I love their housemate limeade soda, it was so good, we got it 2 separate times in one day This is the closest pho location I've been to that is just as good as the pho bang on Broadway in elmhurst that I grew up eating. The broth was mostly my deciding factor. Most pho places probably put in a little bit more spices for the broth making it too pungent for me. The vermicelli noodles were great, and the ingredients were fresh. The beef brisket was over cooked though. The packaging was very detailed and considerate which I appreciated. It was $15 pre tax for a bowl of beef brisket pho $16.33 after tax. There was a $2 price increase from the menu 2 months ago, this is a steep price jump. I love Vietnamese food and was in the mood for some while in New York, and Nón Lá looked to be a well rated spot in the Manhattan area. I went on a Friday in mid-afternoon and was able to get a seat immediately. Since it wasn't too busy the time I went, the restaurant was quiet with a few other diners. I can see this place getting busy during a meal rush - do note that there are probably 5-6ish tables in the restaurant, and as other reviewers have mentioned, ambiance-wise it does feel like a neighborhood place for people to meet up and enjoy a meal. Ordering is fast, I placed my order through a waiter was able to get my food in about 5-10 minutes. I got two options - the House Combination Pho ($19) and the Crispy Spring rolls for $10. I got the pork version of the spring rolls, and they were tasty. Thin crispy shell with a fragrant filling that paired nicely with the herbs and vegetables. As for the Pho, the broth was delicious, you could definitely taste some cinnamon and subtle sweetness. Better than the average broth were the fish sauce taste tends to overwhelm the general taste. Both dishes will scratch that itch for Vietnamese food nicely. I think in the end, if you are looking for some quick Vietnamese food in Manhattan, Nón Lá would full fill that craving nicely. The broth flavor was not particularly pronounced in both the Pho and the Bun Bo Hue. The Bun Bo Hue was only lukewarm. I don't understand the hype around this place? To me, it's a neighborhood spot at best. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon around 12:30pm, was sat for one pretty immediately, which was great. Service was prompt, I knew what I wanted and ordered quickly. The egg rolls as my appetizer, the chicken bun as my main. I also asked for a cup of hot water. They brought out a canister of water, but I didn't realize it was the hot water until maybe half way through the meal. Also, the hot water was definitely not boiled, but tap water from the sink, which is my least favorite. The egg rolls were good, would get those again. The bun was lacking peanuts and I could tell the chicken was not high quality, which was disappointing, but there was a lot of it. The ratio of chicken to pickled veggies and lettuce was very off putting. The Bun noodles were fine, hard to mess those up. To me, the food was mid, the service was fine, but nothing stood out to me. I had an absolutely stellar experience at Nón Lá last week! I was looking for somewhere to dine as I recovered from a red-eye flight. Wait time without a reservation was super short (I was told 15min, but it took less than five to get a seat for one), and service was fast. It's a small, but cozy dine-in space with a lovely ambiance for a date night or outing for a small group. I ordered the limeade soda, pork spring rolls and house combination pho, and it was truly one of the best Vietnamese meals I've had. The spring rolls in particular were a standout -- perfect texture and very well seasoned. The pho was also delicious, and the soda was super refreshing. Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday - the restaurant is pretty small, very limited seating, so we had to wait about 20-30 min for a table for 2. My friend had been wanting to try this place and everything on the menu looked good. I opted to try the combination pho (since I've yet to find many pho's that I like in NYC) while my friend got the bun bo hue (or she may have had a miscommunication with the waiter and got the bun rieu so that's unclear). I thought my pho was alright, nothing great and nothing terrible. The noodles were perfect but thought the broth lacked depth of flavor which made some of the meats (mainly the tendon) taste like nothing at all. There also wasn't much tripe, which was disappointing since that's one of my favorites in my pho. I had a taste of my friend's broth, which I actually quite liked/thought it was a lot more flavorful and she enjoyed it as well. I had heard good things from another friend who said this was their favorite Vietnamese restaurant, and I tried it tonight and fell in love. The pho was SO GOOD. I couldn't stop saying how amazing it was. My friend got a special menu item with a million different proteins and a tomato broth, and that was also delicious. I'd really give it 4.5 stars for some slight service issues and the size of the restaurant but it's closer to 5 stars! My roommate and I shared the banh Cuon which was really good and the fried shrimp cake on top was extremely crispy. The sauce it came with was great too! We both got the Pho Ga as it was a rainy night and it was 10/10! They give you a huge portion and the added garlic chili oil really put it over the top! One of my favorite places for pho. Non La is a small, authentic restaurant that is typically crowded. The servers are friendly, and overall it's a really enjoyable experience to eat there. We got a beef brisket pho and a grilled pork chop pho. The broth was so flavorful, and the brisket was cooked wonderfully. It was tender and tasty. The grilled pork chop had a delicious smoky flavor and paired well with the pho. They also have a variety of other Vietnamese dishes to choose from.
