Chicken Teriyaki
Dzifa A.

Food/Drinks: 5/5 We stumbled upon this restaurant on a random weekday after work. Their sign advertised a happy hour that was past 6 pm and we were sold! Thee $$$ on yelp had me shook for a minute but everything is decently priced. It felt more like $$. Happy Hour is only on the beer and sake but it didn't disappoint. The cocktails were normal price and the lychee martinis is absolutely delicious! The presentation was also super cute - he shook up the drink and poured it out infant of us. My partner and I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and 3 sets of rolls: set of Philly Rolls, California rolls, and Avocado Rolls. Each roll came in a tray of 6 small rolls but it was surprinsingly filling. Service: 3/5 We were greeted and welcomed into thee restaurant promptly. Our server answered all of our questions and presented everything nicely. Everything was great but it seemed like after we got our food, all of the wait staff disappeared. Eventually, they came back and we are able to get the check. Vibe: 4/5 Upon walking in there was only 1 other group seated, which contrary to popular belief was not SUS! A few more groups came in after we were seated. This is a great place for groups or also a small part of 2 or solo dining. There are these cute nooks that are slightly hidden in the wall like a cubby. We sat here and it felt like a private dinner. The interior is equipped with beautiful traditional Japanese seating and typical American seating.

Came here with a party of 4 on a weekday night and the place wasn't crowded at all so it was nice that it was on the quieter side. All the food we got is shown here and the sashimi definitely tasted great. The salmon and chicken teriyaki were alright and the appetizers were pretty good. The service was great as our server came back to check in and fill our waters at just the right times. Definitely recommend if you're looking for tasty sashimi and a la carte sashimi options.

Last minute search for sushi spot that's open on Monday brought us to Sushi Sen-nin. The large open room is decorated with large banners with fishing scenes. No one was sitting at the large sushi bar. We had a table that was separated from the adjoining table with a wooden screen. We were glad the guy left within minutes of our sitting down. We each had a Chirashi bowl. Each negiri had a topping of different spice levels. I took them off to enjoy the taste of the fish. I'd order no toppings next time. The fish quality was very good.

I found Sushi Sen-Nin by walking across the street from my hotel (Hilton). They have an outdoor seating option on the street which is covered but I chose to sit inside. I'm dining alone and it felt comfortable eating at a table for two where I can check everyone out and what they're ordering! I first ordered Black Cod Misozaki (marinated in Miso & lightly grilled (I think). It was delicious and prepared with delicately sliced avocado and ikura eggs (salmon roe). Highly recommend as an appetizer. Then I ordered Ikura and Uni sushi (waiter said it was from California). Of course it was also delicious and tasty! I had it all with a glass of Pino Gris

Ordered takeout from here as part of the covid version of restaurant week, and it was great! Every part of the sushi bento box was delicious, except maybe the plastic tray. I especially liked the gyoza, really flavorful and a nice warm contrast to the other cold dishes. The nigiri was also excellent, with interesting toppings for each type of fish. Definitely recommend this place!

Solid family-owned sushi spot in Midtown (especially if you have a group!) I know everyone's in love with east village and wants to go to tiny izakaya counter bars, but, if you want some solid sake options and good fish, this is your midtown go to. Their unassuming front door opens up into a rather large and spacious interior, and there's well-made outside seating for open air dining if you're still worried about COVID stuff. If you've ever been to Japan, the interior may be a fun throwback. Sen-nin's menu runs from fun creative items like the fish tacos (my recommendation is the spicy tuna- not too spicy, and you do not need to dip in soy sauce. Consume as is, and enjoy the finely chopped fish and crunchy taco), to classic hand pressed nigiri sushi we all know, to some lesser known but equally classic Japanese rolls, like the kanpyo, a sort of marinated gourd. Simple but nostalgic, for many. My guilty pleasure is their oyster shot (shooter?) , and when they have it, the uni. The brinyness of the seafood with the delicate sweetness of the sake is...decadent. Take a deep breath, slurp it all in one go. Don't knock it til you try it ;) There are other fun Japanese flavor-inspired cocktails if oyster isn't your thing. Service may not be *the* fastest but it's always friendly and with a smile. Take your time, enjoy your sushi and your company.

This is one of my friends favorite restaurants. He's been insisting I come here for over a year. Last night I finally dropped by and was glad I did. It is a bit of a different vibe from other omakase centric sushi restaurants in New York but is delicious. The roles are gigantic, my girlfriend and I split an appetizer and three roles and were full. The service is great, very good neighborhood spot Seemed to be a lot of dates going on here, one girl next to us told her date she was about to get liposuction.

We came here for lunch and I ordered chicken teriyaki but the food was just okay compared with its price. The complimentary chocolate was the only good point during my lunch here. Overall, I won't come back again if there is no special discount.

It seems an impossible task to find a good sushi restaurant near my hotel in New York City. Came in due to the great reviews and found what looked like a Chinese restaurant serving low-quality Japanese food. Sashimi deluxe with crab and toro and hamachi roll all were horrible. Think of leftover Sushi pieces put on your plate double the price and you get their sushi. Not only were the portions small the cuts were uneven and the sushi wasn't fresh but the service was awful as well. There were hardly any customers and I wonder why LOL. OMG skip this place. The bill was around $70 with tax and tip. Super rip off.

The place was so quiet, which is nice to find in midtown, but it could feel uncomfortable. The huge colorful decorations on the wall are pretty to look at, but feel so out of place and a tad gaudy. I have mixed feelings about the ambiance. They do have these little nooks on the side of the restaurant that you can sit in with one other person in complete privacy, so that's a very cool and unusual aspect that I dug. There's a $20 minimum per person, which is so unpleasant. Why can't you just get what you want? This left me with a bad taste in my mouth. In terms of food, there were hits and misses. Edamame - unsalted and a big portion! I loved. Baked mussels appetizer - didn't like at all. The actual mussel was good, but the toppings made it goopy and gross. Why so much mayo on something so naturally raw and delicious? Eel sashimi - perhaps the best piece of eel I've had lately. Salmon sashimi - fresh and melts in your mouth, but each piece was so small for the price. I wouldn't recommend and I won't be returning. The prices are not worth the size, and the vibe is just weird, not the mention that awful rule.

Royal Sennin Roll

This sushi roll features spicy tuna and a crunchy core, wrapped in avocado and garnished with four colorful fish eggs, creating a visually appealing and tasty treat.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent! I received a friendly greeting and was seated right away. My waiter was amazing as he mentioned the day's specials. I decided that I wanted to order the Kamaya (bamboo-infused) sake first, then I ordered my miso soup. The soup hit the spot! I tipped my bowl to get the last few drops. I then ordered the first round of sushi, which was the Philadelphia roll and then the yellowtail roll. I then ordered the squid tempura roll along with a bottle of Asahi beer. Everything was delicious! I will be back soon to try the shrimp tempura and the tempura ebi tacos. Can't wait!

Ask the Community - Sushi Sen-nin

Do you still have the tuna carpaccio with crispy panko and spicy mayo?

Hi John! Yes we do! We however are closed from 12/23-12/25 in observance of the holiday season (also will be closed lunch on 01/01/25). We hope to see you soon!!

Do they offer a lunch special?

Yes there is a lunch special. I took a picture of the menu when I last visited. The photo is attached to my restaurant review. Check it out because there are plenty of items to choose from. Enjoy!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.
