Didn't expect to find affordable Vietnamese food in Murray hill so this was a pleasant spot to come upon! It is near the movie theater so a great place to grab a bite either before or after the movies. I got the pho and it was good. Very clear broth. I was able to try the chicken bahn me as well and it was solid too. Service was quick and the ambience was casual. I would come back if I was ever in the area and wanted a simple viet spot.

Get the banh mi (I preferred the Hanoi style personally!) with a side of beef soup - thank me later. They have specialty phos but the banh mi + soup combo was great for the cold weather. Cozy seating and great service, our food came out almost immediately after we ordered.

Pho was good. Quick service, fair pricing. Would come again next time I'm in the area.

I have been to this quaint and pretty popular Vietnamese restaurant twice over the multiple years it's been open, with a long time separating the two visits. The service was very friendly both times, and the place got quite crowded the second time I was there. The first time I had the Hanoi Style Bánh Mì for $14 or so, which consisted of ham & pate, pork floss, jalapeno, and Maggi sauce. The bread was decent, with some crunch, but not too much, and there was a good amount of ingredients, whether it was the various pork products or the vegetables. It was reasonably priced, at least for Murray Hill, and decently flavored, but I wouldn't go out of my way for said sandwich. I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee to go, which was standard and worked well enough to keep me alert in the afternoon, and was lightly sweetened with condensed milk as requested. The second time, I had something I preferred much more, their pho. I went with the O.G. Pho for $14.50 with angus sirloin and brisket, and added tendon and tripe for an extra $4, and essentially turned it into a pho dac biet/phở dặc biệt. The broth was better flavored than some of the other Vietnamese spots in the area, and there was plenty of noodles. The meat was nice and tender, though there wasn't much of either the tenderloin or the brisket. The tendon and tripe on the side added some nice textures. It was an above-average bowl of pho at a typical Murray Hill price. If you're in the neighborhood, I would recommend it if you're in the mood for Vietnamese.

Service was great. Not a lot of seating but there was pretty much no wait for a Friday dinner. Food was amazing. I would definitely recommend the pho and the coffee!

I came here for dinner and very satisfied! The size of the Pho is insane! Perfect flavor, more on the lighter side of pho. Delicate. The dumplings were perfect as well. I tried the cocktail (forgot the name) but it was delicious and unique! The staff were all super kind and helpful. I took my time eating, and I didn't feel pressured at all to hurry up. I enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant as well. It felt very comfortable and place you'd like to go to with your friends. Will definitely come back here!

Excellent pho still. The Brussels sprouts and iced coffee are my favorites! Best pho in the area.

After a movie, we stopped for dinner. It was a hot summer night and conveniently located in Kips Bay. It was near closing time. A small retail space with people waiting for take out. A good sign that locals order from here. Nicely lit, air conditioned and clean. We were seated shortly as some guests were leaving. My pork chop was huge for what I would typically get in a Vietnamese restaurant. Nice quality piece of meat, lean off the bone. Nicely seasoned. The steamed egg was good. Everything was better than other places we had been to, serving Vietnamese. My wife was in full agreement. A very nice experience. We will be back.

Long night of drinking and decided I needed some early morning pho which back in cali is my go to! Broth was amazing, flavors didn't disappoint from the sauces with the beef dumplings (on sale for two for one) same for the egg rolls and crispy egg rolls were amazing. Not a fan of young coconut with pulp listed because I always figure it's a real coconut and not juice but my friends drank it up. The unsweetened green tea was exactly what it was supposed to be. Can't complain when you get what you ask for. The main difference is that when ordering the raw meat, back home it comes in a bag to differentiate and not contaminate the rest of the food incase delivery takes longer than expected which was weird. I also ordered an extra small broth to quick cook it on the side. I don't know if that's an NY thing or just this place thing. Overall, not bad. Raw meat with the other cooked food for delivery was off to me.

We stopped by for early dinner/ late lunch yesterday. Small hole in the wall on 34 th stree between 2 nd n 3 rd ave. Were a lil skeptical as it wasn't that appealing but we were hungry n thought we'd give it a try. Guess first impressions count but I was wrong. Walked in n it was a small cozy place n friendly staff. We ordered the Saigon famous wings w crackers, MOM's dumplings, crispy brussel sprouts n stir fried bok choy. Wings were really good. Dumplings out of this world n there were 5. Brussels sprouts were crispy w a garlic sweet chili glaze. Oh my so delicious. And the stir fry bok Choi tasted good -never had it before n thought we'd try it. Had the Murray hill pho w short rib iw spicy paste . OMG was so good w plenty of meat n was so good. The Bo lu lac - shaking beef Was to die for. Chunks of meat in black pepper sauce w pickled onion n a nice side salad n rice.so delicious n flavorful. Banh mi chicken tasted good too. There was no room for desert. Tx u for a great meal. Will be back soon.

Omg this was the cutest place ever, and gave me exactly what I needed for my solo day adventure! I was in the area visiting the famous international specialty store "Kalustyan" and was craving a hearty soup. This place came up on Yelp as highly recommended so I had to stop by. The inside is small and intimate, but intimate because of the size, not because of the ambience. It has the vibe of "stop by, grab a good bite with a small group or solo, and be on your way." There's a small bar with I believe 3-4 stools. Deeper in the establishment, there are a lot of 2 tops and a couple of areas that can seat 4 tops. I got the OG Pho and it was exactlyyyy what I needed. Hearty, flavorful, full of body, and comforting. And to my surprise they had a bar menu! I did not pay attention to that when I selected the place. I got the lychee martini and it was so delicious!! I ordered 2! I was feeling 100% satisfied by the time I left. Great surprise and stop in my day of shopping.

Came by on a Saturday at 7:50pm and were sat right away. Ordered the shrimp summer roll and Nom Nam Pho. The soup was very flavorful, you can tell it was simmered for a long time. The bowl was a generous amount with half bone marrow, angus sirolin, and beef balls. Very filling and affordable for midtown prices. Fast casual place with quick service.

I got the pho ($21.78), which is steep for pho, but I guess that's Midtown prices for you. The wait was a slog--over 20 minutes for a bowl of pho, which other Yelp reviews warned about. When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. Decent, but the wait and price make it hard to love. Might try again if they speed things up.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.

So when my family stumbled into Pho 39, a tiny spot with just a handful of tables tucked away from the chaos outside, it felt less like finding a restaurant and more like discovering a Rebel outpost that somehow survived undetected in the middle of Imperial territory. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a solid Vietnamese spot: pho, combination rice plates, the usual lineup. We were ready to order and move on with our lives. Then we saw the tacos. Vietnamese tacos. On the menu. Sitting right there between the banh mi and the spring rolls like they'd always belonged. Nobody in my family said anything for a full three seconds, which for us is basically a standing ovation. We ordered the duck spring rolls to start, which were fresh, well packed, and disappeared faster than a starfighter in hyperspace. For the mains we went with the beef flank pho and the banh mi combination special. The pho had a clean, well developed broth that clearly had some time put into it, and the beef flank was tender enough to make you slow down and pay attention. The banh mi combo was solid, balanced, and hit all the right notes. We did not get the tacos this visit, which means we have a built in reason to return and nobody can argue with that logic. For a small room in the middle of one of the busiest cities on the planet, Pho 39 manages to feel genuinely calm and focused. Good food, good value, and a menu with enough surprises to keep things interesting. The Force is strong with this little spot.
