I was in the mood for pho, so I had to do the nearest pho places by Grand Central as that's where I work. I will be doing a pho food tour to see if they measure up to queens standards. This place has ample seating, and they're really quick with taking your order and bringing you your food. I was quite confused why they had cafe du monde canisters on their wall as decoration. No, they don't serve it as dessert. Once you're done with your meal, they bring you the check asap. Anyways, unto the food that I ordered, which was the shrimp summer roll, and it was missing ingredients that most of the other places have in their rolls. It was tightly packed with shrimp, which I did appreciate, but the taste was a bit off. I also ordered the beef brisket & flank pho, which tasted differently, too. I asked for jalapeño and was told that they don't carry any. Which is very strange as other pho places carry jalapeño. The broth wasn't that great and just tasted watered down. It was a huge bowl, so I appreciated that as it was filled with noodles. At the end of the meal I was very full. But not satisfied! I did enjoy the Vietnamese iced coffee to go, as it was very sweet.

Limited authentic pho options, but this is the best choice in the area for Vietnamese food. The pho soup was decent, unlike Mama Pho. The summer roll was a letdown though, it was completely tasteless and you need to dunk the whole thing in the dip to get some flavor.

We were visiting NY and decided on some later than usual dinner.....something hot and soupy on a nippy cold night.....a hot bowl of soup Pho sounded just perfect. So, we yelp's some places and there didn't appear to be many Vietnamese pho places to choose from in this part of town, except for this place. Ok, it was past 7pm on a Thursday night and the place was almost empty....the place is very simply decorated, very casual, and there appeared to be just the one guy working here....behind the cash register and serving. On the one hand I was thinking to myself, ok, do we really want to try this place with hardly anyone inside and, for the couple of diners already eating inside, their food looked pretty good. So, what the heck....we decided to stay and try things out. So, we ordered the Fried Spring Rolls, Steamed Veggie Dumplings, a Pho Flank & Brisket Pho for the others, and a Vermicelli Chicken for me.....except with just salad and no vermicelli. Oh boy, where do I begin? The fried spring rolls were oily and the filling tasted very gamey/porky......not good. I was told the pho broth was salty and the meat kind of tough. The steamed dumpling's filling was kind of powdery/mushy....very unexpected. As for my basically grilled chicken salad, the salad was fine, kind of small portion, but the grilled chicken tasted cold and like it had been sitting out for many hours, instead of freshly grilled to order. Ok, so this was definitely a pretty disappointment experience for us as we had expected so much better.....especially at these very high prices!

The pho is very legit! Tasty broth, with the right ratio of noodles to broth. I ordered the flank & brisket pho which had perfectly thin slices of meat that's just the right amount of marbled fattiness. The fried spring rolls are excellent and come with lettuce wrappers. The grilled pork chop rice dish was good, but the meat arrived pre-sliced which was a bit anti-climactic, as I prefer the full chop(s) over rice. This is one of two pho restaurants in this neighborhood that I think are superior. Comparable to or better than many of the top pho joints in Chinatown. Besides pho and rice dishes, they also offer a variety of banh mi, tacos, vermicelli, and Vietnamese ice coffee & ice tea!

Went here for a regular lunch and to my surprise they did not have any lunch specials, so the price was slightly high i'd say which is the reason for the 4stars. Service was quick and food came out quick so no complaints there. I ordered some rice and fried catfish, I thought the portion was just enough and was satisfied with the taste of the fish. Broccoli , pickles, and tomato slices they served on the side wasn't my favorite but gave the plate volume. Overall an ok quick lunch

    Grilled Chicken Pho

I got the chicken Pho delivered and I liked how they put it in a bowl that you can eat it out of and also a generous portion. Overall it was ok but pretty bland, one of the least flavorful broths I've had and they didn't include Sriracha which would have helped, also didn't give jalapeños,. The chicken was pretty tough and bland I think from being overcooked but it was alright. Fast delivery from Seamless and overall a pretty good experience, I would consider trying it again.

The bowl of pho is massive (hand for scale)! This is the Flank & Brisket Pho!

This is the best pho you'll find in Turtle Bay! I've eaten at the restaurant and done take out numerous times and the broth always comes piping hot and delicious. The quality of the pho is consistent also, with delicious meat and chewy noodles! The spring rolls are also a favorite - always crispy even when we do take out! Take out is super fast, never taking more than 15 mins. Eating in is also nice. A simple and clean ambiance, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner! Pho Avenue is my go-to place for pho and I hope they are here to stay!

Stumbled upon this spot a few weeks again while walking through the neighborhood and made a mental note to check it out. Since then, I've been back twice! Solid, hearty beef broth that doesn't feel overloaded with MSG. The rare steak was good and tender, but the brisket was a tad dry/lean, but I prefer rare steak normally anyways. I also love that they gave me a side of sliced white onions with no hassle. If you know, you know! The summer rolls weren't great. They tasted pre made and refrigerated, but that's totally fine, doesn't affect my opinion of the Pho or restaurant overall! Worth dropping by if you're in the area and craving pho, but don't want to trek downtown. Will definitely be coming back!

Small spoon provided for take out
    Melody M.

I've dined in a handful of timewoth colleagues and the food and pho is delicious! This review is strictly for a minor annoyance... a small spoon they provide for take out orders! I want to be able to take the biggest slurp of broth to warm my soul. But because they only have a small dessert spoon, It'll take a million slurps to finish the broth. I can opt to take the big bowl to my mouth but will risk dropping the deliciousness everywhere. Hope they read this review and order soup spoons for take outs!

Service was friendly, food came over speedy fast, and the pho hit the spot. Very reasonable prices too.

Simple, fast, filling, tasty. Ordered flank and brisket pho ($16). I'm no pho connoisseur but I thought it was good. Decent amount of meat too. Not too noisy, no-fuss atmosphere. Great for single diners.

The food always arrives hot, is always well packaged and tasty. My personal go to is the SHAKING BEEF Bo Luc Lac Stir fried Angus steak cube) bun. It is served Served w. Side Salad & Nuoc Cham: (Romaine, Cucumber, Pickled Mustard, Grape Tomatoes, Carrots & Daikon). I appreciate the choice of Vermicelli rice noodle, Thai Jasmine rice or Solely Salad. I always choose rice and the packaging is amazing, the beef is kept seperate from the rice and arrives hot and aromatic. My mom also loves this dish but ordered it with the solely salad and opts for double veggies. We have also tried several of the bahn mini including the lemongrass chicken, the brisket and the braised short rib. All are tasty. I do recommend adding the dip for $1 as it really takes it to the next level! I ordered the lychee iced tea sweetened today. It was sweet but not too sweet which I appreciated and as with everything from 5ive spice very thoughtfully packaged in a way that there is no leaking in transit. 5ive spice has some great all day and happy hour specials, I look forward to trying their food in person when I am in the area. Customer service: One time, on a particularly busy weekend in NYC, I received the wrong bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the brisket bahn mi and received the lemongrass chicken. When I called 5ive Spice, I spoke to the manager John who was incredibly apologetic and explained it was a very busy night, without offering excuses. He offered a full refund and invited me to order again and call and he would include a complimentary bahn mi. For what it's worth, it was a very busy night in NYC, all of the restaurants we were trying to get take out or delivery from were quoting 2+ hours, and John handled the situation perfectly. The food we received was tasty and did arrive on time.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.
