Lobster Roll

Was visiting Nubble Lighthouse and needed a little snack- so we went to the walk up and order window from Fox. Got the Lobster roll and it was really good- butter and warmed. Overall it was good !

Fox's Lobster House is a seasonal lobster shack, seafood restaurant and ice cream parlor that opened in York, Maine in 1966. It was founded by the Fox Family, which included Bob Sr., Tilly, and their son Bob Jr. The land located next to Nubble Lighthouse has been home to a restaurant since 1936. At that time, a small, rustic lobster pound with an inside dining room that seated 40 people was built by Frank and Annie Coupe. It was originally known as "Coupe's Lobster Pound." By 1950, the restaurant had been purchased by Edward and Dorothy Brown who renamed it "Brown's Lobster Pound". More owners would come and go before the Fox family purchased the restaurant. The Foxes made a number of additions and renovations to the property over the years. Bob Jr. later married a waitress at the restaurant named Phyllis. The couple eventually bought the restaurant from Bill Sr. and Tilly. After Bob Jr. and Phyllis divorced in 1986, Phyllis took ownership of the business by herself. Today, Fox's Lobster House is well-known for their delicious lobster rolls, seafood dishes, homemade Maine blueberry pie, and ice cream. The restaurant operates from late April through mid October. My family and I recently visited Fox's Lobster House this summer while we were spending the week in York. After taking some pictures of the beautiful Nubble Lighthouse, we headed over to the restaurant to grab some dinner. We sat at a table outside on the patio. My wife and I both had our own "Fox's Favorite Lobster Roll" (fresh lobster tail and claw meat gently tossed with mayonnaise, served in a toasted New England style sandwich roll) while our sons shared a "Basket of Baby Shrimp, Chicken Tenders & Chips". Everyone was very happy with their meal choices. We were also planning to order some ice cream for dessert, but a bird that landed on a nearby power line caused a blackout to the whole Nubble Lighthouse area. Fox's had no choice but to close down without electricity. Either way, we really enjoyed the excellent seafood at Fox's and we highly recommend them to visitors to York!

Fox's Lobster House 9-6-25 We had to stop by this Lobster House for the Lobster. The lady that greeted us at the front was very friendly and answered any questions we had about this place as it was our first time there. She stated you want to sit upstairs as the views were much better. The views from upstairs were spectacular with the ocean and Lighthouse in the background just amazing. They do have an outside patio for dining which is rather large with shading for all to enjoy that kind of atmosphere. Now let's get to the food. I ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder, and my wife ordered a cup of Lobster Bisque for appitizers. We both ordered the Fox's Favorite Lighthouse Our Dinner which had 1.5-pound Lobster, Corn on the Cob with Baked Potato. Our soup came out first, it was hot and very tasty, mine was packed with clams. This had to be the best New England Clam Chowder I ever had. In fact, it was so good I did not want to share it with my lovely wife. She stated her Lobster Bisque was fantastic also. The Corn on the Cob and Baked Potato was also good, but the star of the dinner was the Soup and Lobster. Everything was hot, tasty and with the great service provided by Stella we just loved this place, and my bet is you will also. You must stop by here not only for a great dinner but the spectacular views and a visit to the Lighthouse right next door. If I could give this place 6 stars I would but I will give it 5 stars and a +. + Follow Me For More Reviews & Fun. Gulf Coast Terry

Decided to try Fox's Lobster House before viewing the Nubble Lighthouse. Very cute restaurant with outdoor dining, but we opted for a window seat inside. Amazing view of the oceanfront. Our meals were delicious. I chose the crab cakes with their homemade onion rings and my husband had fish and chips. The onion rings were some of the best I've ever had. Our server Jenna was very attentive and took great care of us. Highly recommend giving them a try.

Lobster roll and lightly fried clam strips were outstanding. Highly recommend but this is on the expensive side. View is unbelievable! Check it out, but don't cheap out!

Spectacular lunch with free parking so I didn't drive around like an idiot waiting for light house parking. Good lobster and hot dogs

We stopped into Fox's while visiting Nubble Lighthouse and were delighted with what we found! Would recommend to anybody who takes the time to enjoy Nubble Lighthouse!

Visited this restaurant on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Drove from Connecticut to visit York Beach in Maine and decided to stop to eat at this restaurant. Location: Great location with water views, near the Nubble Lighthouse. Due to the location, prices are high, which is to be expected. We were able to be seated in a table with views to the ocean, which was a very nice touch. We saw tour boats as well as fishing boats. We also saw parents playing with their kids on large rocks, and some people were even fishing from the rocks. Food: I shared a plate with my partner. We shared a half and half golden plate dinner of scallops and Haddock. It came with French fries and Corn on the cob because we wanted to save room for the Blueberry Pie. With a price of $39.95, we thought we would get a good portion. But that was not the case. Small portions for the price and definitely not sharable. We found the scallops and haddock very tasty indeed, and the fries were fine. However, as mentioned, we found the portions too small to share. I eat out quite a bit for reviews and because I like good food. My partner and I share an entree and dessert and in some cases an appetizer and it works great for us. But not in this case. The blueberry pie with ice cream, well, all I can say I was a bit disappointed. The crust was not to my liking. I found it tasteless. The blueberries and whipped cream were fine. It seems that many people come to this restaurant just for the blueberry pie, as the hostess asked us if we were having dinner or just having blueberry pie. I was looking forward to eating fresh blueberry pie from Maine. But this restaurant did not meet my expectations in the dessert dept. during this visit. I did not try the lobster, but they ranged in price from $35.95 to $73.90, if you want a stuffed lobster. Service: Both the hostess and the server were nice, friendly and accommodating. Plenty of free parking, close to the Nubble Lighthouse. Seating in the main level with many tables with ocean views. Additional seating in front of the restaurant under the tent, and on the second floor. There is a bar as well. I was surprised that they only had one (1) women's bathroom with the number of tables that they have and the number of people that can be seated. Would I visit this place again? Maybe, as the food was tasty, although the portions were small and the price was high for what we had. We ended up paying almost $70 (including tip) for 1 shared entree (not lobster) and 1 piece of blueberry pie with ice cream. No drinks just water and lemon. A bit pricey for my taste. But if you like the view, and everything else that I mentioned that was good, then this restaurant may work for you. Buen provecho - bon Appetit! Final Rating 3.5* Until next time, Miriam #travelingtheworldwithmiriam https://travelingtheworldwithmiriam.cruisebrothers.com/cb/

Great view of the ocean and Nubble Light! Had a fantastic bloody Marty for starters, then a cup of clam chowder and the Lobster Dinner with corn on the cob, fries, shrimp cocktail. Don't skip the dessert either had some of the best apple cobbler I have ever had. Soooo good. One of my favorite lobster houses to go to when visiting the East Coast!! Service was also very friendly. Great spot, highly recommend.

Decent wine and more than decent view!

Great menu at a beautiful location! Typical seafood pricing for the area. Parking can be challenging. Our service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Fox's Golden Fried Seafood Lover's Platter

Located next to the Nubble Lighthouse, you'll get really beautiful views, even inside with large windows. This place can get busy and we were lucky to stop by before the rush. There's parking next to the restaurant or across the street on Nubble Road. Due to the location, the prices are on the high end, but that's to be expected. The Seafood Lover's Platter had a good amount of food. It came with one fried haddock, plenty of small shrimp, and a decent amount of whole belly clams and scallops. I was pretty satisfied with this, one of my favorite summer meals.

Onions rings perfectly tasteful scallops well they were ok but for $31 it was a small portion definitely can get better tasting more for your money at other places. Cute little place around the lighthouse

Clam Chowder

I have lost count of the trips I have made to Fox's. Drove up this time from Boston just for the Clam Chowder and Lobstee Linguini. Don't forget deserts. Right on the water with a view and the bartenders took great care of me.

We were here on Monday 7.8.24 on a hot summer day but the air in Inn on the Blues was KICKING so much so I had to run and get sweatshirts (from the multitude of gift shops) for the little ones. Fisherman Basket with fried scallops, cod, shrimp and clams (YES with the bellies pfft I'm a New Englander after all) lightly breaded and so fresh. You'll need to ask for cocktail sauce if you would like to dip your shrimp in some. Little Bit had the philly cheese steak, I think it was good and my Son-in-law had the Atomic burger which he cleaned the plate so that is always a good sign, those onion rings were the bomb-diggity too! The grandkids devoured there food as well Kai especially liked the Pasta with plain butter and Khaleesi kept talking about the brioche bun for her burger A+A+A+. Those Crab Cakes with the Aioli is an ABSOLUTE must! Crust was crunchy and the meat inside was delicate and sweet just the right seasoning. LOVED this dish the most. View is awesome the music was upbeat and there was plenty of room for groups of 8-10 people. Full bar and we ordered shots to begin... because WHY NOT? it was our last full day of vacation! Located right on the main street and parking is across the street (if you are lucky to find it during the summer rush) I believe there is also parking around back towards the Zoo. Cheap it was not however, I wouldn't hesitate to visit again just for those crab cakes. Respectfully Reviewed.

First things first - parking is super easy, it's a free valet service (not obvious at first, as there is parking behind the restaurant, but you're greeted right away when you pull in). We walked through the bar area, over to the restaurant area (surprisingly the bar was quite full), and were able to choose a table by one of the two fireplaces. On the restaurant side, it feels very cozy, and homey, exactly where you want to spend a cold night, inside eating dinner. Our server was lovely, greeted us right away and provided menus. I started with a cosmo (they had flavored versions like strawberry, but I elected to go for the classic). For an appetizer, we started with the bacon wrapped scallops - the bacon was maple glazed, and wonderfully crispy, with the scallops cooked perfectly, and some micro-greens scattered on the plate - delicious. For entrees, my mom had the baked seafood stuffed haddock which came with a lobster sherry cream sauce, a massive pile of perfectly cooked green beans, and mashed potatoes (yum). I went with the duck special, which was absolutely delightful. It came with Brussels sprouts, and I subbed out the au gratin (I very strongly dislike sweet potatoes), for mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We were so full, we opted for dessert to go (chocolate cake), which was generously portioned, and decadently delicious. We really enjoyed the meal - this was a wonderful dinner to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday!

At the time of this posting, their website was still under construction and they will be offering DoorDash delivery. There are picnic tables in front of the trailer. After an appointment nearby, I stopped by the Trapped in York Maine food trailer. I decided to order a Small Trapped Meal ($24 plus tax) with a Small Lobster Roll, bag of Cape Cod Sea Salt Chips, watermelon cubes, 2 homemade Maine spice cookies, and a fresh lemonade. My order was prepared to order in about 8 minutes. I enjoyed my food outside. The Lobster Roll (3 oz of knuckle & claw meat in mayo) on a toasted New England hot dog roll. The watermelon and chips were good sides for the Maine style lobster roll. The 2 homemade sweet Maine spice cookies were soft and chewy. The iced lemonade was refreshing, as I enjoyed the rest in the ride after finishing my meal.

It was DELICIOUS - more tail than claw- which made me extra happy!! The service was outstanding, I believe the owner was there- but the young lady was also quite sweet. They answered all my questions, both on the phone, and in person. I also ordered the haddock and fries for tomorrow- but of course I tried it. So tender and flaky!! Their fries are hand cut, and have both sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. So good! Lunch is going to be great tomorrow! The place is a yellow food truck, so seating is casual at picnic tables.
