    Lobster bisque
    Christina H.

Love this place. Super authentic! Great ambiance. Nice owners. I had the lobster roll which I enjoyed. My brothers had the 1.5 lb cooked lobster. They both loved it! I also had the lobster bisque which was delicious and very flavorful. Next time I'll try the clam chowder. I also had the oysters on the half shell which was a good value. Didn't care for the Cole slaw, but the potato salad was good. We ate our food so quickly that I didn't get many pics of the food. The outside dining is on a pier and is very comfortable and relaxing.

Contrary to Yelp's status, this place IS open (as of May 29, 2022). Found this place on Google maps and decided to walk over from Portsmouth. First, the main pro -- the location cannot be beat! Right on the waterfront, on the dock. They have the lobsters alive and on display as you walk in. Morrison's only has the cold, mayonnaise, "traditional" lobster roll. The lobster roll comes with a bag of Utz potato chips, and as of May 2022 was priced at $27 a roll. The lobster itself was good, but portions were pretty small. The bread itself is just normal white bread. I liked how the lobster wasn't too drenched in mayo. Tax and a 15% tip is included in the final bill. Overall, worth a visit, but lobster roll felt a little overpriced for the amount.

This place is a hidden gem! Off the beaten path and hidden from the main road but they know what they are doing! Very authentic lobster shop! Menu may be small but it has all the lobster essentials! Lobsters are cooking right as you walk in. The woman running the place was delightful. BYOB. I got the lobster roll and it was a large portion of meat. The bun was perfectly toasted as well. Others in my party had the garden salad with lobster and they as well received a lot of meat in there salads. Lobster was quality. Not too much mayo, lightly dressed and could really taste the sweetness and freshness of the lobster. The view from the deck is also lovely. The harbor with all the boats and the bridge. Hank the schnauzer was a bonus too as he was a great dining companion!

Great food, great view, great service. I walked across the bridge to get here and wasn't disappointed. Follow the signs and it's in the back of a house. I went when it wasn't busy so I was able to sit on the patio under the shade and enjoyed myself immensely!

The negative reviews on here are ridiculous. We found this place by walking across the bridge and finding a more calm, quiet atmosphere than the rat race in Portsmouth. We got some beer across the street at a convenience store to drink while we waited for a table. The two women running the whole place were quick and efficient, I didn't need them to slow down and exchange pleasantries, they're running a well oiled machine. We ordered the steamers cause some local guy came stumbling out highly recommending them and he was right! I never had a steamer before but I am still thinking about them! They were so buttery and salty and delicious. I even ate the "foot" or the neck and it tasted like a shrimp. Id drive to Maine specifically for that bucket of steamers!! The lobster roll was also delicious and filling. The bun wasn't soggy at all. And if it has Costco mayonnaise as suggested by another reviewer, then I guess I am a fan of Costco mayo. This place is great! Amazing views, great food, less people! Come here. They did add the tip to our check for two people so watch out for that, but otherwise, it was fab.

Morrison's Lobsters is a hidden gem tucked away on Badgers Island, which has outside seating out on a wooden deck along the banks of the Piscataqua River with great views of the Portsmouth skyline and the bridges. I was here for an UYE (Unofficial Yelp Event), organized by Don W., which took place on a very hot sunny Sunday afternoon with the nice warm breeze from the water softly blowing at us. Ditto to Don W. and Rebecca O.'s reviews. The menu is simple, which offers lobsters, lobster rolls, hot dogs, chips, potato salad, cole slaw, lobster bisque, clam chowder, canned soda, and bottled water. Since no alcohol is served here, it's BYOB! The waitress came outside to take our orders. I started out with a cup of half & half lobster bisque & clam chowder ($4.50) mixed together, which passed the "spoon test" and tasted decent. However, I'd get the lobster bisque by itself next time. Most of my party ordered Lobsters (Market Price plus $3 steam and setup charge per person eating lobster) and no cheesy looking "plastic bibs" were provided like at many touristy establishments. I had a Lobster Roll with Cape Cod chips ($12), and a side of potato salad ($1), which was very good and tasty. I finished my can of Diet Coke and needed another one, but the waitress was nowhere around. Don W. graciously grabbed more melted butter for the lobster and another Diet Coke for me using an "honor system", later adding $1.50 to the check. After we were finished with the meal, the waitress brought out the damages (check) and quickly left. Tax and 15 percent tip are included in the check, parties of 6 or more 20 percent tip included. We tallied up the check plus additional tip and left the money on the counter since no one was around. The waitress came outside as we were leaving to say goodbye and retrieved the money on the counter. Overall, I like this place since it's not mobbed and I can enjoy my food in a relaxed and laid back setting and take in the great views of the Piscataqua River and the Portsmouth skyline.

I finally made it to Morrison's Lobsters! It is more or less a small shack on the water with a big dock out on the water (see pics). I agree with Don that the service is spotty. The owner woman is nice and all but it appears to be a 1-2 person run operation. The menu is small. Very small. -Lobsters, steamed. -Lobster Roll w/ Chips ($13) -Clam Chowder (Small $4.95 lg $6.95) -Lobster Bisque -Steamers Sides are potato salad or slaw. That's it . I did not see any bowwows on the menu. I thought it was pretty pricey. We had 1 lobster roll and 2 chowders & 1 bottle water for $31. Tax & tip are included in the price. The setting on the water is just lovely. PS As Don suggested, we parked in Portsmouth and walked over the bridge which was fun. We even got to see it go up and let the large boats pass. Cool!

We stopped through this town briefly on our way to Maine. We walked around for awhile before we decided to walk across the bridge and dine here. When we realized it was byob there conveniently was a little store right down the street where we got some cold beers to go with an amazing lunch. We waited a bit for our table because it was busy but completely worth it. The two ladies who ran everything were working very hard to service the masses. We enjoyed amazing fresh steamed clams which I've never had to this caliber. Combined with a little Dixie cup of butter it was the perfect accompaniment. We also enjoyed lobster rolls and chips. Sitting outside on the water fueled my soul. Such a great lunch. I highly recommend it!

$29 and $19 lobster roll Not worth it

Just fine , nothing special Other place is better Arrived at 4 pm, the whole deck had only 1 person working Chowder was end of the pot - too salty 1 lobster was $29 and skinny lobster roll was $19 I had a other places were better

From the deck at Morrison's, you can watch the lobster boats come and go.
    Don W.

I went back to Morrison's for the first time this year. Service seemed better than I remember last year, but it's still really laid back. If you're not eating lobster or drinking soda, bring it. There's parking, but it's walking distance to Portsmouth and if want to check out the city, park in Portsmouth and walk over the bridge to Morrison's. It's pricey, but a bit cheaper than Chauncey Creek or the Blue Claw. And the tip is included so remember that when you're thinking about how much to tip. Quick update (4/21/12): You can only walk to Morrison's from Portsmouth when the bridge is there. In 2012 and probably much of 2013, they're replacing the bridge so you can't walk there from Portsmouth.

    Kevin B.

The freshest and most delicious lobster in Maine. They do not serve alcohol on premises, but server told us of convenience store down the block to purchase beer. The 1/2 bisque 1/2 chowder was amazing. Great service and hospitality.

I didn't notice it until I drunk The water down. Wasn't paying too much attention, because of the type of restaurant I was at. The seafood chowder was amazing. When it came to the entrée, I asked him should I get the muscles or should I get the pasta? I don't think he even knew what he was talking about or even care. He suggested a pasta that he said has a hint of redness to it due to the spice, but it was a creamy Alfredo spicy creamy Alfredo to be exact. The sauce is very delicious because you can tell that it was homemade tomato based sauce, but I can't eat it. He explained the pasta to me as if it was a cream sauce with spiciness in it. Which this was not the case the sauce, a tomato base sauce, which I cannot eat because of acid reflux. The pasta looks like something out of a children's menu not even worth what I spent on it, but I paid for it. I would have tipped him anyways, very well as I always do. I ended up tipping him his 25% but I should not have. The only reason I tip this was because you offered to take it back in a sarcastic manner like most Service do awe no trying to play dumbfounded! When you could have just said well, this is a red base sauce. Or I'm not sure ma'am, and I would have ordered the muscles. I probably would've tipped you more just because was honest. When I said you just got your 25%, which was not even worth it cause my food went in the trash. You even saw I did not eat it. You never even offered a second time to say hey I noticed you didn't eat this can I just get u something else? Let me take this off your bill or let me take it back. Not wanting to send the food back I just kept it and dealt with it and ate the seafood out of it. This was a waste of $30 for something I can't eat and did not eat. You guys should really make sure that your Service know they're menu you and know what's in it. The sauce was a full base tomato sauce no spiciness to it. No cream sauce. I asked for no salt in my margarita, but the margarita clearly was salty. Or maybe it was the mix I don't know it tasted salty. This restaurant was just not for me maybe for others, but it just didn't work out for me one and done! I was very clear on the sauce that I wanted, and you still gave me red sauce. This is what the food look like before leaving

The server kept running away, no time to give feedback. More attention to our plates and our ordering, than for us and our experience. Though the beef itself was very good, the entire dish came off like a TV dinner - the sauce was supposed to be peppercorn. It was not. It degraded the entire dish, horribly. So sad for the elements to be buried in that slop. Potatoes were also very odd. For the price we paid, I would rather have had my money back and give my husband a much better birthday experience for somewhere else. Honestly devastating, and definitely cannot guarantee a recommendation from me, if this restaurant is not only inconsistent, but such a waste of so much money. With that in mind, we had visitors from NJ who wanted a seafood dinner, and so I suggested we meet at Jumping Jays. Our server was pleasant and our appetizers came out promptly and were good. Unfortunately all 5 entrees were not good as everything was very overcooked. The halibut dishes, salmon, scallops, all overcooked and dried out fish and scallops like rubber. Our waitress asked how things were and I said OK as we did not want to make a big to do, as our friends were picking up the tab. I was so embarrassed that I took them here. I did ask my friend about his fish and he said "dried out". Uggh. I did reach out to the restaurant directly on their website via email shortly after, but there was no response. Not sure what to make of that either. Every restaurant might have a bad night, but 5 bad entrees? I am hoping this is a short term problem. We had some other friends who joined us for the original review I wrote and asked to go back here, but I declined saying something is off right now. I hope my experience was a one off, but I'll watch the reviews here before I return and will not be able to recommend this restaurant going forward.
