I bought a moustache cake for my son's 1st birthday and I just have to say that I'm very disappointed that they spelled his name wrong and even after Tyler tried to fix it I was not satisfied. The letter he added was a completely different shade of green. My guests were already at the party as Tyler was trying to fix it. The cake tasted a little dry as well. I guess all the time I spent talking with Brian didn't matter because he screwed up my sons name and I don't know where he got the idea that my sons birthday would start at 9 pm. A 1st year old birthday doesn't begin so late at night. When they did try to fix it, the letter was a darker shade of green and the letter was too big! I don't want a discount on a future order. I want to get a discount on the original cake for the mistake that one of the employees clearly made by not rechecking information like he's supposed to. I find a bit unprofessional that Tyler was blaming Brian for not double checking the cake. I paid too much! This cake should of been perfect! read more

Oakleaf Cakes - Very dissapointed. It's so obvious that they messed up on my sons name. - Bakeries Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Yes, it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Ordered cupcakes and banana-chocolate bread for Christmas this year, and it was gone within hours. The cupcakes have the perfect amount of frosting to compliment the cake, also nice presentation. The bread was my favorite, really recommend it! Both are not too sweet, it's just right, which is hard to come across since many bakeries pile an excess amount of sugar. read more

SALTED CARAMEL HOMEMADE POPTARTS. Need I say more? This little coffee shop/bakery is worth a stop just to see the amazing cakes they create - but their coffee and pastries don't disappoint! Iced coffee was delicious and after we spent quite a while looking at all the delicious baked goods in the display case, we chose the chocolate chip banana bread and salted caramel popover. Both disappeared very quickly and left us pondering returning for more. The banana bread was sweet but not overpowering and not dry at all. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Boston - this cute little shop was a perfect place to start my weekend! read more

All of their baked goods are great, but their poptarts are simply amazing! I stop in every week to get one, and I've never been disappointed! read more

Gorgeous cake, helpful staff, wonderful flavor. Decoration was detailed and beautiful. Check out Oakleaf's moisture / sweetness chart on their website to pick the right balance. They offered great guidance on cake / icing combinations and overall were super helpful. Guests at the event -- including some extremely skilled bakers -- kept talking about how unusually good the cake was. Someone is putting their heart and soul into making these cakes. Would definitely order again. read more

This place is amazing! The cakes are so unique and delicious. The pop tarts are to die for and the pressed Chai the best in tow. It is my go to place for tea, coffee and sweets. The staff is also friendly and very helpful. read more

I was looking for a very professional bakery to create a cake for a special occasion so that the quality and very high end decoration go hand by hand. And I am now a true fan of these lovely team! Very highly recommend. Sara herself delivered me the cake next day after the blizzard. read more

Oakleaf Cakes - It was a hit! - Bakeries Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Just as follow up, to my complaint that cake was dry-- bakery contacted me and said that if we had their cake at anything but room temp, then the cold butter in the cake would make it dry tasting. I actually don't know how long it sat out before we had it, nor do I know if those instructions about serving at room temp were given to my bf. so here is to the benefit of the doubt, I will assume that we didn't wait long enough, and I have learned a valuable tip to pass along! I leave 3 stars because I'm not sure, and this frankly was the first time ever in my cake eating life that this "room temp" situation has come up. I do know their cupcakes purchased in store and eaten immediately were to die for. read more

Oakleaf made a gorgeous and totally delicious cake for our wedding. We showed the team a photo of a unicorn cake we had admired online, and the end result was perfect. The cake was vanilla on vanilla, and was so tasty. The outside was covered in ornate detail and the inside was a beautiful pink ombre - totally fun, and totally a work of art. We will definitely order from Oakleaf again. View it here: https://twitter.com/hodges/status/871922117016784896 read more

Very cute place, love the guitar. Interesting and different fare. Best hot chocolate in the city, with the great huge marshmallow. The brownie trifle is fantastic, as is the molasses cookie. Blueberry cheesecake wasn't so great, but not terrible. I like this place a lot and definitely excels in the role it seeks. Worth a visit. read more

The first time I went to Oakleaf, I walked out without buying anything. Why? Because none of the employees acknowledged me, not even to say, "be right with you." Usually that sort of treatment is a deal breaker for me, but I gave them another chance a few months later. I'm glad I did. Oakleaf makes my favorite espresso drink, ever. I'm obsessed with the Charles River. I've tried to order similar drinks from other cafes, but they didn't get close to Oakleafs. When I indulge and buy a baked good, I'm equally as pleased! The only think holding Oakleaf back from 5 stars is their lack of consistency with customer service. A greeting and a smile every time is all it takes! read more

This place is a great bakery right off of Whole Foods, I got the mocha chip chocolate cupcake and it was the best cupcake I have ever had, the buttercream is rich and smooth and the cake is perfectly cooked, my boyfriend got the chocolate chip cookie and it was ok nothing too special about it, I'd recommend going there and checking out the place atleast for the cupcakes if nothing else read more

I stopped by to pick up some breakfast. The place is pretty, the staff are friendly, the stuff that I got (Aztec hot chocolate and a pop tart) was not expensive so yeah I will probably go back. I got an Aztec hot chocolate and it was good, could have been a little hotter but whatever. Now if they would start selling some kind of sandwich with bacon I would probably add Oakleaf Cakes to my breakfast rotation. read more

The best cup of coffee I have had. Have not tried any of their confections, however the good people at oak leaf wowed me tonight with their java! As a self proclaimed coffee snob, I was floored by the staffs expert skill at pulling a (literally perfect) shot of espresso and making it into the best latte I have ever had. And the prices for coffee were much more reasonable than those of another, larger coffee corporation located down the street. read more

Best cherry almond shortbread cookies ever!!!! I'm a chocoholic, and rarely get anything that doesn't have my favorite ingredient, but this cookie blew me away! Unfortunately they only make this amazing cookie once in a great while, so I am forced to order them a dozen at a time, but, as long as I exercise self-control, I can deal with that ;-). read more

Oakleaf recently made an incredible custom cake for us. A stack of pancakes with maple syrup dripping down the sides and cubes of butter and a strawberry on top. Absolute show-stopper! It was for a surprise 60th birthday, and everyone was surprised and in awe of the cake. Would highly recommend Oakleaf, especially for a special event! read more

I ordered a 5-inch gourmet cake for my girlfriend's birthday, and Oakleaf did not disappoint! They made a delicious chocolate cake with light orange buttercream, and the design and taste were exceptional. I've had Oakleaf before, but this was my first experience ordering from them. They were very patient as I took 30 minutes to decide on the flavors for the cake, and I appreciate that they suggest you keep the cake out at room temperature for 3 hours before eating to ensure you get the best bite. Oakleaf is worth your time, and they're reasonably priced! They're also great for small desserts and pastries too. read more

I had a cake made for my twin girls graduation and we had figurines made of the girls sitting on the cake with their white graduation dresses and flower crowns on. It was amazing to see the detail in this cake. Even down to the embroidery on one of the dresses. Their rings and necklaces and even their nail polish. It was the highlight of the party and a huge talking point. The cookies and cupcakes that we had accompanying the cake were delicious. I was worried that it would be all aesthetics and maybe the cakes and cookies wouldn't be as good as they looked. They were. Fabulous and, although costly, it was really worth it. read more

I used Oakleaf Cakes to design and bake my wedding cake for a September 2019 wedding. From our first tasting to the final product, they were extremely professional and listened to all of our needs and desires. They designed a custom cake to match our wedding theme and coordinated with our florist to create a gorgeous final product. And in addition to being beautiful, it was delicious. We had a 4-tier cake and were able to have multiple flavors. We chose red velvet, yellow cake, and chocolate cake (with nutella butter cream). Each flavor was unique and decadent. We saved the top tier to freeze and have on our first anniversary, but it was so good, we consumed it on our wedding night with our entire wedding party. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

Oakleaf's cheesecake: 1. Ordering First, their website says to call "a day or two in advance" to make sure they'll have the flavor you want. So, for a Wednesday event, I called on Monday. Actually, I called twice on Monday, and no one picked up, and you can't leave a voicemail, so I eventually found the "Cake Inquiry/Order Form" on their website and submitted my request. They responded to me later that day, saying that they'd already baked their cakes for the week and that it was too last minute to make new ones. I had to choose from the few they had on hand. When I picked my order up, I let the girl behind the counter know that the website was misleading, but who knows if they'll do anything about it. 2. Taste I got one each of the chocolate and Irish cream cheesecakes. The crust is utterly mediocre. It's there, but it's flavorless and does add as much texture as you'd hope. The body of the cake is great, especially if you like basic, classic flavors without all the fancy add-ins that places like Cheesecake Factory will put on (e.g. blueberries, Oreos, marshmallow, etc.). Dense and creamy but crumbly at the same time. The small dollops of frosting are melt-in-your-mouth smooth, hugely preferable to whipped cream. read more

Oakleaf is the BEST! We have gotten 2 cakes from them so far, 1 for my husband and 1 for our son. Each time they exceeded our expectations. This is my new favorite place for coffee: the cafe offers six different roasts and every cup is fresh-ground - and it's still cheaper than my other go-to cafe, which offers one roast which is not fresh-ground. The homemade "pop tarts" are wonderful whenever I've got a sweet-tooth. I kinda wish they offered something more savory - I'm pretty sure whole wheat is entirely banned from their premises - but all of the sweet stuff I've tried is really darn tasty. Their homemade hot chocolate is great for those who prefer theirs not-too-sweet, but if you're of another persuasion you can gnaw on the homemade marshmallow they offer you while you drink it. read more

So I had my daughters Bridal Shower in Boston at a fine restaurant venue. I'm from the south shore so I wasn't familiar with the bakeries in the Boston area. I googled Cake Bakeries and found Oakleaf. I emailed them a picture of a cake my daughter had found on Pinterest that she really liked. I started corresponding with Renata via e-mail and sent her the photo. She created this cake exactly like the photo! I also requested a strawberry flavor for the cake with an Italian buttercream frosting. It was totally amazing from the design to the flavor! Absolutely perfect;) Also can I say the customer service was top notch! I had them deliver it to the restaurant. It arrived exactly on time and in excellent condition. I would highly recommend this bakery if you need a custom cake order. You won't be disappointed;) read more

Oakleaf provided cupcakes for our Wedding at the NE Aquarium this July. After reviewing so many vendors while planning our event we were so excited to land on Oakleaf! They were incredibly easy to work with and the cupcakes were delicious! Oakleaf accommodated some special requests of ours to keep to our theme colors and we loved the way they turned out. Thank you Oakleaf for a stress-fee wedding cake experience! read more

The cakes in the window are clever and beautiful, but we tried the lemon and "awesome" cupcake and were disappointed with the lack of flavor. The cakes were dry and the frosting had almost no flavor. read more

Place is small but amazing. Got to try the vanilla bean cake with chocolate buttercream frosting before I even said hello. So many choices of goodies. Had the Oreo trifle which was decadent. The spiced apple cider was perfect and the hot chocolate was deliciously pleasing to the palette. The pop tarts are amazing and even better when warmed up. They have vegan and regular bakery items. A must for anyone bositing the area. read more

Cute bakery shop. I've tried and enjoyed their Aztec chocolate pop tart and ginger pear muffin - both delicious. The Aztec hot chocolate was rich with a hint of spice. My friend had good reviews about their vegan blueberry muffin...apparently they always try to have a few vegan options available, which is nice. read more

Cute atmosphere, great coffee, and delicious baked items. We tried the German chocolate "pop tart" and the oatmeal cream pie. They were both awesome! If I lived closer, visiting Oakleaf could become a habit. Also, the staff were super friendly. Loved it here! read more

Very cute and bright cozy place! Latte was solid. Strawberry cupcake was yummy! Frosting was light and airy but creamy: some of the best frosting I have ever had. Cake could have been more moist but the frosting definitely more than made up for it. read more

Thank you for wonderful cake for Beethoven's 248th birthday December 16.  Terrific design and execution of Beethoven and Schroeder in appropriate color and with beautiful musical notation.  The chocolate cake and raspberry buttercream filling were truly worthy of the beautiful design on the fondant.  Our musician guests were much impressed.  We high recommend your wonderful work. read more

I recently ordered a wedding cake cake from the Oakleaf Bakery and they did a splendid job. The detailing was impeccable and the cake looked stunning. It was exactly what I had in mind and more importantly they were able to translate my vision despite communicating only through phone and emails. The workmanship was so great that for the longest time everybody thought the roses on the cake were real (they were sugar roses actually)! To top it all, it was delicious! Especially one of the flavors was coconut, and it was highly appreciated as it was something unique. The cake made the day extra special. I would highly highly recommend the bakery for anyone looking for an artistic and delicious cake! :) read more

The worst part about this place is that it's 3 blocks from my apartment. The second worst is that they make cupcakes that haunt my dreams. Perfect cake, perfect frosting, perfect flavors. If I lived in Winthrop, I would be in serious mourning that Oakleaf decided to move their shop but hey, Winthrop's loss is my gain and all's fair in love and cupcakes. read more

We used Oakleaf cakes for our daughter's 1st birthday and was very pleased. We ordered 24 cup cakes, personalized cookies, and a two tier cake. They were very professional and delivery was right on time! It was a bit challenging getting a hold of them via phone. In terms of flavor- we ordered Nutella and couldn't really taste much of a difference between that and chocolate, but it was moist. Thanks, Oakleaf! read more

I am a vegan so I love finding bakeries that offer vegan items. They always have a pretty good selection depending on the time you go - typically a cookie, a muffin and a cupcake or two. And hey also rotate the flavors often too. Haven't tasted everything but I love the peanut butter cookies - they're pretty sugary so make sure you have a cup of unsweetened soy milk to even out the sweetness, their vegan muffins are good as well. The vegan vanilla cupcake are okay. One thing is if you're vegan I suggest you call ahead and have them hold your items for you because I've dropped by one too many times to find out they were sold out of the vegan options or had something I didn't like. Also make sure you call before 5 because after than it's a hit or miss if they answer the phone. And after 6:30ish they don't bother to answer it at all. Will probably try and get a red velvet vegan cupcake when they start making them. read more
