I was staying in Greenpoint for a bit and came across this café and it ended up being one of my favorite spots from my New York trip. I came twice because it was so good. The space is super cozy, especially in the winter, with different seating areas whether you want quiet time or a more social vibe, plus lots of outlets for working. I ordered the chicken BLT and it was amazing and totally worth the price. The strawberry black tea was refreshing, and the seasonal hot apple cider was perfect to take on a walk after. If I lived nearby, I would be here all the time. 10/10 and I will definitely be back next time I'm in NYC. read more

Walking in with no idea what to expect other than a place to co-work, I was very impressed with Sweetleaf! Firstly, this is a great place to get work done. There is a variety of seating options that includes bar seating near the restrooms, tables and half booths inside, as well as outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade. The WiFi is reliable. Inside there is one restroom to the right of the cash register. Inside you can order tons of fun drinks which are customizable, wraps, sandwiches, pastries, and there is an open fridge for grab and go options as well. I had a Vietnamese coffee and a vegan BLT. The sandwich and tempeh were fantastic and hit the spot but the Vietnamese coffee was a lot for me (mind you, I'm not a coffee person so it was just really flavorful). My friend enjoyed her coffee here as well and loved her wrap. This is such a nice hang out spot! Vibes were good, the menu seems like it changes from time to time and overall the ambiance of this spot makes it somewhere I'd love to return with friends. read more

The space is great for catching up with a friend or catching up on work. I came on a Saturday morning and was worried about seating, but people change over fairly quickly. The seating is a bit close to each other but they've pushed seats to either side of the bar which helps it feel less crowded! I tried their OG egg sandwich and an iced Pump Rock. The egg sandwich left more to be desired. I don't think that an english muffin is the appropriate vehicle for this sandwich. It was bland and messy, but they were generous with the amount of eggs so I'll give them that. The Pump Rock is a different version of their Rocket Fuel with pumpkin. I'm a fan! It isn't ground breaking but was lovely to sip on. TL;DR - I'd come back! read more

They roast their own beans at a separate location, in Long Island City, which you can buy at any location or even order online to brew at home As you can see from the many pictures posted here, it is a spacious setting with a comfortable hipster ambiance and outdoor seating as well. Thus is a very popular place with plenty of bandwidth to work on your laptop while enjoying their food and drinks. Menu is hipster healthy with plenty of gluten and GMO free options. I found this hidden gem in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I was surprised to see so many options for drinks besides coffee and they had breakfast food and pastries on the menu and also more savory things like the chicken quesadilla I ordered. The food was really good, and affordable. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions about the menu items. The atmosphere was really cool too, there's plenty of seating with two different kind of areas that you just want to look around and point out the quirky things around you that the cafe decorates with. I even enjoyed the music they were playing and found myself on Shazam getting the names of a couple of songs... one being some kind of throat singing which I thought was so different to here in a cafe! Finally something besides elevator music! Greenpoint as a neighborhood is also just a fun spot to walk around and check out little shot and spots as well. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to Sweetleaf soon! read more

Nice Greenpoint cafe to fuel up on caffeine and get some work done. They have decent WiFi and don't mind the wfh folks setting up with their laptops at their tables. There are plenty of cafes in the neighborhood so I feel like the wfh population is dispersed enough that Sweetleaf doesn't get overly crowded, at least the times I've visited. On nicer days I've sat at one of their outdoor tables, which was a great spot to ogle at people's dogs and sip on one of their refreshing ice teas. read more

The chai was ok. The pastries were interesting. The blueberry muffin was really dry. The small chocolate muffins were surprisingly moist and made up for the badness that was the blueberry muffin. The space is quite large with ample seating. It was very nicely decorated. They do have a hot meal menu, which includes toasts, arepas and sandwiches. I'm not sure if I'm going to come out of my way to try those hot foods, but it seems like a good option if you are nearby and need a place to study and stay fed and caffeinated. read more

This has been one of my favorite coffee shops in NYC so far in the year that I have lived here. The vibes are absolutely immaculate with everyone hanging out both inside and outside. The place is very artsy and electric which gives it a very unique feeling to it which I really appreciate it. They have a very unique menu as anyone will be able to find something if that's something new or a classic coffee drink. The decor of Sweetleaf Coffee is really cool, artsy and like an old factory. The ambiance was relaxing and perfect for a rest with a sip of coffee. We had their hot latte substituted with soy milk and mocha which were really tasty and refreshing with great & cozy smell. They serve a various pastries and they all look delicious. Every 5 weeks I make a pilgrimage from long island to queens for 2 things: a haircut and a stop at sweetleaf to stock up on coffee beans (and occasionally a breakfast sandwich). Slapshot blend is my current favorite and it's also my wife's favorite, my father's favorite and my mother in law's favorite which is quite an impressive cross section of people to agree on a favorite coffee. The owner Rich is extremely personable and passionate about coffee, literally traveling the world to find beans (I follow his travels on social media). Christian may be the nicest barista I've come across in my visits to coffee shops anywhere. The only challenge visiting is if you drive as parking can be challenging on days when alternate side rules are in effect (1130am-1pm). read more

The one from Long Island City was literally heaven, I loved every single second of that latte. I've been searching for a spot in queens and every single one has missed. Now, the greenpoint location, friendly welcome as I came in but the latte absolutely nuked the stars. I ordered a caramel latte, The flavor was French vanilla, with those little black specs that, that flavor gives. NO ART. NO ESPRESSO AND MILK SEPARATION. when I tell you, this tasted like I went to Dunkin Donuts and ordered drip coffee with syrup and milk I mean it. By color of the milk and espresso mixed together, this could have fooled me. Then, I see the barista creating latte art for another order which is a little iffy. Really nice place to get work done! Played punk rock-ish music, and there was plenty of seating on a Saturday afternoon. Fast and free wifi, and clean bathroom as well! We had the voodoo child ($5.25) which was Vietnamese coffee, rocket fuel ($5) which was cold brew with VT maple, and maple leaf ($5.25) which was a latte with maple syrup and nutmeg. They ran out of pumpkin but i would've totally tried pump rock too! I think all three drinks were good, and the voodoo child was my favorite- creamy and concentrated goodness. I came here the other day. I always see this place on my bike route and its always full of people. So I gave it a try. The interior is unique, brick wall, drop down lights/chandeliers, small table seating, bar style seating as well. It has a laid back ambiance. I ordered some breakfast and a cafe Latte with whole milk. The breakfast platter (really wasnt a platter) was decent but I felt it was over priced for what I got. Thee eggs that were supposed to be sunny side up, were overly cooked. The bacon however was cooked to perfection. You cant get a better cooked bacon anywhere. The hash brown was dry and a vit over cooked. When the menu said eggs, bacon and hash. I didnt expect it to be one of those McDonald style hash browns. All placed on a small bed of arugula. Despite the imperfection of the eggs and hash brown. The food was very good to eat. Either that or I was just really hungry. The cafe latte with whole milk was done with oat milk despite specifically asking for whole milk. I travel to alot of coffee shops and know the difference lol. Aside from that, the time frame for my food to be given was very close to 30 minutes maybe over that. I was able to watch 2 episodes of Seinfeld on my phone before I was called to retrieve my food. Despite these hiccups, i still give this a 4 star review because what made up for it was the nice gentleman who addressed everyone as friend. His demeanor really removed the frustration of the food and coffee. But let me also say that although the food was over cooked and the coffee was made with the wrong milk, i thoroughly enjoyed it. Between the ambiance, the gentleman and the tasty food. Its a place i will revisit more than twice when time allows. You just dont find places like this anywhere. read more
