ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I will admit I can be easy to please but one bad thing will change my opinion. this place has amazzzzzing food and really nice friendly staff. We ordered and got our food in under 10 and they cleaned up our plates and returned with the check extremely fast as well. They are on top of it! The fries were on another level ,for real. The veggies my family got on our plates were all fresh and delicious. The meats were cooked to a perfection with little to no extra grease on the burgers and the chicken tenders were just perfect all around. The building itself is super cute and cozy with comfy booths , I've never been to Ireland but I'd like to imagine the restaurants are also like this. And it was interesting - looks and tastes similar to a hot dog which I typically don't care for, but there is a distinctive smoky/gamey flavor to the meat which I thought was fun. Overall it was a dense and messy lunch; I was eating and walking and my hands were a mess from the mustard and sauerkraut so plan accordingly, but it's a good size! Talk about mixed reviews! People either seem to love or hate Lonigan's but I'm somewhere in the middle. While walking around Estes Park, my partner and I noticed a sign advertising karaoke. We went back for it one night after dinner. I had a few Espresso Martinis and a basket of stale chips. Service was great. DJs were great. Karaoke left a lot to be desired. Many people were in the bar but few participated. Mostly guys that were obviously regulars. Overall vibes felt kinda weird, but maybe that's Estes Park! We go to Estes all the time. We don't usually eat at the restaurants because we have had some negative experiences. Today though we went into Lonigan's. We were so pleasantly surprised! First, the good. Our server was one of the best servers I've ever had. She was so attentive. The atmosphere was kinda loud but there were some quiet spots. The food was horrible, unfortunately. We got the sampler appetizer so we could try a lot of things and the cheese curds were awful, rubbery and tasted like they had been fried several times. The chicken wings were tough and the fried pickles were super salty. We also had the fish and chips which were ok but on the extra greasy side. We were in Estes with family for the holiday break and thought we would break from tradition and eat somewhere new for lunch. Bad decision. From the front, Lonigan's looks like a small Irish Pub. The signs out front with specials lured us in. Once inside, you can see that the place is quite large with 2 big rooms at the back that weren't open at lunch. Our server was the only positive thing this place has going for it. She was great...prompt, took our order, refilled our water. That's why we gave it a "1" and not a zero (which I know isn't possible but it should be). We ordered prime rib sliders which consisted of overdone roast beef on rolls with no seasoning. The Chicken Fried Chicken quoted as "homemade gravy" on the menu was bland and the gravy tasted worse than the powdered bag stuff. The chicken was like a bad frozen large chicken nugget. Again, no seasoning. The shepards pie was the best thing and it lacked flavor and seasoning. For a family who rarely uses salt at the table, we were POURING it on our food to just try to coax some sort of flavor out of our food. I felt really bad for the server because she asked us to leave a review and let them know what we liked (uh..nothing). We left a good tip because of the service...not her fault the food is horrid. Oh yeah, the place blares repetitive *irish* music so you have to speak loudly at a small table. I get the theme but give me a break! I also recommend using the bathroom elsewhere. Hubby had to almost duck to get into the men's room and told us that there was almost zero light to see. He hoped he was peeing in the right spot. I used the ladies room (should have held it) and same thing...dank, dark and it wasn't light outside, it would be nearly dark in the room. We went in the off season, and the food was terrible. We had a burger that was absolutely dry. We ordered a round of drinks and it was the worst old fashioned I've ever had and tasted like licorice. Pros: Friendly staff, good ambiance. Cons: The food was embarrassing lot subpar. I ordered a turkey club on toasted wheat. Bread was toasted seemingly at start of order preparation and the rest of the ingredients were never toasted, so the entire sandwich was cold. Turkey and bacon were so salty, I ate two bites and was done with the entire meal. My husband had the Bbq brisket sandwich and it was rated mediocre in his words. He ate the meat off the bun and a few fries. We also ordered the beer cheese dip as an appetizer, which comes with pretzel bread. While the bread was fresh and hot, very little flavor. Belligerent loud drunk Bad karaoke Cheap drinks Dirty tables Boomers dancing Young servers that don't know the menu With all the higher-end restaurants and watering holes closed for the day, Lonigan's was a safe choice. Ok, only choice but beggars can't be choosers. Not much in a draft beer selection, surprising for a state that's full of breweries, but the Stingray was cold, though a bit bitter for my tastes. Dinner was a toss up. The Rainbow Trout was perfectly cooked, but cardboard bland! Apparently the short-order-cook-for-the-day never heard of salt and pepper!! What could have been an impressive dish, was unsalvageable with the table salt and lemon wedges. Fail. The Steak & Fries were surprisingly delicious! Decent amount of seasoning, portion on the thin side, but overall cooked to a nice medium rare. The Chicken Tenders were slightly overcooked, but edible. Typical bar food. Each dish came with a side of string potatoes. Now those were perfectly seasoned, crisp, hot, and delicious!! At a good dive bar, you can always expect the loud obnoxious drunk yelling each thought two octaves louder than necessary, as it comes with the territory. Unfortunately, this Cro-Magnon's vocabulary consisted of F bombs for every other word. Management should take note of that as even for a dive bar, you are in a nice part of town and your late-late night customers have disposable incomes which we promptly took somewhere else.
