My family has been dining at Bob's for over 50 years. It has long been a favorite stop on our trips through Maine, and we have frequently recommended it to friends for its top-notch fried seafood. We have event driven from New Hampshire to Kittery wioth th expressed purpose of eating fresh seaford. Unfortunately, during our last two visits, the food quality has significantly declined. While we initially hoped the first instance was just an isolated off-night, our experience last evening confirmed that the quality is no longer what we have accustomed ourselves to over the decades. Regrettably, given the cost of dining out and the importance of food quality, we will no longer be including Bob's in our travel plans. unsure of the other not so great reviews, because I personally had a great experience there. it's a no frills type of place just off the highway, but it's a well oiled machine of a clam hut that will have your food ready pretty quickly. I had the lobster roll with hot butter, which they put on themselves, instead of giving you the tiny cup of clarified butter. I asked for lemon wedges which I was told is a pro tip, and it was, because it really does pair nicely with the fresh lobster. it's market price so it came out to be $35 with tax, which is about on par if not a couple dollars more than the other lobster rolls I've had in maine. the roll itself was buttered and browned which added a nice crunch to it, and came with french fries, and a few slices of pickles in a basket. since it was my first time eating there I went for the traditional basket, aka not opting for the sweet potato fries for a small additional fee. either way you can't go wrong. i'd definitely come back to this local favorite. not a complaint, but more of an observation: I do wish they had dessert. a nice homemade wild blueberry pie would be an excellent addition to the menu given it's located in maine. read more

Tried one more lobster roll in my short trip in Maine. The roll was nice. Wish I got just butter instead of mayo though. The fried haddock sand was light and fluffy. The hot dog was a hot dog. We flew out here from Los Angeles for an impromptu Maine trip. We've never had lobster rolls, so our first order of business of course was trying some. Bob's was on our way from the airport to the hotel, so we stopped by. I hope this experience is indicative of what to expect over the next week, because this was great! The guy we ordered from was nice. He was patient with all our questions about what all the different beers were. Once we chose our beers, we tried one of the hot butter lobster rolls and one of the cold mayo lobster rolls. They were both phenomenal. I liked the hot one better, and my wife liked the cold one better. But we both enjoyed both. We brought our dog, so we sat out in the back patio area, which we really enjoyed. Bob's is located conveniently off 95 and is a great spot to visit if you're in Kittery or heading north. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Seats are first come, first served, but they are plentiful. Parking can be a challenge, but there is a big lot next door that's a short walk. We got cold lobster rolls. They come with fried pickles. The fries are great with their homemade tartar sauce. Honestly, I'd buy just the pickles if I could. They are the right amount of tart and garlicky. The cold lobster rolls are top 3. And I've had a lot of lobster rolls! A big serving of meat, rightly dressed, and perfectly cooked. The buns are buttery and toasted. Yum! Pro tip: they have online ordering. Bob's Clam Hut NEVER disappoints! I stop by here every time I visit Kittery Maine and usually end up ordering a variety of the same items: scallops, whole clams, fish. They provide generous portions and the seafood is always fresh. I love the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce that comes with the fried seafood. You really cannot get this type of food anywhere else and it's perfect to share with a group. My family always gets the boxes which come in 1/2 pint, full pint, or quart. Usually 2 quarts of different seafoods is enough for 5 people (in my opinion). During my most recent trip, my friend and I ordered a 1/2 pint of whole clams and a pint of scallops and we had leftovers to take home. Again, the portions are generous, usually the boxes are overflowing. There are two lots on either side of the restaurant, one is much larger than the other. If you're having a difficult time finding parking, there are plenty of other parking lots nearby, just a short walk away. Pricing is as you would expect, staff are all super nice! The fried scallops for me could have been crispier batter, their style is light coating it seemed which kind of fell off for me before even squeezing any lemon on but overall still fresh and good! The lady enjoyed her full clam belly plate, fries weee nice and crispy. All the condiments can be found at the many stations, ketchup, hot sauce, tartar, mayo salt pepper etc. The clam chowder was too watery for my taste and bland, but toss some pepper and salt in and we're good. After waiting in line for 20 minutes or so, we finally ordered our food and grabbed a table inside. 45 minutes later our number was called. Fried scallop basket was excellent. You can tell the scallops were fresh. Fries were tasty too. Crab cake sandwich could have been a little hotter, but it was good nonetheless. Got a side clam cake to try it, I enjoyed that more than the crab cake. $58 for lunch for two seems steep, but it's the going rate these days. My mom and I split a basket of their whole belly clams--it's large enough for two people. The clams are tasty and perfectly fried, plus I really enjoy their tartar sauce. It comes with fries and coleslaw as well. Prices are pretty comparable to other places but be prepared to spend a lot.... They have plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. I've been here in the summer and this place can get pretty packed. The decor is also a fun theme and they seem to have remodeled each time I visit. Sometimes in the summer when you have to pick up your food outside it can be hard to hear your number called on the microphone so I usually stand close and wait.
