The service is horrible! It's young kids who would rather hangout with one another than wait on you. Our waitress was not very personable. There is not salt and pepper or ketchup on the table and trying to track someone down was real annoying. There were 3 people in my party. We ordered the rody with chowder, hamburger and a haddock sandwich. My daughter hated the burger but we are at a seafood place so that no fault of there's. The lobster roll and haddock sandwich were delicious. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because they have a private parking lot and that's a valuable assets in Perkins cove. read more

The food is usually wonderful, the ambiance and the view are amazing, but I would just recommend against the scallop roll. I have enjoyed my food here in the past. I wanted to get something cheaper, but I love scallops and wanted to try the scallop roll. When I got it, the scallops were very firm and chewy, but I ate half the tiny roll (2-3 bites) before I stopped. I told the waitress, but she said I had eaten too much of it and the manager wouldn't even take $1 off the bill for me. I just thoughts places worked harder to keep customers happy? read more

My wife and I ate at the OARWEED twice this past week. The service was great, the food delicious, and the views were stunning. The first night we had the broiled haddock--it was piping hot when it came to the table, but not overcooked (perfect). We both had fresh garden salads (definitely not bagged lettuce, etc.). I had the special house lemon vinaigrette dressing. It was not overpowering, but had a nice refreshing bright taste. We virtually had the identical meal the next night. I also tried their draft blueberry ale. It was surprisingly good--give it a try! Prices are "up there," but I don't mind as much when the food and service is good. We didn't have a wait time either night (this was the weekend). The restaurant is not fancy (but clean) and was VERY NOISY on our second night. Salad was a large plate of lettuce ., not much else. the steamers were good Friend ordered a grilled cheese with ham . Another ordered a BLT, beware they grill it , Terrible no flavor , half grilled ,bacon was dried out and crumbling , one sad think slice of tomato, a bad decision. Nice location, on the water overlooking the cliffs near the end of the magical Marginal Way, and a $4 mimosa sign drew us in. The host at the front was friendly and helpful in finding us an outdoor table. We started with a glass of rosé and upgraded to a large mimosa for $7. Good people watching and the views are the reasons to go here. As others note, the food is average in quality and above average in price when better options are steps away. The steamed clams were fine, but not as flavorful as we had hoped. The crab cakes were okay, but not that crabby. The blueberry pie was a sweet end to the meal and it was also - you guessed it - just fine. All in all, 2.5 stars, but I am rounding up since dining out during this COVID summer time is tough and I appreciate all places that stay open and all workers making it possible to do so. read more

Came in after walking the Marginal Way for a light bite. Perfect timing as it was just the beginning of happy hour. Unfortunately, a brief rainstorm chased us in and away from the patio. My husband loved the flavor & "playfulness" of the Blueberry Ale and I highly recommend their red sangria! We both had a cup of chowder- he a clam an me a seafood- both hot and amazing! We've been coming to Ogunquit for 20+ summers and Oarweed is our go-to place for authentic Maine seafood. If you're looking for an authentic spot with fresh (caught daily) local seafood and the most gorgeous views, Oarweed is the place to go. Don't miss it! Some of the under 3 star reviews on Yelp mention the food as being plain or not having a lot of seasoning. Some say the food isn't 'flavorful' or 'exciting.' Well, that's the point! Local seafood places in Maine don't douse their lobster rolls or steamers with dressing nor do they over season them. What you get is simple and fresh caught (across the street!) seafood without much fanfare. It's very traditional. If you're looking for fanfare and fine dining go to Legal Seafood. If you're looking for a chicken sandwich go to KFC. Some of our favorites are the 1-1/4 lobster which is sweet and juicy, the fresh steamers and the absolutely unbelievable thick clam chowder which is the best we've had anywhere. We went in for lunch this past Saturday. It was a glorious September Saturday and not a cloud in the sky. The Oarweed has a multi-million dollar location right on the Atlantic coastline. It borders the wonderful Marginal Way, which you can hike before or after your meal. All the tables have a fantastic view of the ocean and Ogunquit beach. Valet parking, next to a $15 lot and they let you stay as long as you want. So you can hike the Marginal Way after, or do a little shopping. Now the food. The menu is slim and expensive, the offerings range from clam and seafood chowder, lobster rolls, grilled cheese, baked or broiled seafood of all types (scallops, shrimps, haddock). I do not believe they have fried foods here. Portions are small to moderate. Pricey here but you pay for the view. Full bar available. read more

Last day of the season and so glad we were told about this place. We were looking for a place for dinner and were originally going to a Billy's across the street but they had over an hour wait. We saw people walking out of this restaurant and asked about the place. They raved about it and about their waitress, so In we went... sat immediately, clean everyone was so nice. We ordered a boiled lobster which was so fresh and cooked perfectly and lazy lobster. Omg delicious! It was full of lobster meats and so flavorful. Wife and I ate here on a Sunday afternoon in September after a nice walk along the Way. The short wait in line was fine, and the staff courteous. Our server, Bradley-was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the "Roby's Downeast'r" : Maine lobster roll, served with garden salad or cup of chowder With salad: $31.00With chowder: $32.50 and opted for the side of Seafood Chowder. My wife ordered a Cobb salad , and asked if she could have chicken salad on it-which Bradley was happy to accommodate. Her meal was fine. My seafood chowder quite good-with decent chunks of lobster, haddock, some small shrimp, and clams. The lobster roll was not fine. Hotdog roll with an "ok" amount of tepid lobster meat, and very bland. I assumed since it was not mixed w Mayo and lettuce that it was supposed to be a hot lobster roll. We had decided on a competitor when we began our walk down Marginal Way. The seemingly interminable walk and the fact we had not eaten lunch on a nicely warm and sunny day meant that once we got there, we were ravenously hungry. And besides, the "other" place was across the street and overlooked the canal and not the ocean. So we walked in and a nice Maitre D ' sat us in probably the best seat on the house, at the end of the outside porch where we not only had awesome views but also we had the end of the porch to ourselves with no interruptions or walkers, waiters or people going by us. The restaurant has one of the best views in Ogunquit. The views are spectacular. And we found out that it is one of the best people watching venues in town. Our dinners were... guess... Lobstah. Yes, the ubiquitous Maine Lobstah. Three different preparation methods but three succulent dishes. One was a whole lobster. One was a lobster roll. And yet one more was lobster meat atop a delicious salad. All outstanding. And as well, local brews to wash it down. Glad we came here. read more

I had the "North Atlantic Crab cheese melt Waiter says it was Snow Crab (There are at least 4 North Atlantic Crabs) This was gray mush with a partially melted American Cheese slice on lightly fried Wonder bread for $19. Do not order the crab cakes it consisted of mostly bread crumbs and spinach dry and tasteless the worst I ever had. Perhaps they were frozen pre-made? I camp in the Wells area quite frequently. I have been to this restaurant at least two times and I found the food and service to be excellent with a very pretty view. Highly recommend. I camp and travel with my two friendly and well- behave dogs all the time. They go to restaurants all the time as I don't like to leave them in the camper alone for long periods of time. Many restaurants with outside seating allow dogs including some in Ogunquit. Today, I asked someone working at Oarweed if dogs were allowed to sit outside. He said no and I was fine with tha t as I knew I would fine another dog friendly restaurant in the area and I did at Barnacle Bills. There was at least one other dog sitting outside when we arrived. My only complaint at Oarweed is the person working there told me, "It was against the law" for dogs to sit outside at his restaurant. Again, if he doesn't want dogs there, fine, but don't say something like it is against when it isn't and you clearly don't know what you are talking about. read more

This is a touristy seafood restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean. The seafood and clam chowders were quite good, but everything else was just average. We don't recommend the crab cakes and lobster roll, as they were just ok. The prices are high, given the quality of the food. For example, the lobster roll is $23.00 and there is a much better lobster roll steps away at the little place near the footbridge for less money. If you're looking for basic, no frills seafood and are willing to pay tourists prices, this place is fine, but if you want a more sophisticated culinary experience, go elsewhere. read more

My wife and I drove up to Ogunquit for a nice trip. By early afternoon, we were both starving so we were ready to get a place for lunch. We walked all around the area, passing one restaurant/food shack after another. When we came to this place, the location was awesome, the building attractive, and best of all, it looked fairly busy (but not mobbed), which is a reasonably good sign that their food must be at least decent. We only waited to be seated for a couple of minutes. We got nice table with a great view of the ocean. Our waitress was relatively young -- late teens or perhaps early twenties -- but she as knowledgeable a waitress as someone twice her age. My wife and I were leaning towards the haddock sandwich. She discouraged that saying that that this haddock was frozen, whereas the Haddock dinner would be fresh of the boat as you can get. She was right. My wife ordered that and she loved it. I went with a bacon cheese burger with fries. Oh, my goodness, it was delicious and the fries were nice crisp, and moist without being a soggy pile grease that seem to be served in a lot of places. The fries were so good, that I mowed through them way to fast!! the burger was cooked perfectly as ordered (well done) and still was not only hot, but still very juicy with a lot of flavor. We loved all the wood construction and of course, the oars! This is going to be my "go to" restaurant anytime we are in Ogunquit. read more

Now the service....while our server was great my interaction with what I assume is either the manager or owner still makes me angry days later. As I was walking from my table to use the bathroom a woman came running after me yelling and accusing me of not being a customer. I assumed it wasn't directed at me as I just left my table but she continued to follow me yelling. It was by far the strangest interaction at a restaurant I've ever had. I told her I had a table and was indeed a paying customer and she just huffed and walked away. No apologizes...nothing. Very pleasant and attentive staff. The view is obviously spectacular on a nice day. The food we had though was disappointing. We got the haddock sandwich and it was made overcooked and mashy. It did not taste like fresh haddock and with the breading and the fact it was baked, I would tend to think it was probably frozen with the breading already on it. We also got the clam chowder and it was okay. Maybe fresh clams... Just not a great food experience. Might return for drink and view but definitely not a place for fresh seafood, even if it may be fresh??? read more

The Seafood Trio was ehh. No flavor at all. Needed salt, garlic, white wine, butter and more lemon to spruce it up. The seafood was tender but I felt the seafood was cooked (boiled) and thrown on a platter with bread crumbs. Recently discovered the newer craft beer selections in Maine; add that to your drink list. The location is quite beautiful, as it is found along the ocean front. The service was accommodating and somewhat attentive. Second time do this restaurant first time I had one of their platters probably the most expensive item on the menu. Food taste OK but very small portions. Second time I had their fish sandwich nothing special it was haddock I'm not sure if they brought it there or just ordered in from a vendor. My sister, my Mom and I are new to Ogunquit. It's a vacation we all took together, as my Mom always wanted to come to Maine. She is fighting cancer and it was surely our pleasure to take Mom on this trip. Arrived last night and quickly strolled down into this beautiful, quant little town.
