Excellent food, service, staff was great and the space was romantic and quiet. Awesome 36th anniversary dinner!

We went there for our anniversary as we haven't eaten there in years. Their menu has changed a lot. It's very meat- centric. Not enough options if you lean towards vegetarian or even just don't want a giant hunk of meat on your plate. The pork chop was cooked well as was the trout but the rest of the stuff on the plate was either uninteresting or strange. The baked beans with the trout, plus a small cabbage salad with dill was just a weird combo. read more

One of the best meals I've had in Colorado. Chicken liver pâté, tuna carpaccio, kale and apple salad and hanger steak-- all standout dishes, perfectly seasoned/flavored/portioned. Zero complaints about the food and service. read more

Such a wonderful meal with outstanding enthusiastic service. Very good cocktails as well.

The food was good but the service was mediocre. Probably one of the better Boulder establishments in terms of wine list. Was very busy for dinner during the middle of the week when I visited with a friend, parking can be challenging to find sometimes. Had the pâté which was great and can't remember what entrees we ordered. Very loud so maybe not a great place for a first date. read more

If you're trying to decide where to eat, just stop looking and go to Oak at Fourteenth. Food - perfection. If anything else on the menu is even close to as good as the chicken and bacon wrapped pork that we ordered then you truly can't go wrong. Such flawless pairing of flavors and we split both and then worked magically together. Drinks- their cocktail list is incredible. So many unique and artful drinks - my East Aspen Heights was excellent and just the right blend of ingredients. Ambiance - fantastic inside and out. We sat outside and enjoyed beyond on a side street a little quieter than right on Pearl. Inside looked so nice and smelled INCREDIBLE. Lastly, service - home run. From the helpful host to Devin (spelling?) our excellent server (keep him around!) to the other helpful waitstaff we had an all around flawless dining experience here! Don't think twice - just go and you won't be disappointed!! read more

Outstanding food, nice ambiance and very friendly staff. We sat at the bar and watched Hayden - their awesome new chef - do his magic turning basic ingredients into a work of art. What a treat it was! I highly recommend the ceviche, foie gras (Great presentation) and the Porcini Rubbed Ribeye. OMG! read more

This place is very excellent even the kale is very tasty! We had the gnocchi the barbecue pork chop and both were fantastic. First time in Boulder but next trip will definitely have this place on the menu! Would have been a solid five but the manager is pretty Taipei while the rest of the crew is very laid-back and cool- also a couple of local characters who enjoy the spirits a little too much hung out with us a bit. Did I mention the staff is great! Yeah read more

Delicious, creative menu that includes fresh ingredients from local farms. Great service, reasonably priced, pretty good wine selection.

Hands down the best food and service in Boulder! Great for a date night, or also to bring family when they're in town.

The moment we walked in, we were confronted by the manager who accused us of taping the bartender. We were filming our drinks being made, because who doesn't when you're a foodie and enjoy the experience? First of all, we are gay and it cracks me up that this would even be something we are accused of. Second of all, to make the experience that much more uncomfortable, the bartender was openly discussing it with everyone on the floor. The awkward glances in our direction from the entire staff (manager included) complimented the wine nicely (insert sardonic humor here). It's unfortunate and we won't be coming back. read more

Honestly, the food was pretty bland and not well flavored. The service was incredibly slow for what we ordered. They ran out of a menu item, too, during peak dinner hours. The atmosphere is nice but the food was way too overpriced for what you get. My salmon was flavorless. The only thing worth ordering is the kale and apple salad. I expected more and better. read more

Oak has always been the very best dinner in Boulder. Nice atmosphere, nice service, great food. Their kale salad is the best salad I've ever eaten. Their bread is tasty. Their drinks are great. Unfortunately, they changed their very best dish on the menu this past year and now we rarely if ever go when it used to be a monthly staple. The Korean Pork Shoulder was by far the best meal on their menu and incredible for a small group. The kimchi was incredible, the pork fell off the bone, and the crispy rice was very tasty. Recently they changed to a teriyaki pork shoulder which is much less unique and no longer has any of the delicious additions. PLEASE BRING BACK THE KOREAN PORK SHOULDER and we will be back! read more

Beware...the cocktails here can be extremely well made. If a bartender can impress Mrs G when she orders a Vesper, it's the real deal. My benchmark is the Vieux Carre. They were both very well made. The food is quite good but I expected more from my burger which I ordered based on a strong recommendation. The service is excellent. I considered a 5th star but, couldn't get there. Super friendly bartenders and easy going atmosphere. You'll never find yourself looking around for service. Cocktails were good, and had the fried pickles and meatballs. They were "ok", never time I would skip the food and continue on the cocktail list! read more

Added a 6% "surcharge"rather then changing their prices as cost of goods goes up. One thing to add a fee that goes directly to staff as inflation rises, another to avoid raising prices by sneaking in a "surcharge" read more

After dinner one night we were looking for another spot to grab a drink and some dessert. Luckily we walked past Oak at Fourteenth and decided to stop in. There were no tables available, but there were a few seats at the kitchen bar. We posted up there and were mesmerized for the next two hours as the chefs masterfully prepped and plated incredible dishes. If you're a party of 2 and looking to have a unique experience, definitely sit here. After perusing the cocktail menu, we ended up with the OAK Oaxacan Old-Fashioned (acorn Fidencio, Ancho Reyes, mole bitters) and the Living Abroad (Hendrick's, St. Germain, Suze, rosemary grapefruit, lime, tonic, tropical bitters). Both were incredible for Mezcal and Gin lovers alike! For dessert, we went with the lighter Coconut Pavlova, which was refreshing and was just the right amount of sweet. I have not yet been here for dinner, but this visit was simply a great teaser for what's to come. read more

I had been wanting to try Oak at Fourteenth for a while. Dined there on 10/21 with my son and out of town friend. I definitely will NOT be back. Most of the food was fine but a terrible value. I am used to paying for a good meal but this place is over the top. I ordered the lamb chops. Two small lamb chops, three slices of cucumber, three tiny slices of potato and a few drops of decorative sauce for $44.00. My son was charged $5.00 for a slice of bread. My son ordered the gnocchi. It was so salty he could not finish it. It was not like any gnocchi I've ever had. It was more like blobs of mashed potatoes over shredded beef. Extremely disappointing. My friend had a salad and a tempura cod appetizer which she enjoyed. We were early guests, 5 pm. I and my son were the only guests seated facing the windows at the time. An older man in a suit who I will assume was the manager began opening the blinds. I let him know that the glare from the windows was shining in my eyes. Apparently he didn't care as he proceeded to open the blinds anyway. Very rude. Our server was polite and attentive. This place also charges a 5% service fee for the kitchen staff over and above their already exorbitant prices. We each had a cocktail. Our bill was close to $250. We left hungry. Extremely small portions for the price. Don't waste your money at Oak, go somewhere else. read more

This review relates to the service at the bar last night. Two bartenders. One working his butt off making drinks for the restaurant. The other pretty much doing nothing. Kudos for the one hustling. The other one should find a new line of work. We decided to sit at the bar and eat as the place was packed. Ordered an appetizer and got it pretty quickly. Then the fun started. Bartender kept disappearing so could not order another drink. Finally came back and I inquired about our main courses as it had been a while. He says he is going to check on it and goes to other end of bar. Not sure how that helped any. After another long period of time, the other bartender could sense my frustration and goes to open kitchen. Magically the food arrives right away. Unfortunately, they probably rushed the order as they were in process of cleaning the kitchen for the night and my steak was still mooing. My gut tells me the order was never put in properly. Things happen but what really ticked me off is the bartender never attempted to rectify it. Did nothing. I should have known as he never cleared the glasses when the people next to us left. They sat there as long as we did which was way too long. Food looked good as I did not eat anything except the appetizer which was just okay. read more

I had been looking forward to going to Oak on 14 since I moved to Boulder, and it breaks my to say that the food was a complete disappointment. Where it's supposed to be juicy, it's dry. Where it was supposed to be salty, it was bland. And the worst part of all is that for the money you're paying, the people in the kitchen should make sure you're getting a quality meal. I give it two starts only because the location is nice. read more

Amazing food--best in recent memory. Standouts: the smoked beets, tempura mushrooms, and the pork chop. Fab wine by the glass list and great customer service. I docked one star for the decor and ambience which could be warmed up and improved. read more

Stopped in after holding it around for a while and was pleasantly surprised. I arrived at 5pm and was given their mid day menu , which runs till 5:30pm. I had the apple - kale salad with some shrimp over it. The portion was generous and delicious. They served sparkling water at no charge - something I like. For dessert I had a peach and cornbread (?) and gelato dish which was just sensational. The Avery IPA on tap was perfect. Great kitchen and a friendly staff. read more

The food was good, at least the food we got not the food we ordered. On the menu there is a grilled pork chop listed and 3 out of the 8 guests at our table ordered it. The steak I ordered had a side I didn't want so asked if it could be subed for something else. She said she would ask and left. We ordered a bottle of wine and lots of mixed drinks. All was good. She brings out our apps and then 45 mins since she took our dinner order later she comes out and tells us there is no more pork chops. The menu is very small and come to find out there were ONLY 3 pork chops for the night! What the heck?! How can you only have 3?? And if that was the case shouldn't she have known that when we ordered it to begin with and told us they ran out? So disappointed. Then she tells me there are no other veggies to sub out. Again what the heck?! Asked for a manger and the guy that I had spoken to about the wine list comes over and says he is the manager. He doesn't know why the waitress didn't tell us about the pork chops. Says he will see what he can do for the veggies for my side. Doesn't offer anything for the whole debacle or even apologize. Then another guest from our group wants to talk to him and he gets a bottle of wine comped. But it has to be the same price or lower than the one we already chose. Not classy at all. I wouldn't have picked something more expensive but to say that in such an establishment is tacky. The waitress and buss boys would walk by our table, never picking up the dirty dishes that were piling up. Until I had to flag one done and tell him to please remove them from the table. Oh and we need more water. Is it my job to do this? Ridiculously bad service in such a highly rated place. While the food was good, the over all customer service left us sour and our night was ruined due to this whole incident and how it was handled. Portions were small and prices very high. Service horrible. Will we be back, no. Will we recommend, probably not. If owner or general managers sees this, please reach out to me personally. read more

The food was SUPERB. We came for drinks and appetizers, after reading a few of the reviews on Yelp and it definitely did not disappoint. We ordered two "small plates" the Ceviche and the Burrata, paired with a glass of wine, each. The food was fresh and just by a taste you could tell that the ingredients were fresh (especially the burrata- it was maybe the best I've ever had.) The food had me absolutely floored, it was phenomenal. However, I took off one star due to the price. For two appetizers and 2 glasses of wine, we spent $80. I do feel like that may have been a bit overpriced (considering there was a 6% surcharge for "supply shortages.") But- all in all, Oak was fabulous. read more

Wow. What an amazing bartender, creative libations and delicious food. Came here for dinner on a Monday night while in town nearby for a conference and were so glad we did. My colleague and I sat at the bar and the amount of effort put into every drink had us blown away. Such attention to detail and also a super friendly guy. Have come here a few times now pre- and post-COVID. Love them for their consistently solid food and service. Cocktails can sometimes be hit or miss depending on who's tending bar but can't go wrong with their wines by the glass. Absolutely love their kale salad and always order it regardless of anything else on the menu - just incredibly fresh and delicious. The gnocchi and skirt steak were excellent last time we were here. Wish they would bring back their fresh bread but can't complain otherwise! Love that they've expanded their outdoor seating. A Boulder staple. read more

My team picked this restaurant after an hour exhaustive search of Yelp and an enthusiastic recommendation by our client. I am so glad they did their homework. We had a table for 5, which the restaurant staff arranged to accommodate. Their willingness to get creative with seating was a very positive first sign. We were greeted immediately and seated with a smile. A lost art for some fine dining establishments. The waiter was very prompt to the table and explained the drink menu and dinner menus succinctly, yet informatively. It was clear he had tasted every item on the menu. 4 out of 5 of us selected the bourbon based cocktail that is the most popular alcoholic drink on the menu. It was fantastic. Our pregnant team member had a non alcoholic drink that was artfully presented and well received. After enough time to enjoy our cocktails, we moved on to the food. We settled on several small dishes to share for an appetizer. The first to arrive was the ahi tuna. It was fresh and lightly dressed with a refreshing mango accompaniment. Fantastic. Next was the meatball with marinara and mozzarella. Solid but not memorable. The final small plate, however, changed our culinary lives forever. It was gnocchi with shaved black truffle. Let me preface by saying I have eaten in marvelous, highly rated (Michelin Star, James Beard award winning) restaurants all over the world. I have dined on the most delicious dishes a man can be blessed to dine on. This gnocchi is the best small dish I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The sauce muted the black truffle just enough to allow the light fluffy gnocchi to remain the star of the show. Heavenly. For the main courses, two of the younger gentlemen on the team shared the family style pork shoulder. Two of us had the short ribs and one the risotto. All were tasty and perfectly prepared. The unanimous favorite, however, was the pork. The spicy yet sweet bbq sauce perfectly paired with the crispy skinned encased juicy pork shoulder to create a lasting impression on the entire table. If not for the previously described gnocchi, I may well have rated the pork as the best dish I have enjoyed. It was fantastic. The experience provided by this Boulder restaurant will stay with this traveling team of business professionals. I honestly can't wait to visit again. read more

Oak At Fourteenth, you have me in a pickle (and not that yummy fried kind with the green goddess aioli...you know what I'm talkin' 'bout). You see, I already have a favorite restaurant. But after dining with you, I'm torn and conflicted. You warmly welcome me in with that heavenly oak smoke aroma from the open kitchen's wood burning oven and stove. Your simple but sleek rustic decor makes me feel comfortable. And your service...well, it's just impeccable. A true team effort executed in an efficient, courteous, helpful, and available manner. It's fine dining service in an unpretentious atmosphere. And it makes me feel special and appreciated as a patron. But, of course, nobody goes out to eat for the atmosphere and service alone. It's your amazing food that keeps me coming back. You see, every dish I've ever eaten had has been incredibly spot on. I never knew how much I could love Brussel sprouts until I tried yours. The apple & kale salad is a light, bright, healthy addition to any meal. And speaking of must-haves, I always have to save room for your fabulous tomato braised meatballs and burrata cheese with Anson Mills Grits (the real deal from South Carolina, y'all!). I've eaten some spectacular ahi tuna at your place and sampled a bite of the interesting and delicious grilled hamachi collar with ponzu sauce. And I just love the adorable way you cook your Rocky Jr. chicken entree in a little skillet over the fire (sigh). So I guess there's really nothing left for me to do but keep loving you. And to sneak in visits to Boulder just to see you. read more

Oak at Fourteenth is a hip, contemporary restaurant right on 14th and Pearl in Boulder. It's rustic elements of metal and wood make this a truly enjoyable experience for either lunch or dinner. The atmosphere alone won me over, but their food is truly scrumptious. I have been a few times and every time I go I try something new and it's all outstanding. I went for lunch yesterday and tried their Thai Rice Noodle and Mango salad. I was extremely impressed with the amount of fresh ingredients. The rice noodles were perfect and topped with a bit of salad and fresh mango and cilantro. I could taste lemon along side a light Thai dressing. Wow, truly mouth watering. My friend chose the Grilled Chicken and Quinoa salad. I have to admit I had more than a few bites. Delicious to say the least. We all but licked our plates clean. If you ask the waiter he will bring you fresh bread and it's truly amazing. They also serve brunch. And I can't leave out their yummy house made doughnuts. We will be trying it again soon. Oak at Fourteenth is a beautiful addition to Pearl Street. If you are in the area you have to stop in and taste it for yourself. read more

I really enjoyed my lunch at Oak at 14th. Prices are reasonable, the service was phenomenal, the venue perfect and the food? Pretty damn good to boot. I went with the bacon and date salad and sadly, it's what's keeping me from giving this place five stars. It was good, but not awesome. Really great ingredients like fresh dates, delicious in house smoked bacon, but I just think as a salad it was a bit much of the same flavor. The dressing didn't quite pack the punch I was looking for and I got bored with it real fast. It would have been an amazing side. I can attest for the fried pickles and the meatballs served on a bed of homemade and might I add, perfect grits. The drinks were great, including a pretty large and-in-charge Bloody Mary with the perfect amount of kick. My friends' meals ranged from a burger with a side of home made root beer (it was the last of the bottle and 'twas flat) to a pork belly BLT (amazing) to a reuben to a quinoa and chicken salad and everyone was completely mesmerized. The tater tots were way more incredible than they sounded. For those who enjoy wine, their list is tops as well. Overall, a pretty wonderful and upscale meal in Boulder that I highly recommend for brunch, lunch and dinner. Not everything may not be hit out of the ball park, but they are giving it their best shot and their getting pretty close! read more

I don't get it. Websites rave about this place and my yelp gurus are giving a four star. However this was an expensive and below average meal The staff was awesome, helpful, friendly, and everything you'd want. The location is excellent right off the pearl street mall, and even good for people watching. However the food is just weird. I have had tons and tons of high end food, Asian food, fusion food, creative food, etc. Each plate (and we had four) was a hodge lodge of flavors that seem to want to have an Asian influence, but only moderately worked with one another. They seem use use high quality ingredients, but quality doesn't equal flavor. The braised meatballs were pretty good (although it's three tiny meatballs you are supposed to share family style). Off night or just not my style? Either way, I tried it and I'm out for trying again. I usually give a place a second chance but this clearly is a chef that makes stuff that my taste buds hate.
