Everything here is great service, food & ambiance. Super affordable too! Will go there again and again.

PacRim sushi restaurant near the UN

Delicious sushi! After researching several sushi restaurants online, I decided to try PacRim. Located on East 49th street, it's very convenient to the United Nations and practically around the corner from Japan Society. Also, there's another Japanese restaurant located on the same block. Whereas the neighboring restaurants have large open windows with customers in full view of the street, PacRim has a recessed private intimate interior seating area. It also offers a 40$ lunch omakase (as of June 2023) as well as other smaller lunch specials (see photo). I expected high quality & small portions. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality and good portion size. The spicy Yellowtail handroll is one of the best I've had in NYC. The service was excellent too. The sushi nori wasn't super crispy but still delicious. Plan to return for more!

Husband found this place on Yelp since I've been hankering for sushi since I gave birth. Really did not disappoint and it's a super solid place - I ordered the lunch Omakase priced at $40. I did not regret - it was the right amount of food and great way to start eating sushi again. The roll wasn't too rich for me and I enjoyed the sashimi. Will definitely come back if I'm in the neighborhood. Service was good - got our order and food taken in a timely manner and it seems to have a steady flow of people since we dined here during lunch hour. Was able to talk to my husband if needed and mostly chill environment.

Sushi was high quality for the price ($26 for a sashimi platter). I was surprised the restaurant was pretty empty because it had a very nice ambience and good service. Ample space inside and can accommodate a large group.

Worst sushi I've tried in NYC by far. Fish tasted rotten and was grey in color and the miso barely tasted like anything, it tasted like hot water with a hint of chicken broth.

Pac Rim is our local sushi restaurant. The sushi is some of the best sushi we've had, compatible to Catch and Sugar Fish. The staff is wonderfully kind, knowledgeable and attentive. The drinks are good too (my favorite, the plum wine). The atmosphere is cozy, warm and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Food was very good and the staff was extremely friendly and attentative. A great new additiin to the neighborhood. Easily able to support a partt of 8 or 10 at long table. Interessting combo of deserts including a nice Halo Halo ice cream and fried banana.

Maggie is the best front end person ever! Friendly and efficient. The general Tao $8 takeout bowl is substantial and a great value!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

I love how the flavors mix so well together, I felt like I was in heaven! the service was amazing, like the never left my water cup empty!!! (props to them) the ambiance inside was also super calm and vibey. overall, I had such an amazing time and I would love to go again soon

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

The cucumber salad was also very good and flavorful. karaage was just okay and can be skipped. The corn dessert was really cool and the ube tiramisu really had the yam flavor. This is a bit…read moreof a belated review, but I'm glad to see that the standout dishes from my winter visit are still featured on their summer menu. 3 of us shared a few orders of their tenderloin ($18) and pork loin ($20) katsu, eggplant agebitashi ($18), sabazushi ($22), truffle rice, and niku udon ($24). The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.
