Loved this place. Dark and divey like a pub should be. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and my husband got the fish and chips. Would 100% recommend. The fried pickles were great! I was soooo excited to finally go try out the fish and chips here. Had been thinking about it all day. When I walked in I didnt see a lot of people eating. It was just before 6pm, so probably the happy hour crowd. I'm sorry to say that my order was less than stellar. Waaay overcooked fish. Like, dry and hard. Especially on the ends. Out of a 3 piece, for $13.00, I got a couple bites out of the middle of each one and the rest was inedible. Trust me, I tried. The chips were ok, though. When I looked at the pics that had been posted previously, my order looked nothing like them. That fish looked like what I had wanted... I've been to some English pubs that are either authentic (in London) or close to the real thing (in various cities) where you can get a good pint off tap, enjoy some scrumptious fish & chips, chat up a Brit or two and watch football...didn't get that vibe here...but I think they just opened so maybe they need to just get off the ground. The best pub food I've had outside of Ireland. Try the vindaloo, or the bangers, or the bubble & squeak, or the burger, or shepherds pie...all excellent. Their 'chips' ,waffle fries, are to die for! Not a huge beer selection but still a nice variety. They have what I like, that's good enough. The wait staff is excellent. It's a bar and feels like a bar with a group of regulars. It was fairly quiet being a Tuesday evening but it seemed there was a small group of regulars there who knew the bartender and that always makes for a good atmosphere. Really liked the batter on the fried pickles; it was thick and had a nice crunch. Same for the batter on the fish & chips. I'd go back for the fish, it was great, but waffle fries?! Wrong. The wing were pretty decent. All in all, I'd like to check this place out on a busier night...i bet it's fun. I think it's my neighborhood's best kept secret: this place has a kitchen open late on the weekend. We've been here for dinner and beers several times, and last Saturday was my favorite. After an evening of cocktails downtown, the fish and chips and mac and cheese hit. the. spot. The beer selection is great. Jai Alai and Yellow Rose IPAs topped off the night nicely. The place has a British theme (can "British" be a theme?), and food to match. Shepard's pie- they got it. Fish and chips- hell yeah! Bubble and squeak- what's that? Delicious. The decor also follows the British theme, complete with a map of the underground on the way to the restrooms. Speaking of restrooms, theirs kinda suck. They're functional, but that's about all. Maybe a bit grungy. But back to that mac and cheese. I saved the last bit, along with one of my fish filets. Nothing could've been better Sunday morning than three cold bites of bacon mac and cheese. Love this place so much. - The staff is incredible, including the owner. I've never been to a bar with a more authentically welcoming crew. - The bar itself is great. Pool, ping ping, darts, board games are all at your disposal. - Cheap drinks. In fact the drinks are cheaper here than any other bar I've found in the area. IMO, this place should be one dollar sign. - Great beer selection. - Clientele has always been chill, with a pretty good amount of people even on off nights. Really the only thing I would change is I would remove some of the TVs. It's kind of hard to sit anywhere at the bar without a TV being in your face. I came here today to meet up with a friend and have some lunch. We were the only customers at a table and there were a few people at the bar watching soccer. The noise level was pretty quiet but, at the end the crowd was very loud over the excitement of the game. Parking is easy since it is a strip mall bar. I have some seriously mixed feelings about the food however, the server was great. We chatted for 2.5 hours and she didn't overly check on us and continued to fill our waters. The fried pickles were a highlight and the accompanying sauce had just the right amount of kick. The pickles were thick and the breading seasoned perfectly. I ordered the chipolte ranch chicken sandwich and added cheese and it comes with waffle fries. The sandwich was very messy which is to be expected but, the chicken breast was very disappointing. It was chewy in spots and I am not sure if it was boiled or microwaved but, I am sure that it was a frozen low quality breast. The waffle fries on the other hand were on point and I loved the spices; so good you didn't need to dip them in anything. The pricing is fair and their beer selection was good form what I saw on the menu. Probably a good place for an appetizer and some beers with friends while watching sports. read more

I would probably have given this two stars if it didn't claim to be a British restaurant. As an ex-pat, always keen on finding a taste of home, so was interested when I saw this place open. Finally got round to going in this last Friday. Unimpressive decor; dim, industrial, stripped out and bare without much character at all, and a few random pics of "British" stuff (certainly not like a traditional British pub). Our server was friendly and attentive. They have Boddington's and a couple of other British brews, otherwise a standard drinks selection. The food...that's why the star rating is so low. I had the bangers and mash. Bangers and mash requires bangers...i.e. British type sausages. If you just use your standard US style spiced link then it's not bangers and mash. The mashed potato was fine, onion gravy the same, it's just not in any way an accurately named or British dish. Also tried friends' options; for fish and chips the fish should not look like a corn dog and the chips should not be waffle fries. The shepherd's pie was bland. And my girlfriend's chicken korma was genuinely awful - like a poor microwave meal thrown on a plate. In general this is a mediocre strip mall dive bar with edible but unimpressive bar food (with the exception of the awful curry, all the food was OK-ish). I finally got around to swinging into this place and I am glad I did. Right away the bartender Ann (Anne?) was super nice and welcoming. She seemed genuinely interested in knowing about me and definitely sold the place to me in a way that made me want to come back before I even had a single bite of food. To put it simply, she is good at her job. I got the Bubble and Squeak with a Banger added on for my meal. It was pretty darn delicious. The onion gravy was excellent and the sausage was very tasty. I would order it again without hesitation. I definitely will be back to try the Shepard's Pie and some Fish & Chips. So yeah.. this divey place in a strip mall turns out to be pretty legit. I would definitely recommend it for a chill spot to grab a beer and your favorite British dish. I know I will be back with my Wife, and perhaps the kids, in tow. read more

What used to be an awesome local dive bar has had a complete makeover into an English Kitchen and Bar. Nosh & Bevvy is huge but still stays true to it's roots of Baby Blues so it's the best of both worlds. There is tons of seating, darts, ping-pong, a pool table and arcade games. Drink prices are always really cheap and they have a killer happy hour too. I haven't had a chance to try out the food yet, but it looks delicious, I can't wait to give it a try. read more

Location: The location feels way too big for this type of venue, which we all know can really change how you feel about an establishment... It's scant decor feels empty, with huge walls and tiny pictures on them. It looks like it had a very small remodeling budget after the previous Indian restaurant moved out. The overall layout, fit and finish, both outside and inside, just feel lazy. It's obvious they didn't want to sink much money into this location to give it any sort of authentic appeal. Service: My wife and I went there for food. We were starving after a long day of house hunting, and a good Fish n' Chips sounded great. We sat in a booth near the bar. The bar tender had to be our server (no dedicated wait staff for that huge place. We were there late afternoon on a Sunday). She was polite and served us fairly promptly. She brought drinks and our food in a timely manner while managing the bar customers and diners. Food: The menu had some great options so we tried the Fried Pickles, Onion Ring Basket, Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips. The fried pickles and Onion Ring Basket came out first. Fried Pickles: They tasted like they came from a frozen bag. They were over-fried and the breading seemed to be a pre-packaged. That being said, they tasted ok and came with a side of chipotle mayo. They were very oily. I'd rate them a 6/10. Onion Ring Basket: This was a joke. There was exactly 6 small rings in the basket, and again the breading reminded me of something that comes frozen in a bag, but honestly I've had Onion Rings from the freezer section that tasted better than these. I'd rate them a 4/10. Fish and Chips: The cross-cut fries were extremely greasy. Again, the batter was completely different than both the Pickles and Onion Rings, and absolutely could have been a grocery store freezer section purchase... I've eaten enough freezer section fried potatoes to know when I've eaten it. I'd rate the fries 5/10. The Fish was ok. The batter wasn't too thick, or to thin. It did appear to be hand-battered. The batter itself wasn't very flavorful, and it was very greasy. White, reasonably flaky meat inside. If the batter had more flavor/seasoning, it may have actually been good... Nothing else to report on it. I'd rate the fish at 5/10. I've had WAY better Fish and Chips right here in town from several places. Bangers and Mash: This was the best food we had here. The potatoes were good, but authentic UK Bn'M potatoes typically have a lumpy consistency whereas these were basically whipped. The onion gravy was very good. The Bangers were ok, but they basically serve you kielbasa... I'm a fan of kielbasa, don't get me wrong, and the dish tasted good, but they shouldn't call it Bangers, and then serve you kielbasa...They are different things. I'd rate this a 7/10. I've read the other reviews and I'm pretty surprised... Maybe after a few drinks the place grows on you? read more

They lose a star for having zero outdoor seating - or even standing room where you can take your drink and have a smoke. I've been waiting to write a review until I tried the food. I've been here several times since the grand reopening but last night was the first time we had food. First: the service has always been top-notch and excellent. I can't say enough good things about the servers here. The drinks are cheap and they have some great selections. The food: we had the bacon mac & cheese, the shepard's pie, and bangers & mash. Everything was really tasty, good pub grub. I need to try the curry next because I have a soft spot for indian food (and someone near me got the curry and it smelled amaaaazing). My office loves to have happy hours here because of the space. Several of the servers and bartenders have my drink order memorized which makes me feel right at home. Hands down, the worst fish-n-chips ever. The batter was too thick, they were ridiculously greasy and undercooked. Bf had one and a half out of three almost raw pieces. The chips were battered waffle chips. Okay, but I wasn't a fan. The tap beers tasted funny. I had a Guinness first, which was poured super quickly, then a Live Oak heff. It could have been the switching of beers, but the second beer also tasted funny. Service was fine, but they were understaffed. They needed at least one more server, if not 2. There appeared to be only one person manning the bar and one server and one cook. They were pretty busy in the drink department, but not so much in the food department. We ended up complaining based on raw fish, and asked for the manager. The waiter said he wasn't there, then magically he appeared. I remember seeing him too, so I didn't understand the lie. They ended up comping our whole meal and drinks, which was very nice. The owner came over and apologized. They tried to remedy it, which I appreciated. However, the owner blamed the undercooking of the fish on a rush. I was facing the kitchen window and only saw 2 orders go out and one was ours. The cook even went out front for a smoke after the 2 orders. Plus, we got no silverware and not enough napkins for the greasy and soggy fish. The waiter was too busy rushing around to even flag down. Bad beer and awful fish-n-chips at a "British" pub, means I won't be back, even though they tried to fix it. read more

Best fish 'n chip I've found in Austin. Comes with a very nice crispy batter and a side of seasoned waffle fries. I enjoyed with a house salad and vinaigrette. The place is casual and service is excellent. The only thing I'd change is the amount of TVs, there are too many bright TVs in the main bar area for the place to feel like a cozy pub. The ambiance is welcoming and many who frequent this place are locals and regulars. They play great music, but not so overbearing that you can't converse with others in your group. There is usually something interesting on the TVs as well, whether it be sports or some campy movie with subtitles. The drink prices are some of the best in the area. The food is what really sets this place apart from other bars of this type. They offer an interesting variety of English Pub Food, Indian Curries and typical bar fare. I have most from these categories and each is excellent. Whether you are in the mood for an Indian Tikka Masala, Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, Mac N Cheese or Burgers to name a few, Nosh & Bevvy can satisfy. The employees and owner are what will keep me coming back. Each employee is very friendly and personable. They all have their unique personality and they let is fly. It's hard to pick a favorite. I normally only order food (to go) so I can't speak to the pub aspect - though my boyfriend has enjoyed the beers that are on draft when he's stayed. I like the fish and chips & bangers and mash, but I'm most impressed by the customer service; this past time, I wasn't very clear with my order and so there was a dish missing as well as a dish included that I hadn't asked for. The people taking care of us were really sweet, taking full responsibility for the mistake (even though I'd say it was 60% my fault) and gave us drinks on the house while we waited for them to cook a replacement order (which came out very, very quickly on a Friday night). They ended up only charging us for one out of the three dishes. Even if the food were mediocre - which it's most definitely not - I'd be a loyal customer for life because of this incident. read more
