Really fresh, delicious, straight lychee martini, $7!!! My new favorite place!! Great, friendly service; takes Google pay!

    Short rib pho

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came on a Monday night after work, wasn't too busy. Very cozy and comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered the short rib pho! The short rib came out on a separate plate and it was huge! It was so fatty, lean and well seasoned. The broth was rich, flavorful and piping hot! Highly recommend the short rib pho! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has bar seating with a full bar as well as booth seating, sushi area and a back area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll be back again.

UGH; where to begin? This was one of the few places close to the Kipps Bay movie theater so we decided to try it. We should have know better when a restaurant tries to do Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese on the same menu! There's no restaurant that can really perfect pan Asian cuisine. It's all so regionalized and specific. Everything we ordered were bland and textures were off. The servers were really nice so I can't knock the service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was what you'd expect; bland like the food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Delivered well, nothing spilled. Pho was good star anise flavor was a little too powerful but besides that good. Will be ordering from here again. Spring rolls was good as well.

this place is definitely not talked about enough! came here on a monday evening and weren't many other customers there, so service was extremely fast and friendly. the restaurant is tucked away in the middle of cross streets, but can definitely say I will be back. the pho itself was extremely flavorful, and I was surprised at how inexpensive this place was, considering I asked for extra meatballs in my dish! they had a wide variety of sushi entrees as well, so I would be interested in trying those as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]restaurant is dimly lit with a cozy atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    3 sushi roll lunch special
    Julie Ying X.

I came here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The have lunch specials on the last page which usually include salad, soup, or spring roll. My friend and I ordered the 3 roll (eel avocado, shrimp tempura, spicy salmon crunch) lunch special and the Ban Xao (stir fried noodles) with chicken. The food was fresh and the lunch deal is pretty good. I'll have to try the Vietnamese food next time.

We came here on a very cold night in early December on a whim. It was mostly empty but we also came in pretty late. WOW!!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food was amazing, the service was amazing and the restaurant is so cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had been out in the cold and walking around so we ordered a lot. The veggie egg rolls were delicious, they came out very hot. Then we had the sushi, one was a sweet potato roll and the other was a fish. I ordered the vegan pho and my partner had Pho Bo. We both loved our food and plan to visit again. This was some of the best pho we've ever had.

5 stars for the food, but I removed a star due to service. We were seated quickly and received our food at a reasonable speed, but I was really put off by the attitude of our server, Ashley. Maybe it was just an off day for her, but she was very curt with us and also told us there were no bean sprouts in the summer rolls when the menu said that there were and the summer rolls indeed came with bean sprouts (someone in our party has an allergy). The shrimp summer rolls were really good, some of the best I've had in the city (large size and had a lot of noodles). I liked my vegan pho dish as well (good amount of vegetables). Some folks at our table didn't think they had enough noodles in their pho, but I was good with my portion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is pretty spacious, and has a good amount of tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very clean as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    3 rolls takeout - yellowtail wasn't fresh :(
    Essie L.

Got takeout from this place because I wanted something quick but wasn't sure about a fusion kind of place with Vietnamese and Japanese food. Got 2 sets of rolls, I'd say the raw fish isn't that fresh, so I'd skip anything raw if I ever come back. The other rolls were okay.

Really quality, inexpensive Vietnamese food! Came in around 8 PM. I didn't realize before but they actually have a happy hour until 7 PM, which I'll try to make in the future. I ordered a chicken vermicelli for $17. I didn't expect so much chicken, and the skewers were super tender and juicy too. Going to come back to try their sushi as well!

The first time I came in here, I left as it looked like there were no workers to welcome me or have me sit. I was just standing around, and after a few minutes, I bounced from the restaurant. I decided to go back after a few months and give it another shot. The service wasn't good, but at least I was able to get seated. I did see a sign outside saying there's a lunch special. I didn't know what I wanted until I perused the menu overl. However, I looked at the pho section as that's what I really wanted. I wasn't that impressed with the pho. The noodles were all stuck together. The broth was good, and I liked how they gave you jalapeños without asking for it.

Amazing Vietnamese cuisine with generous portions perfect for sharing! The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The service was outstanding--attentive, kind, and efficient. The waitstaff took the time to explain each dish's ingredients with great patience. We will definitely be returning!"

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was nice, staff was very friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came for the pho and it hit just like we hoped. Perfect for the chilly weather and had nice deep herbal flavors. I also enjoyed the Thai iced tea, and the cha gio appetizer was a very interesting take on a spring roll. Would definitely recommend stopping by!

Their bahn mi was not good; not authentic; on italian bread - not a baguette - just not good. The spring rolls, however, were very good.

To drink, I had a Hot Organic Super Matcha Tea for 4.95. It was alright tea, and I wish teas were included in the price point, as otherwise, this place feels pretty traditional. In terms of food, I only ordered from the seasonal menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of the dishes are, but from what I had, I would go back for a light traditional meal. My appetizer was the Dashimaki Tamago/だし巻まき卵たま, or sweet savory omelet with daikon for $6.98. This came with three pieces along with a little dollop of grated radish. The pieces had a light sweetness to them along with a bit of savoriness. They were juicy and a bit bouncy while maintaining some softness. This was standard and good. My main dish was the $19.98 Beef Tan Tan Udon, or ground sirloin beef, spicy broth, baby bok choy, kikurage mushroom, scallions, and sesame seeds. While I have preferred udon from spots like Raku, the udon had a mild chew to it, and they were still good. The broth had a mix of sweetness and spiciness with a nice depth of flavor. The vegetables inside tasted fresh, and the meat added some richness. This was good as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here, but the food was good. If you're in the area and looking for no frills Japanese dining in a more comfortable atmosphere at pretty decent Midtown East prices, I would recommend this place.

Very cozy restaurant and the staff were attentive and friendly. Luckily their service is very fast so my family and I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes for a table in the back. I really enjoyed their niku udon. The broth was flavorful but not too salty. The menu offered a variety of options, all reasonably priced between $10-20, ensuring great value for the quality provided. I would come back to Tensai for some comforting Japanese udon noodles!
