I have to laugh. From the reviews it sounded like I'd find some creative flavors for my iced latte this morning. When I asked, I was told they only have vanilla or hazelnut. I got hazelnut & I must say this iced latte is great! The shop is tiny & reflects its history with old, cool, unfinished brick walls. The place has a funky vibe & the workers were chill & nice. It's tiny inside so I sat outside on a bench & did the NYC thing. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service I experienced today, June 10th at 4:01 PM, at this coffee shop. I walked in and was patiently waiting before placing my order. An employee had just served the customer ahead of me, but when I stepped forward, he refused to take my order, stating that he wasn't accepting any more--even though door was open, lights were on and music was playing. When he saw me he turned off lights turned off music and looked at me as if he wanted me to get the point. though I had been waiting and it was literally 4:01. What made it worse was hearing him say that he doesn't get paid extra to work past 4:00, so he simply didn't care. His attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. I understand closing procedures, but customer service should never stop abruptly--especially while still serving others just moments before. This experience left a sour taste, not because of the coffee (which I didn't get to try), but because of how unwelcome and disregarded I felt. I hope management addresses this behavior, because this is not how any business should treat paying customers. read more

This place has such a good vibe. It really adds a lot to the neighborhood. Quite a few of the employees have been working here for years, and that gives it character and a friendly atmosphere. Often interesting music is playing. And I like the coffee! I come in every few days and order a cortado (which Eric makes perfectly, with a heart), and I buy the beans for use at home. Cute little coffee shop. There was one barista making all the drinks and working the register, this man was a machine! They were out of iced coffee cup lids and do not offer honey for their lattes. The espresso was rich and tasted great with vanilla in my latte. My only qualm is the espresso was poured on top of the milk as opposed the milk being poured over the espresso....changes the drink a bit, not my preference. read more

Here is a fact: the baristas at Oslo on West 10th are almost entirely arrogant and rude... it's almost a guarantee each and every time. This is my most convenient coffee shop, and Ive been in here 100 times or more... but literally, getting a barista in there to show a modicum of niceness is nearly an impossibility. No Smile. No "thank you for coming in" nor a "thank you for the tip" or any other shred of appreciation or humanity. Zero positive vibes. Sure, the baristas have their very small group of cool-enough regulars they are willing to gel with, but by and large, just terrible service for everybody that enters. If you want to feel like a total nuisance to a business, this might be the place for you! For anyone else... it's horrible. read more

Coffee was good, but there are other places that are on par or better. Taking off a star because of service because that matters to me, but they deserve the rest for the quality of coffee and ambiance - albeit small and cramped. But alas, we are in New York. For a grab and go coffee spot you have like 30 seconds to make a good impression & give good customer service. Just saying. In this world, quality of food/drinks matters but also customer service - at least to me. There are countless other places that nail it, but for Oslo maybe it's not a priority. There was only one person, who was both the barista and cashier. When I came in, he glared at me for a good minute and didn't say anything, no greeting or anything, until I ordered. It's whatever and not a big deal, but it felt unwelcoming & awkward to me and left a meh first impression of the place. Maybe he had a bad day. I just left immediately after getting coffee since there wasn't space anyways. read more

A colleague recommended this place and I must say, I enjoyed quick friendly service and deliciously deep and complex double espresso. :) I am a certified coffee snob and the beans had a surprisingly wonderful balance of brightness, acidity, and sweetness! Also, they apparently roast them in my hometown of Brooklyn, New York! Great stuff. read more

Which inspired me to do my civil duty and come on here to tell the people of Yelp: the answer is, and always will be, Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Every single sip is exactly what it should be: creamy, perfectly balanced, that ideal balance between bitter and sweet. The location right next to the park makes it even better. Grab your drink, step outside, and suddenly you're on a walk with something delicious in your hand and a little more appreciation for being alive. That's a pretty good deal for the price of a latte.

Sat outside on a nice day, service was good, and I ended up chatting with the staff and even struck up a conversation with some out-of-towners at the next table. It's exactly the kind of place made for a lazy afternoon meetup: good coffee, easy energy, and enough foot traffic to make people-watching part of the experience. Solid pick if you want coffee that does the job without the pretension.

The shop off Broadway was quiet on Sunday morning and I hung out and enjoyed my Cortado, picked up a couple bags of beans, and planned my day. The coffee is always superb, smooth and rich. I'll be swinging by their other shop before I fly out just to get one last hit of Devocion.

When I told my NYC friends about my, er, addiction, I was recommended Hungry Ghost for their brekkie tacos, made by King David Tacos. Confirmed that Hungry Ghost has KDT tacos. For the West Village, there's a decent amount of seating - pleasant window and counter spots, and some in a darker nook in the back. Sidewalk-side tables, too. No public restroom.
