With the matcha craze sweeping nyc by storm, it's good to have Kijitora on the scene. Their iced strawberry matcha latte is equal parts matcha and strawberry, earthy yet subtly sweet. Not exactly the zen cafe you would expect, the shop is small and always packed. But the line moves fast and the service is efficient. The strawberry matcha latte is worth the wait and tastes like fresh strawberries without diluting the taste of the matcha. The mango matcha latte tastes less like matcha and more like a mango smoothie with a hint of matcha. Regardless, it tasted good but just not something I would get again. Overall, I would definitely come back for the strawberry matcha latte. It's the perfect caffeinated beverage on a hot day.
I came here after seeing good reviews of this place on social media. I decided to get a seasonal chestnut matcha latte. The people in the front were so nice with any questions I had and helped me decide on this latte. I was scared of it being too sweet, but they gave me their input and I ended up ordering it and it did not disappoint! It was the perfect amount of matcha and chestnut flavoring - without them overpowering each other. There was a good amount of seating inside to catch up with friends or do some work. I liked the area where they sold little cat stickers and cards too. Super cute place and they lived up to my matcha expectations!
Got the mango matcha latte, which I wanted to like more than I did. The matcha itself was smooth, which is the star of the show, but the mango puree overpowers the taste of matcha in my opinion and I just got straight mango and not enough matcha for most of the drink. I downed this drink quickly because I kept sipping, hoping for a more forward matcha flavor, but didn't really get it. For $8 (+0.75 for oat milk), not worth it for me. However, I would be curious to come back for the strawberry matcha or just a regular matcha latte. Ambiance: it's a tight space with just a few tables, so most likely a to-go situation on the weekends.
Recently discovered this cute cafe! Has great ham and cheese as well as grilled cheese on the weekends! Such cute sandwich in the shape of a cat. You'll have to wait 5-10 minutes for the food but totally worth it. It does get a bit busy during the weekend but worth the wait. Small interior though so best to take to go!
Second time at Kijitora. Enjoyed both times very much so. Seating a bit limited but very comfy space. Clean area with a very kind staff. Got the cute grilled cheese and coffee this time. I really enjoyed the grilled cheese, would suggest any of them, tried them all, my favorite was the pesto turkey Coffee was solid, nothing too stand out, but a good cup. The drip was a nice light/sweet profile. The rice balls were quite good and I saw a bunch of people order them as well. Had the salmon, quite good size and delicious. Best thing I tried was on my first visit, the mochi brownie. So delicious, a unique chewy rich chocolate treat
this matcha/ asian inspired spot was bustling with ppl and really a small spot in the basement unit. I stop by to just order a miso salmon onigiri and didn't order a drink! As i was waiting notice they had a cute corner selling cute cat/dog nick nacks and cards. service was average and onigiri was made fresh and warm. the miso salmon had a decent flavor but wish there was a bit more salmon as it was more rice. price was average! overall a solid spot and will come back to get drinks next time - a 3.5 in my book! food 3.5/5 service 3/5 ambiance 4/5 value 3.5/5
What an amazing artisanal coffee spot, complete with adorable cat art everywhere! We loved our drinks-- I had a black sesame with crushed strawberries, while my friend enjoyed a matcha latte. The flavors were delicious, and the texture was so smooth; it was like a mini meal in a cup. I can't wait to come back and try all the other flavors--already excited to see what else is in store.

It was definitely delicious, the matcha flavor was deep and not too sweet! However it was a small cup, so I literally downed it in 10 min haha. The inside is very small and cozy with a couple of 2 person tables and trinkets for sale.
Adorable cat themed cafe with the cutest decorations!! Came here on a weekend and the inside was packed. Got lucky with getting an outdoor seat, but might be best to just grab and go. I ordered the azuki matcha latte, which was absolutely delicious. Would love to come back to try their other drink offerings. As for food, I tried two of their grilled cheese sandwiches- shiso pesto turkey & cheese and wasabi tuna melt. I loved the wasabi tuna melt and would definitely get that again. Also tried the mochi brownie, which had the perfect mochi texture. and not too sweet! I would recommend this spot for delicious drinks!! If you have space in your stomach for a snack, definitely try the wasabi tuna melt. I'll be back for sure
Kijitora is a cat-themed Japanese cafe. It has been a while since my last visit. Their drink menu has largely expanded. I was honestly attracted by every item, like Matcha Mango, Tiramisu Latte, and Shiso Sencha Soda. I also really enjoyed their Black Sesame Latte and Hojicha Latte. I visited their Williamsburg East location. I like this location more as it's more spacious with restroom and seatings. They also sell some really cute cat merch (I got some stickers!). ＊Matcha Peach Fizz Inspired by my favorite home cafe influencer to try their seasonal matcha. I was quite surprised by the harmony of matcha and peach flavor combination. The peach flavor really came through and the sparkling soda was so refreshing for summer. ＊Strawberry Matcha Latte Finally tried their viral strawberry matcha. The strawberry milk base was very creamy and rich (we ordered oat milk). The strawberry purée was lightly sweetened. A good strawberry matcha but It didn't impress me. I don't really like the purée here tbh. My favorite is the one from Postcard in West Village (it costs $10 though).
if there's anything that's better than kijitora, it's kijitora east! the matcha at either location is always delicious, but kijitora east takes the cake as it also offers seating and a tasty food menu! really enjoy the ongiris here, as well as the weekend special neko grilled cheese! the service is really friendly and quick, despite groups coming in and out. also lots of doggies around! makes for a charming weekend cafe spot :)

We loveee Kijitora in this house! Their menu is delish- literally no misses! Their branding is the cutest- who isn't soft for cute kitties?! We got their Iced Mango Matcha Latte and Iced Latte. The mango was so refreshing and had a really nice sweetness to it! We really don't see this mango x matcha pairing enough. Their iced latte is always just a really solid go-to! This location is a bit bigger than their other ones. There were a good amount of tables (although they were all taken) for you to stay a while if you wanted to! read more
Was in the area and got matcha! Sakura matcha is floral and taste of rose petals in a good way and i thought itll be sweet but it was perfectly balanced! Delicious. Matcha latte waa yummy but just a tad bit too milky. Cozy ground floor with chairs and tables and friendly barista!! read more
Stopped by here twice during our trip in NY! The first time we went was on a Sunday morning, and it was very crowded/bustling inside the small space. I ordered an iced matcha latte (regular sweetness) to go, and it was a bit too sweet for me (didn't know I could adjust the sweetness level because they only asked if I wanted my drink sweetened or unsweetened), but it was still a delicious high quality matcha latte that I thoroughly enjoyed. The second time we went was early in the morning on a Wednesday (9:30ish) before taking the train to the airport, and there was basically no line/only a few people sitting inside. My husband ordered a hot matcha latte and a hot hojicha latte (both half sweetness) for us to enjoy outside at the few tables in front of the store. They were both not too sweet and smooth and frothy. I would definitely go back to Kijitora again on a future NY trip, and I recommend you order half sweet or unsweetened if you don't like your drinks too sugary. read more

The iced mango matcha?! Amazing! Omg. I thought about it all day yesterday. It was so good. I will definitely be returning. I had the vegan banana bread too and it was good also. Friendly staff and cute little coffee shop with indoor and outdoor sitting. read more

I heard a lot about Kijitora on social media, so I was glad that I was finally able to try it! The place is a bit small and was crowded when we went. The entire place is cat-themed which was so cute, and there was a little section to purchase stationery. I got an iced tiramisu latte, my friend got the matcha latte, and my other friend got a hot miso mocha. My drink was pretty good and we overall enjoyed our drinks! I would come back to try the food! read more

The iced mango matcha latte is SO good and I would definitely come back for it. I like that they didn't have just the typical strawberry matcha that many other cafes have. The one with red bean actually threw me off guard b/c it was 90% red bean and matcha syrup/paste on top of it.. and not the other way around for the ratio. The texture was also too thick and it didn't seem like a "latte" that I was drinking. The drinks do take a bit to come out but it's because they measure everything and really try to make each drink to its standard. Also the rice balls had too much rice and not many of the toppings inside, so I felt like the ratio was too off.. WFH friendly with wifi, tables, and bathroom! read more
Kijitora is a cozy and charming cat-themed café that has great matcha drinks and other East Asian inspired beverages and snacks. I came on a rainy day and I think it's the perfect place to read/journal or catch up with a friend. Azuki Red Bean Latte (7.7/10): I enjoy that Kijitora uses actual red bean paste to make the drinks, allowing for a great red bean taste. It's also not too sweet. I enjoyed and would recommend if you like sweetened red bean paste. (Although I will say it's not as good as Davelle's Azuki Latte) read more

A cozy cafe for matcha and light snacks! There is seating indoors and outdoors. This location is bigger than their other one which if I remember correctly, only has outdoor seating. I stopped here on my way to work to grab an onigiri and a cute drink. The azuki matcha was strong in matcha flavor and had a light sweetness! The red bean was a bit chunky and threw me off, but enjoyed the blend of the two flavors. The onigiri was filling (mostly rice) but the salmon was seasoned well. read more

This is an adorable cat theme cafe with speciality drinks that I highly recommend ordering with a rice ball. The space is super chill and quiet to read a book or relax with friends. I was deciding between a tiramisu latte and black sesame latte. I asked the cashier which one they would recommend since I previously had an ultra sweet and strong mocha from another cafe earlier that day. He explained the sweetness level/profile for both drinks and recommended alternations I can make to whichever drink I ordered. I ordered the black sesame latte with less sweetness and no espresso shot. This was a very soothing latte that kept me warm and wasn't too heavy on the sweetness or too caffeinated. I will most definitely be coming back to try their other speciality drinks and rice balls read more
Definitely come to this location if you're looking for seating and a place to chill with your friends. We went to the other location first and it was pretty packed with limited seating. This location is also pretty busy but if you just wait a little, then you'll most likely find seating. I love the interior and all the cute little cat decorations! My friend ordered the Mango Matcha and I ordered the Strawberry Matcha. Both were absolutely delicious and very creamy! If you've never tried a mango mocha before, definitely give it a go. We also didn't try any food, but the grilled cheese look really good and all of their snacks look amazing. I will be coming back! read more
Ordered an iced matcha latte to go. It was prepared thoughtfully yet quickly. They have many non-dairy milk options to choose from. A little on the pricier side but I have found you need to be willing to pay more money for quality matcha in nyc. They have a couple of tables and chairs for hanging out but it is a rather small space. The matcha latte was perfectly smooth. Would highly recommend! read more
I think I have to come back because I came especially for the neko grilled cheese and didn't try much else. The space is a lot smaller than pictured and on Instagram - I'm tired of Instagram with the misrepresentations. That being said, the space is set up nicely with a seat outside and 4/5 tables inside with a high top inside too for seating. There is a small wall of cat themed knick knacks for sale - tote bags for $20, stickers for $2, etc. The neko grilled cheese itself was $10 and it was good but once you take away the ears, it's really just a grilled cheese right? It does have butter inside and a decent amount of the provolone I chose, and butter as well. The staff are nice, and I'm glad they let me know the wait for just the grilled cheese alone was 20 mins. I'm also sad, I let them know I'd be sitting outside but they gave me a togo box instead of the cutting board presentation. I'll try to go the other location without the grilled cheeses to try the drinks. read more

I came here on a Friday morning to do some work and grab matcha. Small seating inside but comfortable. The cat decorations are cute and they also have dog stickers! I got the azuki matcha latte and it was delicious. Good balance of the red bean and matcha flavors. This place definitely lives up to the hype and one of my favorite matcha places in the city. read more
Heard the raving reviews about Kijitora having the best iced strawberry matcha latte in the city, so I had to come try it out. The cafe is cute and has limited seating but when the weather is nice out there is a bit of outdoor seating available. I got the iced strawberry matcha latte with oatmilk and I wished the matcha was stronger, the strawberry was very overpowering but it was good. The barista who took my order was nice & they were quick. I don't know that I would get this again, but I do want to come back again and try a regular matcha since I have heard that the matcha they use here is delicious. It is a great place to catch up with a friend/work from if you are looking for a new wfh spot. read more
My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of drinks at Kijitora! Upon entering, the interior of the store was small and cozy, which added to its charm, there was a long line through the door but the workflow at Kijitora was really fluid and quick paced. They were very efficient in taking orders and getting them out to customers. The entire experience felt very smooth. The customer service was also very solid and helpful! We ended up ordering several drinks to try with friends, we got the strawberry matcha, black sesame, hoji latte, as well as the tiramisu latte. Every single drink we tried was truly exceptional, the flavors were rich and pronounced, and everything was very smooth and not overly sweet. We really enjoyed everything that we tried! I'm really glad we tried this place, and will definitely be back! TLDR; good service, quick and efficient, and great drinks! read more

(Overall: A) - Kijitora is a small boutique coffee shop in the Williamsburg area with some Asian takes on Western cafes. I was particularly intrigued by their Black Sesame Latte, which I added a shot of espresso. The presentation is simple yet elegant and the black sesame I think adds an interesting premise, although I would've liked the sesame flavor to be more forward as the primarily sesame flavor came from the garnish. The subtle notes of white chocolate is a smart sweetener that is not overpowering in such a way that turns the drink into a milk shake. In addition to this, I would've loved to try out a lot of their menu as it was quite innovating, but I had more food plans after. The shop is a bit cramped but had the necessary components and is cute. (Came an hour before closing ) If so, not worth the $9.25 (added almond milk +$ ) I didn't say anything because I didn't want to appear rude nor picky . It tastes good don't get me wrong . Kijitora has delicious, refreshing, and high-quality matcha. Not only are their iced matcha drinks delicious they also have an amazing wholy m!lk blend that I wish I could've taken a bottle of. The mylk blend is made with dates, vanilla, coconut, hemp and flaxseed. It was the perfect blend with the iced mango matcha drink I had. Cannot wait to come back and have their sesame latte! read more
