Shanghai Chicken sandwich with fake chicken
Andrew M. M.

We were looking for a lunch spot while in Portsmouth and found the Street. What a great place with good food. A globally inspired menu and I loved that they had 'fake chicken' as an option. The Shanghai chicken sandwich with the fake chicken was very good. I liked the combination of the chicken, slaw and dressing. It wasn't too large and included chips had some zing. The only "miss" for us was the Subarashii fries. There was just too much food for an app portion and it was drowning in sauce. The decor was cool and inspired.

Ivy's poison

Good food overall, but hit or miss on how good. The Thai ribs were awesome and the Cubano was good. So was the Ivy's poison (drink). The bibimbop was okay, it was better once I asked for gochujang. Would go again for the diversity of menu. But probably not the top of my list

Great restaurant with a varied menu. Great cocktails. Tiki bar vibe. Friendly and engaging waitstaff. Overall great lunch.

Cemita burger

Very good lunch in Portsmouth. If you get anything, get the curry fries, they were soooo good and unique. The sauce was very tasty and loaded and somehow the fries stayed super crispy. My friend got the Shanghai chicken and enjoyed it. The Cemita burger was very flavorful and cooked well. Thought it was odd everything was served with house made tortilla chips but they were actually very good. Service was quick and friendly despite the restaurant being super busy. Only downside was by the time our meals came we were too full on the fries to fully enjoy!

Me and my boyfriend searched through TikTok for what to eat while visiting for one day in Portsmouth and boy am I glad we landed on street. I am still thinking of those curry fries even days later. Their food was delicious, especially the side meat of Porchetta. Wasn't the biggest fan of their Korean Beef but everything else was so good they still got 5 stars in my book. The vibes inside were really unique and super fun. There was a short line and the restaurant was PACKED on a Friday for lunch. They were very accommodating to my gluten and dairy allergies and my server was the sweetest! Special shout out to the pinto beans, they were epic. Would totally come back just to inhale the curry fries. Highly recommend to foodies looking for a quick bite!

Falafel sandwich

Falafel was wonderful and a huge portion. The curry fries were very good! The service was great as well. Awesome ambiance and really cool vibes. Prices were a tiny bit high for lunch. About $20 to include the fries and feta.

Happy hour deals were great! Top tier fish tacos and fries. The menu is very diverse, something for everyone

Was lucky to find a spot at the bar for a delicious lunch. The atmosphere, friendly bartender (even while busy), and food was delicious!!

BIBIMBAP

I love the concept of this restaurant! There are so many options to pick from! I got the Korean bibimbap and it didn't disappoint. That was the most recommended dish on their menu. The portion was very big and could be shared between two people. The restaurant wasn't too noisy or crowded during lunch which was nice. If you're in Portsmouth and want to try a variety of foods, definitely give Street a try.

Overall: incredibly surprised by the tastiness of the assortment of fusion they had going on. Between Korean bibimbap to Latin American dishes like the Cemita this place really wide ranged it. But it didn't sacrifice on the flavor which it definitely packed. Food: the subarashii fries themselves were above average already being crispy and potatoey, but the kimchi ketchup puts it over the top. I've had Bulgogi fries but this is a completely new spin on a Asian poutine esq dish. The cemita was absolutely loaded with goods. The slab of melted cheese combined with the slices of avocado. The burger patty itself tasted better than your average ole ground beef patty. Perhaps they ground up their own meat? Ambience/Decor/Service: a super cool setup with very hipster antique modern vibes. Unsure if that's even a description but they have a cool bar super kind waiters/waitresses. The place is a tad bit expensive but the portions are scaled accordingly!

Street is one of my favorite NH restaurants. I've been to both the Portsmouth and Exeter locations a few times each. Today I had the congee special which was soooo good, and the curry fries which are my favorite item, with a side of the Vietnamese chicken for some more protein. You can't go wrong here, but the cemita sandwich is the fan favorite and the curry fries are like crack.

Pita and SUBARASHII fries

Stopped on our way into Portsmouth on the weekend and it was packed. We waited a bit for our table but the wait for the food was wayyyy too long. So much so that once our server took our order, he never came back to even give a heads up that it might take over 45 mins for the food to arrive. And by then, the lunch crowd had disappeared and we were one of a handful of tables left. When I asked the manager/hostess if there's a delay, I could sense the exasperation but then in a min or so, she got our lunch out. Which made me wonder if it had been sitting on the kitchen counter... finally, lunch was close to 2:30. The reason we even stopped here was because the menu featured cuisines from all over the world. It kinda does but the flavors aren't like the traditional dish. So while the food we ordered (wings, huevos rancheros, Singapore salad, falafel) was good, none of it tasted authentic. The portions are also huge and so it's the price. I wish they did half portions like they so with the salad so that you aren't stuck with so much leftovers. Either way, the service left much to be desired. Don't make a hungry party wait without acknowledging it and checking in on them.

Curry Fries with Curry Mayo on the fries served with curry ketchup! Surprisingly great!

I decided to make a reservation to take advantage of their special promotion during Restaurant Week. I made a reservation through Open Table and our table was ready when we arrived. Place is small but tables are well spaced to allow for privacy. We were presented with their restaurant week menu as well as a limited regular menu for add-ons. Our order was taken in a timely manner and with a smile. I started with the coconut carrot ginger soup for my starter. I added a grilled bread basket with butter as it is not included with your meal and I like bread with my soup. The soup was a decent soup and the bread was slight charred in places. As for my main course, I went with the braised short ribs served with polenta and roasted root vegetables. The red wine demi glace was good and the root vegetables were inconsistently roasted as some were a little too hard and some mushy. Short ribs were not consistently seasoned as I got salty in some bites and well seasoned in others. I was disappointed that my short ribs were stringy as well and that was not what I expected. The dessert was an apple tart. The shell was somewhat hard and difficult to cut into with the spoon provided. Flavors were good. My overall experience was that it was just ok but nothing stood out to me as out of the ordinary or special about it. So go if you want to and maybe your experience will be better than mine.

We chose seats at the comfortable-looking bar, which was a great spot to start the evening and soak in the warm, antique, historical vibe of the space -- lots of character without feeling stuffy. We built our own dinner from a mix of appetizers, and everything we tried was excellent. The local cheese plate featured a soft, brie-like cheese that was rich and delicious. We also ordered the mussels, which were a standout -- especially the mustard component. I wouldn't have expected mustard to pair so well with mussels, but it absolutely worked and added a surprising depth of flavor. There was also a chicken dumpling special that was comforting, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The service at the bar was fantastic. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful when offering advice on what to order, which made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. The food however is overpriced and just doesn't fit the bill. I was surprised to sit down and see a simple steak and potato dinner was $72. I ordered duck and my wife ordered pork belly. The food was alright but neither were meals that we'd want again. Two entrees, two apps, and a single glass of wine. ~$180 with tip. I don't mind spending $200 on dinner - but if I'm spending that much dinner should be stellar. This was just mediocre and I'm honestly surprised it has a 4.5 star rating average. To each their own I suppose.

This quaint gastropub doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, this seems like a place where locals are regulars and tourists are happy to get a table at this "no reservations" joint. It's dark inside (no photos) and a little cramped. The bartenders are serving double duty mixing and pouring drinks while also playing DJ and spinning vinyl records. And it felt like everyone inside was exactly where they wanted to be at the moment...enjoying each other's company and sharing drinks and food. The menu is about the size you would expect from a small kitchen - a fair number of appetizer dishes meant for sharing, and a handful of entrees, ranging from casual to a bit more refined. The grilled cheese and tomato soup ($19) was made with a hearty artisan bread that hit the spot on a chilly evening. Similarly, the coq au vin ($26) was classic comfort food, with perfectly cooked smashed fingerling potatoes surrounded by a rich, decadent reduction sauce smothering meaty mushrooms and soft pearl onions. Note, the coq au vin did take a long time to prepare, so not the dish to order if you're in a hurry. A couple of not-too-sweet lemon ricotta donuts (with chocolate sauce) was a great way to end the meal.

The maple cranberry was interesting. The sour cream chive one was to die for! The ricotta gnocchi was elegant and fluffy. The sauce made it over the top. The ribs were good, but I'm a Midwest girl. They just don't compare to back home. The clam linguine was seasoned perfectly. It was quite filling. We ended with the Apple Olive Oil cake with maple ice cream. The cake itself was quite dense and dry. The ice cream helped. I would not order this dessert again. Service was quite SLOWWWW, and for no reason as they weren't very busy while we were there. There were long gaps between courses and then once we were finished we kind of just sat there for a while. The food was worth it but something is not running efficiently and could be improved. If you get this salad and you want a nice kick ask for jalapeños ! BOMB! The Signature Burger was pretty good I will say I did ask them to add jalapeños to that order as well which gave it a awesome kick as well but I will say the bun was a little hard so each bite was a bit tough. That wasn't a horrible thing but it made the burger less appealing. None the less that doesn't defeat the FLAVOR because it was good ! The only thing I would've changed was the side.. the sweet potato fries although great normally turned out to be very soggy by the time I walked back to my hotel. Next time I would try a different side. They also forgot to add ketchup for my fries in my to go order although that's my fault for not asking before I left.
