I genuinely love Devoción's coffee and atmosphere, which is why I decided to give it another chance after almost a year away. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. This place has become more of an internet café than a coffee shop. People rush in early in the morning, claim tables and chairs with their laptops, and stay for hours. As a result, there's often no seating left for actual customers who simply want to enjoy a coffee, meet a friend, or spend a little time in the space. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What makes it even more frustrating is that some people working on their laptops visibly show annoyance when others are talking nearby, rolling their eyes, sighing, and making "huffing and puffing" noises, as if regular conversation in a coffee shop is an inconvenience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That shouldn't be normalized. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Coffee shops are, first and foremost, social spaces where people gather and connect, not full-time coworking offices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If management wants to accommodate both groups, perhaps the square seating area in the center could be designated as a first-come, first-served laptop section.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But regardless, something needs to change and the purpose of the space needs to be reconsidered. Very nice coffee shop. We stopped by on a very hot afternoon as we had dinner at 6:30. Everyone grabbed some type of cold coffee. I had the special with passionfruit, it was awesome. My parents and I were aimlessly wandering on the Williamsburg riverwalk, appreciating the New York City skyline like you only can when you have a visitor in town. Sometimes I need a reminder that I have spent my mid 20s in the most electric city in the world. As we were taking it all in, I saw at least 4 different people walking by with Devocion coffee cups and made a mental note that I need to try that place. So 5 minutes later when my Mom suggested we should stop for a coffee, I was locked and loaded with a suggestion. We made the short walk to Devocion and entered what looked like a former industrial building that had been converted to a coffee shop. We walked down the elongated hallway and entered a space that felt like a movie set in the best way possible: A wall full of living plants slowly climbing onto the ceiling, 2 inviting worn in couches in the center, rustic tables and chairs scattered around the space, vintage light fixtures, and natural light FLOODING in from a huge skylight overhead. Whoever designed this deserves some kind of award. I felt the spiritual connection of being outside while having the comfort of being inside, and that's exactly what I'm looking for while being in a coffee shop. My coffee was great, but I always just get an iced americano so it's rare I dislike a coffee if we are being honest. My parents got their little boujee oatmilk vanilla lattes and were raving about them. As we were getting set to leave, it started dumping rain so we sat in here for an extra 20 minutes until it passed. Watching rain violently pour down on a big skylight is a spiritual experience. Williamsburg is also a great place to people watch. Gotta love the eclectic patrons of the Burg. I'll be back in here to post up and crank out some reviews one of these days. Devocion is a must visit if you're in Brooklyn. I got the pour over and it was very good. My only criticism is how long we had to wait. It's a cold pressed drink made from the coffee cherry fruit, not the bean. It's naturally sweet (no added sugars) and so so refreshing. Tastes like drinking a cold cherry soda! I came by for an afternoon coffee and opted to try the sparkling cascara which is similar to a sparkling ice coffee but with cascara (a coffee cherry tea made from the dried skin of the coffee plant). There is a unique almost medicinal taste to the cascara which I really enjoy. Definitely something unique to Devocion to try! read more

Devoción in Brooklyn was my work-from-home escape during COVID, and it's still one of my favorite coffee spots in the city. Their cappuccino is rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced, and the guava and cream cheese croissant is pure pastry perfection -- flaky, buttery, and tangy-sweet. I loved that it was just steps from Domino Park, so I could take a coffee break with a gorgeous view. The bright, airy space and buzzing energy made it easy to settle in and get work done for hours. Truly a gem for both productivity and indulgence. I miss this place a lot and can't wait to be back when I visit NYC! read more

For some reason, I never got to visit Devocion's cafe's back when we were living in NY but I did read and hear about the great coffee they've been roasting. So when I spent some time in Williamsburg last year, I made sure to check it out. Almost a decade after it first opened its Williamsburg store, this café/roaster from Bogota still gets long queues out the door. And I must say, the coffee is worth the wait and the price! Devoción, I am devoted to you. This place consistently has amazing coffee, and that's because it's roasted here! They're committed to hand-picking beans from Columbia and having the coffee served to you within 10 days--which is unheard of for most coffee shops in the US. And to top it all off, the ambiance of this location is beautiful with skylights, leather couches and plants everywhere. I also appreciate how diverse the crowd is. It's not your typical hipster coffee joint (cough cough Sey), but a place where lots of different kinds of folks come together that really appreciate the coffee. Cute coffee shop with an outside vibe but inside. There were several tables and chairs and couches and umbrellas which is a super cool. I ordered a macchiato not knowing that it's an espresso shot. I was in the mood for a macchiato thinking it's the same as a caramel macchiato from Starbucks but no, this was only espresso. The prices are pretty generous but the quality and flavor of the espresso shot was phenomenal. It was super rich and strong. My favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. All the roasting of the beans is done on site within 7 days of being picked in Colombia. Definitely one of the best places in the city. Seasonal cold brew 9.78/10- pink borbon variety that was very floral with notes of blood orange, rose water, and basil. This cold brew was so complex and suprisingly the different unique notes all tasted quite well with each other. The coffee beans are made on site too and the drink is not watered down at all. They offer several options and their seasonal options are very unique too. They offer alternate milks (almond and oat, as well as pistachio which I've never seen before) but I was recommended to try it and it was pretty good, it was creamy like oat with a slightly rich flavor, but you can definitely taste the pistachio unlike almond. Gabe's recommendation so I already knew it would be fire I absolutely love this place. The space inside is lovely whether you want to work or socialize, and it's very open and unique. I wish I can give this place a zero. The service is absolutely horrific. My 3 year old child was waiting online for the bathroom for 15 mins, we ask the staff to use the other restroom they said no. Finally when the person got out of the restroom and it was my son's turn, they went in for "cleaning" we had to argue with them explaining my 3 year old child will pee on their floor.
