One of the best coffee shops in Greenpoint! It's definitely our go-to for an iced oat latte since you can taste the espresso... as opposed to a milky coffee. I love Uro. The coffee is quite good, and the management is friendly. The prices are a bit high, and they probably are catering more towards the people in the neighboring condos or recent arrivals. However, the regular coffee is not too expensive, and there is an interesting mix of hipsters and Poles (not surprising, since the owner is Polish, but also kind of a hipster, seeing as he has a goatee and owns a bike shop). They also have croissants, scones and danishes which I think come from a shop around the corner. This is not necessarily a place to work on your laptop all day, as there is only a few stools. However, it is a pleasant place, and they often have newspapers or magazines laying about. Trigger alert: they also have incredibly creepy clown paintings here, which might frighten coulrophobics or small children. read more

Greenpoint's a-changing! Not only is there now a Starbucks and Bank of America up on Manhattan Avenue, little shops like this are starting to pop up every so often. This is a new cafe on Driggs just a block-plus from the corner of Manhattan. It's barely big enough to walk into -- I don't remember seeing any seating -- and they've got several coffee urns on a counter. That's what they sell: coffee. $1.25 will get you a small cup to go. It's not bad coffee. And it's nice to have a place that's on my way to the subway. As close as Cup of Joe's -- http://www.yelp.com/biz/HZyXfdLnE5CwTfgcmnyy4Q -- is to where I live, it's a block-plus in the wrong direction. This place is less my speed but more convenient. read more

This review is limited in that I have only had iced coffee at Uro Cafe. That being said, I love iced coffee and drink it by the gallon. While I can get a much cheaper and equally (if not some days more) delicious iced coffee on another corner, I was pleasantly surprised with Uro Cafe. Now that it's fall I have in my plans to enjoy a cappuccino at Uro one day and watch the street traffic. It may be a tad on the pricey side, but what isn't these days? read more

This was almost a 1-star review, but they redeemed themselves at the end of my stay. Cappaccino was good but too frothy for my taste (ordered a large and 50% of the cup was all foam). It's fine for the cup not to be full... but foam i do not want to drink. Any case, i requested a switcharoo to coffee and was given severe attitude. After working on my laptop for 20 minutes, I was given a coffee. Honestly, I just wanted some caffeine that wouldn't cause me stomach problems. Anyway, service is pretty quick and their coffee is good. Sitting space is a little tight/cramped, but the takeaway is the coffee is good coffee and my experience didn't leave a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

The emphasis here is on the drink quality which is excellent. Lovely rich-tasting Americano for $2.00. They also sell good coffee beans. Space is small but very clean. Tasty pastries are fresh daily though they run out fast - not surprising at $1.50 for a delicious scone. At Uro less is more: small menu - big quality; small bean and pastry selection - high quality; small seating area - super clean. No sooner had I tied my dog's leash to the outside bench one hot day and the owner was out with a big bowl of cool water for him. Nice touch. read more

I stopped in Uro Cafe to do some work in the middle of the day with the hope they had a AC and a restroom. They had AC, but they didn't have a public restroom to use. They have a seating at a counter by the front window and also one or two small tables. Even though there isn't a lot seating, no one else was here in the middle of they day. The guy working behind the counter was friendly. And they do have free wifi. The iced tea I ordered was pretty standard, but it did the trick. read more

Their iced coffee is mediocre at best, but I find myself going to Uro more than I'd like for the sheer fact that it's close to my apartment. I ordered an iced coffee last week, gave the guy a $10 bill, and he gave me $18 change. I told him that I had given him a $10 bill, not a $20 bill and handed him back the $10 bill from the incorrect change. The barista was very nice. The shop is a little bit small, but it was quite decorated. It has couple of weird arts. I had got a large cappuccino and had a heart (cafe art). Some cappuccino out there are pretty weak and taste water out, but this one has a strong coffee scent and taste. The bitterness was just right. Too bad the croissants was sold out, I would love to try them. read more
