I was a fan of the old Warren's Lobster House. We thought we'd give the new Warren's Seafood a try (same location, new owners). While the sign and the salad bar remain, the magic is gone. The baked stuffed lobster tails are no longer on the menu, nor are the claws or popcorn lobster. We tried the Lazy Lobster. Meh. A very small lobster, meat shelled, arrived floating in butter. Baked potato was still very firm. While the pumpkin bread is still part of the salad bar, the cheese spread is missed. It's the little things that matter. Service was mediocre. Warrens is in an amazing location near the Maine border on the river near NH. Nestled on a pier on the river Warrens has that old school fishing village vibe. They have all the fried fish favorites and of course lots of lobster. 1-1/2#-2# shelled or unshelled. I went big and got a 2# beast!Bib required and all needed tools . I've been hearing about Warren's for years but when the waiter said there were new owners I wondered if that was a good thing. Sadly it turned out we should have continued on to Portsmouth for lunch rather than stopping at Warren's. Very, very disappointing and s very very expensive disappointment. I got the $48 lobster roll and yes, there was a lot of lobster . The problem is the lobster had absolutely no flavor. I'm used to a slightly sweet flavorful lobster and tasted like nothing at all'. They changed extra for onion rings instead of French fries. For $48 you'd think they could throw in a few onion rings. My husband thought the lobster bisque was awful - he left most of it. No lobster flavor at all. It was served lukewarm. He had it reheated but still awful. The waiter took off half the price because it wasn't served hot but it was still inedible. My sister asked for a fried clam roll , which they made and she enjoyed. But considering they charged $35 for done clams on roll she should like it. Very poor quality good for very high prices. We choose this restaurant because they close at 9pm every other place in the area closes at 6pm on Sunday night. The waitress was very good Martha in spite of the place. Ambiance you ask? It's obvious that at some point in time this place was probably kickin. I found it to be tired and run down and outdated just my opinion. The food....meh. My New England clam chowder in a cup arrives 2/3 full and it's luke warm. I like it hot. Martha made it hot and she "topped it off" in her words. Still it was lousy. Inedible actually. Watery...not much clams and no bacon. I recommend that the chef takes the drive to Boothbay Harbor and go to Mine Oyster for the best clam chowder in Maine. We ordered 2 lobster rolls warmed up with butter...$48 each. Both dry. My son and his wife lamenting that they should have ordered cold ones somehow I doubt it would have mattered. My 2 lb lobster was a soft shell and watery I prefer the hard shell which is probably more expensive for the restaurant to buy. A half a piece of cold corn came with the lobster and a baked potato that I didn't order I asked for French fries. My blueberry pie was delicious but it was the size of half a slice and the vanilla ice cream was terrible also I'm thinking it's not ice-cream but ice milk. Low quality. The salad bar I avoided I took a look at it before leaving it's not properly maintained and it's extremely outdated. The one thing this place does right is charging high prices for mediocre food. We went there on a Saturday afternoon during this past Columbus Day weekend. I should've known better when the normally full parking lot was about a third full. We got a table for two quick enough, but my partner, who is always on the ball, noticed that the silverware was filthy. Not just eggwash dirty but food stuck on it though It was wrapped in a napkin. should've never have been put on the table. Our waitress promptly changed it without looking. We both ordered the lazy lobster, which in the past had been out of this world. Apparently, the new owners in my humble opinion had never talked to anyone about the old Warrens. The lobster arrived very tough and swimming in an orange liquid. It had no flavor, and you couldn't cut it with a butter knife. The salad bar is fair, but was missing a few items. read more

Warren's in Kittery is back open under new ownership and a new name, Warren's Seafood & More. They are in their soft opening phase with very limited menu and salad bar. The place inside is still old school with 3 dining rooms (and lounge) and the 60+ item salad bar in the main dining room. They were in their soft opening phase at the time of this posting. I stopped by on a quiet Tuesday afternoon since this was the day I was already in the area. I looked over the food menu which offers appetizers, chowder, lobster bisque, sandwiches, burgers, fried & baked seafood dishes, non-seafood meals, lobster dishes & rolls, and desserts. The prices are moderate and entrees include the salad bar, no soup yet. However, since it was midweek, the only food options were burgers, lobster roll, and salad bar. They just ran out of burgers when I got here, so you know where this is going. Anyways, I helped myself to the salad bar which had iceberg lettuce, spinach, veggies, peppers, pickles, stuffed pepperdews, pickles, bean salad, cold baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, hummus, taboule, cottage cheese, applesauce, strawberrie/blueberries, pineapple, dressings, garmishes, rolls, and pumpkin bread. The lobster roll had a good amount of claw & knuckle lobster meat on a toasted roll with a bag of Wachusett potato chips. I added some lettuce & pickles to the lobster roll from the salad bar. I had some homemade pumpkin bread (recommended) and fruit for dessert. The check was presented which was $34.55 with tax and before tip. I was glad to have a taste again of an old school institution with the only salad bar in the area. I did notice that the cutout plastic number card on my table was the Beach Plum lobster holding up 2 ice cream cones. I have been coming here seasonally since I was a kid over 50 years ago, glad to see it reopened. Very clean and service was good. The owner is a bit scattered and on the rude side, especially to seasonal customers. We were seated in the tiki room and the fan was so loud I good barely hear my guest. There were extension cords everywhere both a tripping hazard and fire Marshall violation. Cheap decorations all over but kept to the tiki theme. I was very disappointed that our entrees $39.00 came in a cheap black plastic basket you find at Dairy Queen and it was dirty. I would rather have sat inside but that was for 360 card holder, which I understand, but lady we the seasonal customers are your cash cow for the year! So take a look at your seasonal customers and appreciate us as we appreciate coming here year after year, we matter too. read more

We ordered over the phone for pick up. It was very busy (a good sign). The shrimp were large (shrimp cocktail), the lobster roll was delish (I warmed it up a bit), the onion rings were excellent, as were the fries. My mom enjoyed her clam chowder. We had no idea how large the salads were (I guess that is why they say "world famous salad bar). I'm still eating the leftovers. My sister liked the chicken burger. Overall, a valid Maine experience! The only bad thing was the #1 reason one goes to a restaurant, the entree. Service better than great! Salad bar still very good. I was in the mood for clams and only like full belly clams so asked "Are they full belly clams?" The waitress who can only tell what she's told affirmed they were. I ordered the seafood platter. First impression was it's not that big a portion. A small 4 inch square of haddock, about a 8 clams, scallops, shrimp each. Had the haddock been a bigger piece it would have been fine.....BUT. No amount of fish could make up for the HORRIBLE. Clams! They were not full belly and were tough like chewing rubber bands. The sad fact is they barely had any bellies at all. Better to say they are out of clams than to send those out of the kitchen. Somebody needs to tell the cook that if there's no sac hanging down from the neck they're not full belly clams. Now for the rest. The haddock had no flavor, the shrimp were just okay and the only acceptable fish were the scallops though they are the smallest ones I've had all summer. All in all Warren's is a disappointment I'll never experience again. read more

First, they couldn't decide who our server was going to be. They took our drink order 3 times before we got our drinks. The beers listed on their table menu was not what they had! Second, the food was awful except the boiled lobsters which how can that go wrong:) the fries were soggy and the fried seafood had obviously been kept warm and reheated. But it was cold anyways. The stuffed haddock was swamped in oil. Third, The salad bar which they charge for was nothing special just your normal salad stuff. We are locals who have frequented warren's over the years, but hadn't been back since it reopened under new ownership. We saw a wonderful segment about it on NH Chronicle last week, and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the hype. Upon entering the restaurant, it doesn't appear that much has actually been updated other than the flooring and people who work here. And we were surprised by how few diners were there on a Thursday evening... but now I get it, we will not be returning. The positives were: --the young hostess, who accommodated our request to sit in a waterside booth --our server was a very nice man --the salad bar was just as we remembered it (still has yummy house dill dressing and pumpkin bread!) Now, the constructive feedback: --everything took a LONG time --there were several dirty bowls in the spot where you grab a bowl to build your own salad; we had to wait in line while 2 employees went through the bin, pulling out dirty bowls --boiled lobster did not taste fresh/sweet --draft beer tasted off --terrible live music--felt like an SNL skit --filthy bathrooms --there's just something 'off' about the vibe here read more

We have been a customer of Warren's for many years. We thought we would try it one more time. It will be my last. The restaurant's ambience is unchanged and that is one of the good things. The majority of what made Warren's is no longer. They no longer have the cracker dip cheese, mustard pickle or marinated mushrooms on the salad bar. They don't even have that great smelling exfoliating soap in the bathroom. The bathroom definitely could have used something to "freshen the smell". It wasn't a busy Sunday but yet our waitress took over 15 minutes to acknowledge us. we asked for extra napkins for our steamers (something that should be automatic). We never got them, so I went and got some for our table. They charge extra if you get anything other than mediocre french fries on your meal. The fried fish was over cooked and certainly not fresh. We had to ask for the dips such as tartar sauce, etc rather than it come with the meal. Sadly, I will not return. The things that made Warren's special are no longer. read more

We went last weekend and won't be coming back for a long time. We don't they've been open only two weeks, but that's really not an excuse. Kinks should be marked out already . I Asked for a root beer we don't have that. On The salad bar half the stuff wasn't even on there and the stuff that was there was all mixed up with other things in it., there's no plain bread. The only bread is pumpkin if you eat that you're very good. If not, you don't get bread. I did have the chowder ate about four spoonfuls very watery no clams just potatoes. Warrens Lobster House. My wife and I decided to come to Warrens , since it was saved from being turned into Condos. We have not been , since the new ownership took over. We came for an early dinner / late lunch. The place was booming and busy. I am not a seafood eater and was very disappointed to no longer see the Meatloaf dinner on the menu. There were few choices for me to pick from. New York Sirloin for $40 , Chicken Parm , or a $20 cheeseburger. I sucked it up and ordered the burger. Nothing fancy , just a burger and fries for $20! McDonald's would have been tastier , honestly. And cheaper on the wallet. My wife ordered the baked haddock $30. What was served , was a third of a filet. For $30!!!! Dont worry , you get a boatload of undercooked broccoli to take up space on the plate. She said the haddock was cooked well , but she was disappointed with the portion size and undercooked vegetables. The waiters were heavily accented when they spoke , making it difficult to understand them. All in all , it was an overpriced let down. We will not return. Seems like New England is getting more and more ridiculous. Other "Famous" seafood restaurants have also gone awry and let the ship hit the rocks. I got The soup and salad bar was a little disappointing, I ordered that thinking I would be able to get some lobster bisque and then was told that I had to order lobster bisque separate from the kitchen. And then I got lobster meat. That was good. it was 7 ounces for I think like $36 if I remember correctly. A little bit better than if you did, the lobster roll in the price. Overall, it was good. I was just a little bit disappointed that I went that route thinking I was gonna save a little more money because Market price for the lobster roll was almost $50 and get my lobster bisque and that was not the case but the food was good. read more

Decided to return to try it out since it's been reopened and there's LOTS of room for improvement. First off, our waitress was an absolute sweetheart so that was the one big positive. We were also sat quickly. Salad bar no longer has chilled plates even though the chilled plate sign is still there, bring that back. It's a nice touch. Soup bar, minestrone was dull. Needing flavor. Also have little saucer plates to put under cup. Hard to carry a cup of soup by the cup without it making a mess or burning you. Onion rings needed to be hotter and crispier, little floppy and batter was slightly under done. Fried haddock filet was skinny and flimsy. Salmon was ok, little dry and skin was left on and slimy. Crisp that skin if you're leaving it on! Mixed veg was a flop with mushy, mealy tomato chunks in the mix that didn't make sense and rice pilaf was super watery and flavorless. Pumpkin bread was still yummy, tabouli needs bulgar in it, not just loads of parsley and bring back baked potatoes. read more

While we were enjoying a packed seafood platter, I observed and heard an exchange that a customer had with the server, Cathy. The customer was seated with five or six other people. When he was ordering, he was incredibly demanding, trying to create a custom made seafood plate with all of his preferred items. He was pushy, relentless and almost hostile to Cathy. Throughout the exchange Cathy handled it with total grace. She remained calm, kept a kind smile and was completely professional. Managers need to know what a great worker she is. First time back to Warren's since reopening. Was a 3 to 4 time a year customer before the original owners closed. For the most part it's the same place as it was before closing. Similar quality, similar amount of food, the seacoasts largest salad bar is the same-thankfully. The place is famous for Kitsch. Don't go there and expect Michelin rated dining . It's just a kind of a fun place to go. Check out the salad bar be casual, and enjoy some time. The waitstaff appears quite young, as if on summer break. I didn't see seasoned older waitstaff but I was there around noontime. The dish I ordered was baked haddock with root vegetables and baked potato. Fish had a fresh aroma, veg was a bit overcooked but seasoned well and a baked potato. Haddock was $30 and with the huge salad bar plate I left quite full, I'm 6' and 205 . Happy to see the iconic Seacoast restaurant back in full swing. read more

I haven't been here in several years. First will say the interior has not changed one bit. It's definitely in a time warp! (And not in a good way) It's dated, dark and downright unattractive! The clientele was definitely older so maybe they don't need to keep up with the times if that's their demographic. Upon entering there were very few diners. Yet the staff had a very hard time deciding exactly where to seat us. As we walked through to a small table in the center, the hostess said "there are no water view tables open right now" as we walked past FOUR water view tables that were open and remained so through most of our dinner. Ok menu..."seafood and more" is in the restaurant name yet with the exception of a chicken sandwich, burger and I think chicken parm (?weird) there was pretty much only seafood. Prices? The salad bar alone is $25! But my date's meal, fish and chips was $25 and included the salad bar (again- ??) Let's talk about the salad bar. It was low on many items. There were slippery veggies on the floor around it. Not super clean. Service: I ordered baked scallops for $32. The menu said it came with the salad bar, rice or potato AND seasonal veg. I was given a choice of potato or veg- not both. Fine, I didn't feel like a fight so I chose the veg. After we ordered we helped ourselves to the salad bar, ate our salad and then proceeded to wait another 30+ minutes for our meals. During this time our server, Bailee, stopped once to apologize as she ran by then once again to say our meal was up next. We saw her bring food to several tables after that and waited another 15 minutes before ours came out. Food: scallops were hot but had too much mushy crackers on top for my liking. There were 6 scallops that were about the size of a nickel and a few small "chunks" (not whole). They were cooked well so can't complain about that. The vegetables? Lol burned, very scant and floating in a pool of oil (see picture). My date's meal was fried fish (overcooked) and onion rings (cold). We couldn't complain if we wanted to because Bailee was MIA. When she finally showed up to clear the table and leave the bill we had been done and sitting there for at least 20-30 minutes. She apologized again and said she was waiting for food in the kitchen so she was clearly aware of the problems! I've never wanted to leave $0 tip so bad! We did leave a tip but it was not deserved. The problem may have been beyond her control, I am not sure but she didn't handle it well. read more
