The food here is absolutely amazing! It smelled so good just walking inside. The service truly makes you feel special and like you are at a fine dining restaurant without the general haughtiness. All of the staff were so passionate, warm, and welcoming. Standout personalities in the best way! As a foodie, this place was made for me. I always veer towards the more interesting flavors and the pastas were a standout! So good!!! It set the bar into the stratosphere for the entree, so I think I was a little disappointed with the grouper. The flavors were nice but nothing super unique, and I couldn't really taste the truffle despite it being front and center on the fish. Then we got the squash and cheesecake ice creams. OMG! Fantastic! I have never had squash ice cream before but WOW! They were not afraid to keep it at just the right sweetness, even adding some balsamic on top which went surprisingly great. And the ice crystals were so fine that it was more like a decadent gelato than an ice cream. Overall, absolutely stunning meal and experience. It was a little pricey, especially the entree for the portions but that's expected in fine dining, just something to note (38-48/pp entrees, we shared one but overall bill was still $150 w/o tip). We would have left hungry had it not been for the ice cream. Though, I can't even be mad, since I don't usually get dessert but I'm so glad I did! Marigold has been on my bucket list for several years. I was prompted to make a reservation when I saw that chef Theo Adley had opened Heretik in Rino recently and then noticed Google was promoting a wine dinner with 9 wines from Heinrich in far eastern Austria. My reservation was for the patio in front. A pleasant place to sit with the sun setting soon. There is only cozy seating for 32 people inside. The menu was tailored to compliment the wines. My server, J Nessa R poured a full glass of 2022 Heinrich 'kind of blue', a light refreshing white wine. I chose both wine flights expecting small pours, but J Nessa R was a generous pourer. So I tried to drink less. The first course was the rosti (grilled potato patty) topped with herbs and trout roe. Very tasty and my 2nd fish roe this week. Next was the chilled pea soup flavored with mint with a heavy drizzle of olive oil and a small square of sheep's milk cheese. So very good! The 3rd course was a small portion of butterfly pasta. The 4th course was grilled trout with cauliflower & crayfish in a curry sauce. Most of the wines are light bodied with high acidity which is typical for the alpine terrior. The last wine was 'leithaberg', a more full bodied red wine with a ruby color that accented the trout and my dessert of cherry clafoutis with custard cream. It was so good, I bought a bottle for $40. Several food items were delivered by Theo Adley himself. No service charge. I checked the gender-free restrooms. Both were clean & filly accessible. The patio and bar is first come first serve. I never had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant because of how poorly a reservation issue was handled. I made a reservation for four and later learned that half of my party could not attend. I attempted to cancel online but was unable to do so through the restaurant's system. I then called multiple times and was never able to reach a person. After exhausting my options, I left a voicemail requesting cancellation. Despite these efforts, I was charged an $80 no-show fee. What turned a frustrating situation into a terrible customer experience was the owner's response. Rather than acknowledging that the website would not allow cancellation and that no one answered the phone, I received an email from Eric stating that the charge would not be refunded. The email also contained contradictory statements regarding whether my voicemail had been received and included comments about sharing no-show experiences with restaurant partners throughout the state. I have no issue with reasonable cancellation policies. I do have an issue with a business enforcing those policies when customers are unable to reach anyone and cannot use the tools provided to cancel. Based on this experience, I will never attempt to dine here, and I cannot recommend making reservations with a business that treats customers this way when problems arise read more

This small, quiet restaurant is a real gem in Lyons, and our party of 4 loved the intimate and creative atmosphere when we dined on April 13. We ordered small plates, and basically asked for all of them. Our server, Leah J, paced the arrival of each offering and described the ingredients and sources. We enjoyed the bread, olives, farina, spring vegetables, prawns, beets, caesar salad, and curd. The baba a rum and budino were good desserts. This a is a small restaurant in downtown Lyons. Our service was outstanding. The server told us that the menu changes everyday. We sat down at a small table. Be sure to book a reservation, because there is not a lot of seating. We started with swordfish bites and sourdough bread. The entrees and dessert were definitely the best part of our meal. We got bucatini pasta and rainbow trout. The portions were perfect. They originally messed up our order, but it was corrected within 10 minutes. For dessert I had fresh ginger ice cream. My boyfriend got an upscale version of a peanut butter cup! I'd recommend trying this place if you are into small town restaurants. read more

What a find!! We were up in Lyons camping at the Rockygrass festival and I happened to snag us a reservation here. Eric provided excellent service and 'recommendations' I put in quotes because he was reluctant to, indicating everything there was great. He wasn't wrong. We had the peach and melon app, chicken and bucatini Nero dishes and a bottle of wine. Also had two Hugo spritzes and they were refreshingly delicious. Everything was so incredible we came back 2 nights later! Had the carpaccio, porchetta, and rigatoni. All was fantastic but if I had to choose our first nights choices were the best. The menu changes daily but always updated on the website. The restaurant is small and romantic, you definitely want to get a reservation though we had luck sitting at the bar on a Sunday night. The hubs and I had a double date here with friends a couple weeks ago. Our reservation was at 5 and we dropped over the giant mound of whipped paprika butter that greets you at the door when you first arrive. We ordered everything in one go and they have the set up done really well. The lighter appetizers, the servers can get to you pretty quickly with the aforementioned butter with bread, cured meats etc. I also got a salad with fresh tomatoes and more of the incredible bread. The star of the show for me was the celeriac vegetarian dish. Thin slices of celeriac in a light sauce topped with a bit of Parmesan and toasted crispy on top. I honestly could have eaten about five plates of this. Everyone was really happy with their dishes and service was fast and friendly. read more

We were an admittedly annoying group; we came in without a reservation for a birthday and moved tables several times because half of our party was late and the weather was not cooperating, The staff was cool about it and were very accommodating. After reading so many great reviews of Marigold and all the awards, my husband and I were very excited about trying the place. We both liked the intimate, laid-back atmosphere, similar to a small neighborhood bistro. I was glad I had made a reservation inside, because the patio consists of a few tables on the sidewalk, directly on Main Street. Despite the plants that offer a small buffer from the cars, it's not pleasant. What could be fun in a big city like Paris or New York, where people-watching and crowds can be part of the experience, is not at all Lyon's vibe. I love to start with a cocktail, but there were only five offered, all of them very classic, so I opted for wine instead. As for the food, the menu is also quite limited, but if it's well prepared, that's what matters to me. Regarding the menu, bring your phone to decipher it. I have an advantage being French; I can guess the meaning behind some Italian and Spanish terms, and I've traveled a good amount in Europe. Lucky me, brandade and caponata are not mysterious to my palate (these were on the menu). But I was scratching my head over güeyu mar conservas, finocchiona, farinata, stracciatella, maltagliati , bottarga di muggine. My husband and I didn't want to bother our waitress and started working on the translation. It could almost become a game. For example, Celeriac parmigiana is like the eggplant Italian dish, but made with celery root. However, we were hoping to have a relaxing dinner, not be tested on our culinary vocab skills, or lack thereof, and it quickly became annoying. We started with the bread and finocchiona (I'll let you guess what it is, so that you can see how "fun" it is), both very good. I don't know exactly how to put it, but I didn't feel welcome. Worse, very quickly, we felt rushed. It didn't help that out of the two drinks each of us had, our waitress tried to get our glasses before we were done half the time. I'd say the food was good, but nothing exceptional. What might have attracted awards and rave reviews is the originality of the cuisine. I do like to be surprised when eating out and love to order what I would not cook at home. But there's a fine line between interesting and pretentious. Unfortunately, the less than friendly service, hard to decode menu, and fairly high prices, brings Marigold into the arrogant category, trying too hard to impress. During dessert, she came to ask if we needed anything else, and when I answered yes by mistake (the place was loud, and this was a silly automatic response to the expected "is everything all right"), I got the bill right away. I guess I was not the only one not paying attention. My husband noticed, though, asking if I needed anything else. In her rush, she also had added an extra $19 glass of wine to our bill. Hard to believe in such a small place. We were both disappointed, and I left frustrated. I have friends who love good food coming to town and decided to check out this restaurant as a possible place to take them. Very glad that I did. A family of four was seated next to me. That's fine. I like children and often dined with my nephew and friends' children at nice restaurants. What I was not prepared for was the gentleman of the party who had absolutely no manners. He actually started singing twice during my meal and said lovely things to his children such as. "If we had gone to Chipotle you could have gotten your Diet Coke." The staff could tell I was not having a great experience but instead of inquiring what may be the issue, they tried several times to move me along rather than the table causing the issue. Yes, let's rush the single female diner quietly reading and cater to the crass male who didn't have even the most basic manners. Unfortunately, this is far too common. Common being the operative word. It takes a good front of the house to have fine dining and Marigold does not have it. There are far too many good restaurants nearby to tolerate an experience like this one. read more

Reminds me of Clamato and Clown Bar in Paris both genre-bending, supremely assured, and indifferent to trend-chasing ...Marigold exists in its own weather system. But unlike those Parisians, this isn't some Gallic emulation or Brooklyn redux. No. Marigold is Colorado, down to the grain of its bones and the pulse in its neck. It's rivers and granite and red bluffs overhead! The room is stripped down and quietly confident a restrained sort of elegance that doesn't reach for applause. Minimalist, yes, but kissed with intent. A back bar that could school half of Europe... a library of vintage amari, and a wine list that's a curated map of obsession . The service? Low-key savants. No theater, no hierarchy just a complete synergistic gaggle of HOSPITALITARIANS that know when to leave you the hell alone and when to chime in.. they are perfect ! And then there's the food....Christ, the food. This isn't tweezer-touched frippery or Colorado's usual hodgepodge of "elevated" this or "approachable" that. This is deeply soulful, expressive, world-class cookery. No fuss, no ego, no architecture on the plate just explosive flavor, restraint where it matters, and glorious excess where it doesn't. Vegetables that taste like they were listened to... really special ... Really Proper ... It's a kitchen that cooks like it gives a damn. You see it when the chef eyes alert, hands calm drops your dish at the table himself, and you can tell he's checking to see if it lands. Not for approval. But for connection. It's intimate. Unpretentious. Fucking electric. This isn't just a restaurant. It's a miracle in a state that too often settles for the glib and the generic. Colorado,the front range and sadly denver for all its bounty, has long been a city of plates, not restaurants. Dishes, not experiences. Concepts, not conviction. Marigold is one of the few maybe the only place in Colorado where you can say, without flinching, that 95% of the food and beverage program is executed at a high level, 90% of the time. Consistently. Seasonally. Emotionally. Name five other places in the Front Range doing that? Exactly. Maybe Frasca on a good night. Basta, when Kelly's in the zone. A few dishes at Beckon. A flash at Brutø. Let me start by saying that I think Marigold is a great new addition to the Lyons area. They opened last year and and their menu is inspired by Northern Italian & Southern French cuisine. The decor reminds me of modern farmhouse chic if that's a thing? I liked the lighting, art, and candlestick wine bottles adorning the front table. As far as comfort though I have to knock off a few points. I sat at the bar and it felt a little cramped and the stool was hard as a rock. Now, if you're a big bootied lady or fella these stools are NOT for you. I stood for half the meal lol. The tables were also pretty close together which reminded me more of a cafe and less like fine dining. Now for the food/drinks - . Aperitivo: mon chéri, off to the wild races, & le club 55 - all were good although I've had better Antipasti: babettes country loaf, white bean puree - this I'm sad to say was just OK. For bread at that cost I was picturing a warm, moist loaf but it's served cold and there's nothing that special about it. The dip was decent but I wouldn't order the bread again. Primi: bucatini 'all'amatriciana'. Very tasty and a nice al dente. A tad heavy on the lemon but would order again Secondi: hangar steak & pan-roasted cod, potatoes, snowpeas, xo sauce. I thought the hangar steak was the better entree and really liked the sauce it came with. It was cooked medium rare. The cod was cooked well but something about the flavors just didn't quite align for me. Insalata: heirloom spinach, soft egg, speck, honey mustard (ok, so this was one of the best salads I've ever tasted 10/10 recommend) Overall, a nice dining experience. **Edit--July 13, 2025** Last night we returned to Marigold for what was now our 3rd visit. The crew knocked it out of the park yet again, from host/server/sommelier-extraordinaire Eric B. to bartender Amy, and the chef and kitchen crew. Eric was his typical personable, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable self. The menu was fresh, creative, and incredibly flavorful. We started with the finocchiona (a must-have every visit) followed by the farinata ripiena--a perfectly-crisped chickpea flour crepe filled with cherry, fennel, and boursin. Next, we had the squash, which was presented beautifully and had amazing flavor. That was followed by their "peach with country ham" dish which consisted of generous slices of delicious peaches coupled with prosciutto-esque slices of aged ham and various accoutrements. This was one of our favorite dishes of the night: the flavors and textures were layered and complemented each other perfectly. Then we split 3 main courses: the rigatoni with taleggio, arugula, tarragon, and walnut (delicious); the poulet rouge (chicken) 'under a brick' with chanterelle mushrooms and apricot (perfectly crisped and moist chicken, full of flavor); and the wagyu beef en croute. We finished up with a scoop each of fresh ginger ice cream and brown butter salted caramel ice cream. If we had to pick a favorite dish of the night, the wagyu was probably it. Beyond the amazing flavor, presentation, and perfectly-cooked cut of meat, this dish truly showcased some amazing chef work. To take a less common cut of meat and figure out a way to make it into such an incredible dish...bravo! We learned that the dish takes over a week to prepare/cook so that it turns out just right. Chef Theo, Eric, Amy, and the rest of the Marigold crew: bravo and thanks again; we can't wait for our next visit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This past Saturday we visited Marigold for the second time. Our first visit, for my dad's 80th birthday, did not disappoint and we were excited to visit again. Chef Theo, the sommelier Eric, and our server (Madison?) were fabulous and the food was incredible. We had 8+ dishes over the course of the evening and each was delicious, creative, and skillfully crafted. There was no bad dish, yet the rigatoni with the lamb ragu was our favorite. Eric has a wealth of knowledge about wine and historical context. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. It was also a real pleasure to meet Chef Theo and hear some of his great stories. In addition to being a talented chef, he is extremely personable and down to earth. It was cool to see him out "front of house" bussing tables, chatting with customers, etc. He even took the time to lend a helping hand and coach me through filleting my first skate wing! Prior to coming here my mom and I were tasked on finding where to eat for my dad's surprise birthday in the Boulder area. We went back and forth for a while but ended up deciding on Marigold even though it was 30-40 minutes out of the way. After we ate there we completely forgot the drive because the whole way back was filled with conversation of our favorite dishes. Once we arrived we eagerly perused their menu looking down the list of unpronounceable menu items. We joked for the first couple of minutes to take the edge off because we were a bit intimidated by some of the ingredients. This feeling didn't last long once we met our waitress who made us feel right at home. She was our guide the rest of the night explaining foods we either a) couldn't pronounce or b) have never eaten before. She even offered suggestions on the perfect drink pairings with our food choices. My apologies in advance on not sharing our appetizer pictures but we ordered the beets, bread and scallop apps. All of these were a hit but my personal favorite was the scallop dish mostly because of how fresh and smooth the fish tasted which is a bit of an enigma in a landlocked state. On to the main dishes. I attached all of them in my Pictures. The rigatoni with crispy Dungeness crab was so Lucious I had to give myself some time to come back to my senses. I think the only thing I would have changed out of this meal, and again this is mostly me nitpicking, was the brick chicken. It was cooked well but when the party behind us had visibly crispy skin on their chicken and ours didn't it made me have a bit of FOMO. I mean what's better than crispy chicken skin? I'll still give 5 stars because this is such an easy fix and everything from The experience to the service to the food was top notch. Lyons, Co. We were happy to see a new restaurant in Lyons, and our friend Steve, a resident, recommended it highly. So now I get the honor of being the first to review, and these are my thoughts and opinions that may or may not align with yours. I'm by no means a culinary expert, I'm just reporting my own personal experience. The first thing I feel, upon entering, is a sense of fine dining, just well appointed and simple decor. Warm greetings by management, bartender, and server made us feel welcome and relaxed. I was off alcohol this weekend but I loved their wine list. Not often you can get a bottle for under $45 at a restaurant. The bare concrete floors add to the ambiance but help amplify the sounds which are a bit too loud, especially when talking over the music. Perhaps the main objective is to be a bar rather than a restaurant, I don't know. The tables next to the window were my first choice, but the long bench that served four tables is hard and becomes uncomfortable way before the meal ends. Our center table had reasonable distance to the table on the right but the table to the left was too close. When another couple was seated there I wasn't comfortable with the arrangement. Speck, Potato Chips, with Sour Cream and Onion Dip. Still assuming "Fine Dining" we fully expected homemade potato chips. What we got were Lays or Ruffles right out of the bag. The Spec was good and the dip was excellent, but I'm not sure this should even be on the menu. Burrata, Roasted Corn and Celtuce Salad with Chili. This was an excellent dish. It was so good I was glad that I was here. Rock Ford Cantaloupe, Ubriaco Pinot Rose, Sweet Onion, Hazelnut. This creation is a mastery of great flavors, moistness, and tasting something entirely new. Exceptionally well done. Littleneck Clams,Gulf Shrimp, Chorizo, Tomato, Croutons, and Aioli. A great dish, wonderful flavors on the tongue, kind of a seafood soup if you will. The clams tasted fresh! Being seafood, of course it is mildly salty. I was kind of hoping the chorizo would be the prominent spice rather than the salt! Grilled Coriander Crusted Pork Spare Ribs with Cucumber, Rhubarb, Roasted Onion, Labne. Well this was a surprise. I'm spoiled by rib places that provide meaty, succulent, fall off the bone tender, juicy, can't get enough of this, ribs. This is not that experience and apparently not the intention. These ribs are made very crispy, and ok, some folks like crispy bacon for example, and the flavor is kind of good. The actual meat, what is left of it, is kind of dry and chewy. So I went for the crust part and it was ok but not exactly enjoyable. The typical meaty part at the beginning of the ribs was full of small bones that I had to discreetly spit out. Maybe this dish is designed for someone who appreciates this sort of thing. Personally I didn't get it. Panna Cotta with Italian Cherries, Roasted Hazelnuts, Sweet Olive Oil Drizzle. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. We love our desserts and this just might be the best panna cotta I've ever had. Luscious texture, luxurious taste. Rhubarb Tart. Very nice, not holding back on the rhubarb, it comes through nicely but not too bold. Amazingly flakey and buttery crust, with even more rhubarb folded into the end crust, served with a scoop of cultured cream. Coffee with dessert? Forget it, there is no coffee. The server was recommending the chicken, but I rarely order chicken when I dine out. The menu is seasonal, based on local ingredients, so if the chicken is still on the menu when I return next year I'll give it a go. read more

A pleasant place to sit and chat with a friend,with good service and a good lunch menu with healthy choices

Made our date night reservations at this newly opened little treasure in Lyons. Creative chef whipped up unexpected combinations that made us both smile with delight. Service impeccable. Ambiance is quite fine, maybe even above average ... however, to me, part of the ambiance includes the vibe the wait staff contribute to the overall scene. The reason I gave a three and not a five has to do with the waiter who was sooooo stand off ish and when he was forced to answer questions or converse he was so very rude and condescending, wth? (trying to get AWAY from the rude servers in Boulder, He's bad for you business!) Maybe he was having a bad day so I'm not going to give a one star rating, but come on dude! What in the world were you playing at?? The food was pretty good. We had the Caesar salad and the Mackerel. The Caesar is overpriced for that it is. The fish was barely barely seared and mostly raw all the way around. We ate it but weren't super impressed. Not sure if I'll go back. While visiting our daughter in Lyons we had dinner at Marigold. Wow...just wow it was good. Friendly folks running the place and great service and food. Owner hooked us up with a couple of different orange wines that were as good as I ever had! It's a small spot in downtown Lyons that fills quickly. Make reservations.... read more

The food was superb! Lamb bolognese was fantastic and the shrimp buccatini with speck & peas had a lovely hint of lemon. Desserts were a pannacota with rhubarb, a more creamy chocolate mousse and babarum cake. All delicious. The service was excellent and it is a charming place. Highly recommend! read more

Pasta was good. Price for bread was ridiculous. Very pretentious. I did not feel welcomed.

This is a really special restaurant! The menu is so unique & the food was delicious and fresh. We loved everything we ordered. First off, the baby gem "caesar" salad is to die for. I would die for this salad. Marigold is a gem. We were visiting from out of town and came in on a busy Friday night and sat at the bar after a long day of travel. Loved the ambiance; cozy, chic, intentional and hip. A table opened up, but we opted for the intimate bar setting with Amy (the bartender) and enjoyed the view of the exposed brick walls and original wallpaper above. In addition to the salad, the marinated olives were the best I've had. The cantaloupe with ubriaco was an unexpected delight... and the burrata on corn, mind blown again. We barely saved room for the the rigatoni, which exceeded all pasta expectations. We finished our meal with the panna cotta, which was the cherry on bottom ;) I wish Marigold would transplant to Pasadena! read more

If you want delicious food, come to Lyons. We enjoyed the best meal at Marigold this evening. They've only been open 3 weeks, but every part of our meal was excellent. Service was attentive and their prices are reasonable. Cocktails were tasty and all the wine thoughtfully chosen. Also, all wine is available by the glass, which I love. Meal highlights included their take on Caesar salad, homemade potato chips and dip for starters. Their homemade pasta was excellent as were the "fall off the bones" pork ribs. But honestly everything was exceptional. This is a gem and a restaurant not to be missed. It's small, so make a reservation or try to snag a seat at the bar. We will be back! read more
