My bf brought me here last night for my birthday and I was very pleased with our waiter, food, and atmosphere. Our waiter was very attentive, our drinks were good, and the food was well seasoned. It definitely tasted better than where I took him for his birthday a few weeks ago lolol. We ordered the whiskey clover, bubbles and berries, 2 dynamite rolls, teriyaki salmon w/ shrimp scampi, blackened snapper, creamed spinach, lobster Mac n cheese (not listed on the menu but it is available to order), and the butter cake. Everything was really good except the lobster Mac n cheese...it was very underwhelming. The dynamite rolls were very filling...we couldn't even finish our entrees so we took most of it home. The only minor issue was that he mentioned it was a birthday dinner when he made the reservation and at the table while we were ordering dessert and they still failed to acknowledge it. Other than that I'm sure we'll be back to try other items on the menu. read more

The waitress was very personal and service was excellent. One of my friend ordered fish which he ordered a few times. However, he found bones and told the waitress. He wanted to let the chef to know, but the manager took the dish off the bill which we felt he didn't have to do it. We definitely will return in the future. read more

Dined yesterday, and the food was amazing. The only thing was that the host that was wearinf a green top yesterday was staring at us like she's judging us. The second we walked in we were met by her stares like we can't afford to be there. read more

I finally made it to Ocean Prime for DC restaurant week! I love that they have a three course meal with highlight dishes! Every dish I had was the BOMB! So much so that I actually just lived in the moment, ate, enjoyed every bite, and forgot to take pictures as much as usual. I think that says something! I will say that the scallops and risotto were AMAZING!!! The scallops were cooked perfectly and were so soft with just enough searing on the outside. I had the carrot cake for dessert....to die for! I would go back just for these two plates alone! Ocean prime is overall a really great place for a fancy date or special night out to celebrate with loved ones. Dress up; it's fancy. read more

Update to my last review, gave Ocean Prime a second chance and they did more than made up for it. Service was amazing and the food and drinks were awesome! Thank you read more

I've been to Ocean Prime twice, and for what it is (an upscale seafood/steak place) I'd have to say 4 stars...yay, I'm a fan! Am I a regular, do I go there often? No, but the two times I went there I had a nice experience and while it's not cheap I felt that I got good quality both times. The first time I dined there was last year before a show at Warner Theatre. My husband and I are bar diners so we got there around 6pm and sat at the bar. It's honestly been so long that I forget what we ordered, but I do remember two things: the portions were enormous and the fish was fresh. So while it's expensive, you definitely get your money's worth portion-wise. They also have a great happy hour menu - both food and drinks. Recently went back before a show at the Hamilton for a little pre-dinner bite and a drink. We ordered glasses of champagne and a special they were running to celebrate MLB All-Star week - crab nachos. These were delicious! A ton of jumbo lump crab, chips that were warm but not greasy, and a nice smattering of green onion. Paired with the champagne, it was a great snack. Plus, can't go wrong with the popcorn they give you at the bar! I'd be happy to return to fix a seafood craving or stop in for happy hour. read more

This review is mainly driven by the service that we received. We came here for happy hour and it is roughly $10 for a drink (wine or cocktail) and $10 for an appetizer. The price point was expected at a fancier restaurant. The food was pretty good, I really enjoyed the Maine lobster roll (it came with two small rolls so it's easy to share between two people). However, while sitting at the bar it was somehow difficult to get anyone's attention. The service was not particularly friendly and it seemed like any extra service that was needed beyond our drinks was not welcome at all. It was a stark contrast to what I thought the service level should be at a high end restaurant. Hence, why the lower rating for the overall experience. read more

Great menu, food was expertly prepared and service was impeccable. The music being piped in was a little loud for my tastes - made the vibe a little less romantic. Be aware... like most restaurants, the bill at the end of the meal includes some suggested tip amounts. But, UNLIKE most restaurants, sales tax is included in calculating the tip. A small, hidden bonus for the staff... read more

Went out for a birthday celebration and the food was phenomenal. No complaints at all. Appetizer- lump crab cake , main course- salmon with asparagus and corn. The corn is so sweet and good and definitely a must try. - main course 2- shell Cobb salad excellent and very filling. The bubbles berries signature drink is very tasty. Very nice atmosphere and setting. Complimentary desert for birthdays!! read more

I was at the DC location last night with my date. We had a disappointing experience. To start off, we weren't greeted in a warm, welcoming manner. The hostess didn't even have proper attire on. She failed to cover her right breast entirely. Not only her bra was showing, we could see her right breast completely. Our waitress didn't seem very confident or knowledgeable with the menu. I ordered from the restaurant week menu and my date ordered from the regular menu. What a huge difference! If you wish to invite guests to your restaurant to sample your menu, you definitely should be sincere and do a great job. Nothing I had from the restaurant week menu was good. The salad looked very sloppy. When we mentioned that to our waitress, she said well, it might taste really good. Everything else I had was extremely salty, including the dessert. To me, your team failed to impress you're guests. My date had the calamari, which was way too sweet. They did try to remake it but then it was very greasy and soggy... We felt like most of the items are way overpriced. If the food was good, we would understand the need to increase the price. Not when the food is salty, greasy and unenjoyable. On the positive side, drinks were amazing. Definitely keep your bartenders and treat them well. read more

Everything was world class here starting with the truffle popcorn. The lobster bisque was the best bisque I've ever had and the cowboy steak was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of flavor. The truffle Mac N cheese and creamed spinach were also huge hits. read more

Very nice ambiance and efficient table service. I found the food to be good but not mouth watering. My filet was overcooked and I'm still trying to figure out why sauce was $7. It really didn't do anything for the filet. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was expecting mouth watering food for the cost. Seems like a place to rip off those who like spending extra money on "fine dining." Excellent food presentation however. The best part of my meal was the cocktail and carrot cake. Our server had a bit of an snobby attitude (which is funny because he works in hospitality). I would expect better customer service for the price. read more

Dining experience on 2/15/2020: This was a very good experience at Ocean Prime. I ordered the crab bisque as a starter which was very good and it had a decent portion of crab meat which was placed on the bottom of the plate with the soup poured on top of it. The crab cakes I ordered, as the entree, were also excellent and it was plated over a sweet mustard sauce. The atmosphere was great and the pretty table booth where I sat was cozy and added to the ambiance. Overall a good experience and good waiter. I'll include a review on the waiters the next time I dine here to validate the good service I received on this occasion. Our waiter Nate was very good and obviously experienced. I'll dine here again soon and will update my review. read more

First time here. Not very impressed. Good service and atmosphere but the food left something to be desired. There were 3 of us. We ordered the calamari, french onion soup, bone-in ribeye with truffle butter, filet mignon Oscar style, brussel sprouts, bacon creamed spinach, jalapeño scalloped potatoes and lobster mac. The calamari was good. The soup was okay. The steaks were good. The ribeye was tender and slightly warmer than room temp. Not much flavor though. The lobster Mac was bad. We all ordered one and we all returned it. No seasoning and watery cheese. The brussel sprouts were okay but a little overdone. The jalapeño potatoes were just okay...needed seasoning. The spinach was fine. For drinks we had the berries and bubbles. Very tasty but don't expect a buzz...even after 2 or 3. But they were super cute. For dessert we had the butter cake. This was our primary reason for coming. One of us was quite underwhelmed. I was okay with it. Hot cake always does it for me. LOL But it doesn't compare to Del Friscos. Overall, I was not impressed for the $389 price tag. read more

Service usually sucks at the bar, and the energy is always off. The bartender tonight was ok, but I left Joes Stone Crab because seating at the bar was packed and no one was moving so I walked here and it's like a library, energy is way off and the service always lacks ((ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME EITHER, I just decided to post a review)) Bartender is trying to make up for it but I'm out! read more

Have been here a few times and have spent a few thousand dollars on food and drinks. Last time I went on Jan 20th, I ordered surf and turf ribeye and lobster. I ordered the steak medium rare and was given a steak that was nearly medium well over cooked. By this point we had to meet friends out and I was nearly full so I just told them to remove my meal. When the check came out they still wanted to charge me half of my entire entree they messed up. The manager came out to argue with me saying I eat the lobster when I only ate 1/3rd of it because it was bad as well. Felt incredibly disrespected at a place I've spent so much money at already. Eventually they removed the meal off after having to argue on a Saturday night caused by their own failure to cook a steak. Spent 500 dollars that night and will not be coming back. read more

You ever had to do a review and you honestly can't even come up with the right words to describe your experience. Well thanks Ocean Prime for blowing me away!!! This was the final stop in a whirlwind of culinary madness for my homie. I know how to take care of my Leo and making sure he ate good up until his birthday and even after was executed on so many levels. This place is PHENOMENAL! Now the homie and I have become accustomed to fine dining, even though most of the spots we have tried specialized in steaks; Ocean Prime took care of us seafood lovers just right. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING WE HAD WAS AMAZING. That lobster Mac N Cheese is serious and their Salmon and Red Snapper, YES. They even gave my Leo a complimentary desert, Butter Cake was THE BOMB DIGGITY NO DOUBT. I'm glad we got to experience Ocean Prime, now to save up for the next trip lol. read more

My friends and I, a party of three had the opportunity to dine in at your restaurant last Friday, 09 /26/2020 at 6:30 pm. There was no outside dining available. The service was phenomenal, the customer service was impeccable and the food was delicious. However, in a Covid-19 world, I felt uncomfortable with the seating arrangements and capacity limits. We were placed in a booth with two or three booths directly behind us. They had guards or shields between them so that appeared to be sufficient. There was a booth next to us with a half wall in the middle. There was not a guard to the left of our booth; not a major concern. What really made us uneasy ; there was an aisle of tables between another set of booths to our right. Those tables were too close , in my opinion, between the two sets of booth seating. I realized that we are all trying to get back to normal. As the evening progressed more patrons arrived for dining. I personally will not patronize your restaurant unless I'm getting carry out or you implement more CDC guidelines to keep your customers safe. thank you for your attention regarding this review. read more

I've never been serviced popcorn instead of bread at a nice steakhouse before. Didn't really understand the reasoning for serving popcorn. Perhaps popcorn is served so customers don't fill up on bread. Ordered calamari and although it had a lot flavor, it was overcooked. I told our waitress that we didn't want another one, but she brought a second plate anyway. It was cooked perfectly. Dinner was outstanding. However, their "ten layer" carrot cake wasn't very good. Half the serving, an inch down, is really eaten without frosting. Why do restaurants serve square pierces of cake. Would have loved a thick piece with a steak knife down the middle like they serve at Stoney River, etc. read more

Our dinner date at Ocean Prime was great! We were greeted very quickly by the waitstaff who brought waters and bread. We enjoyed very good lightly dirty martinis (both vodka and gin and they have blue cheese stuffed olives!). The food was also great. My only complaint was that my house salad was over dressed (but still good). We enjoyed the soup and our entrees. We recommend the blackened snapper and scallops. Our waiter Will was attentive and supplied all the recommendations. The restaurant was full but we felt safe with table spacing and plexiglass between the tables. read more

Was ok. Was expecting to be wowed esp at this price point. Salmon was ok, steak was a bit bland, brussel sprouts were a bit oily, mashed potatoes were too runny. My only pluses were my drink and the butter cake. All in all, I think I'll skip this place unless it's for happy hour. read more

I had an 18th Birthday Party for my daughter. We reserved a room for 12 people. The Lobster soup came out very cold and had to be sent back. Then we order our main meal, the Salmon was cold and had to be returned and warmed up. The steaks was not cooked properly and was sent back. Last be least our dessert the WARM BUTTER CAKE was cold and not fresh. They did offer everyone more dessert and that was all out of paying $2,300. Not a fan but maybe it just so many parties going on and the chef was overwhelmed. My waiter Will was very nice and helpful with everything. CH read more

The food here was amazing. The survive was great. If you are looking for something fancy this is for you. My only complaint on the food was the app with shrimp. The shrimp was over cooked. I uploaded photos of everything we had and my review of it. I highly recommend the surf and turf app. It's amazing. I think I would be happy just ordering all apps. The bread was also really good. I did have one issue with the bus boy or helper. Not our waiter. Anyways the bill came and I grabbed it. I'm a women and a be boss boy said umm that's for the man to take and pay for not the women. I was so offended but this. I looked at him and said what is this the 1950's I make a lot more money then him. And he was like WHAT REALLY? I could not believe this interaction happened at a place where our bill was almost 300 bucks for 2 meals 2 drinks and 2 apps. How is it possible that in 2021 a women has to deal with comments like this? I was very very offended. I also was not even paying. I just wanted to check to make sure we were charged properly. More ofte then you would imagine the bull is wrong and over charged at a lot of places. Anyways it was very rude and if I as a women want to take my man for a fancy dinner I can and not need the wait staff having an opinion on the matter. read more

I went to this restaurant for restaurant week and the service was terrible. 3 hours for two people, 2 drinks, 1 app, and 2 restaurant week meals. It was a busy evening and we arrived early for our reservation. We had to wait, but that was expected. After a short wait we were promptly seated. We were promptly offered water and our waiter arrived a few minutes after. He took our drink order and then returned to take our full order. It was a wait for the drinks, which was expected, an extended wait for the appetizer and all of the courses, dessert being the longest. It took 30 mins to get a scoop of ice cream and 45 to get the cinnamon bun bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream on the side. The reason for the extended delay, I asked the waiter for my scoop of ice cream on the side. The first set of desserts were 2 bread puddings with ice cream on top. I explained that that was not what we ordered as my brother only wanted a scoop of ice cream. The second set of desserts had ice cream on top of the bread pudding again and a slice of carrot cake. The third set of dessert finally had the scoop of ice cream that my brother asked for but again the ice cream was on top of the bread pudding, the fourth time I had it packed to go. They forgot the lobster Mac & cheese so we had that to go too. I spoke with the manager as it took 2 hours to get our main meal and at that time we still had not received our desserts yet. His response was that the restaurant was packed so that we should expect a wait for our food, but that he would comp some of the items on our bill. After he left our table the dessert was brought out wrong for the third time. When he returned with the item comped bill, my brother noticed that we had been charged full price for the restaurant week entree even though all of the other aspects of the 3 course meal were billed at restaurant week price. We called the waiter back and he returned with the correct bill. We paid and left. We definitely won't be back. read more

Wow. Sat at the bar restaurant space. I was in no service land all night. Server gave me a taste of his favorite wine to see if that was my choice and then I never saw him again. Service was beyond BEYOND terrible. I needed to flag down the hostess and other servers to get service. It was nuts. What ever you do, don't sit at the bar area! Food was ok, but the service situation ruined my experience. I am very sad as I like this place. If you want good service, hopefully the restaurant side us better. I am very disappointed read more

In DC there's often little time for long lunch hours. I recommend making a reservation for one of their private rooms or in the central area. I had the sea bass which was well prepared but a rather small portion compared to my guests who ordered salads. I was surprised the salad option was larger than the fish. The truffle Mac and cheese wasn't memorable but it wasn't bad. Service was great. I loved that the bathrooms offered amenities like mouthwash, however management needs to ensure bathroom cleanliness is maintained and checked often. Bathroom cleanliness is why I gave this property 4 stars vs 5 stars. read more

I love Ocean Prime in LA and although I didn't personally dine at the Ocean Prime of D.C. I would like to share my experience because it meant so much to me. My brother got married on Friday in an intimate wedding that I unfortunately wasn't able to attend but he informed me that he was at Ocean Prime for dinner after. I reluctantly called to see if I could have something sent to the table (I thought the process would be cumbersome and it was the day after thanksgiving and life was already happening lol) but Tiana Thomas answered and was able to elegantly respond to my request. Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is primarily the service. Had a private room which is swank and sexy. Our party had 2 wait staff assigned to us. The male - I think he was the primary waiter was great. Personable and made sure to check on us regularly. The other person assigned - not sure if she wad supposed to make sure we had water glasses filled or what not, but she was not personable at all. The food was good and ambiance was great. It's a little pricey and just felt at that price point, wait staff should be more on point. Nevertheless, I've been here for happy hour and dinner prior to this experience and all were good. read more

We decided to try out Ocean Prime during restaurant week to celebrate a colleagues birthday. We were seated in a private dining room for our party of 6 which was a nice touch. The room had a television and we were able to select our choice of music. Diamond was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the menu and the service from everyone involved was fantastic. I decided to try the Berries and Bubbles cocktail which gives a show due to the dry ice which was neat. I selected the French onion soup, petite filet, and carrot cake from the restaurant week menu. I also added a lobster roll separately. For our table, we added the jalapeño au gratin and roasted Brussels sprouts to share. The Brussels sprouts were divine - I could eat a whole bowl of them and in hindsight should have inquired as to what they put on them. My steak was cooked perfectly at medium rare as requested and was served with whipped potatoes, haricot verts, and a cabernet jus. read more
