Stop in for lunch on a Monday . It was very busy but they got a spot for us quickly. Ordered 1/2 onion ring app which was plenty for two. And the thinest onion rings around ! Yum. Wife got the fish and chips and I got the Pilgrim wrap (turkey,stuffing, side of gravy). Both come with sides you can choose. We got fries and homemade coleslaw. Food comes out quick and service was good. Did not get drinks and total food bill was $35. Can't beat it. We really liked it here. We met at 11:30 on a Friday for lunch, and I think it was just in time. The parking lot started filling up very quickly after that, they really get a good crowd. Our server was very friendly and on top of things. We weren't even seated for a minute before she was over asking about drinks, and not long after that she brought us a small load of yummy bread. We wished the butter was softer, and the cutting board it came on needs to be replaced, it's plastic and the paint is coming off where it gets cut (honestly we didn't think these were actually meant for serving food and cutting on but that's neither here nor there). The menu is extensive, lots of comfort foods - Mac n cheese, American chop suey and old fashioned stuff like liver & onions. They had stuff like beef pot pie and beef stew on the specials that day. And of course, all the seafood. The 1/2 & 1/2 was $22.99 for most seafood items, but market price for a few others, my mom got the whole clams & sea scallops market price for $33.99. There was SO much food. This lady can eat, and this time she needed help and still took some home. We didn't love the coleslaw, but the serving of mashed potatoes was big and yummy. I got the coconut shrimp salad. Not as impressive, but it was my own fault trying to be healthy-ish. It was just too boring - iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, mandarin oranges and chow mein noodles, with a decent amount of coconut shrimp on top. I think they were likely frozen, so I was a little bit feeling like I could have made the same thing at home, but they were good, and there was a side of orange marmalade for dipping. The dressing was directly on the shrimp though, which I thought was weird, I had to pick up the shrimp and let the dressing drizzle into the salad.. The ambience was just like you'd expect at a busy seafood joint on a busy day. Even the 6 top tables had 2 people sitting there, it was that busy. But everything happened efficiently and we thought the prices were very reasonable compared to other seafood places we've been. I ordered the Baked Stuffed Haddock. and it was terrible. The worst I have ever tried to eat. Fist of all it was not "stuffed" as it should have been. They placed a piece of fish in a baking dish and places the unseasoned bland cracker crumbs on top. It was so disappointing as I have been to this restaurant many many times and have ordered the Baked stuffed haddock and loved it. Well maybe the cooks should not have been watching the horrible Patriots' game in the kitchen and paid more attention to what they were cooking. My meal and my husbands fatty steak tips were certainly not worth the money spent. We will not be returning any time soon. I was so angry that we quickly left without taking a photo. This used to be our go-to restaurant for seafood and chowder. Yesterday, we ordered 3 bowls of fish chowder, and Lemon Meringue Pie. Every bowl of chowder was totally turned to dust, and the milk they used was sour giving us an instant stomach cramp. The pie was frozen and not fresh. To their credit, they have great service. We came in tonight, we were seated quickly our waitress was good, but the kitchen was slow. Almost 90 minutes to turn the table. Most of our party had no issues with their food and enjoyed their meals. My clam chowder was good, not bad, and not life changing but it was just "good." The broth was thick and creamy and seasoned pretty well. I had the old salt combination plate which had scallops, shrimp, clam strips, and haddock. Scallops were huge and there were 4 of them, but they were water logged and mushy. Clam strips and shrimp were good. The batter is tasty and they tasted good. Now we get to the "haddock" filet. It was a good size piece of fish in a batter, but it was not fresh haddock at all. It was fishy, firm and not flaky as haddock should be. It was unappetizing at best. Since this is a seafood place I'd expect more out of them. I am a haddock snob and very particular about my haddock. This was not satisfactory or even passable. read more

We got takeout to eat in our car tonight and it was amazing!!! Huge portions, super hot, everything was really crispy. We had fried mushrooms, fried pickles and the Old Salt combo with onion rings and coleslaw. The piece of haddock was perfectly cooked, the scallops were tender & sweet and both the fried mushrooms & pickles were super delicious, with a yummy creamy dip. The coleslaw was crunchy and not too sweet, just enough dressing. The tartar and cocktail sauces were really good too. The onion rings were good, but I prefer thick cut rings, and these were thin and floppy. The shrimp were just ok and only a few of the clam strips were really good- most were really skinny and mostly batter. But the rest was so good, I didn't mind. I probably just won't get shrimp/clams there again. Service was friendly and very fast. They said it would be 15-20 minutes and brought it out to the car at 20 minutes on the dot. read more

My wife and I went to the Windjammers Seafood restaurant for the first time. We wanted to have dinner prior to attending a performance at the Rochester Opera House, which is right around the corner. We arrived at 5:10 and we waited 20 minutes for a table. As we were leaving at 6:30, there was no line, no waiting. I had the large portion of fried clam strips, which were very good. Be advised: the portions here are much larger than at most restaurants these days. There was way more than I could eat! Next time I will order the smaller portion. I tried the mashed potatoes, which were very good. The bread was outstanding. My wife had a 1/2 fried clam strips and 1/2 fried haddock. She enjoyed both very much. Our waitress Barb was very nice. Despite the large number of people dining, the noise level was low. We had a very nice corner table for two. Again, compared to most restaurants, the prices here are very reasonable. Went here with my husband and mother in law for my birthday. We all got the fish and chips. Mine was a little overcooked (darker than the other two but not quite burnt) and slightly greasy, like maybe it was fried twice? It still tasted quite good so I didn't say anything as it was pretty busy. We've been here before several times and have had no issue.
