Great food for a fair price! We came in for the wicked cheep twin lobsters on Thursdays - what a great deal! Andre was our server and was awesome, honestly made the night for us. Cute lil vibe inside quiet music so easy to talk to everyone at the table. Chowder was a last min add neither of us regretted.

Grilled chicken sandwich, and a small amount of French fries. Tasty though.

Our routine has been to stop in for lunch after driving up the coast from our state. We generally get here right at lunch opening. Today we were seated right away and contacted by the peasant server quickly. Decided to try the fried haddock sandwich. Got one as listed with sourdough bread and we wanted to switch out the bread for something else. They only had a hamburger bun to swap so we went with that. Sandwich was very tasty, the sourdough tasted like a toasted sandwich bread which was nice. Also had a cup of clam chowder. Rich and creamy and very tasty.

Wow! What an awesome blast from the past! Steamed clams served fresh from this quaint little place on the Maine coast!

This was good, not great. I can only judge on my one visit. I had shrimp cocktail and the clam chowder. The shrimp were chilled and properly cooked, but there was barely any cocktail sauce to dip them in - it comes in the base of the glass. The clam chowder was decent but mine didn't have many clams. Maybe it was just the luck of the ladle. My friends had the fish chowder and fish and chips which they seemed to enjoy. The fish and chips looked crispy, not greasy. Definitely a good spot to stop for lunch if you were just over looking at the Kittery Trading Post. It's literally just across the street and they have plenty of seating. Our server was pleasant, but we had to chase her down for the check.

Oh my this was great! Waitress Christina was fabulous. Went to a different place first but this place had better parking and access to the restaurant

The Maple Salmon was amazing! Great portion sizes. I couldn't even finish the salmon. Bartender was very sweet.

Weathervane Seafood Restaurant is always my 'go to' for consistently fresh seafood and delicious sides. I like to sit at the bar and chat with the friendly customers and employees. The environment is like being at home, laid back and relaxing, perfect for a great chill vibe for enjoying a seafood meal and for smooth digestion!

We ate here many years ago and stopped here again for lunch. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly attentive waitress, nice menu. We ordered the fish chowder made with haddock, fish and chips and grilled salmon with an apple maple glaze. Everything was tasty, came hot hot, plated nicely. Great batter on the fried fish and the salmon was tender and seasoned nicely. We enjoyed our lunch. Prices on par with the area. We had a memorable meal.

Cozy down home restaurant with tasty fried options. We went for lunch today, and we're seated promptly. We ordered the onion centers as well as the baked haddock and fish and chips. Everything was delicious and we will return!

We stopped by after a long beach day and there was no wait to sit down. Our server Tijana was very smiley and kind, and was an overall excellent server. We ordered a clam chowder bowl to share and two orders of steamers. The steamers were 1/2 lb per bucket and surprisingly had a lot of clams. They were so good and so fresh and so so worth it. The restaurant itself seemed a little dated in the inside, but will definitely come back again!

I've been to Weathervane every time I've been in Maine on vacation. We first came here in 2000, and the food had always been incredible. My husband and I were here last week on our anniversary trip, and I told him this is THE place for lobster. I forgot how massive the restaurant is, but it's also very charming. We split the twin lobsters and ordered broccoli and mashed potatoes as our side. I informed our waitress about my need for gluten free, and it wasn't an issue at all. (Their website claims they offer GF bread for lobster rolls.) My husband is still talking about how incredible that lobster was, and he said it was one of his favorite places we went to on our trip. We're already planning our next vacation in New England, so we will definitely be back!

Food is average, service is pretty good and the restaurant itself is in need of a facelift. Today I had the broiled Halibut with a side of fries. You can get the fish fried as well. The broiled version was on the bland side...I wish they offered grilled as an option but they don't. I have eaten here before and ordered the fried clams which were pretty good and serving size was very nice for the price. Overall, not overly impressed with the place. They do have a nice menu and I'm sure the fried seafood dishes are very good. My recommendation would be their fried belly clam platter. Bon appétit

Hasn't changed much in the 15 years we've driven up Rte 1 in Maine. We stop out of habit or maybe tradition? Prices are high for fresh seafood. The coating on fried food is very good, light and flaky. IMO, the chowder is canned for sure and way thick. Portions are big for things like a haddock fish sandwich and most everything is loaded with fries. We split a special fried scallops and fresh whole clams dinner which came with fries and cole slaw. Asked to sub the fries with onion rings knowing there'd be a small up charge but when they said $5, we said no thank you. Whole belly clams were delicious, clean and tasty. Scallops were small. I HATE it when it seems they've cut a big beautiful sea scallop in half to give the illusion of more. Tasty but bring your wallet!

First one was that there is plenty of parking. And plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather allows that. When we first got in the hostess told me it would be about 10 minutes, but we were welcome to sit and look at the menu till they called us for the table. It was only a 5 minute wait and at first I was surprised we couldn't just be served at the large high table at the entrance where we were seated and waiting which looked like it was for several parties or even one large party, but even when we were leaving that table was empty so I guess they either save it for a very large party or just for people to sit at while they wait for their table like we did. Either way we didn't wait long so that didn't bother me as I thought it might at first. When we were seated, service was extremely fast, so fast that at first I thought they just want us out. :p but they are just that good. And our waitress brought me my soda without ice which many servers forget and would get me a refill before I was even done with the soda and even asked if we wanted water as soon as we sat and bright us some. When the food arrived (which as I mentioned was extremely fast even though the place was packed), everything was amazing. We started with shrimp and the Brie which were in the specials. Shrimp was fresh and you could really tell, and the Brie had a nice assortment of apple slices, almond slices, bread and cranberries making it feel like you were also having a healthy meal with your pizza and fried food :p. We had the truffle mushroom pizza and the only complaint my mother had was that it had onions and rocket which she didn't like on the pizza, but that was her fault for not reading it on the menu as we could have easily just asked for it not to have that. She just saw truffle, mushrooms and ricotta cheese and said im having that. Which was what I wanted too but I was ok with everything else too. Well we both enjoyed it and I even took the left over pizza to have for dinner later :). I don't live nearby, but it is a place I would recommend to others who go by there and when we come near here again I know where to go eat if I'm in the mood for pizza. The only complaint is that it was too loud for us, almost felt like a sports bar without the sports tvs playing everywhere, however they do have take out as well, so you do have that option too if you live nearby.

Plenty of lot parking so that's always a plus. We walked in on Friday for lunch and it was fairly full but we were seated quickly and orders taken. Very rustic ambience and service was quick. Unfortunately, the food was just ok and didn't knock my socks off. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, pork belly steam buns and the margherita pizza. Brussels were fried nicely but the ginger sesame sauce was very strong and I would probably preferred the sauce on the side. Pork belly buns were just ok as well. We were here for the pizza so were excited to try it - pizza unfortunately was just ok as well. Food is subjective and always based on preference so please take this review with a grain of salt - pizza was a bit doughier than I'd like - I prob should've asked for it to be well done if even possible and the sauce tasted heavy on the oregano - not something I'm a big fan of. All in all - not bad but not great. I just had such high expectations - maybe a different pizza might've changed my mind. But def don't skip out on going next door to try some samples and get some bread - the bread is amazingly delicious.

If you're with a bigger group, definitely get the family plate to try a little bit of everything. You get four large sides, half a chicken, jalapeño cheddar sausage, brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. But the mac and cheese? Oh wow that is so good. And the jalapeño cheddar cornbread is even better. Not dry at all--most yet crispy on the sides from the grill. But finishing it off with the German chocolate flourless cake is the best part at the end. So decadent... The service is always great when you go here. Great flavor and crispy skin but slightly dry 8/10 Other food notes * Only one barbecue sauce option which was just okay * Banana pudding was decent * Apple cobbler was enjoyed but charging $1 for ice cream feels unnecessary * Sweet tea was good but not standout Service * This was the biggest downside * We ran out of paper towels and were told we had napkins and wipes instead of being given more * Never really checked on or asked if we needed anything * Felt a bit dismissive and put a damper on the experience Overall Good if you are splitting and want leftovers, but some items were hit or miss and service could be better. Must order items for ribs however today's ribs were pretty salty and the chicken adding the barbecue sauce on kinda hid the salt, but I shouldn't have to do that.

This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.

The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. Our order was taken in a timely manner and with a smile. I started with the coconut carrot ginger soup for my starter. I added a grilled bread basket with butter as it is not included with your meal and I like bread with my soup. The soup was a decent soup and the bread was slight charred in places. As for my main course, I went with the braised short ribs served with polenta and roasted root vegetables. The red wine demi glace was good and the root vegetables were inconsistently roasted as some were a little too hard and some mushy. Short ribs were not consistently seasoned as I got salty in some bites and well seasoned in others. I was disappointed that my short ribs were stringy as well and that was not what I expected. The dessert was an apple tart. The shell was somewhat hard and difficult to cut into with the spoon provided. Flavors were good. My overall experience was that it was just ok but nothing stood out to me as out of the ordinary or special about it. So go if you want to and maybe your experience will be better than mine.
