This is one of new favorite go to places for Vietnamese food. I think when considering both the cost and the flavor, it is the best I have found. It is usually packed during meal times so expect a wait or choose to order take out to save on wait times. I personally love when the Bahn mi is stuffed with both the meat and veggies, it has the perfect ratio. Sometimes there's not enough filling and it feels like you are only eating bread, but at Nom Nam that is definitely not the case. The Pho was also pretty flavorful and it wasn't the best I have had but it was still really good given that I haven't found too many Pho places that I love in nyc. I definitely recommend adding Nom Nam to your lists of places to try! read more

I'm not in the area very often so this review is for first impressions. Naturally how I heard about this place is how any of us hear about anywhere now... TikTok. Do I agree it's "the best pho in nyc"? Hell no. Would I say it's a pretty damn solid pho? *bleep* yeah. I think it also helped that there was a surprising amount of Vietnamese people dining there. For perspective, we're a bit of a rare breed in nyc itself and much less in this pocket of Manhattan. Suffice it to say, it's a Viet restaurant worth going out of your way for. So-- here are the things I unexpectedly like about Nom Nam: * I love love love the diner homage. It's common for new restaurants to play it safe or create an environment of grandeur, that people are often adverse to have fun. This checkered multi-colored menu, neon sign having, is unapologetically fun. The sign on the wall "troi dat oi" is a passive aggressive phrase all Vietnamese moms say. I could do with a different name than "Nom Nam" but it is easy to remember. * The pho: SOLID! Can we take a minute and celebrate reliability without admonishing mediocrity? I like eating upscale obscured ingredients more than the next guy but I'd much prefer a consistent reliably good savory pho or a cold/hungover/sick night. * The Bo Luc Lac: look... or luc (hehe don't kill me-- my gf just sneered at me), the BLL did not have that desired wok hay seared outside but the meat-- tender, the sauce-- immaculate, my stomach-- happy. Honestly I'd buy that sauce alone. Things I didn't like (or care for really): * The cocktail: I like a place with a dedicated cocktail list bespoke to them but they played it safe here. There was one item that could be considered the most Vietnamese but it came off generic. I mean it's a good cocktail but lacks that special flair the rest of the restaurant is doing great at. * The wings: the wings were good. In fact, they tasted exactly how my mom makes them and she's considered the best cook out of 7 siblings. That being said, 4 wings? I know, you probably don't wanna do that either; I blame the economy... and a certain party making the economy worse as we speak. * The pho descriptions on the menu: as a Viet, I even had a hard time discerning what makes each one distinct. I feel like ai would be a good use case here to help Things I'll be coming back for: * Them Banh Mis * The coffees * The homemade limeade & salted plum I appreciate the waitress admitting the limeade was really sweet, so I'll go on a day where I had a good gym sesh or something read more

Been meaning to try. Seen great reviews off yelp and social media. Cute little spot, came right before noon on weekday and it was mostly full already. Service was good and friendly. To the food... - viet bao -- the actual Bao was a little hard, not freshly steamed -- felt microwaved. The flavor of the ingredients were good though. 3/5 - summer roll - good but standard 4/5 - pho - broth was excellent. One of the better ones. The noodles were overcooked and too soft and lacked chew. 4/5. Not bad for Murray hill! Other option is 5spice on the neighborhood. read more

I stumbled upon this place after an appointment in the city, and it was such a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and attentive, and I was seated right away. I ordered the beef pho with a lemonade, and both were delicious. The pho was especially flavorful and tasted very fresh. I visited in the afternoon, and the restaurant wasn't too busy. I would definitely come back! read more

Great food, pleasant and comfortable setting and really nice and quick service. I got seated right away. Multiple people came in single and felt comfortable eating alone like me. I got pho with tripe and brisket for $17. read more

Came here for dinner on a weekday. The restaurant is near my friend's place. The place was exactly what we were looking for... Inexpensive, cozy and comfortable atmosphere! The place was a little busy, but they didn't take reservations. Amazing service and delicious food! The food was fresh and came out fast. Portions are generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry. My favorite dish was Vegan Pho without tofu, which was delicious, also gluten free, dairy free and soy free. Others had something else I had no interest in to remember the name. Their menu has many options to offer, including gluten free, soy free, and dairy free options. We would come back again and highly recommend you check out this place if you are in Murray Hill Manhattan. read more

Best bowl of pho ive had in a while (maybe ever?!) I got the nom nam pho and opted to sub the meatballs with tendon and tripe which they did with no charge. scooping out the bone marrow is always fun and it added so much richness to the broth. and i knew the broth was no joke when my leftovers were congealed the next day (as all good bone broth should). the amount of meat to noodle ratio is also good. Would definitely come back. Service was pretty fast and laid-back read more

On E 34th St, bet. 2nd and 3rd Ave. It's a small, casual place, with small tables close to each other, and great ambiance - bright, shutters for decor, colorfully painted ceiling. Welcoming and cheery staff. Went there for the Nom Nam Pho with bone marrow and long-simmered broth. Marrow was for my husband - piece was kind of small. The rest was delicious. With sirloin and meatballs too. Will surely return for more pho. Their bahn mi with grilled pork was flavorful, crisp fresh veggie toppings. And the Bahn flan is a new favorite. Not too sweet, looked simple but loved the vietnamese coffee flavor and toasted coconut flakes. read more

Stopped by Nom Nam as a family after a long day doing the Statue of Liberty tour, and it was a much-needed sit-down meal. We ordered a mix of things and overall the food was good. The viet bao stood out--really flavorful and probably the best thing we had. The pho was okay, but coming from LA, it's hard not to compare, and Little Saigon still does it better. My daughter got the famous wings and those were solid. The kids especially liked the prawn chips that came with them--ended up finishing those pretty quickly. Good spot to recharge after a long day out, especially if you're with family and want something satisfying without overthinking it. read more

Didn't expect to find affordable Vietnamese food in Murray hill so this was a pleasant spot to come upon! It is near the movie theater so a great place to grab a bite either before or after the movies. I got the pho and it was good. Very clear broth. I was able to try the chicken bahn me as well and it was solid too. Service was quick and the ambience was casual. I would come back if I was ever in the area and wanted a simple viet spot. read more

I have been to this quaint and pretty popular Vietnamese restaurant twice over the multiple years it's been open, with a long time separating the two visits. The service was very friendly both times, and the place got quite crowded the second time I was there. The first time I had the Hanoi Style Bánh Mì for $14 or so, which consisted of ham & pate, pork floss, jalapeno, and Maggi sauce. The bread was decent, with some crunch, but not too much, and there was a good amount of ingredients, whether it was the various pork products or the vegetables. It was reasonably priced, at least for Murray Hill, and decently flavored, but I wouldn't go out of my way for said sandwich. I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee to go, which was standard and worked well enough to keep me alert in the afternoon, and was lightly sweetened with condensed milk as requested. The second time, I had something I preferred much more, their pho. I went with the O.G. Pho for $14.50 with angus sirloin and brisket, and added tendon and tripe for an extra $4, and essentially turned it into a pho dac biet/phở dặc biệt. The broth was better flavored than some of the other Vietnamese spots in the area, and there was plenty of noodles. The meat was nice and tender, though there wasn't much of either the tenderloin or the brisket. The tendon and tripe on the side added some nice textures. It was an above-average bowl of pho at a typical Murray Hill price. If you're in the neighborhood, I would recommend it if you're in the mood for Vietnamese. read more

I came here for dinner and very satisfied! The size of the Pho is insane! Perfect flavor, more on the lighter side of pho. Delicate. The dumplings were perfect as well. I tried the cocktail (forgot the name) but it was delicious and unique! The staff were all super kind and helpful. I took my time eating, and I didn't feel pressured at all to hurry up. I enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant as well. It felt very comfortable and place you'd like to go to with your friends. Will definitely come back here! read more

After a movie, we stopped for dinner. It was a hot summer night and conveniently located in Kips Bay. It was near closing time. A small retail space with people waiting for take out. A good sign that locals order from here. Nicely lit, air conditioned and clean. We were seated shortly as some guests were leaving. My pork chop was huge for what I would typically get in a Vietnamese restaurant. Nice quality piece of meat, lean off the bone. Nicely seasoned. The steamed egg was good. Everything was better than other places we had been to, serving Vietnamese. My wife was in full agreement. A very nice experience. We will be back. read more

Long night of drinking and decided I needed some early morning pho which back in cali is my go to! Broth was amazing, flavors didn't disappoint from the sauces with the beef dumplings (on sale for two for one) same for the egg rolls and crispy egg rolls were amazing. Not a fan of young coconut with pulp listed because I always figure it's a real coconut and not juice but my friends drank it up. The unsweetened green tea was exactly what it was supposed to be. Can't complain when you get what you ask for. The main difference is that when ordering the raw meat, back home it comes in a bag to differentiate and not contaminate the rest of the food incase delivery takes longer than expected which was weird. I also ordered an extra small broth to quick cook it on the side. I don't know if that's an NY thing or just this place thing. Overall, not bad. Raw meat with the other cooked food for delivery was off to me. read more

Omg this was the cutest place ever, and gave me exactly what I needed for my solo day adventure! I was in the area visiting the famous international specialty store "Kalustyan" and was craving a hearty soup. This place came up on Yelp as highly recommended so I had to stop by. The inside is small and intimate, but intimate because of the size, not because of the ambience. It has the vibe of "stop by, grab a good bite with a small group or solo, and be on your way." There's a small bar with I believe 3-4 stools. Deeper in the establishment, there are a lot of 2 tops and a couple of areas that can seat 4 tops. I got the OG Pho and it was exactlyyyy what I needed. Hearty, flavorful, full of body, and comforting. And to my surprise they had a bar menu! I did not pay attention to that when I selected the place. I got the lychee martini and it was so delicious!! I ordered 2! I was feeling 100% satisfied by the time I left. Great surprise and stop in my day of shopping. read more

- Ordered through Yelp/GrubHub for lunch pick-up: the default pick-up time before noon is set to 12pm - Cozy spot on 34th St between 2nd and 3rd Ave, with ample seating for a comfortable sit-down meal - Prompt and friendly service: my order was packaged and ready just a few minutes after noon; the waitress greeted me with a warm smile and a thank you - Noodles and meats were packaged separately from the broth, with the lid securely wrapped in plastic film; a separate pouch contained bean sprouts, basil, a lime wedge, and sauce packets - For those who prefer to customize, you can easily remove specific ingredients that typically come with Pho when ordering through Yelp - Tip for Pho take-out: heat up your broth first (add the bean sprouts if you prefer them less crunchy) before pouring it over the noodles and meats - The Nom Nam Pho really hit the spot on a chilly first day of fall--the bone marrow was rich and decadent, adding incredible flavor; the meat-to-noodle ratio was just right, and the noodles had a great bite with a nice, bouncy texture read more

I had a late lunch at Nom Nam and was happy to have found this little gem of a restaurant. To start, my host/server, Sasi was so pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Unbeknownst to me, my meal kinda of entered into the staff meal time, whereas the restaurant closes so the staff can eat, decompress and prepare for the dinner rush (I'm a slow eater... the food was really good and I like to savor each bite). Nevertheless, Sasi didn't rush or try to get me out of the restaurant, she came over to inform me that I would be eating amongst the staff. Not a problem for me. I could show some love to the folks who prepared that fire ass lunch for me! Again, I referenced YELP for options in the area. While I know the area and many of the restaurants, I wanted to see what was new and something different. The banh mi sandwich is an overall favorite and I wanted to try their version. I opted for the chicken which had a savory sweet sauce. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! It was so delicious that I ordered chicken wings because while I was hungry, I wanted to save half of the sandwich for later. The chicken wings come with shrimp chips, which is a cute alternative to french fries. They were good and had a nice flavor, but not as crispy as I like my wings. I ate a few and a few shrimp chips, but definitely had a nice treat for the following day. As my grandmother always said, "my eyes are bigger than my stomach." Along with my meal, I ordered a Thai iced tea, which was also very good and bigger than I expected. Lastly, the aesthetic of Nom Nam was so cute and relaxing. I used to work in the area and thought to myself that if I still worked over there, this restaurant would be a regular haunt. I will definitely revisit to try the ramen and other items on the menu, but I think I will always get that chicken banh mi. read more

Must try: Nom Nam Pho! Why: Broth was flavorful. Tons of beef and meatballs. Loved the bone marrow and it even came with a small fork to help slurp out the good stuff, which of course I saved til the end. I added Tendon and Tripe for additional texture. I was craving a warm bowl of pho for weeks and this hit the spot! We shared Crunchy Veggie Spring Rolls and I washed my meal down with a Salted Ice Coffee. Took me a few sips to really enjoy the full flavors of salted cream and Vietnamese coffee. Also, my friend liked their Chicken Banh Mi. Notes: Cute, small, and narrow restaurant with bar seating and table seating. Good for small parties of 2 and up to 4. Love the neon sign that says "troi dat oi" because that reminds me of family when we would yell that phrase at each other in laughter. Workers were attentive and welcoming. Pho is still solid. And the short rib is still my go-to order. Everything else still holds. This time I'm here to talk about my recent obsession, the banh mi. The best banh mi I've had in the states is still from Philly. I've tried to find a substitute in the city but haven't had a good one until now. I get the pork with added pate. Good bread, crisp veggies that don't overpower the other filling. Makes for a good sandwich. My only gripe is that I have to finesse the order by adding pate. Wish it came by default but I understand it's not something widely eaten. read more

I had extremely tempered expectations around Nom Nam, an unassuming Vietnamese eatery in Murray Hill. First of all, I'm sorry to sound like a hater but I've eaten at a lot of Midtown east restaurants and the area is not known for travel-worthy bites, particularly for this category. Second of all, they have a neon sign in the shop, and I've observed a correlation between a restaurant having a neon sign and the food being lackluster. On top of all that, just like with Mexican food, despite there being many Vietnamese restaurants in NYC, they've historically under delivered on flavor. With all this working against having a good meal here, my friend and I decided to give them a try anyway, with the start of chilly weather season calling us to sit down with a bowl of noodle soup, so in we went. I'm happy to say the food was pretty good, and that was a pleasant surprise. I opted for the chicken pho while my friend got bone marrow. My friend is actually Vietnamese and thought the broth was decent-- though she definitely also tempered her expectations with this being a Vietnamese restaurant in New York. We happily drank down our bowls of noodle soup while enjoying our sides, the brussel sprouts and chicken bao. Both had great flavor and at $14-$21 per bowl, the prices weren't so bad. Note that this place is small-- there are only 3 seats at the bar near the front and a few small two tops inside. It's great for when you want to pop in for a quick meal solo or with one other person, or for takeout. read more

Craving. Satisfied. Ordered delivery - quick and easy. Packaged well and no spillage. Got their ham & pate banh mi, bread was a little chewy (probably bc it's been cool down), so it's not toasty and crunchy. The ingredients are delish, BUT the pate is a little gamey - so if this is not your thing, get the pork banh mi! I do wish the pickled carrots & daikons are slightly more vinegary... still good. Literally stumbled upon this place while trying to find a lunch spot in the vicinity. Small, vibrant (albeit crowded and looking sloppy with miscellaneous merchandise near the bar) restaurant with several tables for dining in including limited bar seating. Service was quick and delivery of meal was prompt. After browsing the delicious looking menu, we both ordered Farm raised Chicken Pho Soup. I was minutes away from selecting the BUN Vermicelli Noodles . Next time. Accompaniments (basil, Jalapeño, bean Sprouts and lime) were brought to the table minutes before the soup arrived. Soup was a big bowl with lots and lots of noodles and fresh chicken. Although delicious, I found the broth to be a bit salty. You know Nom Nam is authentic when you can actually meet vietnamese in the restaurant. From starters to mains to dessert to drinks, every single dish shines on its own. Shoutout to their attentive service -- we ate our appetizers slow, and our server offered to reheat our untouched food :) ＊Saigon Famous Wings** The wings were deep-fried till golden crispy, caramelized with sweet fish sauce. The meat was tender and juicy. The dish also came with prawn chips. ＊Sugar Cane Shrimps A light appetizer for sharing. The shrimp paste was wrapped around the sugar cane, giving a slightly sweet aftertaste (it tasted like corn!). ＊Murray Hill Pho** The 25-hour slow-simmered broth was the star of the show -- it was rich in beefy aroma, citrusy notes, and spice. It was spicy but not overpowering. The rice noodles held and absorbed the broth well. The short-rib literally fell of the bone, yet the meat was a bit rough and chewy. ＊Pork Banh Mi ＊Hot Honey Fried Chicken Banh Mi (seasonal) Never sleep on banh mi when I am in a vietnamese restaurant. I personally prefer the pork one. The grilled pork chop was cut into small pieces so it was easier to bite into. ＊Banh Flan** The flan is FANTASTIC. If you like coffee flavored dessert/bitter pudding, you have to order it It was a caramel flan poured with vietnamese black coffee and condensed milk. The toasted coconut flakes on top was so crunchy and addictive. ＊Salted Iced Coffee** ＊Saigon Style Iced Coffee They have different variations on vietnamese coffee. The coffee was strong, aromatic and creamy. I liked the salted cream one, as it reminded me of cheese foam on boba. read more
