After leaving Franklin steakhouse I went with some friends to grab disco fries, which were amazing! But completely not my reason for writing this review. When I pulled out my wallet to pay I didn't realize a 100$ Bill had fallen out of my wallet. The next day I noticed it was gone. Taking a long shot I decided to call this establishment. Believe it or not they had it! Someone had picked it up and saved it for me! I rushed right over, I can't believe an establishment was so honest to someone that had spent such a small amount of money. This is an honest place, the staff is efficient and friendly and the food was great! Completely worth it to check it out. GREAT DINER! read more

Where do i start? I ordered a supposed vegan French onion soup. As I was eating it I found shards of meat inside. I called the waiter over and asked him what kind of meat they make the French onion soup with and he said "none". Then he looked at the meat in my soup and said "oh that looks like beef. , it must have fallen in the soup " Problem is I can't eat pork! This ruined my dinner. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs came out before the spaghetti and Mariners with out any sauce. The driest most unappetizing gray meat ball. The pasta was over cooked and horrible. The marinara sauce came out separately. And guess what? Inside of it I found long squares. I called the waiter over and asked him what was the long squares in my marinara. At First we didn't know, then he picked at it and said " ohhh that's frenchfries, it must have fell in the marinara" This staff was nice, The utensils were clean The diner had a great ambiance Parking was great. In all honestly, I may have picked all the wrong things. This was my experience, and truth be told, I'd be willing to give them one more try. read more

Nutley Diner - Diners Near Me - Nutley, New Jersey

In the past I always avoided Nutley Diner when a friend/loved one would ask to go. Have been regularly going back now for at least 5 years. The food is much improved and the service is usually always great. read more

Ate here twice, most recently last month. Still have not had anything outstanding. Portions are decent, but the food is just on the bland side. Had a burger the first time, and the chicken parm sandwich tonight. Not much flavor in either one. Service was rushed and disinterested. Very nice looking on inside. Hoping to try once more to find something I really like. read more

My server was fine, offered refills and napkins at every step of my experience. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with avocado and unsweetened iced tea. The iced tea just tasted off, like it had steeped for WAY too long. WTF? The grilled chicken sandwich with avocado: uhhh, it was two tasteless pieces of chicken that were way too big for the weird oblong bun, which itself was a disaster. Half of it (lengthwise) was stale and crusty, while the other half of it was drenched/moist and too soft. It came with three small pieces of avocado. After ditching one of the pieces of chicken in order to attempt to try to eat it, i had taken 2-3 bites before the entire sandwich (bun) split lengthwise and completely fell apart. I gave up after about a third of the sandwich. Additionally, I now feel sick to my stomach. While I was in the diner (which had about 3 tables occupied) I was subjected to yelling across an entire aisle of tables (about 10 or 12 total) from the counter to the cashiers stand between some waitress and who seemed to be a female management figure about how many orders they needed of something to go.When i went to cash out, this female person seemed to actually just be taking this food home for herself. The older gentleman who cashed me out, who I'd like to call Mr. Mumbles, seemed to have no idea what was going on and didn't attempt to ask me how anything was or anything and maybe said like 3 words to me, completely indiscernible. On a previous visit, someone ordered a veggie wrap, and the contents consisted of about 50% celery (or bok choy). It was so bad that I COULD SMELL THE CELERY from where I was sitting. Looks like I still have to search out a good local diner. read more

I grew up in New Jersey and am a huge fan of diners. I'm struggling to come up with the words to describe just how repugnant the food here was. First the positives- the waitress was nice, the atmosphere was nice, the diner was clean, and there was ample parking. As you can see, none of those positives relates to the food, and that's why I believe this diner falls squarely into the 1 star category. Soup was lobster bisque. Absolute crap. Tasted like cream of chicken with strips of God knows what, that pseudo resembled the taste some scientist might imagine an average consumer associates with lobster. Awful. Next I had the chicken pesto panini and my girlfriend had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Chicken peso panini... well the panini, pesto, and cheese were good, but the chicken was as dry as the Sahara Desert. Fries were nice and hot, but they tasted very much like they came straight out of a bag. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich was the true superstar, though. Currently my girlfriend is lying in bed trying to get that awful image out of her head. When the plate showed up we both exchanged glances like it was some sort of joke. Essentially it was that kind of awful pulled pork you would get in a middle school cafeteria when they gave you sloppy joes. It's the kind of pulled pork that they put on the plate with an ice cream scoop. It's the kind of pulled pork that is more fun to play with than eat (which we did). For the record when you pick the sandwich up by the top piece of bread it takes approximately 1.5 seconds for the meat to stop sticking to the bread and fall back down to Earth in a giant lump of processed crap. Folks, this is not diner food. This is garbage. I don't care how nice the staff is, how much free parking is available, how quiet the restaurant is... if you serve food like this you can't expect people to come back. Several other diner options around this area which serve average food, which is miles above what you can expect here. read more

If I could, I would give 0 stars. This place went down hill. I've been coming here for years as most people who have grown up in this town. I've been ordering generally the SAME meal for the past couple of years and I'm usually not disappointed but my past couple of visits have been horrible. Tonight I ordered my usual which is a Philly Cheesesteak wrap with a side of honey mustard. The "steak" they used was utterly disgusting. It was like they took some week old roast beef and slapped it on the grill to warm it up. I understand this is a diner and not some high class restaurant so I'm not expecting ribeye but cmon man, it's like you're not even trying anymore. Then the waitress brings out the honey mustard and that shit was BROWN. I figured maybe they changed the dressing vendor since they've clearly changed all of the other products on the menu. FUCKING NOPE!! That dressing was spoiled!!! I brought it to the attention of our waitress and even she said that looked disgusting. Now as any other person who has eaten honey mustard, especially from this diner, it's YELLOW. So I go up to the counter to pay my bill and addressed it the young lady who was working the register. She went in the back and brought me what was clearly a fresh honey mustard. I tried explaining to her that the one I had was brown and spoiled and told me that was the same honey mustard from where mine came from. I understand it's just a dressing but don't sit there and insult my intelligence. I'm not one of your drunk customers that's just excited to eat food. (Mind you, I paid for the food I ate and wasn't trying to "pull a fast one" and get a free meal. I was just simply trying to be a good customer and bring something to their attention.) All in all, I'm very disappointed on where this place has gone and will NOT be returning. read more

Was here a few days ago. Service was bad. More like the server was indifferent about working there. Food wasn't good either.

We use this place when we can't figure out where to go eat. The food quality is acceptable and can sometimes be classified as "good". Nothing I've had there is exceptional or anything. Standard diner food. A small random gripe: their dinner rolls are awful. In 10 years I've never had a dinner roll that tasted fresh. I would really appreciate it if they would just improve this small thing. read more

Waiter was rude, Disgusting, omelet was somewhat in the outside if you can call it cooked, once I cut wife fork and knife is was a blast of liquid not sure if it was undone eggs or hog spit with tiny hairs not sure if it was from the cooks arms, lashes or nose but all I can do is vomit at the table ran to the bathroom and the server had the nerve to run to my table grab the plate and run her ass to the kitchen and act like nothing was freaking wrong. Gross!! Drove my behind to Tops Diner in Kearny. Please note waiters who are rude most of the time is because they get cursed out for the gross food!!! read more

Nutley Diner use to be my local favorite diner until recently. I always purchased the sugar free cheesecake. This particular Sat. evening I purchased 4 slices. We opened at home and it was overly sweetened with splenda and sugar free syrup. I promptly called the diner and spoke to the son of the owner. He apologized and stated he will replace with 4 new slices. When I went back the next day he stated it was the same batch and he will only credit me for the 2 slices instead of 4 because I did not bring back the eaten peices. I cannot believe he was so overly snobby and stated although it was too sweet he had not received no complaints. I had to sternly say I wanted my money back for the 4 slices. He did return...I went to Arlington Diner and I was so extremly satisfied with the sugar free cheesecake and I will never go back for anything at the Nutley diner. Arlington Diner rocked it... read more

My sister and I love ordering the dinner salads (house salad) with a side of grilled chicken to split when we're trying to be healthy. The salad is great - comes with big chunks of feta. They serve a yummy bean salad and rolls at dinner time too. When I'm not being healthy they have good curly fries and other late night foods, although I do not like their gravy that they put on the fries. It has an odd sweet cinnamon flavor. read more

Been here a couple of times after flower shopping at a nearby nursery. It's a good menu in the finest diner tradition.

Good enough for a diner. Huge menu to choose from. Everything is decent. Great place to grab a bite to eat after a long night or in the middle of your busy day. Service is fast (while maybe not that attentive). Way better than Arlington Diner! A great place anytime of day, they're open 24/7! read more

I will keep this short and sweet... At 12 midnight, the night of hurricane Irene I went to pick up 12 appetizers for friends and family staying at my house. When I got home I realized that they had forgotten to put one of the appetizers in the bag (no biggies, it happens). So i called up to have them just take it off the bill and the manager not only apologized, but drove the appetizer to my house in the down poor himself. On top of that he included a free huge piece of peanut butter chocolate cake that was out of this world. Now that is customer service. How many places you know deliver in a hurricane? read more

A good diner. My wife and I often eat here when we have nothing particular in mind to eat. The wait staff is nice, and the food is good. The place looks great since they renovated a year or two back. It is a diner, however, and I have not found any surprises to write home about. I do live in Belleville, though, and we keep coming back (4 years now). And that says something, doesn't it? read more

Your typical diner food. A little pricey for a diner but the service is excellent. I have eaten here many times and have never experienced a wait even on a weekend morning or a Friday for dinner. Their breakfasts are excellent as are their sandwiches. They use these very thick buns for their burgers which is my only complaint. Desserts are great and so are their shakes! read more

Diner's are hit and miss and this one is definitely a hit. The service is good. We have had breakfast here but in our opinion the best thing by far is their Burgers and their WAFFLE FRIES! The burgers are big and juicy and the fries always taste fresh. Cant go wrong with the Cajun burger, Cheeseburger or Avocado. read more

This is hands down my favorite diner in north Jersey, and I have been to many of them! The owners run a real tight ship, which means the place is always clean, the food comes out just the way it should, and the service is top notch. They have a plethora of choices for breakfast, with lots of different omelets and pancakes. Feel like trying bacon bits pancakes or oreo pancakes? Then the Nutley Diner is for you. They have pumpkin pancakes, peach pancakes, banana walnut pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, as well as blueberry and strawberry. Breakfast here is spectacular! The Nutley Diner has tons of daily lunch and dinner specials, and despite ordering a variety of dishes I have never---and I mean NEVER---had a bad meal here. The burgers are delicious. My favorite is the Smokehouse, topped with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, haystack onion rings, and a special sauce. It's messy but mouth-watering. I have had everything here from prime rib to turkey meatloaf to club sandwiches to Italian specialties, and everything has always come out just the way I wanted. Tip: if you're lucky enough to go and see the Beefsteak Bonanza as a special, then give it a shot. The garlicky sauce makes it one of the more tasty dishes, and it's even a favorite among the waitresses. Desserts? Fuhgeddaboudit! Your eyes will be bigger than your stomach when you look at their dessert counter. They have an incredible selection of cheesecakes: brownie cheesecake, triple chocolate cheesecake, reese's peanut butter cheesecake, carrot cheesecake, etc., and every single one is amazing. Lots of cakes, pies, and other desserts as well. Folks, you can't go wrong here whether you're going for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Take my word for it; this is one of the best diners you'll ever eat at in the entire state. read more

I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEN HERE! ok the only reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the waitress. shes out standing.. she always is. we go about the same time every time we get her everytime. she is on point all the time. me and a buddy of mine grew up around this diner. we are both from nutley and have witnessed this diner take a nose dive over the years. our most recent trip was probably the worse of it.
