I can't speak on their coffee as I don't drink it but the shop was buzzing with busy bees ordering drinks that sounded creative so I like that they seem to offer some signature drinks! I do drink tea so the fairly extensive menu of loose leafs and tea lattes (no to matcha, yes to turmeric honey) was a welcome surprise. Store is pretty spacious with lots of nooks and tables to hang out or get work done in. A large, tempting display case of American and Chinese baked goods is near the counter. Ordered a warmed up banana bread slice and an iced hibiscus tea. Tea was really refreshing, bread was standard but paired well alongside the former. Ok so I stopped by originally bc they had Oscar Wilder's art on display for a few weeks and it was fun to check out throughout the store. Re-discovering Land to Sea (came here when they first opened and glad that they've stuck around and have been successful over the years!) and really addicted to their black sesame cold foam topping (+$2). A local coffee shop that has the community on its back, hosting local art exhibitions, pop-up bake sales, workshops, film screenings, etc. I'll be honest though. I'm not the moral authority on how good the actual coffee is. My order is just a black cold brew or americano.... tough to mess that up. BUT, I am the moral authority on a vibe check. Land to Sea CLEARS the vibe check. No corporate company driven by profits could curate this vibe. No amount of money could. It's straight from the soul. You can tell every chair, table, coffee mug, light fixture, and art piece that hangs on the wall has been hand picked. You might think I'm fufu or crazy, but in certain spaces I just feel so creative and free to express myself. Right when I walked in here I'm like "OH YEAH. I FEEL FLOWY!" Gotta stay flowy... Land to Sea is founded and operated by 2 daughters of immigrants who are first time business owners. I love this for a few reasons: A) I LOVE seeing young people start/run businesses. It's inspiring. They got me over here thinking what do I want to do that I'm not doing. No excuse, just produce. B) This is pure speculation, but I imagine their parents immigrated to the US to give their children the opportunity to do something EXACTLY like this. Their parents must be so proud. I finally got around to coming here and I'm glad I made the trek! Their specialty drinks are really fun, and their Chinese pastries are tempting (they're just a lot more expensive than if you got them in Chinatown so I decided to pass on them). I got an oatmilk latte with corn cream on top, which was really good - the corn flavor was subtle but it came through and there were bits of corn pulp in the drink. The cafe is also a great place to work - a few tables outside, along with ample seating near the register and in the back room (it's just a bit darker back there in case you're looking for sunlight). It's surprising how busy these places get but I see why! This place repetitively came up as a must-stop-at place while doing my little research on cute cafes in Brooklyn. I'm a bigggg fan of taking a classic coffee drink and adding flavors from my childhood to it... which is exactly what this place does! Red bean latte and cold brew w/ black sesame foam are the two that I tried and would recommend both if you're looking to expand your taste buds and try something new. The cold brew with sesame foam is subtle but black sesame normally is nutty and creamy (minus the peanut allergy concerns) so it adds an extra oof to it without going overboard. I was nervous about the red bean latte because most red bean drinks I get, the red bean is like refried bean consistency and I am not a fan of that. However, this red bean latte is delicious! nice chill spot to grab some unique drinks and sit :) I've been here a couple times on the weekdays and it's never been too crowded, making it a great spot to study/do work (though not sure about the outlet situation). I'd say the drinks/food aren't life changing, but the uniqueness/vibes of the place are what bring me back. My most recent visit I had the cold brew and added black sesame cold foam. I was expecting the cold foam to be sweet but surprisingly it wasn't at all (which was good for me), the black sesame flavoring was way too subtle though and my drink ended up just tasting like a creamy iced coffee (which wasn't bad tho!) I tried the HK Arnold Palmer, it tasted like a sweet iced tea. They have pastries which arent too much more than what you would pay for at a Chinese bakery. There's also a restroom in the back. They have interesting drinks and the interior is nicely decorated. The pastries were what you would typically find at Asian bakeries but it's a bit smaller here and slightly pricier than in Chinatown. I think what ruined the experience was when we accidentally spilled a drink, the staff didn't offer to make another one but she was quick to clean it up. She was professional with the attitude but there weren't much friendly attitude to make us feel better about the situation. It was spilled all over someone's lap! For that reason, the service is bare minimum. It could be that she was busy and didn't really want to handle that at the moment which is understandable. I guess I'm not sure what to expect in situation like that, I don't expect them to make another drink but it would have been a very nice gesture and good service if they offered to remake the drink, considering the drink was basically untouched. I wish the Bo lo bao had more butter spreader across the whole surface of the bun inside of a tiny area like it's a filling. The tradition way to serve bo lo bao at a cafe is to put butter in the middle. Ham and onion bread is what you'd typically get at an Asian bakery so it was good. Didn't get to try the espresso mint julip bc it was spilled. $7 down the drain :( Lavender pea flower matcha was subtle and light, interesting to try. One of my favorite coffee shops in the area! The service is always very fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable. It is almost always busy during the week and I often times see many people working from tables inside and out. There is not much extra room for just lounging during the week and it's rather quiet so I wouldn't recommend coming here with a friend during work hours. When I came across this suggestion, I had to give it a try the very next day. Honestly, for the area, this is a great place to have since Chinese pastry shops are practically non-existent, so it's worth a visit if you've never been. However, with that being said, if you live close to either 8th Avenue Chinatown or Manhattan, you're going to see the old familiars with very high price tags. I came here with an open mind, and although I think I will pass on the pastries next time, I will give their teas a go. For my first visit today, I opted to get the egg tart ($3.50), and the ham and cheese bolo bao ($8!!!!!). I must say, I was pretty content with the egg tart. It was not overly sweet, was still warm, and had a lovely custard texture; would definitely try this again when the mood struck me. There is a clear difference with these egg tarts in comparison to what you might get at Lily Bloom, or other well known places, but I did enjoy it. The ham and cheese bolo bao was, as another review commented, can absolutely be replicated cheaper from the comforts of your own home. The bao itself can be bought on 8th Avenue Chinatown for around $2.50, and I can get my own cold cuts and pop it in the toaster. It did take some time for them to prepare this, which was a bit frustrating since I stopped by prior to clocking in at work. Was it worth $8? Absolutely not. As another reviewer stated, no one mentioned the punch card either to me. I noticed it on the counter as I waited for the bolo bao to finish toasting, and took one. I asked to have it punched before leaving, and that was that. I was kinda surprised that the staff didn't try to make more of an appoint to ask if I knew about the punch card while I ordered, since I'm clearly not a regular, but I guess if you don't ask, you don't get. Hipsters and transplants seem to love it here, and looks like the vibe is definitely chill and laid back, but if you're looking to get that real Chinatown pastry taste you've been craving, here might not be it. read more

Nice spot to WFC (work from coffee shop)- enough space, good options for food, and nice number of outlets! Had issues with wifi so had to hotspot but still had a good work session. There are lanterns hanging all around, and the metal tables are really reminiscent of small Asian mom-and-pop restaurants. There's also a back room with a mahjong table (not sure if they have a mahjong set), and a circular table with a glass top--very reflective of yum cha dining rooms. As an Asian-American, the place really made me feel at home. I've had their matcha latte and hojicha maple lattes. I've been here a handful of times and it's such a cute and unique cafe! The interior decor, especially the back room with the neon signs and plastic chairs are inspired by Temple Street in Hong Kong. The front of the cafe is more of a typical cafe and you can grab all the classics with your milk of choice. When I went recently I grabbed a spiced cardamom latte, an egg tart, and a lemon jam bun. The pastries are going to be a little pricier than what you'd expect in Chinatown but they're great all the same. Service here is pretty efficient and I've never had a bad experience. They also somewhat regularly have little art and food related pop ups that pay homage to their Asian American roots. read more

Great local coffee shop! They have a good variety of coffee and tea-based drinks, including seasonal specials and a good assortment of pastries - all with an Asian influence. My favorite is the red bean bun. I love the style, decor, and attention to detail. The space is quite big, with small tables in the main room and some additional seating in the back, which is a little dark.. better-suited for events, and also a couple of tables out in the front. Having read about the story of how this place came to life, I'm impressed by the two young Asian women who successfully run this place. A lot busier now vs. when I visited last year in Feb! Pastries, coffee are great but a wee bit overpriced (as with any other coffee shop). The black sesame option/addition is a MUST. Pastries were great because of the nostalgia, but I'm pretty sure you can get something similar in chinatown for a fraction of the price. It is Brooklyn, though! I also follow their insta despite not living in NY and seems like they are focusing more on community events. Definitely looks fun, and I love their neon sign/logo! Next time will definitely get some merch. Wouldn't recommend this spot for a place to sit down and work... not many tables available and there is a constant stream of customers. This Asian-owned, woman-owned cafe, bakery, and art space is a dream come to life. Anyone familiar with the goods at a traditional Cantonese bakery will appreciate the array of pastries they have here, which include roast pork buns, egg tarts, sponge cake, and pineapple buns-- theirs is made with ham and cheese and they even offer a Southeast Asian treat or two like kaya toast. The pastry menu can be quite limited, and they sell out fast. I imagine inventory is difficult to predict and have in stock since they're still new and demand can fluctuate from day to day, but I have not been able to count on getting any baked goods on days I've visited. The pastries are not made by them btw, but sourced from a local Chinese bakery. The beverage menu is compact and has all the cafe classics like macchiatos, lattes, and drip, but you'll also find fun drinks like a hojicha or almond cookie latte. My ginger latte came out nice and fragrant. I also appreciate the back room area which functions as a gallery space to feature photography and art. It is teeny tiny but they make great use of the space. I think they could do a better job promoting the exhibits and events by updating their website, though I see that they will occasionally post on Instagram. It would be great to see upcoming exhibits and featured pop-ups on their website, rather than relying on their social media. Land to Sea is a great entry into the cafe/event venue space and I hope to see them blossom and thrive, because we need more poc, women-owned businesses and spaces to build community in. read more

This place exceeded my expectations. From the coffee, the buns, the vibe, the service - it was all great! I tried the espresso mint julep and it was so good - reminded me of the mint mojito coffee from Philz in California. If they added a sprig of fresh mint it would be the cherry on top of the Sunday but nonetheless, a great refreshing choice. Hidden cafe in Brooklyn with really unique vibes and delicious pastries. My friend and I got a Hot Dog Bun and a Pineapple Bun; both were delicious and tasted super fresh! Service was quick and friendly; there were a few seats in the cafe along with a really unique area that's lit up by neon lights that completely differs from the rest of the cafe.
