I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service I experienced today, June 10th at 4:01 PM, at this coffee shop. I walked in and was patiently waiting before placing my order. An employee had just served the customer ahead of me, but when I stepped forward, he refused to take my order, stating that he wasn't accepting any more--even though door was open, lights were on and music was playing. When he saw me he turned off lights turned off music and looked at me as if he wanted me to get the point. though I had been waiting and it was literally 4:01. What made it worse was hearing him say that he doesn't get paid extra to work past 4:00, so he simply didn't care. His attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. I understand closing procedures, but customer service should never stop abruptly--especially while still serving others just moments before. This experience left a sour taste, not because of the coffee (which I didn't get to try), but because of how unwelcome and disregarded I felt. I hope management addresses this behavior, because this is not how any business should treat paying customers. read more

Cute little coffee shop. There was one barista making all the drinks and working the register, this man was a machine! They were out of iced coffee cup lids and do not offer honey for their lattes. The espresso was rich and tasted great with vanilla in my latte. My only qualm is the espresso was poured on top of the milk as opposed the milk being poured over the espresso....changes the drink a bit, not my preference. read more

Good coffee shop that is not trying to do "too much". It's nice and simple and the coffee is not acidic. The barista dude working alone is completely unorganized and I kinda loved it. They had a few seats set up on the sidewalk, and it was easy to chat with the locals here about stuff while I relaxed. Passed by this place and there was a line. So of course had to check it out. There's only one guy behind the counter. He was at the register and also the barista. He was so efficient and fast. It was solid coffee and really hit the spot. There's some seating outside in the front, but nothing really inside, so it's more of a grab and go place. It's so cool in here. The coffee spot is filled with great vibes. The baristas were sweet and I love the quality of the coffee. Here is a fact: the baristas at Oslo on West 10th are almost entirely arrogant and rude... it's almost a guarantee each and every time. This is my most convenient coffee shop, and Ive been in here 100 times or more... but literally, getting a barista in there to show a modicum of niceness is nearly an impossibility. No Smile. No "thank you for coming in" nor a "thank you for the tip" or any other shred of appreciation or humanity. Zero positive vibes. Sure, the baristas have their very small group of cool-enough regulars they are willing to gel with, but by and large, just terrible service for everybody that enters. If you want to feel like a total nuisance to a business, this might be the place for you! For anyone else... it's horrible. read more

Coffee was good, but there are other places that are on par or better. Taking off a star because of service because that matters to me, but they deserve the rest for the quality of coffee and ambiance - albeit small and cramped. But alas, we are in New York. For a grab and go coffee spot you have like 30 seconds to make a good impression & give good customer service. Just saying. In this world, quality of food/drinks matters but also customer service - at least to me. There are countless other places that nail it, but for Oslo maybe it's not a priority. There was only one person, who was both the barista and cashier. When I came in, he glared at me for a good minute and didn't say anything, no greeting or anything, until I ordered. It's whatever and not a big deal, but it felt unwelcoming & awkward to me and left a meh first impression of the place. Maybe he had a bad day. I just left immediately after getting coffee since there wasn't space anyways. read more

Wow. This place absolutely deserves 5 and more stars! Their cappuccino was one of the best I have ever had. I am super particular about my cappuccino and I am sad whenever coffee places serve my cappuccino almost like lattes. (Not enough foam or too much milk) Oslo did it absolutely perfectly. Excellent coffee at Oslo. Some of the best in the city. Every single drink I've had here has been top notch. The barsitas are always great too. They work fast and are generally very friendly. Solid. I can't accurately comment on the taste of the coffee because I drank it immediately after brushing my teeth so for all I know their coffee with menthol flavored. I had really been craving a muffin and went for the blueberry corn which is already a strange sounding combo and to top it off there is crumb cake type stuff on top. This was just too much going on. Not horrible but not easy to understand all the flavors going on. The space although was bright and airy and somewhat attractive workers talking about all the forms they need to fill to be official employees. Fun eaves dropping read more
