Stopped by here twice during our trip in NY! The first time we went was on a Sunday morning, and it was very crowded/bustling inside the small space. I ordered an iced matcha latte (regular sweetness) to go, and it was a bit too sweet for me (didn't know I could adjust the sweetness level because they only asked if I wanted my drink sweetened or unsweetened), but it was still a delicious high quality matcha latte that I thoroughly enjoyed. The second time we went was early in the morning on a Wednesday (9:30ish) before taking the train to the airport, and there was basically no line/only a few people sitting inside. My husband ordered a hot matcha latte and a hot hojicha latte (both half sweetness) for us to enjoy outside at the few tables in front of the store. They were both not too sweet and smooth and frothy. I would definitely go back to Kijitora again on a future NY trip, and I recommend you order half sweet or unsweetened if you don't like your drinks too sugary. read more

Recently discovered this cute cafe! Has great ham and cheese as well as grilled cheese on the weekends! Such cute sandwich in the shape of a cat. Kijitora is a cat-themed Japanese cafe. It has been a while since my last visit. Their drink menu has largely expanded. I was honestly attracted by every item, like Matcha Mango, Tiramisu Latte, and Shiso Sencha Soda. I also really enjoyed their Black Sesame Latte and Hojicha Latte. I visited their Williamsburg East location. I like this location more as it's more spacious with restroom and seatings. I was quite surprised by the harmony of matcha and peach flavor combination. The iced mango matcha latte is SO good and I would definitely come back for it. I like that they didn't have just the typical strawberry matcha that many other cafes have. The one with red bean actually threw me off guard b/c it was 90% red bean and matcha syrup/paste on top of it.. and not the other way around for the ratio. The texture was also too thick and it didn't seem like a "latte" that I was drinking. The drinks do take a bit to come out but it's because they measure everything and really try to make each drink to its standard. My go-tos are the tiramisu latte (iced) and the strawberry matcha latte. The tiramisu latte is just...a sip of heaven! A fluffy and foamy cream layer on top and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon, it's so, so good! On weekends, they have delicious grilled sandwiches. We enjoyed the shiso pesto turkey and cheese one. There is a small wall of cat themed knick knacks for sale - tote bags for $20, stickers for $2, etc. The neko grilled cheese itself was $10 and it was good but once you take away the ears, it's really just a grilled cheese right? It does have butter inside and a decent amount of the provolone I chose, and butter as well. The staff are nice, and I'm glad they let me know the wait for just the grilled cheese alone was 20 mins. I'm also sad, I let them know I'd be sitting outside but they gave me a togo box instead of the cutting board presentation. We got a couple items to try but I only got the picture of the peach fizz matcha which I think is a seasonal drink!
