My wife and I love the Oak Mountain Winery. So much so, in fact, we become members of both wine club and the distillery. The customer service is always top notch and the folks working the bar know their wine and/or spirits without having to pull out a cue card. My wife and I are both primarily red wine drinkers and the Oak Mountain has some of the best reds in the Temecula Valley. We've eaten at the Cave Cafe a few times (both outside on the patio and with the cave) and the food has been very good and definitely worth returning for, especially when paired with some of their delicious wines. If you get a table within the cave, the table arrangement allows for a bit of privacy and helps reduce some of the surrounding chatter from other diners. If you're up for a bit of history and some wine tasting, I highly recommend the wine cave tour. The guide is very knowledgeable and it's fun to hear about how the cave was created while sipping at some wonderful wines. If you go on a weekend or a holiday, be prepared for a bit of a crowd. The winery can get quite busy when some of the small tour companies and regular visitors show up. Parking can also be somewhat of a challenge on busy days. These things don't lessen the overall experience, but definitely something to keep in mind. When Oak Mountain added the distillery, it most certainly raised them a few notches over everyone else around. The spirits selection is limited, but the choices are excellent. The bar folks can make just about anything if you ask or suggest a similar drink for you. The distillery doesn't open until 2 pm, so it's a great stop late in the day. read more

I visited Oak Mountain Winery for a reunion with friends and was amazed by the experience. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable - although there were no outdoor seats, we were able to get seated right away inside the wine cave. I'm grateful that they did not have any outdoor seats left because we would have gone here without getting the full experience. The cave had rows of barrels that separated the tables from each other and allowed for private dining. There are also special rooms that parties can reserve for events. We ordered both the chimichurri steak frites and charcuterie plate for a shared meal. The portions were quite fair and the dishes were fresh. We did not know all of the different cheeses on the charcuterie plate so our server explained it to us. He also showed us how to open a bottle of wine properly! It was a really neat experience visiting Oak Mountain and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the Temecula area. There are some tour buses that take guests here so you don't have to drive yourself if you don't feel like it. Overall, a great place to try out. read more

We had a cave tour with Judy Friday morning. She said she likes Thursdays and Fridays because it's less crowded. We got a groupon and reservations the day before and off we went. Judy is a crack-up and you can tell she loves what she's doing, and that she's proud of Oak Mountain. She kept things interesting and made sure our glasses were ok after "evaporation" and "angels getting their share". She was right about Friday - we went into the cave and were the only group in there so we were able to hear everything. Afterwards, we stayed and had lunch in the cave - I mean how often can we say that? They had a single table alternating with a row of barrels so it "sort of" private. This is a long overdue review. We have been coming to Oak Mountain for years. And we are fortunate to have very generous friends who are premier members so we rarely have to pay for glasses of wine. Things to like here: gorgeous views, good wine, excellent service, delicious food with very reasonable weekly specials, inside seating in their cave gives a dark and intimate ambience, outside dog friendly patio seating too. They just added a distillery, so that's an option too. Their wine club parties are pretty awesome. They go all out with food, prizes and lots of wine! So why haven't we joined as wine club members? Oak Mountain Winery is a fun place to spend the afternoon We found their sparkling raspberry wine and Sangiovese blend to be very tasty and were our favorite (see Wine Tasting sheet). It's a one of a kind winery that's in a huge cave. Natural air conditioning if you will. They also have a multi-tiered wine club, that mostly costs nothing and allows you a 15% to 20% discount on their wines and meal at the Café. Nice! My husband and I went to Oak Mountain Winery last month and it was such a unique and romantic date night spot. I enjoyed every type of wine on my wine flight. The ambiance was very romantic and unique (we sat in our own little nook surrounded by aging wine barrels). We order the tomahawk steak to split (my husband was not a fan, but I thought it was okay). This was my favoriate winery of all the ones we visited. The staff was ABOVE friendly and helpful. They were super cool about inviting my small party inside, with our dog, out of the heat. Went with a group of seven and called before to see if they could accommodate a vegan. We were told no vegan options on the menu but the chef could make something. When we arrived I asked the hostess if they can accommodate a vegan and was told no problem just mention it to the waiter. The waiter told me they used to serve vegan options but no longer. One of our favorite wineries of the day was Oak Mountain Winery. I am so glad I made a reservation for lunch in their Cave Cafe. It was such a fun experience and we were able to enjoy tastings from our private seats. I did a tasting of their red wines and my husband was happy to get a break from the wine, so he ordered a beer. Their food menu provides a lot of options and at some great price points we don't see down in San Diego. The salmon and risotto was so delicious, loaded with flavor and perfectly cooked. My husband also really enjoyed his braised short rib. And we also split some of the tri tip fries which I know my husband will order each time we come back here. It definitely gets busy, so I recommend making a reservation in advance for lunch and/or a tasting. read more

Established in 2004, Oak Mountain Winery is home to the first mined wine caves in Southern California. The place is quite large and you can take a tour of the caves, taste wine and have lunch. Parking is easy. The service is pretty good, they are a tad slow with taking food orders, but I guess they were busy. We had burgers and pizza and it was really good, especially the pizza. As to the wine, it was very good and a reasonable price. We tried several and took a few home. I felt very safe here with Covid still a huge problem and I will return. I don't usually care for Temecula Valley wines, but Oak Mountain was very good. Have fun. read more
