Yum!!!

First of all, just know that they only accept cash, no credit cards. But that said, this was a wonderful find, if you love fresh seafood. Had the scallops basket, and the scallops were so fresh and juicy! Actually, after learning that they only accept cash, I found myself 16 cents short, so I was about to order something else, but the young man taking my order, allowed me to get the scallop basket anyway! No indoor seating. Picnic tables nearby. Sits right along Alton Bay, so nice scenery to look at. Will stop by again, if in the neighborhood, but this time bringing lots of cash!

Stopped by pops on the way back from a hike. It was still pretty early so the line wasn't too bad. The girl working the register was very nice and helpful. We got a medium onion ring and a burger. The onion rings needed salt but besides that they were perfect. Definitely the best ones I've had and the portion size was insane! The burger and fries were decent.

Good fries not the best I ever had tho. Good chicken fingers. Really nice people that work here. A frisbee comes with the kids meal!!! Good vibes. Has a top deck sitting area

Food was bland. Thought it would be great with so many people there but the lack of flavor was very disappointing.

Food is delicious! Perfect fried claims and the onion rings are also a go to! We go at least 4 times a season!

Pops has the best fried clams, and I've tried them all over New England. Split the seafood plate.

Shibley's At the Pier - Lobster Rangoon

What a pleasant surprise this was. We enjoyed a very nice lunch with some nice views of Alton Bay…read more The hostess and our server were incredibly friendly, and food came from the kitchen very quickly. We liked the fact that some apps could be ordered by the piece (coconut shrimp, lobster rangoon), so you could mix or match or scale up or down based on your party size and appetite. I ordered a turkey gobbler wrap, which seemed a little off the trail as it is usually served as a sandwich, and had ingredients like hot peppers. Overall good, but I think better with bread. The coconut shrimp starter was very good and the twist here is that it was served with a coconut creme sauce, rather than the traditional orange marmalade. A nice spot for lunch with a view, and we would stop in again when in Alton Bay

We ordered a variety of foods from a Malaysian lamb wrap - mild domestic ground lamb with Malaysian spic rub, slow roasted tomatoes, grilled eggplant, zucchini, peppers lettuce and tzatziki sauce as well as NY Style pastrami with black pepper and molasses. Served with a toasted bulky with bread and butter pickles yellow mustard and cheese as well as a toasted reuben- corned beef brisket served on grilled rye bread with Swiss cheese, thousand island and sauerkraut. The food was pretty good. What struck me odd was that I asked for a Diet Coke (Waitress never said it was Pepsi - I subsequently found that out on the menu) and they do not do complimentary refills (strange for a higher end lunch place). It overlooks Alton Bay which is a nice view. It is also style from a few decades back- I think they could use a re do here.

Pub 23 - Parmesan wings

We were the only ones in the dining area; there were 2 gentleman at the bar & shortly after we ordered, a couple came in. It was a very slow night for Pub 23. It was extremely cold inside the restaurant, to start. The energy was lackluster from the 2 employees that we were in contact with. It felt like we were an inconvenience. Both my grandmother & I ordered the fish & chips. Mine arrived with not one, but TWO long strands of hair intertwined in the fries & intact with the fish. Wouldn't you think the first thing the waitress would do is take the entire plate back? No, the pieces that had hair on it were removed & the plate left in front of me. I sat there in shock thinking, "You expect me to eat this?" She returned 5 minutes later & took the plate to provide a fresh one AFTER we had to ask. For menu items, it is not recommended to get the steak & cheese or the Pub 23 burger. The burger was a total mess; had to be eaten with a fork & knife. The steak & cheese was salty & slathered in a sauce w/ chewy cubed steak. We chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. My mother asked our waitress if they offer anything for birthdays or if they sing, etc. The waitress snapped with an attitude: "Um no, I don't sing". POSITIVES: The fried pickles are delicious & large! The parmesan wings were cooked well, nice flavor. I hate to say this but I have no desire to return.

This rustic restaurant and bar overlooks Lake Winnipesaukee boat launch. The place has table seating and seating at the full service bar. The food menu was recently updated (new items & prices in July 2025) including a selection of appetizers, wings, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, chicken tenders, steaks, fried haddock, lobster rolls, steamed lobster, BYO mac & cheese. The prices are moderate and similar to other restaurants in this area. I took a seat up at the bar after they opened at 11:30am. Most people arriving took seats at tables. I ordered the BYO Mac & Cheese ($16 plus tax) with cubed steak ($3 plus tax). My food came out in about 10 minutes. The portion size was pretty good which had rich creamy cheesy soft elbow macaroni topped with plenty of grilled tender pieces of steak, bleu cheese dipping cup on the side. There was also ketchup nearby if I wanted. I finished the entire entree and got the check which was $17.36 with tax and before tip. Overall, the mac & cheese with steak was pretty good and filling to eat. The service at the bar was adequate, though it started to get busy as I was finishing up lunch.

We also discussed black raspberry ice cream. They sell both soft serve and hard ice cream. They flavor there soft serve with syrup so you can get black raspberry soft serve. The picnic benches outside were nice to eat at. The fried clams were very good. I enjoyed having lemon wedges, catsup and tarter sauce. I truly didn't need the fries and Cole slaw. It was plenty enough food. I decided to go for the black raspberry hard ice cream and boy was I disappointed. I got a pile of pink incense cream that didn't taste like black raspberry at all. I've eaten this flavor in a New England since I was a child. My first job was scooping ice cream at the Broadway dinner in Worcester, MA. There was NO way that was black raspberry. I told the 2nd girl that helped me and she said that's just the way it comes. On top of it there was something white hanging off the side. She replaced it with black raspberry Oreo and that was purple and tasted like dirty black raspberry. I had a hard time eating it and would never have their ice cream again. Pops has better seafood and the ice cream place across the street was better as well.

This cute little diner serves up homecooked breakfast and lunch fare in Alton Bay. The prices here are very reasonable, most entrees $5-$12, a bargain in a very touristy area. The place is very cramped and cozy with 5 booths and 11 stools at the lunch counter, kitchen in the back. I stopped in here recently for lunch during the week on a Tuesday since I know many places in Alton Bay can get crazy busy on the weekends. I sat up at the lunch counter for prompt service. Also, the place was moderately busy during weekday lunch with all booths occupied. I ordered a weekday special, which was a Steak Tip Sub served with hand cut shoestring fries and soft drink (Coke fountain drinks) for only $7.50 plus tax. My food arrive hot in about 10 minutes. The steak tip sub was filled with tender pieces of grilled steak (cooked to my liking) and smothered with American cheese, grilled peppers and onions on a toasted firm hoagie roll. The handcut shoestring fries were golden and lightly salted. I took my time to enjoy my lunch and planning out my day on the lake. The lunch check with tax and before tip was $8.18.
