This is a magnificent spot in the heart of the Boston Seaport. Great ambiance, lovely waitstaff, and fantastic food really made this a wonderful experience. I started by splitting the sea scallop/short ribs surf and turf and a lobster bisque. Both completely exceeded my expectations. The scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection and the short ribs quite literally melted in my mouth. The gremolata was equally delicious to boot and added a wonderful consistency and flow to the dish. The lobster bisque was perfect. The lobster was soft and buttery and the bisque had the perfect thickness with excellent seasoning and flavor profile. I felt like I was swimming in seafood paradise before I even received my entrée! And what an entrée it was. The Atlantic cod with lobster and gnocchi was a heavenly marriage between a light/fresh flavors and a beautiful richness of cod and gnocchi. The cod was cooked to perfection (have I used perfect enough yet? probably not.) and the gnocchi were like little Tempur-Pedic pillows, so light and airy! And the promise of a ten layer carrot cake - which was one of the reasons I went here in the first place - was fulfilled in spades. The cake was simply delectable. The spicing of the cake was phenomenal, the cream cheese icing was creamy and delightful, and the pineapple syrup was the perfect accoutrement to the otherwise very decadent and rich cake. I loved every part of this meal and will certainly be back. Overall, Ocean Prime is a can't miss spot in a city known for it's great seafood. read more

Went there last night to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was incredibly helpful and present. Our server, Levi, was the absolute best. We had the calimari and crab for appetizers, then scallops and steak as the entrees. Levi suggested a red blend with my steak and it was the perfect pairing. Everything was delicious and Levi brought us an amazing chocolate/peanut butter cake at the end! read more

Food was fantastic!!! But the service wasn't!! It took forever to get drinks! And they forgot the sides that were supposed to be with our meal! The sides finally came out when we were done with our meal!! The waitress was sweet and you could tell she was doing the best she could. The set up of the restaurant makes it hard for the waitress to do her job When the bill is upwards of 700 you'd hope for better service read more

Wonderful new restaurant in the seaport area -- great fish and steak offerings. The bone-in-ribeye was a delight.

I have been to some of the best steak houses in Boston, Las Vegas and Miami -and I have to say, Ocean Prime is one of if not THE best! Celebrated my husbands birthday over the weekend and I can't say enough good things about this place! Not only a great piece of steak but lobster was sensational! From the quality of food, which was hot and as you know not always the case in high end steak houses, to the decor and to top it off, service was excellent! Our server was Scott S. who was superb!! I started with their signature drink - berries and bubbles. It contains Belvedere Citrus Vodka, Marinated Berries, House Made Sour, and Domaine Chandon Brut. It's presentation alone is worth the price ($16 ) plus-it was delicious. We ordered a Caesar and Salad wedge, very fresh and big portions. I ordered the surf and turf special (filet/Oscar style with lobster tail), and my husband ordered bone in filet with side of sautéed button mushrooms and creamy jalapeno au gratin. Both delish.... The steaks cooked perfectly as ordered, extremely tender, and the lobster tail lifted right out of the shell. I have tasted lobster in all varieties up and down the east coast and have never tasted one quite like this. It melted in your mouth. Then there's dessert which we don't usually get, but the server was treating! It was chocolate peanut butter pie, rich and creamy covered with ganache sitting on base of Oreo crumbs. Heaven! Whoever put this place together, did it right... We will be back!! read more

First time visiting Boston came in and sat at the bar and the bartender Jessica was amazing she truly made my day I came back to Atlanta and suggested all my friends come into Ocean and I will be coming back soon! read more

Service was great. Food was good. Location is very nice. Good menu and great wine selection. Overall good experience. Why 4 star versus 5? One primary reason- went to the restroom at the end of the night. No toilet paper in the bathroom stall. Literally stranded with nothing. All restaurants should have a stocked bathroom especially an expensive one. Luckily I was saved by my sister. Not a good end. read more

Very good place for lunch. Upscale restaurant, but they didn't mind when we walked in with T-shirts and shorts in a hot summer day for lunch. We had the Chilean Seabass (lightly sauced, which is fine with me), salmon on top of salad and crab melt. All were very good and made us happy. read more

Pricy as hell and I probably wouldn't go here normally, but the Kansas steak was superb. There are just no real words to use for a good steak, aside from that Homer Simpson style gargling sound. I smelled of butter and meat afterwards, and I wouldn't be surprised if I started to chew on myself subconsciously on my way home. The brussel sprouts were a good complement as well, but make no mistake about what the real star of the meal is. The waiter I had was incredibly friendly, although there was a small mixup with the check, as he charged my card with the wrong table, that ordered approximately $400 more food than me. But it ended up no big deal, as I didn't see a charge on my cc statement. read more

The worst beer list in Boston. I couldn't put a list this bad together if I tried. When Harpoon IPA is the top draft it's a fail. The service was decent, but not outstanding. Likely not going back. read more

Wow. My girlfriend and I were blown away by the ambiance at first. The music sucked us in. Great covers going on for us to sing along too. We didn't get far and sat right at the bar. BENJI IS A MUST! Gave us the best service around and his recommendations were off the chain!!!! I highly recommend trying the steak tartare as well as the classic calamari. Great way to end the night! read more

Very good food. Back room is good if you want a quieter atmosphere. Definitely 4 dollar signs though, as most entrees are $35-45.

We had a wonderful experience here for a "girls night out". We started out with a round of perfectly made martinis. For appetizers we ordered the seafood tower, it was over the top. The freshest array of oysters, crab, lobster and shrimp with dipping sauces you could ever want. The presentation was so nice. We could of stopped there but of course we didn't and went on to order our Main courses. I ordered the bone in tenderloin ( medium rare) delicious. I thought the regular tenderloins some of my friends ordered were small and thin. The toppings and sides were to die for and so were the desserts. I'd go back just for the creme brûlée. Our waitress was super. We'd definitely go back. read more

This was the best steak I have ever had .. the experience from start to finish was amazing.. our waitress Yvonne was great we never had to wait for anything but at the same time she didn't hover over us either ... thx u for a lovely evening we will be back read more

I ate at Ocean Prime on June 29th for a birthday celebration. First of all I have to say that I DID enjoy the dining experience again (I have eaten there one other time) and plan to eat there again. So please forgive my picky comments. We came early and decided to sit at the bar for a drink before being seated. We were promptly greeted by a friendly bartender and enjoyed a nice glass of wine while waiting for our table. When our table was ready, we were led into the middle of the main dining area and seated in a half moon booth. We ordered Alaskan King crab legs as an appetizer. The main courses ordered were a Halibut special and seared Ahi Tuna. The food was good....but for some reason I expected a little better. The King Crab legs didnt taste fresh. It wasnt BAD......but just didnt have that REAL fresh taste. I felt like the Halibut was dry. I did not try the Ahi Tuna but was told that it was delicious. Our waiter was friendly and attentive however I felt like he was trying to hard on selling us certain entrees rather than explaining how the entree was prepared (spices, cooking process, flavor, etc.). The dining room was busy and a little loud. The experience still deserves a "thumbs up" for me and I will definitely be going back. read more

The food is very good; excellent wine list. But the staff--Just stop! An army of wait staff hover about, constantly asking--"Do you want me to take your plate? Are you done?" At one point they had to bring another dinner plate when they prematurely took my son-in-law's plate before he was done eating! Hard to tell if they are trying to turn over the table or be helpful. But it was obnoxious--I will not go back! read more

First time there, really enjoyed it. Bar, music, drinks were all great, once we were seated for dinner, the service was spotty at best, meal was excellent. Service caused the 4 star review, everything else was 5 ! read more

Excellent! Everything we ate was so good. We had crudo appetizer, crab cakes, salads, blackened snapper and filet. Everything was prepared perfectly. The salads are huge - definitely sharable if having for an appetizer. I would have given five stars if they had not taken so long. We were there for lunch and it took two hours. Just too long for a lunch. read more

I really enjoyed myself at Ocean Prime! I was in the area for a conference and this was a great place to have dinner. The menu was treat, service was phenomenal and the wine was wonderful. I highly recommend the sushi as an appetizer and the clam chowder was really great! Overall ambiance was very cozy and comfortable. read more

Attentive, superb service. The appetizer of goat cheese ravioli and the Ocean Prime salad were excellent. The Tuna Tartar was very good (and I'm usually not a tuna fan). Main course was great. And the black truffle Mac n cheese was also excellent. Would definitely recommend it! read more

Worst experience I have ever had with customer service! The host staff was extremely rude and would not seat us for our reservation without our full party after we were told that we have be seated with half the party. We were then told we could eat at the bar, this reservation was made weeks in advance for a birthday. The manager was apathetic to the situation and continued to speak over us as we explained our disdain with the host staff and not being seated. We were then seated in the back at a booth in the corner. The initial service received was so distasteful that I would not provide my business to this place again we left and went to Del Frisco's which was a much better experience!!!!! read more

The professionalism at this restaurant is disgusting. We made a reservation for 9:45 p.m. on a Tuesday evening. We called the restaurant to ask if there was a grace period because we'd be a few minutes late. They told us that it would not be a problem and to try to come as soon as possible as the kitchen would be closing. We arrived at the door of the restaurant at 9:50 p.m. and were not allowed in. We were greeted by a valet worker who yelled "closed, closed, read the sign" at us while simultaneously video chatting on his phone. We calmly notified him of our reservation to which he responded, "oh well, you're late. It's closed. I don't know what to tell you." After insisting on speaking to someone inside, the valet finally went in to speak with one of the managers. We assumed we would AT LEAST get a no or a valid explanation as to why we couldn't come in from an internal staff member. Keep in mind, there were groups of people exiting and entering the building from the bar area. As the only black people there, we found it a bit weird that we were being treated so rudely and being denied entry because we were 5 minutes late for a reservation with given notice, yet other people were proceeding to walk in. The valet man went inside and spoke to who he says was a manager (a short blonde women at the door). She even poked her head out and looked at us then proceeded to tell him to tell us no. As a manager, don't you think it is important to notify potential guests in person face-to-face about the matter? Especially if you're standing right in front of us! They both laughed and walked away. In the end we decided to walk over to Strega Waterfront which, if anyone was wondering, is 10x better overall. The service there is exceptional all around. As a frequent customer at Ocean Prime, I can guarantee I will never ever be returning to this Boston location. read more

We had an exceptional dining experience here. Great, professional service, great ingredients that are perfectly prepared. Appetizers of cold crab cocktail and Wellfleet oysters were excellent. Main dishes were the halibut special and the lemon cod from the menu, both were amazing. Split a dessert of butter cake that was to die for! Nice atmosphere, great food and staff who had outstanding recommendations! Well worth the price. read more

Nice place, good food, great band on weekends at the bar area HOWEVER, D class bartenders. In reality they are just servers, bring your food, remove empty plates and bring the bill. No personality, no greeting, no sign of friendliness. I am puzzled. I know they must be making good money based on their prices but why so miserable. Don't they like their jobs or few pages in corporate training is missing? I have been there 3 times in one year and as much as I like the place every time I did not go back for a while for exact same reason. read more

Ocena prime $25 per peson prime lunch menu is a steal in my opinion. Started with their house salad and it was mouth watering, i picked 6oz steak for main course and it was good, I have had better steak before but considering the price i paid it was worth it. Probably the best part was their carrot cake. I had their carrot cake before, somebody brought it in my workplace once so i was definitely excited to try it again. I could eat it all day long its that good. A must try. Service was professional and attentive. read more

Ocean Prime - 5 layer carrot cake for prime lunch menu. i guess usually its 10 layer for regular price - Seafood Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I understand the nature of COVID but I don't see that as an excuse for the poor experience I had here last night. I am basing this review off other high end restaurants I have visited in Boston. We started with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and Oysters for an appetizer. I have never had such dried out shrimp in any other dining experience in my life. It tasted like it had been sitting out to dry all day. Pretty hard to mess up raw bar shrimp, but somehow Ocean Prime managed to do so. The Oysters we had no complaints, they were clean. For dinner we had the two specials of the night. My girlfriend got the Twin lobster tails and I got the "bone in" rib-eye steak. She is a lobster fanatic and said it was pretty mediocre lobster. Especially for $65. The ribeye was like rubber. I ordered it medium and could barely cut the steak. Took almost 10 cuts of the knife to get through it. Mind you there was no bone in the steak either. The steak was extremely disappointing and felt like I was chewing on a piece of rubber. I gave up half way through the meal and took the rest home for the dog. The garlic mashed potatoes were good, but it is pretty hard to mess that up. Overall this was a 2 star experience. They did not seem understaffed at all. Spending almost $400 here I would have expected top notch quality of food. Very disappointing. The only positive part of the night was our waiter was nice. If I could redo the experience I would have ended up sending the shrimp, lobster and steak all back to the kitchen to be redone. Unfortunately, I am not the type of person to send every plate back to the kitchen as I do not like wasting food or have to see it be thrown away. read more

Booked this reservation to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday. The staff made her feel special from start to finish. The hostess was friendly when we arrived. Our server, Justin, was pleasant and attentive. He knew just when to drop in and check to see if we needed anything. A few other staff also stopped to say a quick 'Happy Birthday'. It was a very nice experience for her without being overbearing by any means. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was amazing. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides, salad, and soup were equally delicious. The presentation of her birthday dessert was beautiful and they went above and beyond by comping it. I highly recommend Ocean Prime Boston. We will return. read more

Enjoyed a casual business meeting at Ocean Prime. Perfect dining experience for such a purpose. Service was excellent -- our server was funny, attentive but respectful of our business discussion. We had the fish special -- good but buttery. And a sushi roll -- again, we thought a healthy choice but it was covered in aioli and just ruined. Salads were fresh and nicely tossed. I would say the best part of the menu was the wine! read more

For the money. Ruth chris has a way better and more tender filet. This place is just another overrated steak house. Stockholders in Abington makes a better steak for a lot Less money. I had the filet medium rare like all filet should be. It was medium rare but the steak was dry and rough not at all tender like a filet should be. The filet at Ruth chris melts in your mouth read more

Great service and very tasty apps! I've yet to have a full dinner here but I'm sure it will be just as delicious. I've been here a few times before for drinks also. Decent cocktails and pretty decent wines by the glass too! If you're looking for something different then try the Berries n Bubbles. The dry ice at the bottom provides some entertainment in your glass :) I was there most recently the day after Thanksgiving. There was a jazzy sounding band covering pop music. It's just a very classey yet fun establishment. read more

Maybe there was just too much hype. I expected more. Dined with the friend during restaurant week. We both ordered the 3 course filet special. Lunch started great with a generous salad & calamari. The filet arrived a short time later. They were cooked perfectly but mine just wasn't tender. I also thought it had a strange taste. Desserts were ok - nothing great, nothing bad. For the price I think there are better options for both the steak and a view read more
