Great seafood. Terrible with dietary restrictions - gluten free, vegan, even vegetarian. Go there if you love seafood and meat. A+ in that arena read more

This is a steak house chain. The decor and ambiance is well researched and works well. Do not order seafood, despite the name, you will be disappointed. Order the steak and it's on par with Ruth's Chris. I had dinner at the bar and the live band, atmosphere and bar tender were great. Their specialty margarita is the best if you like sweet cocktails. The Chilean sea bass was terrible but ribeye was great. The price was high but on par with other chain trendy steakhouse. read more

Went out for a late Valentine's Dinner with my husband. The space is beautiful and the ambience was great, however, we didn't really get to enjoy it because the heat was broken. Our server was sure to let us know and keep bringing it up every time she came over to the table. It would of been really nice if she offered a tea, coffee, anything hot. The food was meh - my beautiful bone-in filet came out medium instead of medium rare (which isn't the end of the world, but it is $45+). Don't get the steamed broccoli unless you are super heath conscience because that's all it is. I've heard their cocktails were great but the Berries and Bubbles is so sweet and so pricey - not worth it at all. Overall, our server was good and attentive, but couldn't make up for the other flaws. Hopefully some kinks will be ironed out and it will be a great spot in the Seaport with warmer weather. read more

Amazing! Probably my favorite steakhouse in Boston. Just had a business dinner there tonight and Derek our server was spot on. He knew he menu well and all his recommendations were delicious. Highlights were the blue cheese crusted steaks and peanut butter pie dessert. We also had the carrot cake but wasn't half as good as the PB pie. Cool atmosphere and not as stuffy as some of the other steakhouses. Will definitely be back and will request Derek to wait on us! read more

Came here with colleagues and we were very disappointed with the quality of food. It is way over rated and food was so plain. Portions were super small as well for the high price you pay. Will not come back. read more

Order the bubbling berries drink. It looks really cool. Lobster sushi roll wasn't that great. Definitely get the calamari... it was amazing! Try the scallop appetizer. Chilean sea bass was good. The peanut butter chocolate dessert was absolutely a must try! read more

Quality customer service, quality sushi appetizers, tasty martinis, and the tuna & blackened smaller were both tasty. Pricey as expected for an upscale restaurant and does not disappoint. read more

Great food, and nice ambiance. But Terrible Service.

Yet another restaurant that I simply do not get why it is rated 4 stars. 4 stars should mean that this restaurant is better than average but Ocean Prime is not better than the average steak house and seafood restaurant. It is ok but really we all have experienced better so for me it is meh...I have had better. I ordered the clam chowder and it was ok not great but I sure have had a lot worse so I would give it 3 stars. My next course was the Halibut because the waiter pushed how fresh it was and that it was flown in every day from Alaska, ok fish might have been fresh but they overcooked it so it was dry and tough...what a sin. Other orders were a sushi roll which was horrible. Salmon that was ordered medium rare but was again overcooked and what might have been a good piece of fish was destroyed into a dry, tough meal. The yellowfin tuna was cooked to perfection but the sauce on it was not appropriate for tuna so the taste of the tuna was lost in a sauce that might have worked on red meat but not tuna. Finally the crab cakes. Meaty enough but sauce was horrible and destroyed the flavor of the crab. So, 2 stars especially when you are charging absolute top dollar for food that you can get at Grill 23 or the Capitol Grill for the same money but a much better dinning experience. read more

Wonderful hosting and seafood, my friend takes rib eye but looks noice as well. If they prepare more variety of local oysters, it makes it 5 stars. read more

Ocean Prime might have the worst service in Boston. 20 minutes of us sitting and no waiter had come so had to get up and go to the hostess to ask. Food is mediocre at best and prices equal to Capital Grille and Grill 23 where the wait staff is unreal. Will never eat there again but bar there is pretty sick read more

Decent food for high end Boston Seaport- hostesses extremely friendly- big smiles, warm welcome-.. Inside attractive - bartenders need training- not impressed although drinks and wine were good. read more

Overpriced and overrated. Not a good experience at this restaurant. What especially stood out was our incompetent waiter who we found to be short with us, couldn't answer ever basic menu questions and who did not address issues with food, service or bill - he was too busy watching the playoff football game being broadcast from the dining room. read more

The Tampa location is much better. I felt really rushed like they wanted us in and out. , $15 vodka sodas and the soda water was 100% flat. The asparagus wasn't hot and swimming in oil. Our server was just ok, but again rushed us through the experience. No rush going back read more

Underwhelmed... for our anniversary dinner. We went here because it was recommend as a great spot to celebrate a special occasion. Reservations were at 7 pm on a Sunday. The restaurant was not busy in fact it was pretty empty. We were seated in a comfy booth near the back of the restaurant, it was quiet and romantic. Everything was fine until about 15-20 minutes into our dinner they sat a party of 20 right next to us. Hindsight is 20/20 and we should have asked to be moved but why would they sit us next to such a gigantic party when the restaurant was very empty? They knew the big party was coming because the table was all set. The food was OK but not anything we would recommend to others. I got the Florida Grouper and while the meal was light and delicate, I was still hungry after I finished. My husbands steak was chewy and the side of asparagus was fine. We both got desserts and they were excellent, probably the best part of the meal. Honestly I've had nicer anniversary dinners at Capital Grill or in the North End. Every fancy restaurant I've been to almost always comps your dessert and that didn't happen. I'm not saying I went into the dinner expecting a free dessert but like I said, every nice, upscale restaurant I've been to always gives a free dessert. The restaurant knew it was our anniversary because it said "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plates. That was also the only acknowledgement we got that it was our anniversary. The best thing about the meal was the dessert. I can't say I will ever go back or recommend this place to others. read more

Had mother's day dinner at Ocean Prime. The service was poor. The server never introduced himself, he just walked up to the table, after we'd been seated for a good 10 minutes, and asked us if we wanted drinks. Not sure if they serve a bread basket here, we didn't get one. Waited several minutes to just get water, waited much longer to get the drinks we ordered. Having served tables myself for several years it takes a lot for me to be disappointed in a server. I was disappointed. We didn't let the poor service stop us from enjoying our meals though. The food actually didn't take long to come out. I had the sea bass, my husband had the snapper, both were very tasty. The desserts are quite large, more than enough to share. While we did enjoy our meal, we won't return. The poor service at this "fine dining" restaurant was enough to keep us from going back. read more

We arrived a half hour before our reservations so went to the bar to grab drinks while we waited to be seated. The female bartender was unfriendly and borderline rude. Seemed a little put out that she had to put her phone down and serve us. She asked if we wanted to start a tab and i said no and paid in cash. The round was almost $25 I gave her $40 she handed back a 10 and a 5 dollar bill assuming she deserved at least a $5 tip. Which normally I would have given if the service was friendly and she didn't assume that she deserved a tip. Food was both hit and miss. Appetizers were good. My filet temp was supposed to be rare to medium-rare it came out close to medium-well. I don't like to complain or send food back. Needless to say I only ate a couple of bites. My friends filet was cooked to order. The a la carte sides were average. Our server was good he answered all our questions and made some good suggestions. For the type of money you pay to eat here everything from service to food should be excellent. There are far better places for great food and service to dine out in Boston. read more

Loved the shrimp cocktail, twin lobster tails, and peanut butter pie! I would definitely go back!

Fish was great but the servers weren't too knowledgeable about the fish on the menu. They should really have all their facts about the fishes before they try to recommend them. Having to go back to ask the kitchen multiple simple questions is a waste of everyone's time. Atmosphere is typical seaport kind of trying to hard to be fancy and overdoing it. read more

Our company had a phenomenal corporate dinner in the Back Bay Room. Dana was our server, and her service was top notch. The food was excellent with a wide range of steak and fish and the cocktails were superb, but it was Dana who made our experience what it was. She was extremely attentive, professional and able to balance a group of 17 of us with no problem. If you are looking for a nice night out or somewhere to hold a company dinner, this is your place. And be sure to ask for Dana! read more

No doubt the food here is good and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. I just think it's really weird how they give everyone chocolate bars as an appetizer. I mean I love chocolate but right before my meal, and a whole bar of it? read more

The space is nice. It's obvious no money was spared to make it attractive. The food needs help. Servers don't know where the oysters are from. I get a fancy answer when I ask where salmon is from- it's farm raised. At this price point I expect wild. I order scallop risotto and it a gummy, salty mess. It's not a risotto, more like mashed over starched rice, no flavor profile. Scallops are good. Veggies sides are solid. Drink menu limited and they're big on the serving with liquid nitrogen thing that was over 8 years ago. Staff pleasant, need more training. GM more into self than restaurant, always a disturbing sign. It's about the customer. Wouldn't make special trip or recommend. read more

Their prices do seem higher than comparable restaurants in the area (like Row 34), but they have some terrific and unique benefits: --Pretzel breadsticks that induce opioid-like addiction. --AWESOME live music in the bar. --Great iced tea presentation --Booths in the bar area are pretty nice and we've opted to eat there over the dining room a few times. Obviously it also has all the standard fare of the top-tier seafood places in Boston. Specials have always been excellent and shellfish fresh. Cons: It gets crowded, and at prime times we have been crammed in the dining room in "six-inches-from-the-next-couple" two top seating. read more

I celebrated my birthday here on Saturday with party of four. The bar service is extremely slow plus we had to wait over 30 minutes for our table. The food is fabulous with a price to match. When paying top prices I do expect top service. We phoned ahead twice to confirm our server as we requested particular server but we didn't get him. Our sever arrived at our table looking very sweaty & I just found him tad bit cocky!! He told us he was from Maine & just didn't have much charm or likability. With all that said the restaurant is beautiful & the bubble cocktail is delightful read more

This was our first visit to Ocean Prime and it was definitely a mixed bag. Unfortunately, based on the price, a mixed bag cannot be considered anything less than a disappointment. Positives: Sabrina, our waitress, was a sweetheart and was a real pro. The service, once we got a table (which took a while on a busy night), was excellent. The vibe is fun. They had a three piece band in the corner, playing lots of fun music. The people watching was a blast while we had our drinks in advance at the bar. I had some west coast oysters that were absolutely delicious. Hard to get good ones on the east coast. Negatives: My steak was not seasoned. At all. I had to use the butter from our bread basket on the NY Strip, as well as salt and pepper. When I go to a high-end steakhouse, I very rarely need to add seasoning, because they chef is usually very skilled at it without my help. The piece of meat was cooked very well and it was tasty after seasoning. I don't know. For the price, I expect a lot more. My steak at Del Frisco's was perfect when I went there in the past. The value for the price just wasn't there. We saw the menu in advance. We saw the prices. They didn't scare us off. But the prices didn't meet our expectation for value. If we were paying for location, we could have spent just as much somewhere else on the Seaport. I would probably only go back if we had friends who loved the place and wanted us to go to dinner with them there. read more

Went to Ocean Prime Friday night with friends and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. First off I was impressed with the buzz at the bar. A 3 piece band was putting out a great vibe and the bar was hopping. We were quickly seated in the large restaurant and ordered up some cocktails. Service was helpful, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They helped us put our order in and then the apps arrived. The west coast oysters and tuna roll were great, but the calamari was probably the best I have ever had! Mains came : Sea bass, halibut and pork chop all were great! We shared smoked gouda tater tots (wow), roasted brussels sprouts and lobster mac. All were good. My only criticism would be that the mains and sides were HEAVILY salted (which I find common to steak houses) so be prepared for that, but otherwise a great lively night out in Boston! read more

Didn't have a good experience at all, especially for what we paid in the end. Went there to celebrate anniversary and first of all, our waitress spilled our drinks at the table, there were breaking glasses too, and it got all over my fiancé's sweater, this was 5 mins after we sat down, so he had to sit through an entire dinner with wet sweater. We felt bad, so didn't say anything to the manager. You would think they would compensate us somewhat, nope, nothing, not even a free drink or a free desert, paid $300 in the end and left very unhappily. Not recommending. read more

My wife and I went to ocean prime for our babymoon and this was one of the best meals I've ever had. We simply had a wonderful time and would recommend highly. read more

A friend and I chose this spot for our annual restaurant week selection. Normally out of our price range, this $25 three course lunch was right up our alley. The wine selection was good, but a bit pricey. And for lunch I ordered the seasonal salad, petit filet mignon and a raspberry sorbet. All very delicious, though my steak was a little rarer than I asked for. Parking is abysmal down there, otherwise, it was a good experience. read more

Located in the every popular Seaport district, Ocean Prime has been around about 12 months or so, maybe longer, and is another high end seafood and steak establishment. Valet parking is a bonus, however there are some lots nearby if you want to drive around. Huge bar with a small stage in the corner for a solo guitarist tonight that was very good by the way, and even huge'r restaurant, looks like they get about 250 covers in there, however its popular so reservations are absolutely necessary. Very pleasant staff, and plenty of them make sure your pampered from the moment you walk in. The majority of the dining room is oversized booths, not my favorite i'm more of a table guy, but the booths are big so not too bad. For an app i ordered french onion soup, however clam chowder showed up, strange, but i like both so it was no drama, the waiter even took it off the bill but i would have gladly paid it. Chowder was ok. For main i had roasted halibut with lobster ravioli with asparagus and corn broth, it was cooked to perfection and delicious. Other diners in our group had swordfish with clams and salmon over rice and shiitake mushrooms and each was outstanding, i must say they both looked awesome. We also had a dessert each, might be the tallest carrot cake i've ever seen, one of the richest peanut butter chocolate cakes i've seen and the freshest baked Alaska i've seen, all three were very well put together and were all first class. All in all a very good dining experience, but then again, there's a lot of competition in this neighborhood now so you have to be on your toes and i'm happy to report, Ocean Prime is up to the task. read more

My finance and I were in town to visit the New England Boat show. We were also celebrating our Anniversary so we wanted a nice Seafood restaurant. Many were recommended and we choose "Ocean Prime" and are so glad we did! We sat at the bar and received fabulous service from Amanda and Billy. They not only made amazing drinks but also were friendly and despite being very busy, ensured we had a great time. We enjoyed amazing meals, the King Crab Legs and a Salmon Caesar Salad were delicious. And to top it off they brought us a piece of there infamous carrot cake and it was to die for. Thanks to everyone at "Ocean Prime" for making this special night over the top, including Dave the manager. read more

We made a reservation for our anniversary and let the hostess know when we confirmed the reservation with her. Generally, at a nice restaurant like this one, your request for a quiet corner would be honored but their staff plunked us in the middle of the restaurant even though there were plenty of quiet corners available. We ordered the surf and turf app which was very good but the rest of our meal, yellowfin tuna, ny strip, truffle mac, and Brussels sprouts were mediocre. Steak and veggies were overdone and the cheese in the Mac seemed grainy and left a bad aftertaste. Overall, definitely not worth the $250 tab. read more

Visited about a week ago with a large group and we were all sadly dissatisfied with our experience at Ocean Prime. We started with a few different appetizers. The calamari was more a salad than actual calamari, it lacked the calamari. As for the meals, it was unimpressive. The steak sauces were weak. The truffle butter was completely lacking in the truffle flavor, as were the truffle fries. Dessert was fine. Over all, it was a disappointing dining experience and definitely not worth the price! read more

My wife and I dined here the night before it opened for business officially (as part of the soft opening for invited guests, etc.). On balance, everything was very very good. The pretzel bread to start was a great touch. Warm, soft, and tasty. We had a bunch of apps (everything was free, so we tried a lot). Our favorite was the hamachi crudo. The tuna tartare was good as well, but less than the hamachi and a bit more bland than expected. I also loved the ravioli app, and my wife loved the deviled eggs. As for main courses, we both had the filet. My 10 oz. was among the best I've had in Boston. My wife had the 8 oz., and while excellent, we were surprised (and not warned) that it was bone-in. A bit disappointing, particularly if the bone counts for the weight. We had a variety of desserts -- all excellent, but my favorite was the choco PB pie. Really nice sizes of the portions too. Did I mention the drinks? Try the Kentucky Rose. I will definitely return. read more

FANTASTIC Do not know what to say about this exparience. We are in Boston for two nights. Took the tip from Joyce our concierge between this and legal harborside. She said it was comparable to the upscale portion so that means we have to come back to compare. Ocean Prime has st the bar very high .From the service (thanks Scott) From the bread (crusty yet soft and hot) to the desert (too full to have any but they looked great) We were very satisfied. The seafood tower was great and everything we came to Boston to try. 1/2 lobster, shrimp, oysters, crab legs and crab cocktail.needless to say very full before the entree. We decided to split the blackened red snapper and had enough for both. Scott up sold us to the gouda tater tots and knew what he was talking about. I recommend this highly. read more

Thank you very much to Rebecca, Alain, Chris and the rest of the waitstaff!!! I had my office holiday party at Ocean Prime last night. Rebecca & Ocean Prime helped us deck out their private dinning area for 34 of us. They put together an awesome menu that had something for everybody. The food was served perfectly cooked and was unbelievable. The timing of the courses was very well coordinated. My kids had their own table for dinner and the staff took amazing care of them. Bottom line. I highly recommend Ocean Prime for your next office event or for a great night out! read more
