I use to frequent this restaurant while living in Dallas, Texas and now it's finally in DC! What took them so long?!? LOL It's the same concept as Mastros with seafood, steak, sushi and a Soulful Singer (minus the piano) in the bar area. The only exception is the food is half the price of Mastros! Did you hear me??? Yes, half the price when compared to Mastros. No, $20 dollar Cocktails and there's even a happy hour menu before 6:30pm. Even the bar area is larger, so you're not forced to dine in. My dishes of choice is the "SeaBass" and "Crab Cakes" plated on a bed of corn and drink of choice is the cucumber cocktail with Gin. It's pretty strong *Hint, Hint* My waiter was exceptional and the Manager walked over to everyone's table to ensure service was great. read more

This place is very elegant, the food was so good. We got the special of the night steak lobster and spinach with a side of garlic mashed potatoes that were so delicious and warm bread pudding with ice cream and berries. Their truffle popcorn was really good too and the bread and champagne. Can't wait to come back read more

Friday Oyster Happy Hour: Oysters were very fresh and delicious. The service was on the slower side despite being not busy. The lobster slider was underwhelming. I wish there was more to say about this place, but there isn't. While the oyster special is a very good deal, if oysters are not your thing, I would go elsewhere for happy hour food and drinks. read more

I love this place!! I definitely need to make more of an effort to do happy hours here. I went recently as a pre-event move before an awards dinner and it was lit! The group that was hosting me always know how to have a good time and so when I got there, they were best friends with our servers and the manager. The staff were so great! They took such good care of us! Ocean Prime offers complimentary truffle popcorn on the tables and I was messing that up! It was soooo good! I could've literally eaten that all night and given Ocean Prime a five star review. So after munching ferociously on popcorn, I ordered a Berries and Bubble cocktail. It is both delicious and visually appealing. As you can see from below. I had three of those bad boys and I would've had more had we not had somewhere to be. That is one of my favorite cocktails in the city. As for food, we had a little bit of everything from the appetizer menu. We ordered: the calamari, the deviled eggs, the surf and turf, the dynamite roll, and the prime roll. Everything was delicious! Can't wait to go back again! read more

Wow what a fine dining high end steak house. Our server was amazing. Knew the menu and made excellent recommendations. Had the NY Strip it was done to perfection We enjoyed our meal & will certainly go back when in DC read more

I had a lovely dinner as a solo patron at the bar. Enjoyed friendly conversation with some other guests. The Surf and Turf appetizer was amazing. Lobster tails were fabulous. The staff is very professional and friendly. Thank you! I will be back next time I'm in DC. read more

I had dinner here last night. The lobster bisque was a waste of time (I sent it back, lacked flavor) and the lemon blueberry cheesecake wasn't sweet. The lobster mac & cheese and black truffle mac & cheese were good, but I could've used more seasoning. The filet mignon, shrimp scampi, lobster with drawn butter, berries & bubbles cocktail, and butter cake were delicious! Our server was not personable AT ALL. She was professional, but doesn't appear to be a people person. I never saw her smile. Janelle - 157 read more

Fantastic food, amazing service and very pleasant ambiance. I would definitely go back!

My husband brought me here for my birthday! I was so excited I finally got to taste the famous 10 layer carrot cake mmmm, ok but let's start w dinner first. For starters we got the surf n turf which was sea scallops, short ribs and gremolata. It was sooo good but small for sharing. For my entree, I ordered the blackened snapper. It was delicious! My husband ordered one of the steaks and he enjoyed his meal as well. I also ordered the berries and bubbles cocktail. Presentation was PERFECTION, ok!! And the taste was on point. As I said before we had the 10 layer carrot cake for dessert and it definitely lived up to the hype. I enjoyed it and definitely had some to devour the next day. The service was good and the restaurant is nice. I'd definitely come back! read more

The first thing that happens when I sat down, they asked "what do you want to drink" to everyone else but me maybe I'm small to see but I was avoided during the ordering process of drinks! The food looked amazing other than that the service is kinda bad. read more

Solid higher end steak and fish house. 50 dollars per steak, without sides. Assorted pricing for wine, and 10-20ish per appetizers. Service was excellent, as expected for a pricy restaurant. Inside the atmosphere is not too cramped, good amount of space, nice and clean with a pretty decor. Food: fries were delicious. These are my ideal fries, absolutely crunchy on the outside without being burnt but also soft on the inside. The Brussels were a little over seasoned but perfect in how they were cooked. The New York strip was perfect, great natural seasoning while still preserving the taste of the meat. However I ordered a rare ribeye and it was medium rare to mediumish. I'm not the type to ask for them to remake a new one but yeah I was a little annoyed paying 300 for a meal and missing the temperature of a steak by so much. Other than that 5 stars if they didn't mess that part up read more

Fantastic service and food! Taryn was so welcoming and extremely helpful when I left something behind. She went out of her way, truly, to make sure I got it back. Ocean Prime has been in my bucket list of restaurants to visit ever since I moved to DC, and after going I can understand why.If you are not really into seafood, this is not your place! I had the lobster bisque soup, which I regret not being prepared and filming how it was served but it was a beautiful execution. The waiter brings a plate with some nicely distributed lobsters and the creme in a nice saucer and pours it delightfully on top until the bowl filled. Of course the favor was incredible. The staff is really attentive, I don't think we ever had one second wondering "who can we call for help", which happens very often in any restaurant downtown at lunch and specially on a Friday. My friend had the tuna burger and I definitely want to go back for that! read more

Overrated The Ambience was cute, dimly Lit, and intimate but I was not impressed with the food at all. I had the crab cakes and lobster macaroni and cheese. the crab cakes consisted of a mixture of lump crab and the special crab meat which is the smaller pieces of white meat from the body of the crab. They reminded me of salmon cake patties, thinly patted and dusted with bread crumbs, the flavor was mediocre basically a normal tasting crab cake. The lobster mac n cheese tasted like boxed Kraft Mac n cheese, my favorite as a youngster but not my preference as an adult. But The lobster was good and cooked well. Overall I had a good time but wouldn't go back. read more

Becky the bartender is great! Oysters and teriyaki salmon so good! Love it here super cute!

This is a pricey place but it's worth every penny. Not only is it food great, the service is awesome, The ambience is just perfect. It's a very elegant and great for a romantic dinner but not stuffy at all. The food was amazing. The steak, crabcakes, the sushi... All top-notch. We got free champagne for our anniversary, and the fact they put us in a secluded booth after we told him it is our anniversary, and they made sure people are always asking us of our needs--- Just a perfect experience. Oh btw chocolate peanut butter pie... get it! read more

I went as a part of restaurant week/month. The options were great. I ordered the Caesar salad, teriyaki salmon, and cinnamon roll bread pudding. Everything tasted good. They also had great kid options, which I love since my daughter was with me. Upon being seated, it did take a while for a server to come by to acknowledge the table and take orders but afterwards, our waiter was very attentive. By the time we were able to place our order, the bar was closed. I was looking forward to trying the suggested wine pairing for dinner but maybe next time. The restaurant was socially distanced and each station was cleaned thoroughly after each guest. I also loved the decor. Overall, I enjoyed the food and atmosphere and would go again. read more

GREAT time here! I chose this spot based off reviews for a nice, romantic birthday dinner for my husband. I made 8pm reservations on a Friday night and we were seated right away. Nice vibe all around. We took other reviews and we both had that berry, bubbly drink--mmmm....sooo good. Sweet and tart is how I'd describe it. My husband had the snapper and I had the mahi tuna. Now, let me tell you. I wasn't sure if we needed to order additional sides but we decided to wait to see what we'd get since our waiter said if we changed our minds then the sides would come out quickly. My mahi tuna came with a little side, mango salad and I was full after finishing it all. I didn't need anything extra. My husband did end up ordering a loaded baked potato. That snapper dish with its sauce and cornbread underneath it with stay with me for a good while! And I only had one bite! My mahi tuna....it was really good as well. I wanted something I've never ordered before and it didn't disappoint! It was seared to perfection and I think its raw in the middle but either way, I wasn't complaining! Ate it all! Let me wrap this up. Had the butter cake for dessert and it melts in your mouth. Pricey: Everything came to about $150 (not including the tip) so make sure your money right. read more

Food was overall pretty solid. Steak was a little bit too salty for my liking though.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. A friend and I were celebrating our birthdays and she chose OP to dine. Everything about what we ate was impeccable! Her lamb, my ribeye was very tasty and tender! Even the gouda tater tots were fantastic! My ONLY hiccup was I expected a birthday acknowledgement being that we did indicate it during the reservation process. Other than that I will be returning! read more

I fell in love with this place to the max!!!! I came here yesterday with a bunch of my friends for my 30th birthday dinner. Our server was soo nice even though we were a big party she was able to handle such a large party. I had ordered the surf and turf, the 8oz steak with crab cakes, and truffle Mac and cheese. It was soo bomb. Full of flavors and the portion size was really good. The atmosphere was such a wonderful experience and employees were very nice and respectful. read more

Terrible, Over rated and over priced. My wife took me to dinner here for Father's Day for early dinner at 4:00 pm. We entered with high hopes and was taken to our table and our waiter came by after we were seated and everything went down hill from there. Our bread took to long to come. I am not sure what the water was that we were given because it was in a glass jar. After our bread came it took around 20 minutes to get our appetizers. I had the crab cake which was mostly filler with very little crab meat. My wife ordered the king crab legs which had little or no seasoning. We ordered New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach for our entree. It took at least 30 more minutes to get our entree, as a matter of fact there was a couple to our right that came in when we got our appetizers that got their entree before us. As far as our entree the steaks were not cooked to our order and had some terrible sauce on them that we didn't order, the creamed spinach was too salty, and the garlic mashed potatoes were just creamed potatoes with some slices of fried to garlic on top. I will never waste my money there again Wendell Knight read more

First time visit made some strong impressions. Great moody atmosphere, good food and service but . . . The quality and quantity of the food overall was above standard and fit with the slightly "spendy" pricing. Deviled eggs and calamari appetizers were great but the hamachi crudo was too much sweet sauce drowning too little fish - five tiny slices. Astute of the waiter to serve mini crab cakes to make them easy to share for a party of 11 but they were just OK. The mains were excellent! Scallops, sea bass, salmon and Tuna were all winners served with flavorful veggies and starch. No need for extra sides. Waiter was a real charmer and very good at his job but he/the management MUST cut back on the upselling! Three to four minutes of pushing the special and up charged extras and sides THREE TIMES while handing out menus and when ordering apps and then mains was WAY too much!!! It put a dent in the atmosphere. Don't do this to your customers - certainly when they're entertaining business guest from out of town!!! Wine list is good with a range of reasonable to special occasion prices. Would definitely go back for a special meal but if we get up sold like that again, my next review will be one star. read more

great food, slow service around the hour of closing but they still accomodat those still there. Will come again

Was fortunate enough to attend a pre-opening night. The place looks great, with a good balance between dark steakhouse privacy and modern hotspot hip. They had a live band this night, which was great. I hope they have live music on "regular" weekends too. Our group tried a bunch of different dishes, all of which were delicious. I actually think the appetizers were the best, with the French onion soup leading the pack. It was so freaking great that I had the waitress find a Tupperware so I could take the leftovers home. Steaks were cooked as requested. Overall, the desserts were the least impressive, with the creme brûlée at the bottom of the ladder. It just didn't taste like much. I will definitely be back, if for no other reason, the French onion soup is calling my name. read more

Walking in the DC downtown area came across Ocean prime, able to get seated without a reservation in the bar area immediately. Service was great and the food was very tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the calamari which was prepared differently than traditionally fried. Was surprised at the size of the lobster as seen in the picture on top of the steak Oscar style, lol. Interesting $15 bone in charge, need to cut that price. Of course the ambience in the bar area is lively with TVs. Overall, we definitely will be back again. Warm Butter Cake read more

Absolutely amazing! The calamari was unlike any other calamari dish we've tried, wonderful sauce. The drinks were phenomenal! We started in the bar area, had some wonderful bar tenders that gave great advice for drinks and apps. They also brought out this amazing truffle popcorn. We then went to the dining room, had a great waiter who helped us select entrees and sides. We got the special halibut with crusted crab, the filet with garlic shrimp scampi add on and the side of corn. The only complaint is the steak and shrimp came out warm, the timing in kitchen might have been off because the halibut and side of corn we ordered came out hot. It was still amazing! read more
