My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. We lucked out because this ended up being one of the best meals we've had in a long time and the best vibes from the atmosphere to the manager and the staff. I had the scallops with lobster spinach risotto which was amazing. The sea scallops were cooked perfectly as was the risotto. It was one of those meals where you eat slowly becasue you don't want it to end. My wife had the mixed grilled seafood seafood which was delicious. The manager was very personable and was busy setting up the outdoor patio heaters. Our waiter kept the fire in the fire pit going. We ate outside and took a look inside and the quirky charm of this place continued there too. I don't leave a lot of 5 star ratings but this place earned it. Have always wanted to stop in here, and finally had the chance. Loved the rustic, beautiful atmosphere with grassy lawn, Adirondack chairs and scattered tables. Very kid and dog friendly. Plus super cool bar with fun decor. Just 5 cocktails on their list, but all unique. I had the Backbar Sidecar w/ Makers Mark whiskey, fresh lemon and housemade blackberry puree; wow! Will have to try this at home. Then we had an order of the Fried Clams, which were so tender and juicy with light crispy batter, and steamed mussels Provençal with white wine, garlic, fresh herbs, lemon and tomato - really delicious.. Salads and entrees looked great, too. We came back two days later with a group of friends and had drinks on the lawn in the Adirondack chairs, which was really wonderful. We were thrifting and I asked a couple of local women at St David's Thrift Store where to eat. One suggested the revered Maine Diner. The other said to try Bitter End if the diner was busy. Having been there before and always looking for something new, we tried Bitter End. In a word, excellent! My husband had fattoush which came with two falafel. They were light and hot and the best I'd ever tasted. He also had clam chowder and enjoyed it. It was fairly thick and chuck full of clams. I ordered seafood stew. It was phenomenal! A bit spicy, it had a wonderfully spiced base with some tomatoes. It came with a toast with red pepper aïoli which was so creamy, I thought it had cream cheese in it! We started our meal with onion straws with a smoked ketchup. What a nice touch that was. The meal ended with a shared creme brûlée--a great end to a perfect meal. Service? She was bubbly, friendly, and good. Ambiance? Eclectic mix of sports memorabilia mixed with large hanging crystal chandeliers and disco balls! Oh there's also so strange political stuff like business cards from Trump, Castro, Eva Braun, Pinochet, and others! In nicer weather, there is a large outdoor eating area and bar. Try Bitter End. Great service, awesome seared sesame tuna, fattoush salad with prawns, after pita, hummus and falafel. My husband had the 9 hour bolognese and the blueberry crumble. The outside dining was excellent with so many eclectic things to look at and marvel at, too. Like the antique motors atop the fence and the baseball bat bench, to pique your interest. I'll give them this -- the setting and atmosphere was great. Nice spot to sit and hang out. But the food and drinks don't live up to it. Overpriced and extremely small portions. My salad lettuce was brown and the chicken on top was a joke. The drink portions were small too. My husband and I had the most delicious food at this restaurant. We sat at the bar on a Monday rainy night. I had chicken chili soup, a side of Brussels sprouts shared with my husband, because they looked so good. Although I was full, I still ordered the pan seared scallops with lobster& spinach risotto. My husband had a cup of delicious chowder along with a lobster roll. We both split the blueberry pastry for dessert and it was so good! The strawberry drink was excellent as well as the Baxter draft beer! I can't say enough about these recipes that the chef made, we are still talking about the food, days later! Had a late lunch here with my friend this past weekend. The place was fairly full, but we were able to get 2 seats at the bar. The bartenders/servers were super nice and attentive - I think we had Olivia and Alastair. I love a good chicken pot pie, and the Bitter End's did not disappoint. I got a heads up that the topping was puff pastry instead of a standard pie crust, but I preferred it that way. The filling was hearty and delicious without being too thick or overwhelming. It had the perfect amount of puff pastry, which was fluffy and fresh. My friend got the bolognese, which she loved. My only regret was not having enough room for the brussel sprouts - they looked and smelled amazing. Next time! read more

The indoors is small, but when it's nice out the outdoor bar is open so you can grab a drink while you wait for a table inside. If you're open to sitting outside, there's sooo much open space and variety of seating. The food is amazing (get the onion strings), the service is great, and the location is truly like an oasis. 20/10 recommend read more

One thing that really stands out at The Bitter End is the ambiance: there's always a band playing, ample outdoor seating, and lively conversation happening. As for the food and drinks, we were not disappointed! I had never had roasted cod in a red sauce before, but it was a delicious combo. The other entrees we ordered were the burger, fish and chips, and a pulled pork sandwich, which everyone enjoyed. I'd definitely recommend trying the truffle parm fries too! Back in Maine for the summer and this was it first stop. Loved sitting outside and dining (something that cannot be done in Phoenix this time of year). The watermelon & jalapeño gazpacho special was perfect for a warm day. Savory, sweet, with some small backend spice. I don't normally complain about restaurants I go to. Sometimes you just hit it on an off day. I do not have a large appetite. I normally "doggie bag" half of my food for the next day. I wanted a lighter meal. I ordered the spinach salad. The menu boasted goat cheese, candied pecans and beets. I wasn't going to add a protein, but thank God I did!! The salad was literally one cup of spinach with maybe an ounce of goat cheese. The candied pecans were chopped. At most there were a few tablespoons. It included a half cup of beets. The prawns I had added were three tiny shrimp on a skewer. (Prawns are supposed to be much larger than shrimp!!). I left still hungry and very disappointed. My husband was also very disappointed in his meal as his burger was way under done. Also it was very pricey for what it was - even for a touristy area. The only pleasant part of our experience was we loved the quirky decorations. Also our server was very nice and attentive. But needless to say due to our meal, we will not be back. read more

I got a strawberry martini like drink and it was good. The app that was recommended to us was not that great. It was some type of taquito. I got the lobster roll which was tasty. My mom and mother in law got the shrimp and zucchini pasta dish. It was overpriced and and small. My husband also wasn't a fan of his dish. The blueberry crumble was not what we expected either. The parking lot had a lot of Maine plates so figured it would be a good place to get a meal since it was patronized by locals. I was wrong, it was quick to be seated, but that was the only good thing. The chowders came before our drinks and were not creamy or flavorful. The nachos were greasy and loaded with a rubbery cheese. The grease saturated the chips and pooled at the bottom of the cast iron skillet. They used canned jalapeño's. The drink which I get all the time had an off taste, the server brought over a new one that tasted the same. Another customer sitting near us said the same about hers, I just gave up and got a coke. I went to Bitter End tonight with my grandma and had a really great time. We sat in the indoor porch area that has a rustic design. I had the fish and chips which were crispy and delicious, and we topped the night off with their blueberry crumble that's packed with blueberries. Over the last few years, I have heard great things about Bitter End from a variety of friends. Looking for a new spot that we haven't tried before, my partner and I decided to give Bitter End a shot and see what it was all about. For starters, the venue and small and quirky, with memorabilia hanging up on the walls. There is one dining room with a bar and tables, and then there is a hallway where you walk in that also has some tables. I wasn't expecting it to be these small, but it has a quirky, laid back vibe. Given that it was early Spring, their outdoor space was not open, but taking a peek, I can see that it would be a fun outdoor venue to visit. My partner and I met up with a friend and we were quickly seated at our table, which was in the hallway section. We were promptly greeted by our server and she gave us the specials for the night. We ordered our drinks, and I decided on the skinny spicy margarita that they had on their cocktail list. The cocktail was...okay. It ended up being pretty sweet and not very spicy. For dinner, I opted for one of the specials: the mahi mahi tacos. At the table, other people got the carne asada bowl, a burger, and the onion straws to share. The onion straws were nothing extraordinary. The burger was okay, according to my friend, and the carne asada bowl was great with nice flavor. My tacos were dripping in wetness due to the pineapple salsa that was on it, to the point that the corn tortilla was saturated, which I was pretty disappointed about. Other items on their menu tend to be Mediterranean-inspired. Is the food anything to ride home about? I didn't think so. Am I rushing to go back? Not really. I will say, one of the positives was the service which was prompt and friendly, however, I don't think that is enough to get me to go back anytime soon. read more
