It even says on the bottom of the menu "no substitutes. Our chefs make the menu for a specific purpose." Or something like that. But if that's the case, then I'd like to think the food would be good! Maybe our chef was out or something because it was bland and cooked improperly. First of all, it took forty five minutes just to get appetizers. And then our waitress took another 30 to take our food order. And then it took another hour for our food. We were there for three hours. Which is fine, but we were starving!!! The drinks were delicious but one was a bottle of wine, so that seems like the bare minimum. Beside service being slow (our waitress nice but very busy), let's get into the food which was the most disappointing thing... the flatbread was dry. The Brussel sprouts were good but the lardons were hard as a rock (clearly they cook things too long here). The salmon was good but portions seemed small. The soup was fine. The steak was supposed to come medium rare, but as you can see, it was closer to medium well (for $48 that is upsetting and embarrassing they couldn't cook a steak properly). My aunt got the chicken dish and she said it was the blandest thing she's ever had. But the biggest issue was the burger... It was my dad's birthday. So it was extremely frustrating when the burger, the thing he ordered, came out black. And there is a picture of it if you want to take a look. BLACK. Why bring it out? That is so bad on the restaurant! Our waitress immediately came over and said "we are making a new bun right now." So why bring it out? And the fries were cold. Same with my mom's haddock (everything was cold). He also asked for the burger to be medium rare and it was quite literally gray. I think when you go to a nice restaurant, you expect good food. And it was disrespectful to my father on his birthday. Thank goodness they took it off our bill (for that we are grateful), but clearly the kitchen needs some assistance because it ruins the experience when everyone is waiting to eat because one dish is done wrong. And clearly done wrong. It's expensive to go out nowadays. I'm not spending money on food that is mediocre at best. This was frustrating. Thank goodness for the nice view otherwise I feel like this restaurant wouldn't exist. sadly we won't be coming back and waiting weeks for this dinner was not worth it. Don't waste your money here. Or go for cocktails. That was at least good.

The same food and drink is served there, but you'll need to communicate that with the host at the restaurant (there was some pushback from the rooftop bar staff when we came about them not being able to seat us because the host needed to make that decision and then tell them; whereas the host at the restaurant told us to just go on over). + The drink I had was good: I got a blackberry sour that was refreshing. If we had had more time, I would have also tried the painkillah' with a rum floater. And, honestly, the mocktails sounded great too! Also, their glassware is lovvvveeellly, make sure you pay attention to that! + They've got vegan options: While we didn't order food, I would have loved to have tried the vegan "crabby" cakes with cilantro aioli! -/+ The views are not unbroken: while you'll be able to take in panoramic views of the ocean, they're disrupted by an abundance of black power lines (this is not true if you're sitting in the restaurant, but you will have loads of people lingering on the sidewalk next to you waiting to be seated). Do you know how to parallel park? You might need to park down the road a bit and walk but you can't go wrong with a walk on the beach before or after your meal.

After looking through reviews I found this place and decided to give it a try -- a decision that I wish I could take back. I went at night and there was a live band playing so the place was packed and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was immediately met with a ton of "why are you here" stares, from the crowd and staff. The young men (both of color) behind the order counter were the only ones who were a little friendly. I ordered a lobster roll, it came out pretty quickly and I made my way to find a table in a small open area with a TV playing a football game I wanted to watch. If I'm being honest the brioche bun tasted better than the lobster itself. As I was sitting down, a bartender threw a cardboard box and it hit me on the head. I guess he was attempting to throw it in the corner behind me but when it hit me and didn't apologize and basically told me that I was in the way. Why he would throw anything in the direction of customers is beyond me. Although I highly doubt he would have done so if I "looked like" the rest of the crowd. As a Black woman I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. I immediately got up and practically ran out of there while I had the chance to. Needless to say I'd never return again and I'm sure they're okay with that.

She ordered the Chicken Tinga tacos, and I had the Prosciutto & Fig pizza with fig and mascarpone spread, prosciutto, gorgonzola, arugula and balsamic glaze. Both were fantastic. Both were phenomenal with my wife finding a new favorite with the Lavender Haze. After trying those we decided on splitting a chicken pesto pizza. It came out cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of char & crisp. The crust was soft and pillowy enough so that my wife who typical skips out on eating the crust but she enjoyed all of her crust. Just as our apps were being brought out, a gust of wind lifted the umbrella clear out of the table, spilling my wife's drink and sending the heavy metal umbrella pole directly into my face and chest HARD. My wife, the server, and I were all stunned for a moment. Wife thought I was bleeding until we realized it was rust on my face and chest from the pole. Server asked if I was okay, clearly feeling a little awkward, and with my hand to my face I said "I think so? If I'm not bleeding, I guess?, still totally stunned and feeling some pain. Face throbbing, my wife asked for an ice pack, and the server brought us one. We totally understand that it was a freak accident, and that it wasn't our server's fault. But it got awkward from there as the crew working became avoidant. The girl that sat us saw me teary eyed from the pain, holding the ice pack to my face and asked if we were okay... but that was it. The atmosphere quickly became awkward, and considering the pain I was in combined with feeling totally weird from the staff, we asked for a box to take our uneaten food to go. Server brought our check and we were a little surprised to see that we were still charged for the drinks (one of which had spilled because of the umbrella) and the food. We paid cash, still left a nice tip, and left, wanting to get out of the sun and keep an eye on the swelling. We were really disappointed in how the situation was handled by the crew. We weren't looking for our apps to be comped, but it would have been nice for a manager to come by, apologize, offer to refill my wife's beer, and maybe move us to a different table since we were no longer in the shade. The team didn't go around and check the other tables to make sure the umbrellas were safe and secure, either, which was shocking considering what had just happened. We were really looking forward to hanging out, trying a little bit of everything off the menu, buying some cans or growlers to take home... but we left with a swollen, bruised face and chest and an uneaten $90 box of food that we ended up tossing because the mood was completely ruined. We rarely leave a negative review anywhere, but I guess this is just a PSA to check your picnic table umbrella if you sit outside, and hopefully a learning opportunity for management in how to improve customer service and safety for patrons.
