxing up our food. She brought boxes etc the birthday girl went to hand her her food and asked that she box the potatoes separately and the server says "I know that was my plan". The whole night she treated us as if we shouldn't have dined there. Until the coat check guy brought my full length fur out the closet and I pulled out about $600 in cash to pay the bill. Now it was all can I get you all anything else. Thank you so much. She prejudged us either because we looked young or because there were 9 black people at her table. Either way she thought we couldn't afford our meal and treated us poorly. She was condescending and rude. Maybe she was overwhelmed but I've handled a 30 top alone with no problem and she had server helpers and no other tables. So make how we were treated make sense to me. The rest of the staff bartender/ host team were a delight. Jennifer WAS NOT!! I don't know but this was my friends favorite restaurant and my first time there and I'm ok with NEVER going back and going to Joes and Del Friscos from now on. I've never been treated poorly there. Ocean Prime will end up a chain restaurant like Ruth Chris because of people like the server who helped us. read more

Fine dining literally at its finest. My boyfriend had taken me here for my birthday and it was so nice, I didn't know how to act. First of all, I'm a simple girl, so these kind of restaurants really intimidate me. Thankfully, our server was really great and made me feel a lot more comfortable. Our server had an assistant server! Maybe that's like a normal thing to have at these kind of restaurants, but it made us giggle cause we thought it was so odd, yet kind of cool. Anyways, my boyfriend and I are steak noobs, so all that steak lingo was so confusing to us. Our server took the time to explain questions we had about the menu and didn't make us feel dumb, which I can really appreciate. We had ordered the jumbo lump crab cake, the ribeye, side of fries and the berries and bubbles cocktail drink. Everything was delicious! ALSO, the bathroom was great! Really private stalls and they even offered free feminine products and had hairspray on deck! If you're down to spend the money, this is the place for you. read more

The service is impecable. Denise was an amazing server and made some great recommendations. Let's start with the French onion soup. Very mediocre. I've had better elsewhere. It lack that flavor that is expected from a hearty beef broth. My companion had the tuna for her entree, and she enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the scallops. They were room temp to COLD. Very disappointing. The food alone I would give *, but the service gets a ****. I really would have appreciated the managers to give me eye contact and to ask me how my service and food was. I think that asked every other table except ours. Where's the cheesesteak egg rolls like in Philly? Dress code? Are you kidding me? They asked me to remove my hat. Did they ever think that it could have been a disability? But yet you let a woman with all fishnet on in (I literally saw everything on her)! I might be willing to give it another try, but after spending close to $200, it was not worth it. read more

It was my boss's birthday so we went for lunch. I wasn't terribly hungry so I just ordered the lobster bisque with Caesar salad. The lobster bisque was phenomenal, though it could have used more lobster chunks. Caesar salad was basic.. nothing special. My boss ordered the short ribs. Not only did it look amazing, she said it tasted amazing. It's an appetizer but she paired it with lobster bisque. The short ribs are heavy so be warned for lunch. Overall the experience was lovely. The ambiance is upscale and the service was great. They even brought out a complimentary creme brûlée w a candle for her birthday. It was disappointing that they didn't have a restaurant week option for lunch. Regardless, I will be coming back to try dinner. read more

Ocean prime is mediocre at its best. The ambiance was decent and I like that parties of 6 or more have a private dining area to themselves. I attended here with a party of 8 and even tho our waiter Reggie was pretty entertaining, the final exit was not pleasant. The food was bland, I had the lamb and my sister had the steak. We were all there celebrating my close friend birthday. And excited to try the new steak house in town. Highly disappointed to say the least. During her time of setting the reservation she asked if her party could possibly split separate checks. She was told Yes! Now initially I was surprised, as upscale restaurants usually don't offer this service. But she was reassured SEPERATE CHECKS, not seperate payment. When Reggie finally stated that he will be bringing us our bill, he told us that he was not aware of this. When the manager came, we assumed he was there to assist, we were wrong. The manager who made the experience worst than what it was, rudely stated and I quote "you know what you got, it's your problem, it doesn't matter at this point". I understand your restaurant closes at certain time, but he practically was giving us the boot to get out. Mind you this was only 30 mins after closing with still 4 other tables remaining. I would've respected more if he stated that the POS system couldn't handle is as the gratuity was HAND WRITTEN on the receipt. Which was extremely tacky for a place of that "caliber". My personal recommendation is to not waste your time or money. Service was okay and food was okay. read more

First time at Ocean Prime but I will definitely be back! Service was great; we arrived and were seated promptly. We decided to come during restaurant week to try more food (3 course meals). Surprised there wasn't a wait. Also happy that we didn't have a dress code issue. My boyfriend had on a nice tshirt, ripped jeans, and clean tennis shoes. They start you off with truffle popcorn which was amazing. I love popcorn. As well as bread pretzel and regular. The food was great. My steak was cooked perfect and even my picky boyfriend loved his scallops. We also ordered the carrot cake which was a great way to end the night.
