The Hive is located on the second floor of the Estes Park brewery and the ambiance differs dramatically once you walk upstairs. They have what I'd describe as a modern ambiance and lots of natural lighting w their big windows. Food was reasonably priced especially the steaks that were both less than $30!! This was a disappointment after seeing the high ratings on some sites. It was very hot in the upstairs dining room and only halfway through dinner did they turn on some semblance of AC. We were seated in an odd location that seemed to have cleaning supplies and other miscellaneous elements scattered next to it. When being seated, we were given an additional menu that they apparently only offer on certain days, which was not the day that we were there. Service was inconsistent and a bit awkward: sometimes a lot of explanation and attention, sometimes abruptness or nothing. The elk burger was fine and the trout was good. The greens that came with the trout tasted like they were drenched in butter. The fries were described by the person who ordered them as the worst they'd ever had. Overall good experience! They accommodated us with our dog and the windy weather by letting us sit inside. We started drinks - I wanted the guava spritz but they were out. I tried the red sangria which was pretty good. For food, we started with wings and fried green beans. Both were solid! Wings very crispy and tasty. For dinner, I got the bison bolognese. Wife and I visited The Hive today 4/10/26. I ordered the Rocky Mountain Trout. I am so disappointed that I didn't capture a photo. IT WAS SOOOOO DELICIOUS. SO FRESH! All i needed was one lemon slice to add to the tastiness that I had. My wife had the Truffle mushroom pizza which TOO was very delicious! And FRESH. My husband and I split the elk burger which came with fries and we ordered one link of the bison sausage. So the good first, the elk burger was very tasty. The meat was very lean and had a really nice taste to it. Fries were good, and the bison sausage link was actually very lean and tasty as well. The only criticism I have is for the elk burger bun which was very tough. Almost like a pretzel bun, although I don't think it was that. I think a softer bun would be a much better fit than something tough like what we had. Beer selection was good and the bartenderess took really good care of us so Kudos on that. All in all, I think this is a solid place for a good meal at a very fair price. read more

While the place was crowded I was able to get a seat at the bar with no wait. Live musician was playing all kinds of popular tunes from various decades. The bartender was friendly and I was served a beer quickly. It didn't take long for my burger and fries to show up either. I would give the burger and fries a 7 out of 10. The wings were packed with flavor, and the green bean fries were perfectly crispy and absolutely delicious. For our entrees, I had the Caprese panini, which was fresh and flavorful, while my husband ordered the Reuben. So many places skimp on the meat in a Reuben, but not here - it was piled high. My family went to the Hive after a great day at Rocky Mountain National Park, and I'm so sorry that this was how we ended our day. There were so many great reviews (at least for one of the Hive locations on Yelp; I have since learned that there are two listings) that I felt confident that it was a good choice. I should have re-evaluated that choice as soon as we got inside. We started our experience by washing our hands in the restrooms while waiting for our table. The restrooms did not appear much cleaner than those inside the park (eek). Then we were taken upstairs to the second hostess station, which was just rather odd. While seated, we could take in the rather odd ambiance. It appeared that they got all their decor from multiple estate sales from the 70s. My husband and I both ordered the elk burgers, which left something to be desired. My bun seemed stale and I didn't finish half of it; it was just not good. The fries were ok. My daughter definitely had complaints about the quantity of fries for the kids meal. I could go on and on. I'll just end to say, all in all, it was a disappointment. Please look for alternatives in the area; this should not be your last experience in Estes Park. read more

We decided to come here after seeing 4.9 star ratings by over 9k people (google). Our server Imen was very friendly, greeted us quickly with waters and returned soon with our cocktail order. The food was okay- maybe our expectations were too high due to the great reviews. We shared the beer cheese with pretzel bites- small warm pieces of bread. I then had the elk braut served with dry sauerkraut and he ordered the elk burger which was overcooked. He loved his beer that he had and I left the place feeling like I wouldn't need to return or recommend the place. We went here because of the good reviews. I don't know if it's under new ownership so the food has changed ? because otherwise I don't understand the current 4+ rating. The food was just okay. The chicken tenders were the flat, hard, bland food service kind. The French dip was just okay (bread was dried out on the ends). The table had a used napkin underneath the silverware (lipstick on it). I will say the service was friendly. After a long travel day we wanted something easy but not fast food or too fancy. After reading the Yelp reviews we decided to give The Hive a try. It's located in the Estes Brewery but upstairs. The brewery has been there since 1994 with some limited bar food offerings. The restaurant part was taken over by new management about three months ago. They have inside and outside seating. We chose outside and it was lovely on the covered patio. We selected burgers with a side salad sub for fries. Two different types of burgers but both delicious. The prices are good too. The Bison Bolognese was good. Mac and Cheese was unlike any I've ever had, but it was ok. The pizza was bad, lacked sauce. The IPA wasn't that good. The raspberry beer was good. Steak was underwhelming, asked for medium rare and got rare. Forrest, our server, was incredible! read more

What a difference a day makes. We went on Friday, got an elk burger, elk brat and some rocky myn oysters. Other than extremely dry rocky mtn oysters, everything was great. Returned on Saturday, and oh boy, what a different experience. Ordered a rib eye, and let me say, I grew up on a Hereford ranch, this definitely was no rib eye, it was basically the cheapest cut of meat that could be "passed off" as a steak, it was barely over a quarter inch thick, and I am pretty sure it was cafeteria grade sirloin at the best, that may be giving it credit it doesn't deserve. And being so thin, it was impossible for anyone to cook it medium rare. You just can't cook a piece of meat that thin anything but overdone. My string beans were cold, and I don't mean undercooked, I mean so cold they still had frost on them from coming out of the freezer, that is NOT an exaggeration, I made the waiter feel them and he was dumbfounded. I would have given this a one star or no star review, but the wait staff on both nights were fantastic. I suggest they all go get new jobs at a restaurant worthy of the service they provide, because this is not the place for them! Oh,, and pretty much all their brewed in house beer is sour and not worth a por, only redeeming beer was the stout. Would definitely not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

Walking In- The Hive is inside Estes Park Brewery, but once we got to the restaurant, the atmosphere was stunning, with amazing paintings on the walls and an overall amazing vibe. Service- All of the food came out in lighting time, the servers were foreign and very respectful. Meal- The Rocky Mountain Oysters didn't have huge flavor and were chewy, but the sauce was spectacular, adding to the dish in so many ways. The caesar salad's dressing wasn't my favorite, but that was a mere preference. The elk burger was bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection, and all of the components complimented each other to make a great meal. After a long hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, this bee needed some honey. So I flew into "The Hive" brewery to see what all of the buzz was about. As I rested my wings, I was treated to some of the finest nectar (beer [alcoholic nectar (it was really beer [it was good beer (ha ha ha ha Swedish fish)])]) in all the land. This nectar was the bees knees. My wings felt stronger as I dined on a burger. My bee companion got the roast beast. She enjoyed it as well. No stingers were present at The Hive, only flowers, honey, and an excellent buzz. Home is where the honey is and The Hive has plenty of it. Thanks! read more

Here is my experience with The Hive at Estes Park Brewery. Upon arrival the hostess was quite nice and very personable. She brought us to our table and gave us the menu. It took some time for the server to greet us, we ordered our cocktails and beer. Great beer selection btw! We ordered the pretzel cheese dip for an appetizer. It took about 15 min for out drinks to arrive, the dip then came. It was tasty but very few pretzel bits for dipping. There was a lot of dip left over. We then ordered out main course, I ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken and my husband ordered the steak and shrimp. Again it took some time for the server to get our food, not sure why. The Mac and cheese with chicken is completely not what I thought. The chicken was in a whole piece and very dry. The pasta was cooked well but really not enough cheese to call it a "Mac and cheese" dish. My husband's steak was very good and cooked great.
