Realizing it's true that you'll have to get out of Chinatown to get a good bowl of pho. Got the house combination pho and the broth was actually so flavorful and I could taste the spices. There is also plenty of meat given. Only issue was that the amount of rice noodles was much too little. I didn't leave quite satisfied! Also got the crispy spring rolls with pork and the filling was delicious. The space is small with only a few tables and seating but they have an outdoor space as well. It is clean inside. Came here on a sunday around 6:30 PM. There was both indoor and outdoor seating available, and we were quickly seated. The service was very quick with bringing out drinks and food once we ordered. We ordered the house combo pho and the bun bo hue. The bun bo hue had great spice level, with ample meat. The pho also had good meat to topping ratio, but we found the bun bo hue to have better value. They initially only brought us a plate of bean sprouts, but brought us more once we asked. On a busy weeknight easily 20 minute wait. That said, the menu is a solid mix of pho in multiple configurations. Bún Bò Huế ($21.00): said to be spicy lemongrass beef and pork soup with thick round rice noodles, pork knuckle, brisket, tendon, beef ball, and Vietnamese ham. I found mostly pork and slivers of brisket. Good amount of tendon and cut up beef ball and ham . The broth was not particularly memorable nor spicy . I actually prefer the classic pho ba. Prices range $15-20. Their classic pho ba is not overly seasoned nor tasting of MSG . Rice plates with grilled pork, chicken etc are also solid . I love Vietnamese food and was in the mood for some while in New York, and Nón Lá looked to be a well rated spot in the Manhattan area. I went on a Friday in mid-afternoon and was able to get a seat immediately. Since it wasn't too busy the time I went, the restaurant was quiet with a few other diners. I can see this place getting busy during a meal rush - do note that there are probably 5-6ish tables in the restaurant, and as other reviewers have mentioned, ambiance-wise it does feel like a neighborhood place for people to meet up and enjoy a meal. Ordering is fast, I placed my order through a waiter was able to get my food in about 5-10 minutes. I got two options - the House Combination Pho ($19) and the Crispy Spring rolls for $10. I got the pork version of the spring rolls, and they were tasty. Thin crispy shell with a fragrant filling that paired nicely with the herbs and vegetables. As for the Pho, the broth was delicious, you could definitely taste some cinnamon and subtle sweetness. Better than the average broth were the fish sauce taste tends to overwhelm the general taste. Both dishes will scratch that itch for Vietnamese food nicely. I think in the end, if you are looking for some quick Vietnamese food in Manhattan, Nón Lá would full fill that craving nicely. The broth flavor was not particularly pronounced in both the Pho and the Bun Bo Hue. The Bun Bo Hue was only lukewarm. I don't understand the hype around this place? To me, it's a neighborhood spot at best. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon around 12:30pm, was sat for one pretty immediately, which was great. Service was prompt, I knew what I wanted and ordered quickly. The egg rolls as my appetizer, the chicken bun as my main. I also asked for a cup of hot water. They brought out a canister of water, but I didn't realize it was the hot water until maybe half way through the meal. Also, the hot water was definitely not boiled, but tap water from the sink, which is my least favorite. The egg rolls were good, would get those again. The bun was lacking peanuts and I could tell the chicken was not high quality, which was disappointing, but there was a lot of it. The ratio of chicken to pickled veggies and lettuce was very off putting. The Bun noodles were fine, hard to mess those up. To me, the food was mid, the service was fine, but nothing stood out to me. I am impressed and in love with the pho from this restaurant! I love their housemate limeade soda, it was so good, we got it 2 separate times in one day This is the closest pho location I've been to that is just as good as the pho bang on Broadway in elmhurst that I grew up eating. The broth was mostly my deciding factor. Most pho places probably put in a little bit more spices for the broth making it too pungent for me. The vermicelli noodles were great, and the ingredients were fresh. The beef brisket was over cooked though. The packaging was very detailed and considerate which I appreciated. It was $15 pre tax for a bowl of beef brisket pho $16.33 after tax. There was a $2 price increase from the menu 2 months ago, this is a steep price jump. I had an absolutely stellar experience at Nón Lá last week! I was looking for somewhere to dine as I recovered from a red-eye flight. Wait time without a reservation was super short (I was told 15min, but it took less than five to get a seat for one), and service was fast. It's a small, but cozy dine-in space with a lovely ambiance for a date night or outing for a small group. I ordered the limeade soda, pork spring rolls and house combination pho, and it was truly one of the best Vietnamese meals I've had. The spring rolls in particular were a standout -- perfect texture and very well seasoned. The pho was also delicious, and the soda was super refreshing. Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday - the restaurant is pretty small, very limited seating, so we had to wait about 20-30 min for a table for 2. My friend had been wanting to try this place and everything on the menu looked good. I opted to try the combination pho (since I've yet to find many pho's that I like in NYC) while my friend got the bun bo hue (or she may have had a miscommunication with the waiter and got the bun rieu so that's unclear). I thought my pho was alright, nothing great and nothing terrible. The noodles were perfect but thought the broth lacked depth of flavor which made some of the meats (mainly the tendon) taste like nothing at all. There also wasn't much tripe, which was disappointing since that's one of my favorites in my pho. I had a taste of my friend's broth, which I actually quite liked/thought it was a lot more flavorful and she enjoyed it as well. I had heard good things from another friend who said this was their favorite Vietnamese restaurant, and I tried it tonight and fell in love. The pho was SO GOOD. Thoroughly enjoyed my chicken lemongrass . The chicken was nicely cut up eliminating the usual chewy parts and the bread was so soft it almost felt like I was eating brioche . The sauces they put in it were delicate and allowed all the individual flavors to come together nicely while still having its shine individually. This is definitely high level sandwich making . As for their veggie spring roll , it was also quite good despite not having the sauce as it opened and spilled in the to-go bag !
