I love a matcha shop!!! Super packed but quick service. Saw some people doing work and some chatting with friends. There appears to be outlets and free WiFi. They have classic matcha lattes and great fruity flavor combinations and seems very authentic!
Went in with high expectations, but it was just alright. The staff was friendly and made our drinks pretty quick. The interior was cute, perfect for working or catching up with a friend. The azuki matcha was a dud. It was missing the earthiness and sweetness of the azuki bean. Instead, it just tasted like chunky matcha. The black sesame latte was sweeter than expected. It was still pretty good, but I just feel like I would've gotten sick had I finished the whole thing. I would probably just try the strawberry matcha latte next time.
Friend recommended this place! I ordered the strawberry matcha, bc staff said that was a must try/ most popular, and friend ordered the hojicha latte. I haven't had enough strawberry matchas in my life, but this was indeed a very delicious strawberry matcha. The matcha flavor is there and the strawberry jam is sweet and not overly thick. I think the drink itself was rlly good, but ive def had stronger matchas. I took a sip of the hojicha and it was also rlly good and refreshing. You can def taste the hojicha flavor! The store is quite small and can get super packed and busy, but there are some seats to sit at! Staff were super friendly!! If it's within vicinity of wherever im at, id def stop to get a drink again.
RATING: 4.5/5 | Came on a Saturday late afternoon and it was busy! The line moves, thankfully. It's relatively spacious for a cafe, but there's minimal seating. There is some counter space, but mainly for standing purposes. I ordered a standard Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk ($7.35) and my friend got her usual Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte ($8). Docking 1/2 point bc the matcha is pre-made. I'm a fan of the whisking process bc I do believe there's a craft to matcha overall. Surprisingly, my drink tasted fine and my bev was a good color, so I was pleasantly happy. We waited less than 10 min for a table to open up, but you have to be there at the right time, otherwise you prob just grab your drink + go. Overall, glad I tried Kijitora. It's not my first matcha choice, but it was decent for a standard matcha latte. Their specialty matcha drinks look to have mixed reviews, but I'm personally not a fan of sweet drinks.
I came here today to experience local matcha from Kijitora, a local matcha place that was all about cats! Everything was cat They had a lot of merchandise dedicated to cats! The tote bags were so cute but they were kind of pricey in my opinion. A standard beige Kijitora bag was priced for $30 each! They had several designs for sale. I was just busy checking out the cool cat merchandise while I was waiting in the long line to purchase the matcha drinks. The line was exceptionally long! It was worth the hype though! When I was my turn, I got an iced strawberry matcha latte and an iced mango matcha latte. It was so pretty when I got them. The mango and strawberry paste were sitting at the bottom of the matcha latte. I had to stir and mix the fruits with the whole drink. Surprisingly it was not sweet at all and was just right! They made it in a way that wanted you to crave more of it. It was very addicting. I did not get onigiris this time but will be sure to get some next time I'm here. They were just $4 each for miso salmon, tuna mayo, mentaiko cod roe, sukiyaki beef, and chashu pork. What a decent price for one onigiri! I would definitely be sure to get the miso salmon next time I'm here. The place was very cute with nice little tables for individuals. The place was very cozy with lots of sunlight coming in. Very modern with plants all around. It was so loud with people talking over each other. There were too many people on a Sunday afternoon so I had to walk around or cut through people to get my way. It was that crowded. I also didn't expect this place to be on the second floor and the stairs to be that steep. It was hectic carrying my stroller upstairs. Luckily someone helped me get down! The stairs are very narrow so I had to hold onto the rail. It was not ergonomically friendly at all.
Very yummy matcha. Store is super small though. And it's kind of disorganized in there when you wait for your order. Wish they would just call out the numbers on the receipt they give you. Matcha was pretty good but was not amazing.
Stumbled onto this café while walking around the neighborhood with my wife. At 3 in the afternoon, on a Saturday- it was packed. The line is what drew our curiosity. It was rather warm today, so an Iced anything sounded great. The café is tucked away in the middle of the block. The line moves fast and the staff is efficient pumping our orders without having the cafe get overly crowded. I got the iced strawberry match latte. The strawberry was a nice sweetener to the match. It blended well with the earthyness of the match. The latter was overall a nice refreshing drink. Dont expect to sit. Go in, know what you want, and keep it moving. On the day like today, with the crowd, you can't expect to peruse though the little café. They had some cute cat merch. As I glanced quickly while people piled up behind me before I made my order.
10/10 best match i had in NYC! There was so much strawberry and it was sweet and fresh, i loved it!
Really cute cafe! The baristas were super sweet and quick to make the drinks. I ordered an iced strawberry matcha with soy milk (i believe they have almond, oat, and soy as alt. milks), and 2 black pour over coffees. The matcha was so flavorful and not overly sweet. So creamy and such a nice fresh strawberry purée was used at the bottom of the cup. The pour over coffee had such a robust flavor without being too bitter. Definitely one of my favorite roasts i've tried. I'll be back to try the Kuwacha Latte.
Are you serious this store is sooo freaking cute. Their matcha drinks are sooo good I really love the red bean with matcha ( it was so rich and yummy whoever thought of this is a genius) get a drink here and walk around the cute neighborhood
Store was packed when I arrived, it was on a Saturday around 3:30pm-ish. There were a bench and couple of tables and chairs. I ordered iced azuki red bean matcha latte with oat milk. The top of the drink was pretty cute! Honestly, I couldn't really taste the matcha because the taste was over powered by the red bean. Overall the drink is not bad if you like red bean! We were hoping to sit down a bit to enjoy the drink for a while but all the seats were already occupied. We were almost finished with our drinks by the time we got seats. Right now they have a hello kitty collab, they also sell stickers, mini blind boxes figures and other merch.
Very small but very cute coffee and matcha shop, tucked away in a spot that's easy to walk past if you're not looking for it. What I loved right away was that they sell fun merchandise like stickers and also feature work from local artists. It makes the place feel more community-driven, and you get the sense that it's about more than just drinks. I went on a gloomy morning and ordered an iced matcha latte with vanilla and whole milk, while my friend ordered an iced strawberry matcha latte with oat milk. Both drinks looked beautiful -- the colors were vibrant and layered, and visually they definitely gave the impression of high-quality matcha. Unfortunately, taste-wise, we were both underwhelmed. My drink tasted mostly like vanilla milk with no noticeable matcha flavor coming through. My friend's drink was the same situation -- it was basically strawberry milk. Now, in the bigger picture, that's not a bad flavor to drink, but when you're specifically ordering matcha lattes, you expect the matcha to be the star. It's possible other drinks on the menu might deliver better balance, but at least for these two, it missed the mark. Even so, I do like that this shop is small, local, and creative with their café space. Supporting local businesses -- especially ones that support artists -- is always a plus in my book. I'd come back to browse their merchandise or maybe try a different drink, but I wouldn't get another matcha here.
Really good quality matcha! There was quite a line when we arrived at Kijitora on the weekend, but it moved rather quickly. The matcha here is amazing and top tier quality. I ordered a Matcha Latte with oatmilk, unsweetened. I definitely should've opted for a sweetener because that's my personal preference, but even without it, the matcha was really good. If I could go back, I'd probably order the Strawberry Matcha Latte instead. I also tried the Dirty Black Sesame Latte with white chocolate which was fantastic! And I tried the Miso Mocha which was not so great. In theory, this drink sounded so good. Unfortunately, the drink was not balanced and the miso was so strong that the drink tasted way too savory. If the balance was better and the drink had more mocha and sweetness (and much less miso), I think this could've been way more enjoyable. My friend described it as drinking cold miso soup. Two hits and one miss! Overall, really good matcha.

Yummy matcha drink! When you walk in you are in a cozy whimsical cafe with cafe inspired interior. There's some seating available , perfect for catching up with friends. Even though they are known for their matcha drinks, I decided to get their seasonal drink instead: Matcha Peach Fizz. Not too bubbly nor sour , there is a good amount of matcha and a touch of peach with every sip. Quick service even though it is busy af. read more

I came on a Saturday morning it was very busy. The line moves quickly. I got the iced mango matcha latte and after tax, it came out to $8.44 after tax. Add in tip and it becomes $10 which is steep for a matcha. The mango flavor was nice but overpowered the matcha, leaving not much matcha taste in the drink. The matcha is pre-batched which is disappointing, but seems to be common at matcha places in NYC. They do get the drinks out pretty quickly. The matcha tasted fine, but you have to mix well. There is a little seating available but it gets pretty crowded - definitely more of a to-go place. read more

Stopped in on a weekday morning and there was no wait. I got an iced dirty black sesame latte - it was a little too sweet with the white chocolate, so would get without it next time, but otherwise loved it. Would also try the hojicha latte! read more
Small spot (they have a second location deeper in Williamsburg that I believe is bigger!) no where to sit inside & a bench outside so it's a perf spot to grab & walk around to shop. Great matcha - love a place with speciality options and they had them for matcha and espresso. I got a strawberry matcha latte but asked for them to swap the milk with tonic water, it was refreshing!! My partner got the tiramisu latte & loved it. We both wanna go back to try more of the menu! They were super busy but got through the line quickly. read more

After multiple failed attempts of finding a good matcha spot, kijitora really hit the spot! I ordered the strawberry matcha oat milk and it had the perfect amount of sweetness with the strawberry puree/syrup. My only complaint is it was almost $10 before tips for this drink because milk substitute cost $1 read more
Best matcha latte I've had in a long while. This place was been recommended to me by a few people and it lived up to its expectations! My friends and I got the Matcha latte and the Tiramisu Latte. I was able to try my friend's coffee and it was pretty good as well. The matcha had a lot of depth and flavor to it compared to many places I've been to. Hands down probably the best matcha I've had in awhile. The interior was very intentional and definitely added a lot to the cute cozy vibe. The baristas were very welcoming and were quick to make our orders (despite it being a semi-busy). I highly recommend! read more

My ideal, perfect matcha!!!! I think this hands down is my 10/10 matcha. Creamy, but not too milky. Strong matcha, but not too bitter. It was smooth, no clumps on the bottom. I got just a regular iced matcha and I wouldn't change a thing. Notable mention to the strawberry matcha which was also a wonderful choice as well and not too sweet or artificial. I love the ambiance, this location was a little on the smaller side but I loved the stationary and things they had to offer for sale. The service was quick but since it was a small location and a wave of people the baristas did seem a little annoyed, understandable. Overall, still thinking about this matcha. Wish I was closer. read more
This place is located in such a beautiful neighborhood. We had the iced matcha latte and the iced hojicha latte. The hojicha latte was perfect and the matcha latte was good as well. My only critique is that the matcha latte was a bit more milky than I expected from a place like this. Nonetheless the staff were super nice and I'd come back here when I'm in town. read more
I loved this place!!! It was so small on the inside but had delicious matcha! I normally don't like my matcha sweetened but I got the strawberry and it wasn't too sweet at all. I loved it and can't wait to come back here! read more

Saw that this place was a popular matcha spot. Really good matcha latte, not too strong - a good balance. Space inside is small so there's really only room to order and maybe wait inside for your order if it's not busy. I went Sunday afternoon and line was short and quick. Would recommend coming here. read more
Saw the great reviews in this place so had to give it a visit when we were in the area. Service was fast-- we waited around 10 minutes in line to get in. Ambiance is very casual-- no seating area, so it's mostly a take-out establishment. - Strawberry matcha: 100/10 (Omg the strawberry matcha here is amazingggg! Strong matcha flavor, sweet strawberry sauce, creamy oat milk = yes plzzzz) read more

I simply had to return for a second black sesame latte. The richness and depth of flavor made this an absolutely delicious drink. Plus the way the cute tiny cat comes on the serving tray - so cute! There are other cat themed items inside, which contribute to making the place feel cozy and amicable. Definitely stop by here for their lattes!! read more
wanted to love kijitora because of all the hype but I think I like it at best. I came on a sunday around 4:36pm and only waited in line for 10mins so that was nice. I was disappointed to see that the matcha was pre-made, and it manifested in slight graininess in the final drink. opting for oat milk ($0.75) on top of the iced strawberry matcha latte ($7.75) brought the total to $8.50 pre-tax, which was definitely painful since I downed the drink in a couple of minutes nevertheless, I appreciate that the strawberry syrup wasn't too sweet so I could taste the matcha. read more

very average drink. couldn't really taste the matcha so i couldn't distinguish if it was good or not. matcha is pre-batched. there is also no seating inside. they also charge for stickers that's crazy to me read more
Blink and you might miss this cafe! It was on the top of my matcha list in NY. First of all, the matcha is soooo good and the presentation is definitely super cute. I also bought stickers, matcha and a mini hydroflask to take home! I would definitely come back to try more types of matcha, as they had limited-time specialties. The drinks came out super quickly and were drank just as quickly. read more
Came in and asked for a latte that was sweet and didnt taste too milky. Asian lady recommended a Dirty Black Sesame Latte with White Chocolate. I got this with Oat milk and it hit all the marks. I could definitely taste the Black Sesame. The latte was smooth, rich, and sweet without being too milky. Highly recommend. Shop was small with no seating. Asian lady was friendly. White assistant not so much. read more

Guys. This is not my first review for Kijitora and it is simply because it's so freaking good!! The lattes never disappoint. And the two baristas there were so kind- honestly the employees always are!
