    Matcha

love their little cozy cafe. matcha is good and onigiris are pretty yummy too. they host onigiri workshops which is neat and is definitely your local mom and pop cafe vibe i love it

love a place that has hojicha and matcha. very reasonable pricing too for drinks (not $7 for a latte type lol) serving japanese drinks and treats - connected to okonomi fam it looks like in bk areas of seating to read, catch up, do work also sells local artists's works! right near the subway and friendly staff

A new tiny charming cozy ambiance Cafe. Outside seating looks good and cute in this residential area. The store has tasteful big woody table people can relax with some work, reading etc. The flowers on the big table also show their good taste. I had an iced hojicha(roasted tea) latte, which was really good with a little delicate sweet taste. The price is fair, too. $5+. Looks still unfinished as seating could be more to make customers feel more inviting. Heard they serve different menus such as Japanese sake- maybe different ambiance at night. Right now the Manga artist, Ms. Yamamoto, gives a portrait at $10 and many are interested in having it.

Aesthetic space that offers ample indoor and outdoor seating, along with handcrafted mugs, onigiri, and pastries! I got the matcha latte with macadamia milk and it was delicious, smooth, and creamy. I've tried many matcha lattes around the city, and this is easily in my top 5! Overall, this is a great place to relax, read a book, or catch up with friends!

4.5 - Found this hidden gem of a cafe in the neighborhood. I bought the onigiri and was unpleasantly surprised by the rice to fish ratio at $7, which is the reason for the 4.5 rating. Seems to be more in line with 4-5$ instead. The cold brew was good - not too strong nor weak. The ice to liquid ratio on point where it doesn't disappear in 4 sips. Partner got hot matcha tea and she thought it was legit and good. We both got the teddy bear financiers and ate them embarrassingly fast. These seem generally supplied thru the city, though! Service was great, not like those hipster coffee shops where the workers are tired and couldn't be bothered by you. Music is at a great level for conversation and not awkwardly quiet. Super empty on a stormy Tuesday afternoon so we got any choice of seating. There is also a wall full of ceramics for purchase. Would definitely be back just for drinks and bakery items!

I always make a stop here when I'm in the area even if I gotta walk from the G. This is a cafe that specializes in Japanese matcha and hojicha- sooo simple yet so complex and quality!! The place itself is simple too, in a good way. Very warm and welcoming. Much nicer to hang than nearby coffee shop. What does it for me is the beautiful ceramic mugs you can have for here. Thank you guys!!

There's the main seating area and then two offshoot lounges, which aren't quite as cozy but offer different levels of quiet and ambience. I love all the random décor, antique signs, old arcade games as tables, a million lamps. It's like what nook is going for but you can actually sit down on a comfy couch most of the time. The guy working the counter has a lot of energy and clearly loves being there. The PB banana smoothie was yummy, very thick so could use a spoon. Mushroom toast was a bit pricey but you did get a lot of food for your money, the focaccia was crunchier than expected but all around a nice cafe bite. I just appreciate how this is such a gathering spot where you can watch bk life play out while working, it had a different energy from a lot of places in the area.

Shucks I wanted to give this place five stars but it didn't start so well. The first barista who…read moretook my order was really great. I first ordered a chai latte and he said I could do two different syrups so I got the pumpkin and salted maple, though I was worried about it being too sugary so he suggested I could just do half a pump of each. He asked me what the name of the order would be and I said "Aida" (the phonetic spelling is ah-EE-dah). And then I heard the other barista say something along the lines of, "oh Aida, how about 'Aida' rather not be here", pretty rude if you ask me. And then I ordered the spicy nook sandwich. And when another server called my named to grab it she didn't even knowledge me when I tried to thank her and instead she talked to her coworker while I was right in front of her. The sandwich was really good, so was my chai tea. I really like the pumpkin and salt and maple syrups too. I did like all the options for seating although it was pretty packed. I'd say if you have a big party get there early. By 7pm the whole place was filled. There was a huge majong club that came in and took the whole back area, it was so crammed there were lines for the bathroom. Over all I had a good time. I really like the music too just know it gets very busy in there. The employees I would say were hit or miss. The ones that were great though I really liked. Just seem like the ones who didn't really give attention to customers or were kind of rude seemed like they didn't wanna be there.
