When we first came in and looked at the menu, my husband and I were almost ready to walk out because of how high the prices were. Everything on the menu is an average of $20-$26+ and that's even for things as simple as appetizers, salads or sandwiches. However, when we got our food and tried it, absolutely delicious!!! Made more sense for the pricing. Unfortunately we probably will not come back here just because of the high prices but we got engaged here in 2017 (when it was a different restaurant) so it was still special to come back for the last time read more

Our service was as cold as the weather outside, and much slower than it should've been, given the fact there was only one other occupied table present in the vast, windowed room. My husband enjoyed his burger with fries, and our view was extra cozy, given the gentle snowfall just beyond the sizable glass. I have dietary restrictions due to autoimmune diseases, and the waitress at least was able to conjure up something safe enough for me to eat. Was the chicken on my salad flavorful? No. But do I appreciate the effort to feel included? Yes, 100%. This is a place I wouldn't mind revisiting, given the convenient location, following a hike in Estes. After horseback riding in the Rocky Mountains, our tour guide recommended Wayfinder to grab lunch. First impression is the parking situation on the outside is a mess. There's not enough parking because right next to the restaurant is a country store and they share the same parking lot. The view is beautiful from the restaurant. You can see the mountains and it's breath taking. The service is really great here and we were seated without wait. I ordered the bison burger medium and it was cooked to the right temp. This is the first bison burger I tried that was not dry! It was cooked perfectly. The burger is under seasoned. French fries weren't anything special and the burger wasn't anything special. The bacon was thick and crispy which I loved! My friend got the pasta dish and said it was ok. It wasn't anything special either. It was cheesy and the garlic butter toast was perfect. Prices were priced at the higher end. Do I recommend this place? Its not a blown you mind type of food and it's overly priced. This was my personal favorite breakfast in Estes Park! My eggs benedict, which I got on a biscuit, and breakfast potatoes were very tasty. I also loved the biscuits and gravy! We both got horchata lattes that we really enjoyed. Unfortunately my husband did not care for his chicken and waffles and he is a chicken and waffles connoisseur so I will trust his judgement. Everything about this place was fairly average. The menu is extensive, but because I was not in a position to take leftovers home, I was not interested in a large entrée. Perhaps my experience would have been different had I chosen a steak or fish. My husband ordered a basic burger. I was expecting something juicy and delicious. Frankly, the patty was pretty small and it was very, very ordinary. The cheesy grits had a nice texture, but they were very bland. I has the super salad. it looked delicious and tasted pretty good. I was a little disappointed that some of the berries were squishy and at least one had mold on it. Our server was nice enough, but she was very quiet and really hard to hear. She could've been more attentive, especially considering the restaurant was not very crowded. The exterior of the building could definitely use some work. I had high expectations after reading the reviews on Yelp! This is a cute and cozy restaurant located just outside the national park. We were one of two parties seated in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, I was bummed because they said us in the dining room near the parking lot while there was an entire dining room with a large window overlooking a frozen pond. We would have loved the dining area with the view, however I feel we were seated closer to the kitchen. They have a big menu which would be a bonus for families or those traveling with picky eaters. I would give this place a 3.5 stars. It's actually a decent place for diner food, especially for the area. We went after a weekend trip and it was an enjoyable place with nice service. Now, this might have been on me, but for some reason, I decided to order the Breakfast Trout. By all means, it was not bad, just a little bland. It was fine, but I would not order it again. It was also decently sized. The other people in my party ordered more usual breakfast dishes, they said that their orders were good but again, lacking a little bit of flavor. The one thing that stood out for us compared to other restaurants we ate at in Estes Park was their service. They were on top of their game checking on us frequently and providing g refills as needed. Another restaurant that we visited we didn't have a waiter come to our table for over 15 minutes after being seated! We liked Wayfinder for several reasons. We were able to sit on the deck with our dog for a meal. The food is fantastic- everything g we got or saw coming out of the kitchen was prepared well. Between our two visits we ordered the elk. Met the owners of the establishment, always a treat and good sign. I Suggest any of the lattes, they come in a big drink glass not a cup. The chai and Irish lattes were delicious and not too strong. My husband loved his burrito. I enjoyed the Monte Cristo. Prices were spendy but assume maybe the whole town is. We were only visiting from out of state for the day from seeing the family in Denver. I read the reviews and menu so thought it'd be a nice experience. I was shocked to learn the view of the water and mountains is only for dinner time. Breakfast and lunch customers only get a view of the parking lot. So you have to decide what you'd like beforehand so you won't be surprised too. The Estes BBQ Burger comes with a burger patty, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, onion strings, and double cheddar. The Mountain Man Burger comes with an Elk patty, pepper jack, grilled poblano, avocado, and garlic aioli. You also get a choice of hand cut fries, sweet potato fries, or a small house salad with your burger. Both burgers tasted pretty good, but I'd say that I liked the Estes BBQ Burger more only bc I wasn't a huge fan of the Elk patty in the other burger. The Tres Leches Bread Pudding was delicious! Stopped here for dinner on our way home from a hike at Rocky Mountain National Park. It was nicer inside and more expensive than we were expecting given the outside of the place. The service was good. I got an 8 oz sirloin with red wine demi-glaze with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts. I wasn't a fan of the Brussel sprouts but the mashed potatoes were delicious and flavorful. Part of my steak was kinda tough and the I was a fan of the whole peppercorns still in the sauce. I did like the fried onion bits on the steak though. I liked the cocktail I ordered. It was nice and sweet. I would come back but next time I'd order something a bit different. read more

Breakfast around 8:30am. Pretty low key unassuming appearance, very clean. Only a few other tables eating so I was a tad worried. No need to worry. Jose our server brought coffee right away and gave us time to choose(lots of options at breakfast). He was knowledgeable about gluten free options, informing me that the breakfast potatoes would be cross contaminated, but the grits were GF. I enjoyed the Denver scramble-lots of veggies and ham! We asked Jose about the thin crowd. He explained that this summer has been especially light, using about 1/2 the servers as past summers. He said he was in touch with many other businesses that said the same thing, much less traffic this summer in their business than past years. The view at this place is wonderful. It's nicely appointed and staff was friendly. We were seated pretty promptly and our food arrived quickly as well. My friend had an omelette and I had the breakfast chilaquiles. Both were okay, nothing spectacular but not terrible either. They do have sour bread as a side option, which is always a great option. My eggs were perfectly cooked over easy. The chili verde pieces were delightful, but there were only a few. Overall portions were just right. The morning drink menu was delightful, and I still wonder what makes a margarita, a breakfast margarita. It's tucked away in the back of the parking lot, so a bit tricky to find. The Wayfinder is a funny name for this place because this place is WayHARDtoFind. You have to look for this place behind a gas station. Google maps doesn't know where to send you. The best part of this place is the menu. It has so many typos that it has to be a joke. We laughed and laughed. But seriously, this is one of the first restaurants I found on Yelp where we could grab dinner after spending the day at the Rocky Mountain National Park. This place has an awesome view! Unfortunately this experience was not what we expected. When you walk into this restaurant, you are greeted by an absolutely beautiful view. We were seated next to the window and had the treat of watching geese in the water. The service was top notch. Our server was personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. Absolutely no complaints. The menu has amazing options, but when our food arrived, our experience began to deteriorate. We ordered the Brussels sprouts with bacon jam to start. The flavors in the bacon jam were overwhelming and salty, and the Brussels sprouts would have been much better if they were slightly crispy. I ordered the duck. My husband ordered elk strip. My meal was lukewarm. The duck seemed to be cooked the correct temperature but the ends were very chewy. The duck was presented on a bed of puréed sweet potatoes. The dish was covered in sauce that again I found to be overpowering. The asparagus was fine and unremarkable. My husband's reply regarding his elk steak: "mine is better", which is not his personality at all. Overall, we were very disappointed with this meal. The prices are very high for mediocre food. I planned on ordering crème brûlée for dessert but after the meal, I honestly didn't want to spend more money for yet another disappointing course. read more

However, he had eaten here before but swore it was a different name, so maybe this is a new owner. We arrived and found great parking and walked in to find most of the tables were vacant. When we finally were waited on, we placed our drink and food orders. The coffee came quickly and was quite good. Food came a long wait after. However, waiting on the food to arrive, we either became very hungry, or the food was real good. I'm going to say that it was real good:-) After finishing our meal, it became a long wait to pay. We were very pleased with our first meal - dinner - at The Wayfinder. My husband, who used to be a chef, had good things to say about everything, beginning with his margarita. He ordered the pork chop special which was very flavorful and accompanied by fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. I had a crab and avocado salad. Everything was fresh, the crabmeat plentiful and dressing very tasty. We didn't order dessert because the portions were large, so can't offer a review for them. I think this is the best kept secret in Estes Park, Colorado! It's right next to a gas station so you would never think anything of it and from the front you certainly wouldn't. But when you get seated and go out back by the pond and have the most beautiful Ribeye and brussels sprouts I promise you'll be back. And we were turned away from taking our dog to a restaurant across the street so we were just sort of panicking about where we could eat and they were absolutely lovely with her.
