The food was delicious! If you're paying by card, you order through a QR code. I wasn't a big fan of this setup because you don't really have a server readily available to ask questions or get recommendations from. My biggest issue was the dining environment. It was about 92°F outside and there was no AC. They did have a couple of fans running to help with the heat, but unfortunately, they weren't enough. The restaurant has an open-kitchen concept, which is nice because you can see the kitchen, but you can also feel the heat coming from it. With the front door left open, the summer heat was coming in as well, making it extremely hot inside. There were also quite a few flies circling around, which I'm assuming was partly due to the door being left open. That made the dining experience less comfortable, especially while eating. I would've given 5 stars for the food because it was delicious, but the heat, flies, and overall dining environment really took away from the experience. The flavor here is really good. This is coming from a family that resides in Orange County, CA. For those who are unaware, there is a big Vietnamese presence here. With that said, we have picky eaters when it comes to Viet flavors. Love their cucumber lemonade. Pairs well with the charred meats. Mango and papaya salad was also a nice punch of flavors. Grilled Pork Chops and Shrimp delivered. Fried Spring Rolls could have been a bit crispier. Perhaps a different wrap or cooked a bit longer? Flavor, however, was good. A nice relatively inexpensive dinner with friends. There were three of us. Two ordered the Saigon Pho and one the Vegetarian Pho. We found the Saigon Pho flavorful with a decent amount of noodles and protein. The Vegetarian one also had a lot of veggies and more of a vegetable broth flavor (which makes sense) that was less flavorful than the beef broth. We felt they didn't give enough sprouts for three bowls, but I assume people don't even eat what's put on the table, and I'm we could've asked for more if we wanted it. Service was a little scattered because it was a busy and prime dinner time but everyone was nice. There was a wait but they were able to accommodate us and put us outside because we had a dog. There aren't many tables outside only 4 two tops and 1 one top. While this neighborhood has an abundance of appealing eating options, after noticing the numerous (approaching 3,000) reviews on Yelp, I decided to mosey over to Saigon Shack for food needs. Since it was closing in under an hour, Saigon Shack wasn't too packed but there were still people dining in and coming in. And cilantro but I elected to remove it. You also have your choice of spicy or non-spicy. They use a soy glaze for the chop, and I thought I detected some ginger in the glaze as well. Although the food is good, the inconsistency in their service make it difficult to continue ordering here. I thought I would give it a try again tonight and can see that things haven't changed.
