Saw the viral video on Instagram and decided to check it out. The only way to place an order is through the kiosk. When I was there on a Saturday afternoon, after I placed an order, it took 25 to 30 minutes to make. Wait time was very extremely long. The mochi doll was soft, but very sticky. It was almost too sticky to eat because it was stuck on my throat. I like the idea of all the flavors. The sesame mochi - was OK, mild sweet, but it was very dried. It was a lot of sesame. Taro with purple rice - it was very bland. Doesn't have much sweetness. Taro was so thick and dry. They have great concept but need to work on their ingredients, unfortunately

Finally paying a visit after all the hype kinda toned down. No line at all on Friday afternoon, with option to pre-order online. Nonetheless, even if you didn't, self-order at the kiosk was seamless and quick. The clean petite venue provided some sitting for your waiting time or even for enjoying your mochi on the spot. I got one of their specialty mochi, whose price tag was quite steep IMO, but prolly justified by the gigantic size, literally filled the container cup. The mochi skin was perfectly chewy and fully stuffed with right balance of taro paste and cream cheese. I wished the soybean powder coating was thicker but I overall enjoyed it. I wouldn't disagree with some people saying that the portion was probably bit too much esp with heavy filling, that you might not be able to finish it in one sitting while it's best enjoyed fresh. So good input for them would be considering smaller size as an option?

PRO-TIP: Do NOT take your mochi across the street to Atlantic Times Square and knead it on the outdoor tables. The mochi WILL go through all hole and pop out of the plastic wrap resulting in disgusting waste. Finally had the chance to try this super trendy, I guess viral mochi since it was on everyone's feed for awhile. On the way to the maid cafe, I'd usually see a line outside and I'd say to myself I'd go try it when it's a weekday when it's not as busy, but I never wanted to make the U-turn loop around to do so. While we were walking around the area, we thought to ourselves, why not since we're already there. I remember when waiting for the mochi would take 2-3 hours and there was a horribly long giga line in the torrential rain. Man, people will be influenced by anything (but I guess that's how society works). When we went on a Sunday evening, it was around a 15 minute wait for us to get our order and they let you know by text. There's 2 ordering kiosks and you can order online for pick up too. Whichever is the most convenient. With that in mind, the shop's ambiance can feel quite chaotic and very busy since lots of people are there to wait for their order and many times they're not there by themselves. The workers are rushing too, to get out as many orders as possible, but just have your order text message, number, and name ready and you should be good. There's like a chair and small bench inside and fence bench seating outside. There's tables down the way in the plaza next to the dead fountain, but there's no chairs. For my order, I got the: 1) Black Sesame Matcha Chocolate Mochi: -This is one of their special flavors. -Pretty sizeable mochi, around the size of your fist or a softball if you have yuri hands. -Comes in a cup and wrapped in saran wrap. It's easier to bite into and eat this than to try to separate it into pieces and share. -The black sesame part was pretty good, I'll give them that. -However, the matcha part (I guess it's because it's matcha chocolate) is literally an unformed rectangular solid brick in the middle of the mochi. So you're getting a super chewy, gooey, exterior, grainy interior, and then a solid hard brick to bite into. Not appealing whatsoever. My mistake. Despite it being more popular, it wasn't that great and also looked extremely haunting as food gore. 2) Pure Durian Mochi: -I got this for my parents. They liked the durian flavor but was ugh with the overall gooey squishiness of the entire thing, including how mushy the durian was on the inside with how mushy the mochi was too. 3) Soybean Mochi and Dip: -This is their soybean powder mochi (no filling) and it comes with salted milk cream and Oreo. -Looks NOTHING like the illustration that's on their ordering menu. The picture clearly shows like 8 pieces, but you're only getting half of that. Also the Oreo dip looks cute with what looks like a Hello Koala in it, but it does NOT come with that. -The reason I even got this was because it looks like it came with a sizeable amount that I can share with my family AND it looked cute. I was scammed and baited. Wouldn't be surprise that the art is AI slop created for the menu. USE REAL PICTURES GUYS. Definitely not worth the hype at least for what I ordered and from what I've experienced. At least I didn't have to wait that long, but if I was there at the start of it all and got what I ordered, I'd be PISSED.

    Inside, too much filling

Came here to try after all the posts on social media. Really big portion size for the mochi as expected given the price. I had the black sesame with matcha filling. The emoji on the outside is fresh indeed, but there he didn't layer. The filling mochi covering skin ratio is off by a lot. Too much feeling on the inside. Very heavy maybe after a few bites you will be done with the filling. Would like more mochi skin on the outside thickness. Cost was around $7.25 for this specific flavor? If I came back I would consider maybe getting one of the package options which might have just the mochi by itself with no fillings inside. And consider using the dipping option.

I'm a mochi traditionalist, red bean and classic flavors are usually my go-to, but I was shocked to walk in and smell durian, and it clearly wasn't scaring away the long line. The Black Sesame mochi was thick and rich, almost cake-like, and even impressed my wife, who usually isn't a mochi fan. The Matcha mochi tasted so authentic, made with real green tea, that it kept me up all night! I'd definitely go back to try some of their crazier flavors. The portion size is so big that two Mochis fed 4 of us.

I'm on the fence about this place. We went at night. About a 5 minute wait for the kiosk and 10 minute wait for the order. We got mango, grape, and sesame mochi. Mango mochi had a cream cheese filling, and grape had a matcha cream cheese filling. First, I wish it was a whipped cream of sorts. The cream cheese doesn't go well with the fruits, in my opinion. Especially the matcha cream cheese with the grape. The fruits itself were fresh and delicious! You need to highlight the fruit, not the cream cheese. The cream cheese overpowered the fruit. The sesame one, I brought back home. This brings back memories when my mom used to make her own. Though, she did not put peanuts in her sesame mix. This was the best one between the three. The mochi was soft and stretchy for all three. I watched them make it. I don't think I'll pay $7 for the fruit ones. I do want to try the salted egg yolk one.

The craziest line I've ever seen for mochi. Came on a Sunday afternoon and the line was still long even after passing by this place and coming back a few hours later. You place an order on the kiosk and they get right to work. The mochi are pretty fresh and they offer a variety of fillings from: no filling, to sweet fillings to even savory! Unfortunately I came during the later afternoon and the savory options (pork floss/salted egg) were sold out for the day. I got to order a few different flavors. And though I don't like the mochi with cream cheese since of the texture, my all time favorite was the one with peanut and sugar. I love that they make this fresh to order, they put it in a bag (to make it easier to eat as it can get messy) and then into a little paper cup with lid. The wait was about 15 minutes, we saw that they were working on a total of 30+ orders. The establishment is really simple, clean and provides a bit of indoor and outdoor seating. Again, if you're a peanut lover, try the mochi with peanut and sugar. It's such a good mix of salty and sweet, great textures because of the peanuts and sugar crystals all wrapped in the softest mochi shell.

Finally trued the viral mochi but unfortunately was not my cup of tea, but my partnered like them. We came on a Thursday afternoon and there was no line, but all the salted egg yolk flavors were sold out. We tried these passionfruit pineapple cream and the seasonal black sesame matcha mochi. If they are made to order, I cannnot say but the textures of each filling were vastly different, but the orders did come out quickly. The black sesame flavor was there but the filling was quite hard to the mochi. The cream filling was super soft but the pineapple/passionfruit filling tasted like a canned fruit/ too sugary? The mochi was superrrr sticky which was where I was lost. It's the kind that sticks to your teeth immediately.

It's always popped up on my Facebook feed. So when I drove down to Monterey Park, I decided to stop by and try it. You would order through a kiosk. And it will tell you approximately how long your wait time is. I had ordered the heavy nut sesame filling with the salty meat floss outside. It was delicious and huge. I also ordered the black sesame peanut with unsweetened outside. That was delicious as well. There was also a Matcha mochi with black sesame filling that was OK. It was huge. I would go again as the mochi was very chewy and soft and Fresh.

Came by on a Thursday afternoon and only was took about a ~10 minute wait (ordering + waiting for items)! Parking is either street parking in the front of the lot in the back structure shared with other businesses. Ordering is through a kiosk which had plentiful options to choose from as well as language assistance. I got a bunch of mochis to try but the star was definitely the durian mochi. They are very generous with their fillings! The texture of mochi is the perfect amount of chewiness and is thin so you aren't getting a whole mouth full of dough. Some mochis give you the option on which outer powder you want to mix it with as well. Everything is made to order so I definitely understand how crazy it would be during their busier times.

Hubby and I have been wanting to try this place out but did not want to wait in that LONG line. Finally got a chance to and went to pick some up to try. Got there and parked in front, it's a small, but well lit shop. There's was a bit of a wait for the kiosk to place an order, but it wasn't long. We ordered the pure durian, taro cream cheese dusted with matcha powder, sugar peanut dusted with sweetened soybean powder, and taro purple rice dusted with sweetened soybean powder. There is a bit of a wait since they make it fresh, but the mochi ball is HUGE! Worth the pricing for that amount. Absolutely delicious for the amount and price and not overly sweet. Definitely will not coming back again.

I heard about Nuo Mochi last year and came by a few times to see how long the wait is. The last time I almost ordered, the wait was about 50 minutes, which I decided not to wait. This past Sunday I came around closing and the wait was about 15 minutes. The good thing is that when you order at the kiosk, they give you an estimated wait time. There were a lot of things sold out, so I opted for the strawberry, grape and taro rice. I wandered over to the plaza and few blocks away and then came back and my order was ready. I took it home to eat and tried the taro rice first. The mochi was huge and I really enjoyed the outside. Not a huge taro fan but it was decent. I was most looking forward to the strawberry and grape and ended up pretty disappointed. I really disliked the cream cheese, it was odd with the fruit. I just didn't like the combination. I ended up eating about half and tossing it. Kind of disappointed as there was so much hype around Nuo. I definitely liked the outside but the filling left a lot to be desired. I don't think I will be back.

Back in March, I visited Nuo Mochi twice within a span of a week. During both visits, most of the menu was sold out and I didn't have much interaction with the staff aside from when I received my orders. The shop was brightly lit with limited seating, and it seemed most customers did takeaway. My first visit was on a Tuesday night. There was no wait for the ordering kiosk, and I received my order within a few minutes. I chose the flavors of Sesame & Peanut ($3.50), Purple Rice/Red Bean/Taro ($4.50), and Matcha Green Grape ($6.00). Out of the three flavors, my fave was the Sesame & Peanut because it was fragrant and not too sweet. However, I wished the filling was firmer because it kept spilling out while I was eating. My second visit was on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a line out-of-the-door. The total time to wait in line, place an order, and receive the order was about 40 minutes. I almost chose the same flavors again, but ended up swapping the Matcha Green Grape for the Black Sesame & Matcha Chocolate ($7.25), which was a fantastic decision because it became my new fave flavor. The matcha chocolate was decadent, earthy, and paired well with the nutty black sesame paste. I saved half of this mochi for the next day, and it was still yummy after 30 seconds in the microwave. Also, I chose unsweetened rice powder for the applicable mochi skins during both visits, which worked out because it made the mochi taste fresh and neutral while showcasing the interesting fillings. After two visits, I'd return to Nuo Mochi for a third time, if I had a craving and was willing to splurge. The prices of the mochi do add-up when you buy the specialty flavors.
