This was our first time at the Rock Inn. We really enjoyed hearing some live music with some handcrafted cocktails. The bacon wrapped dates were spectacular, salty and sweet and savory all at once. We shared a pizza and a salad which were both very very good. Our server named Jake happened to have his artwork on display in the restaurant which was quite good. Overall I would highly recommend trying this old school place, we come to Estes several times a year and definitely plan on going back. Several other meals looked really good. read more

A rustic cabin ambiance with the obligatory mounted moose head. Great artwork, that is for sale, adorns the wall and a couple of them caught our eye. We were immediately seated and greeted and got our drink orders filled quickly. We got the Spicy Corn Dip as an appetizer and despite the name, it's only a mild heat and we loved the flavor. The bread that came with the meals was a nice ciabatta with a wonderfully flavored butter. My entree was the stroganoff that had lovely mushrooms and topped with Parmesan shavings. My wife had the Grain & Greens bowl and loved her meal as well. We tried the Apple and Raisin Bread Pudding in a Bourbon Sauce and it was also good. The Rock Inn was a great respite for great food after spending the day in RMNP. Sam A was an excellent and attentive server who provided good suggestions and fast (but not rushed) service. We started with the Devils on Horseback (bacon wrapped figs) appetizer which was tasty. We ordered a couple flights of local beers, and then dove into our main courses which included (2) Gold Canyon burgers, bison marinara and pasta calypso. Each was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. We were stuffed... but that did not stop us from order some yummy bread pudding. Oh how I've missed you! This is hands down my favorite place to eat whenever I'm in Estes. Everything here is consistently amazing. The appetizers are a must--especially the elk sausage and the Cajun shrimp over a bed of grits... sooooo good. The main dishes are just as impressive. The steaks are incredibly tender and packed with flavor--cooked perfectly every time. Pair that with their great cocktails, and it's a win all around. Service is always top-notch. The staff and front greeters are some of the nicest people and truly make you feel welcome. One tip: if you're visiting in the winter, getting a table is easy. Summer? Good luck Expect a wait--and it can be a hot minute--so eat a snack beforehand. Totally worth it though. Can't recommend this place enough. Lisa was such a wonderful waitress. She was extremely friendly, attentive, and got our food out quickly. The menu had so many options but we picked steak tips and fries for our 3 year olds meal off the kids menu, Caesar salad with steak tips, and chicken flat bread sandwich. The food was perfect after a long day of hiking in RMNP. They had an extensive drink menu and my husband had the Colorado bourbon flight and I had a saint theresa (it was so refreshing and I'm going to try and make it myself). We sat outside and weren't cold at all. They have heaters over each table and flaps down to make sure you are comfortable. We found this gem based on reviews and they were very accurate. So wonderful! We called ahead to find out when they might have a table available, then we showed up at the appointed time and were seated within a few minutes. We ate outside under the roof (thankfully because it ended up pouring rain halfway through dinner). Whoa. What an unexpected hidden gem of a place. When reading the menu it seems simple and honestly uninteresting to me. However our food was absolutely delicious and great execution. My favorite meal for my entire visit in Colorado. The elk sausage was delicious, the bison meatballs were tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The stroganoff, which they don't advertise is with house made noodles !!!! Was a true highlight. They cooked the mushrooms in a way that they were able to infuse flavor in it which I usually encounter a plain boring button mushroom. Not here at all. I don't eat beef, but the filet in the dish was so tender I wouldn't even known it! And the orange cheesecake was truly a chefs kiss. Made in house, tasted like I was biting into a juicy orange, so light and fluffy. This place is a treasure. read more

Some of the standout elements...the evening we went there was live music and the musician playing was really enjoyable. It wasn't too loud and was a really fun addition. There's great art throughout the place. I enjoyed walking around looking at all the pieces. One other element they sticks out to me is how much our server loved her job! What a great spot! The food was amazing. I had the bison meatballs and my husband had the bison marinara fettuccine. We both finished every bite! I also had a margarita with dinner. It was well-balanced and refreshing. They had a singer-songwriter performing in the dining room the night we were there. He was really good. Sound level was perfection. Loud enough to hear the music but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Ambiance was very nice. Staff was great too. Service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend The Rock Inn. This has a roadside tavern in a log cabin kind of feel and seemed like a place locals would go. It was a fun experience. At 6pm on a Saturday in October it was very busy, but things moved really quickly, so wait time for a table or food was not bad at all. The live music was a nice background, not so loud that you couldn't enjoy a conversation. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. The Cajun shrimp appetizer was well done and tasted great. The warm bread and cinnamon butter was delicious. Caesar salad, steak, and veggies were disappointing. The filet was surprisingly dry and a little tough. I never add salt to my food, but the steak needed it. The veggies were kind of bland too. The brownie sundae was amazing!! They really nailed the appetizer and dessert. They have a variety of options on the menu with some weekly specials and an extensive drink menu. I had the Pineapple Pico Trout. The trout was cooked perfectly, light and flakey. The pico had a bit more kick to it than I expected but it wasn't too much spice (it could be too much for some who don't care for hotter spices). It was on a bed of fresh steamed veggies which were great. I also had a side Caesar salad which was the perfect size and the dressing was creamy with a good about of Parmesan flakes. One of the best places to eat at in Estes Park! We came here for a nice dinner after hiking in the Rocky Mountains and were able to snag a table for two on a Saturday at 7pm. There was live music and the musicians were very good! The interior is like a cabin and adds to the overall aesthetic of the Rock Inn. We tried the trout and stroganoff and were very happy with the meal. All the entrees come with bread and butter which was a highlight because their butter is a cinnamon honey butter! 10/10 butter! We came here with a party of ten and everyone loved their food. There was a bit of a wait for a table given our party size but they have a nice area out back to sit and wait where you can have drinks and even order a snack from the bar. Inside is super cozy, and the live music was great - not too loud so we were still able to talk and the kids weren't freaked out. My only critique would be the mixed drinks which seemed kind of weak and not that flavorful, so I would probably stick to beer and wine next time, but I would definitely come back. read more

The staff was great at getting us to a table but our waitress seemed too busy for questions about the menu or bringing a water bowl for our dog.
